Timeline of the Rise of Larket Arc so far:

as of February 6th, 2017

OOC: This information is for your ooc use only.

  1. Many months ago the fermin, who live in the sewers under Larket as you know, unleashed A PLAGUE! (No one knows this ic, but Macon, former sheriff of Larket, provoked them into doing this with his Rage Axe, an axe enchanted with a magic stone to make people go crazy and violent.)
  2. Macon murdered NPC councilwoman Andurla. Kelovath and Artia witnessed this murder! They are the only witnesses!!!
  3. Macon flees the city.
  4. Artia (Muzo?) others cure that plague.
  5. Kelo, Artia, Sabrina made councilmembers.
  6. Kelo leaves with a Larketian mission to support Hildegarde's war.
  7. While Kelo is at war, Macon and a fermin illusionist (NPC'd by Gilwen) unleash a disease in the fort sickbay. The illusionist makes Macon look like Kelovath. Some people think Kelovath is the culprit behind this latest attack. (Macon-as-Kelovath also incited a brawl, killed some peeps!)
  8. But the attack happened during Hildegarde's coronation in Frostmaw. Kelovath was there. So he was seen in two places at once.
  9. Kelo (and Josleen, thane of frostmaw now) move to Larket. There is a mob waiting. The mob = a small group of residents who think Kelovath is a bad guy. The Council is still standing by Kelo, believe him.
  10. Kelovath and Josleen buy a house, which just so happens to be the late Andurla's second home.
  11. Macon returns to Larket and addresses the anti-Kelovath mob. He has evidence that Kelovath was responsible for the disease unleashed in the fort. He provides (fake) evidence and a Priest of Cyris (not really, it's the fermin illusionist NPC'd by Gilwen again) corroborates Macon's story. Macon further claims that Kelovath killed Andurla, and pinned it on him instead. Macon claims he is innocent.
    1. Macon arrives with a chest. Claims he saw Kelovath hide the chest in the Chapel of Cyris. The chest if magically locked. Kelovath wears an enchanted key on a chain around his neck. It was a gift from Josleen. The key is enchanted to unlock any minor enchanted locks, so it works in opening the chest and looks real bad for Kelovath. Inside the chest is a jar of what looks like disease poison. Muzo the naga scientists takes the jar to analyze it and see if it matches the disease unleashed in the fort.
  12. The next day, the real Priest of Cyris is found dead and Kelovath is arrested on suspicion of murder.
  13. Josleen via Hureig hires a witch, Talyara, to hold a seance to speak directly to the ghost of Andurla to get to the bottom of this. Andurla's spirit says the words 'fermin' and 'illusionist'.
  14. Muzo confirms the potion in the chest Macon found is the same that caused the disease in the Larketian Fort.
  15. Hureig breaks Kelovath out of jail.
  16. Macon and The Larket Guard capture Hureig in the aftermath of the jailbreak.
  17. Josleen and Kelovath flee the city, go to Xalious first to Josleen's parents house (Kyl'oriel!), then flee to Cenril and stay with Skylei.
  18. Macon recruits Thronnel into Team Macon, gives him a fancy badge so he can chase down Kelovath under pretense of being the law.
  19. Thronnel visits Kyl'oriel and suggests that if he cooperates and gives up Kelovath, nothing bad will come to Josleen, who is currently seen as an accomplice and guilty. However, if Kyl'oriel cooperates, well, maybe the law lets Josleen off easy and deems her nothing more than a lovestruck girl.
  20. Josleen hires The Steel Collective to investigate Macon.
  21. Hildegarde and a large Frostmawian force arrive in Larket to free the ambassador Hureig. Macon's terms of release are categorically refused. Hureig is freed. War appears to be unavoidable.
    1. Frostmaw and Larket delcare war. A war council is convened in Frostmaw and Hildegarde, Leone, Josleen, Lionel, Emrith, and Hureig are present.
  22. Macon recruits Jhaelyn to Team Macon.
  23. Blut, a member of The Steel Collective, kidnaps Hsk Spittle, the fermin illusionist inside Ferminville.
  24. Blut delivers Hsk Spittle to Josleen who gets the true story of Macon and enlists Hsk Spittle as a double agent to steal the rage stone.
  25. Macon officially takes the throne of Larket with The Rage Stone as his crown jewel.
  26. Kelovath goes to Trist'oth to interrogate Gevurah about what she knows about Macon. Gevurah, psychopath, attacks Kelo. Kelo is saved by the sentient holy sword Tenbatsu Kaji and escapes House D'Artes with the sword in his possession, but not before knocking Gev flat on her rump.
  27. Thronnel, still hunting Kelovath and Josleen, runs into a very drunk and aggravated Skylei at The Whaler's Bar. The drunk half-elf unwittingly gives up Kelovath and Josleen's location to their bounty hunter.
  28. Emrith, on behalf of Josleen and Kelovath and Frostmaw, sneaks into Fort Larket and steals Macon's crown and The Rage Stone embedded in it. However, Hisk Spittle died during the mission and Hildegarde isn't pleased with how Macon has spun the story as a botched assassination attempt by Frostmaw.
  29. Macon starts building a gang, and tries to convince Councilwoman Sabrina of his innocence, with some success. He also hires Nikola to make special armor for Jhaelyn.
  30. Meanwhile in Cenril, Thronnel abducts Josleen and makes her very angry. Macon arrives and tries to convince Josleen that Kelovath is the great deceiver who is responsible for the plagues and misfortunes that have afflicted Larket. Josleen remains unconvinced. Macon decides to take her back to fort Larket.
  31. On the road to Larket, two of Macon's kingsguard go mental and attack Macon and Josleen. They survive, the two kingsguard are killed, and Macon privately wonders why this keeps happening to his guard.
  32. Over the course of the next month+, Josleen remains at Fort Freedom as Macon's prisoner/guest under the guise of discussing a peaceful conclusion to the war between Frostmaw and Larket.
    1. Macon confides in Josleen that he believes he has been infected by the Rage Stone and that exposure to him is the cause of his Kingsguards' madness.
    2. Slowly but surely Josleen is convinced that Kelovath is the true villain of Larket, thanks in part to his preposterous story of how he came to be in possession of Tenbatsu Kaji.
      1. Important OOC Note: In this chapter, some characters, including Josleen, begin to believe that Kelovath is evil, a liar, a fallen paladin. OOCly speaking, we know he is not. ICly, there is real evidence that can be (mis)interpreted to 'prove' that Kelovath is most likely than not a bad guy. What your character believes is your call.
    3. Josleen decides to stay in Larket and not appeal to Hildegarde for peace until Kelovath can be captured and made to confess to his crimes.
    4. Josleen and Macon commit numerous slights against Kelovath.
  33. Valen returns to Larket to be reinstated as an instructor at The Academy of Magics and meets with the new Headmaster Percival.
  34. Thronnel returns Josleen's dog, Gigi, to her at Fort Freedom and wonders why in the world she, a prisoner of war, is being treated so well there.
    1. Thronnel gets into an argument with Josleen and burns her wrist with his magic.
    2. Guards intervene and bring the pair to the king, who becomes very upset and strikes Thronnel when he questions his judgement.
    3. Thronnel, upset that the king is not grateful for his loyalty, does something disloyal by placing a spell on Macon's armor that saps the wearers strength over time.
  35. Kreekitaka amasses a force of dinosaur riders and begins plotting to overthrow Macon and take his place at head of Larket.
  36. Even more dinosaurs begin to appear and migrate across Lithrydel, creating a problem south of Larket inside Sage Forest. Lionel and the Warrior's Guild mobilize to deal with this threat.
  37. Several loyal Larketians and some not so loyal non-Larketians (Valen, Percival, Sabrina, Xzavior) come to Macon with news of Kreekitaka's dino army and plans to attack Larket.
  38. Xzavior attempts to expose Macon as a villain beholden to Gevurah in the presence of Sabrina. She does not buy it, or at the very least stands behind the king in spite of it.
  39. Maureen (a 'senior' member of the Kingsguard), leads a small group of her peers on an unsanctioned ambush mission against Frostmawians. They attack Lionel, Krice, and Stroud on the road between Xalious and Kelay. Loss of life is suffered on both sides. Lionel reports this event to Hildegarde, and one of the surviving Kingsguard reports it to Macon.
  40. Kreekitaka proposes to Hildegarde that Frostmaw and his Dinosaur Army team up to attack Larket. Hildegarde rejects the offer and Kreekitaka leaves Frostmaw, taking all his investments with him.
  41. Macon immediately summons Josleen to write a letter to Hildegarde to de-escalate the situation. It doesn't work. Hildegarde arrives, fort busting style, argues with Macon (who to be fair is being a bit of a jerk), and snatches Josleen away back to Frostmaw. There, Josleen explains that Macon is now good, Kelovath is bad, and this war is a mistake. Hildegarde says she will think on it.
  42. Kreekitaka meets with Macon to strike a deal. Kree won't attack, if in exchange he is allowed to make large investments in Larket. Macon tells him to lie low for a while, wait for the Kree-hate in Larket to pass, try again later.
  43. Macon asks Valen to erase Maureen's memory of the attack on Lionel and Stroud.
  44. Mythayus joins Team Macon.
  45. BATTLE! Battle erupts at the Elegant Bridge connecting Larket to Kelay. Knight-Commander of Frostmaw forces, Lionel, makes an executive decision in the field and decides to attack the bridge, a choke point, to prevent King Macon's army from leaving the city and advancing on Frostmaw. Macon defends his city and Lionel and the Frostmawians are forced to retreat. Macon, mysteriously and magically fatigued (Thronnel curse) breaks a leg in the battle.
  46. Hildegarde, displeased with Lionel's judgment, strips him of his title of knight-commander (until he earns it again), then invites Macon to meet her in Schezerade to negotiate for peace. (Macon perhaps receives the invitation a little late as he was preoccupied in Kelay with Thane Josleen. The pair very fastidiously commit more slights against Kelovath.)
  47. In Schezerade, Queen Hildegarde, King Macon, and Thane Josleen negotiate for wins and losses. The negotiations turn tense when Queen Hildegarde requests an Eyrie outpost on Larketian turf. Macon, displeased, has a counter offer: fine, but only if he marries Thane Josleen. Josleen agrees, but not without some growling.
  48. Rorin, sweet boy, Cannot. Handle. The. Compromises. He sasses Queen Hildegarde! SASSES!
  49. Lionel tells Josleen he suspects Macon of being a death knight. Josleen confronts Macon and he confesses, but with just enough of a twist (i.e. totally a death knight but not an evil death knight, get it?) that she decides to stay with him and keep his secret.
  50. On King Macon and Queen Josleen's wedding day, an earthquake shatters The Hard City.
