Runology
Runology is the study and use of runes, people who do this on a regular basis may be known as a Runologist, Rune-Smith or even a Rune Master. Runes are one of the most ancient forms of magic in Hollow and involve the implanting of arcane power into inanimate or arcane objects via the carving or engraving of runic symbols which summon fourth magical powers. The race of Dwarves use runes often are easily the most powerful rune-smiths in Hollow. Runes can be used for many purposes including sealing, enchanting weapons or creating protection enchantments. Below are some of the major runes of Hollow's history.
The Five Knight's Runes
Each of the five Knights of Eurydel possessed a rune which contained the sum of each Knight's soul and strength. In times of great need, these runes have been sacrificed to releases great amounts of power, though destroying the Knight in the process.
Tiaren's Rune
The name of this rune has been lost in time, though it is known that the bearer of this Rune, Tiaren, sacrificed himself and the rune, in order to save the world.
The Light Rune
Held by the Knight of Eurydel, Norodruin. As with Tiaren, Norodruin sacrificed himself, along with the rune, in order to seal Arrecation and distribute his power between Sven, Hind, and Lore.
The Dark Rune
Held by the Knight of Eurydel, Falcanthen.
The Sky Rune
Held by the Knight of Eurydel, Orvaac.
The Blue Rune
Held by the Knight of Eurydel, Ryvain.
Runes of Arrecation
Rune of Oberyl
In times past the body and power of Arrecation was trapped within a red gem inscribed with the ancient rune of Oberyl by Norodruin who was one of the five Knights of Eurydel, this rune was later found by Ilzubale, a common man of Baskar (The secluded village in Xalious), when Ilzubale was defeated by the three saviors of Hollow the rune fell into the hands of Aurican an Orc chief of Gualon before being passed to Rudra the Elf. The rune of Oberyl entered Rudra's body and he became the third and final avatar of Arrecation.
Rune of Nocturin
In times past the soul and essence of Arrecation was trapped within a black gem inscribed with the ancient rune of Nocturin by Norodruin who was one of the five Knights of Eurydel, later the rune was found by a white dragon lord known as Kaizer. The rune summoned the dragon and upon implanting himself in his scaly paw Kaizer became the first of three avatars of Arrecation.
