RP: A Bittersweet Goodbye

From HollowWiki

Thalra is departing Hollow. She will not be returning. Talyara by chance was there when she left. And, now for Lithrydale the story of Thalra ends.

Cenril Docks

Thalra stood at the foot of the prow the ship. Only three days ago had she received a letter from her Daughter. She wore a simple red dress, with a red coat and red fedora. She smiled slightly as she looked forward to the thought of seeing her daughter, her daughters and her grandchildren again. The ship as it would seem had been from the land she came from. Simon the Captain stood by the gangplank as the crewmembers took up her things, her pets. "I am going to miss it here. Especially the seafood." She said. Her gaze surveyed the beach. Ever hopeful someone had come to see her off.

Talyara had come to Cenril to make some final preparations for Lanara’s bachelorette party which would be held in the seaside town. She had considered calling on her sister to see if she could spare a room for the evening, but decided to go for a stroll on the beach first. As the little witch approaches the sand she kicks off her sandals, rolls up her leggings to her calves, and begins to walk. For the most part the beach is deserted this late in the evening, but a familiar figure in red catches her attention. A sea breeze grasps Taly’s unruly locks and dances them across her face and she quickly shakes them away, sputtering as a rogue lock gets caught in her mouth. “Thalra?” Talyara calls out curiously as she approaches the ship where the drow stands.

Thalra smiled as soon as she caught sight of Talyara. "Hey, I had hoped a friend might have been able to see me off." The smile was small, but was it meaningful, a mixture of sadness and joy. "I am, going away, I won't be back." she said, as she watched Sherman get carried up the gangplank by a crewmember. She looked back at talyara. "How life been in your world?"

Talyara blinks her doe-like emerald eyes as a small frown tugs down on the corners of her lips. “See you off?” the witch repeats as she closes the distance between the pair. She needn’t ask for further clarification as the drow offers it up sans details. “You’re leaving,” Taly says unnecessarily. “Why are you going?” she asks, tucking a curl behind her slightly tapered ear. “Oh! I’m doing well, thank up. I’m living back up in Frostmaw. Just had a few errands to run down here."

Thalra smiled. Reaching into her coat, she pulled out a letter. Opening it read: "Dearest Mother, I write to tell you that, I have been able to convince the nobility that you are no longer a threat to them, that your actions against the 27 lords involved in the conspiracy to remove our family from the throne are the only targets you targeted. Your elimination of them was consistent with Father's wishes and my former husbands, that none of these conspiring officials would be allowed to pass peacefully into the night. Now that the Council of Nobles has realized that your not some psychopath killing nobles for the fun of it and evidence has been procured, with further developments thanks to detective work, I am pleased to announce as my Authority as high queen, that I am to pardoned you and welcome you back home. my Sisters and our grandchildren await your return. The Guardian has ensured that you will have safe passage back to our lands. I hope to see you soon mother. Love your Daughter High Queen Denise.* Thalra finished her eyes looking up at Talyara, "I can go home now, I can raise my grand kids." She paused. "I wanted you or your sister to have this." She said removing from her coat a key and a deed. "My shop, for you or for any witch who means to make a business, let them feel safe within the wall of my shop. Maybe you all can use my penthouse to party all night." She with a smile. She held out the deed and the key to her.

Talyara listens intently as Thalra pulls a letter our and begins to read it to her. Her frown soon twitches to something akin to a wistful smile. While she would miss her friend she could not blame her for jumping at the chance of seeing her family again, of reestablishing a relationship with her children and her grandchildren. What a beautiful gift to be pardoned and welcomed back home. “Well I am positive we will all miss seeing you around here,” the little witch assures the drow, her eyes widening in surprise as she accepts both the key and the deed. “But Thalra…this…this gift is too much! Surely I can’t accept such a grand gesture!"

Thalra smiles that one last full smile, with all her pearly white teeth involved. "Nothing ever too much, not for the most priceless things in life. Friends, its something a drow rarely has, and you and your sister, were mine. So this gift, is yours. But then again it'll just be a big empty building if I didn't give it away." She stepped forward and gave Talyara a hug. "Give one to your sister for me, and if you go into my bedroom closet sometime, pull the candlestick, I know you witches like spells and cookbooks, for potions, I have a whole book of them." She hugged her. "Goodbye my friend."

Talyara offers a kind smile to Thalra when she insists she accept the gift of the potions shop, the witch carefully folding the document and slipping it along with the key into her back pocket. “Well I will do my best to keep the shop running just as you intended. I know a thing or two about potions,” she teases with a sniffle. It was always hard saying goodbye to a friend but she couldn’t be anything but happy for Thalra. As the drow pulls her into a hug, the little witch is quick to return it, giving her an extra squeeze before the embrace breaks. “Of course I will. I’m sure she will find the situation as equally bittersweet as I do.” Taly toys with the pendant of her necklace, a leather wrapped quartz crystal, before she suddenly pulls it over her head and places it in Thalra’s hand, closing her fingers around it. “I wish you safe travels and send much love to you and your family. May you find the happiness you seek."

Thalra looks down at the leather wrapped quartz crystal. "Thank you, I hope that, you, will be blessed with all the happiness in the world, you deserve it all." She said. "Milady, its time." Said Captain Simon. Thalra grabbed Talyara for one last hug. "I love you, and Taly, thank you and your sister for me," She embraced again and then walked up the gangplank. As the ship would set off she would wave from the ship until she could no longer see the shore. In the end it was bittersweet ending. She would treasure every experience Lithrydale had given her, from the friends she made, the rivals, and the adventures. It was long voyage. It would be that is.

Talyara, of course, accepts the hug from Thalra once more, turning to place a chaste kiss on her cheek. “It was a pleasure knowing you,” she says quietly as a single tear leaks out of the corner of her eye and drips down her cheek. The little witch holds her friend for just a moment longer before the captain is calling for the drow to board and Taly is forces to let go. She gives Thalra a reassuring smile and steps back several paces before hugging her arms over her chest. The witch would stand there and watch as the boat cast off, waving to Thalra should she look back. Only once the ship disappeared into the night would Taly turn on her heel and head back towards town.
