RP:You Named It.... Benedict?
Venturil Wildlands
To the south a large wall of vines exists, to your east and west this rather large medow exists. The sun is shining, and were you perhaps a giant, this would appear to be the perfect place to have a picnic... The grass to both your east and west appears to be moving against the wind, as if perhaps something is stalking you.
Celiann and Vajra's journey was severely delayed by that little... adventure... in the shrub and the unwanted interaction with nature. At this point, the sun was high and burning in this near wasteland environment, which was already far too much for Celiann. She looked incredibly downcast, huffing and puffing with irritation. If her sweat glands could work, she'd be pouring out sweat! But now, they came across the tent the House Brother had so graciously set up. Celiann had anticipated a small little thing, but was surprised to see a rather large; dark billowing tent - made for keeping maximum sunlight out. A shovel was also set in the ground, not too far away, to indicate the spot Celiann would later work on. "Ah... It's... s-s-so w-warm..."
Vajramirne was having issues with the heat as well... if only because that little side-mission of theirs on the way into Venturil had taken quite a lot out of her. Still grinning in satisfaction, the draconian woman tossed her bag down just outside the tent and sighed. "This place... is quite desolate... to say the least." A gust of wind billowed up a wall of dirt, forcing her to quickly shield her eyes. Once it calmed, she moved over and gestured off toward a slightly grassy patch nearby. "If you do not see me for a while," she stated bluntly, "I'll be over there. It has been a long trip, and there doesn't appear to be a latrine anywhere nearby."
Celiann was sort of glad she never really had the need for... those sort of functions. She smiled, however, and gave a little nod of her head. "Um, I'll p-put your things away," but upon attempting to heave the bag up it was clear that her physical strength was certainly lacking - considering her mouth went agape and her back seemed to bend forward. The bags trudged inside and safely put down, she felt instantly cool in the tent and was tempted to just stay there rather than actually work... But the sensation of death underneath the surface of the dirt was too tempting. She could sense it; feel it calling out to her - begging to be summoned. This was going to be one interesting event, that was sure!
Vajramirne trudged her way back over to the tent, ducked inside, and planted a kiss upon Celiann's lips before moving on by to start unpacking her things. "Are you expecting any trouble with this dig, ma'am?" She asked, surprisingly formally. Blushing, she shook her head and let out a bit of a snort. "I think I need to find something more... informal... to call you by in private."
Celiann nodded after a few moments of contemplation, "Y-Yes, um, n-no n-need to be f-formal with me!" she offered a smile of reassurance, as if to say she had meant it. But then she considered that question and had to think... Would there be any trouble with the dig? "Um... M-Maybe predators from a-around the area, b-but that sh-should be all. But I'm n-not w-worried! I h-have you to p-protect me, r-right?"
Vajramirne nodded her head firmly and smiled. "Yes ma'am!" That one was intentional. Honest.
Celiann's slender digits adjusted her spectacles gently, as not to irritate the skin any further, before heading outside. "C-Come on! W-We have a m-monster t-to raise!" she seemed fairly happy with the term, going over to the shovel and lifting it; flopping a few measures of sand a little distance away from her. Her effort was dismal, to say the least! She'd probably end up using a spell...
Vajramirne nodded again, quickly finishing laying out her armor and clothes for the rest of the day before heading outside to observe the dig-site. It was... rather empty, really. With any luck, they wouldn't run into any trouble. Still... watching Celiann attempting to dig up a monster was... a little amusing. She couldn't help but laugh and smile, before quickly moving over to the woman and extending her hand. "Allow me to assist you, ah..." she paused, before glancing aside and shaking her head. "... what do... people... call each other, usually? I've... never had this issue before. Never had anyone to call anything..."
Celiann wasn't really sure how to best answer that. She was ill experienced in this sort of thing, after all! "Oh... Um, I d-don't know, r-really..." She looked at the dirt, deciding that a spell would be much quicker. It would take them closer to where they needed to be. "S-Step b-back, I m-might have a spell that will w-work better than us digging."
Vajramirne did as she was instructed, though she did inch back up and watch curiously. "What sort of a spell is it? I... don't suppose you'd teach me your amazing hole-digging magic, hmm?"
Celiann backtracked a little bit out of the space, whipping her wand forth from the back of her robes. "J-Just watch," she said ominously. The wand was pointed downward at the earth as she focused her energies into it; channelling the direction of her magic through the length of the wand as she spoke: "corrotto!" The earth grumbled and seemed to groan; the first layer beginning to bubble and corrupt. A second word was weaved into the spell: "comprimere!" causing the dirt to compress into tiny little bits; reducing the mass of what was there and bringing them closer to what lurked beneath. "It's c-c-close..."
Vajramirne watched, fascinated, as the necromancer cast her spell. She hadn't really understood the words... but she had certainly seen the effects. And indeed, her spell had been... effective. Moving closer, she peered down into the hole and frowned a bit. "How... how far down is this thing?"
Celiann looked down at the hole, giving a shrug of her shoulder, "N-Not too deep, I think... Um... Not so deep th-that the s-spell won't work." She offered a reassuring smile, before lowering herself to her knees, placing her hands upon the earth to search more specifically for the feeling of the dead. She could sense it: large and old; decrepit and powerful. She shuddered at the thought of raising it! It would be tiresome, but well worth the effort... Given that it would take such an effort, she chose to roll up her sleeves and bite down upon her thumbs once again to draw a line of blood down each forearm. Then she pressed her palm to her hand to slice it: allowing the blood to drip across the earth as she whispered: "accept m-my offering, Death G-God, g-guide me in m-my path." That said, she planted her hands firmly on the ground; aiming to connect with the great corpse below.
Vajramirne fidgeted a bit up above, keeping a careful eye open for signs of anything out of place. There was a rock, way back up near the road, which looked to have been recently disturbed... but Vajra couldn't honestly remember if either she or Celiann had perhaps been the culprit. Another scan of the wasteland revealed nothing, and so she silently slipped down to her knees to run her fingers through the loose ground idly. "Such a curious land... do you know if it was always like this?"
Celiann had no concentration to spare on Vajra's question, her focus completely upon what corpse lurked below. It was massive, she could sense it. Her hands had connected to the earth and she knew the rough direction of her target, and at long last she began to weave this necromantic spell: "risvegliare!" she cried, causing a small 'thrum' to pulse from the earth, as if it were a bad omen. The earth itself began to vibrate slightly, "ringiovanire!" she cried again, this time the earth began to sink in further; far more rapidly and dramatically than before. She sat upright, casting her head skyward to commune with a grander power than herself: "l'essenza della vita!" she cried even louder, which was met with a muffled yet very distinguished roar of a predator below the surface - one that was rapidly rising to meet the pair! Celiann's hands left the earth, curling skywards as she yelled even louder, "aumento!" causing the pristine white of a massive and pointed skull to poke out of the seemingly sinking earth. As soon as the tip of the skull was visible, she pointed both hands towards it, near screaming: "legano a me!" The magical essence could be felt, surging between the necromancer and this massive skeletal being! With the last words spoken, the creature pulled itself out of the sinking earth - revealing a large skeletal wing structure; a pointed and yet toothy beak. An inhumane and, frankly, bestial roar left the creature and an absolutely exhausted yet mad laugh left the necromancer.
Vajramirne hadn't really expected an answer, she was just passing the time while Celiann worked. But when Celiann worked... blessed gods... she -worked-! The creature which erupted out of the depths of the sunken, withering land was... it was... immense. It was unlike anything she'd ever even seen before. There... there were just no words... and so she remained silent, content to watch the Necromancer and her newly raised monstrosity make noise. After a moment, however, she called down into the pit. "There's no way in the Infernal Hells I'm walking -that- thing!"
Celiann actually swayed slightly from her kneeling position, staring at this monstrosity with the sort of love a mother could give to a child. She extended her hand lazily towards it, watching as the creature - who was bound to her through the powers of necromancy - stooped and pressed its beak into her hand. It may have been affection or simply an indication of servitude. She looked over to Vajra, grinning like a maniac, "L-Look! I'm p-petting him!"
Vajramirne grinned right back and laughed. "What a very handsome corpse! I don't suppose there's any way to get it some proper flesh?"
Celiann watched as the creature roared viciously at Vajra's suggestion, before Celiann hushed it softly. "She d-didn't m-mean it, you're p-pretty! Y-Yes you are, y-yes you are!" her fingertips stroked the maw of the beast affectionately, talking to it much like it was a pet dog rather than giant skeletal dinosaur beast that could easily kill her or any who crossed its path!
Vajramirne blinked curiously and shook her head. "It... doesn't want skin? But... wouldn't skin be even better?" Genuinely confused, the draconian woman rose up to her feet and laughed. "I mean, I'm not here to judge. I just thought that mayhaps... uh..." she paused, then shook her head, "What are you going to call it?"
Celiann shook her head, "N-No, he's h-happy without it... It's b-been so long, n-now." She looked over her shoulder to gaze at the woman, smiling at her, "Oh, I d-don't know... B-Benedict sounds p-pretty n-nice."
Vajramirne laughed hysterically and shook her head. "Benedict?" It wasn't bad laughter... she was just genuinely amused that Celiann would pick the same sort of normal, every-day name for a hulking Death-o-Saurus as she would. "It's a great name! I love it!"
Celiann turned to look at the giant creature, smiling so joyfully at it. "D-Do you like th-that? Hmm? B-Benedict?" she even went so far as to rub the side of her face up against the beak, "Y-Yes, you do! M-My little B-Benedict! B-Benny! Ben-Ben!" she actually couldn't help the laughter that poured from her at this point, very happy with the name choice. She looked to Vajra now and said, "I th-think I m-m-might g-go sleep now, though..."
