RP:Wraithen Confrontation

From HollowWiki

(Continued from The Assault on Vuryal's Fortress)

Kasyr s' eyes narrow into little slits upon the total collapse of the Castle, a foul curse issuing from his lips the very moment the 'supposed' Capital of Archmosia disintegrates into ethereal rubble- leaving nothing but the memory of the place in it's stead. What's more, the vampire is more than aware of the shriek of dragons in their wake- those feral dragons which had been lured here with the false promise of sustenance and a wake bearing down upon them. And there was that damnable wraith... "Well, we might not come from this empty handed. Let's go talk with the one dealing ultimatums, shall we, Cherie?"

"I'm not your pet fox, Gnat. Don't call me that," Luffy snaps in response to Kasyr, even as her wings are angled downward and she begins a steep descent. While the screeching of hungry dragons grows nearer, the icy one sets her sights on the wraith below, streaking toward him like a behemoth, ebon hawk. It's lunch time, as far as Luffy is concerned.

Bozrah raises his empty, lifeless eyes to the sky. His face remains devoid of emotion as he raises his clawed hands and once again speaks in his empty, hollow voice. "You have been warned." Jagged, filthy claws which are soaked in a darkness that consumes the light like a ravening lion are pointed at the great beast and its formidable rider, at the same time words in an ancient, evil tongue are heard resounding throughout the bleak landscape where once the castle stood. The wraith's tattered garments float around his body, before a disgusting torrent of putrid magic spews from the extended limbs, hurling upwards at both Kensai and dragon - seeking to devour their flesh like maggots through rotting meat...

Kasyr takes one good look at the vile onslaught the wraith has prepared for the duo before he makes his choice, shoving off of Luffy to send himself spiraling into freefall but away from the mass of vile energies which surged forth from the wraith. Though gravity quickly begins to take hold of the vampire, he focuses upon his trenchcoat first- fighting with one of the sleeves for a few brief moments, before he's able to wrench it free from his body. With his back unobstructed save for the vest he wears, there's nothing left to prevent the violent eruption of a pair of large wings from the Revenants back, the massive leathery appendages giving a single firm beat to liberate themselves from what gore still clings to them. From there, Kasyr simply angles his wings down in a mimicry of Luffys actions, hands clenching tightly in front of his body. It's only when the vampire would be all but prepared to slam into the wraith that he'd choose instead to glide by him- an action that would normally be harmless were it not for the mass of darkness which would solidify in the hybrids awaiting hands, taking shape as a Katana that would be swiped violently towards the wraiths midsection.

Little heed is given to the sudden departure of her rider. The kensai has a tendency to do that midflight, and it's no concern of the dragon's whether he chooses to leap to his doom or not. Rather, she's much more concerned with the foul torrent hurtling toward her, and blocking the view of her target. Luffy, being a particularly stubborn beast, doesn't waste thought or effort upon evasion, and instead merely pulls limbs, wings, and neck tighter around her body, streamlining herself. What's created is a veritable bullet of a dragon to meet the putrid magic head on--quite literately--and punch through the worst of it as a black streak. Stream rises from her icy hide where the corruption clings, but a magical construct feels little in the ways of pain, allowing Luffy to maintain her headlong divebomb toward the wraith. Mere yards from the point of impact, talons are brought up and flexed, preparing to be the first part of her to strike his form before the rest of her behemoth bulk comes crashing down on top. And if Kasyr's in the way, she won't shed a tear over crushing two gnats with one blow.

Bozrah watches as Kasyr throws himself from the dragon, missing the foul, twisted magic. Luffy is not so lucky, yet the huge dragon is hardly effected by the torrents of corruption the wraith had so hastily summoned. Grey eyes that are completely devoid of life watch as Kasyr's wings tear free from his back, angling his falling body towards where Bozrah stands. For just a moment the dragon is ignored, instead full focus given to the Kensai and his oncoming strike. The wraith, one of the Fiend's eldest creations, effortlessly wraps himself in his cloak of invisiblity, before he steps to the side. The katana's strike misses his body, but Kasyr does not. Wraith and revenant violently collide, and the sound of breaknig bones comes from Bozrah's deceased flesh. But life was torn from him years ago by Vuryal; such things as shattered bones matter nothing to him. He takes the force, hopefully dropping Kasyr straight to the ground, before his invisible eyes flash up, seeing the gigantic form of Luffy dangerously close. So with an almost silent curse at the kensai, the wraith hurls himself back. Leaving in his wake a rather visible Kasyr, almost served up and ready for a Luffy sized snack. Bozrah would use his time to move further away and check the damage inflicted upon his body, not that it was much of a concern for a being such as he...

Lahk follows, from the north of Rynvale, the pillar of roiling smoke blossoming skyward from the fallen airship. He is a distant silhouette of a wolf, perched atop a fallen splay of the ruins of Castle Archmosia, from which vantage he watches the specter, serpent and swordsman.

Kasyr both looks and feels a bit discombobulated from the impromptu impact, and yet even he cannot miss the darkness that is engulfing him, the looming shadow which is rapidly expanding across the ground. Duly aware of the biological ballistic missile hurtling towards his position, and the threat it posed, the Kensai draws all his focus inward, before promptly thrusting Gospel forward. Whilst normally such a motion might be futile, in Kasyrs' case it is accompanied by a sudden flaring of electrical energy- the Kensai surging forth from his position in a brilliant flash of lightning. The vampires' gambit ends as swiftly as it had begun, the burst of motion leaving him safe from the direct results of whatever disaster was going to be created by Luffy- and free to peer at his left arm as a chunk of flesh crackles with electricity and Ionizes. With a cursory glance given to his surroundings, Kasyr finds himself unable to locate his adversary again- and thus, he relies upon his extra sense, endeavouring to seek out Bozrahs' emotions through empathy- since his presence would be the only one that Kasyr would be unfamiliar with. Whether he carried some latent malignancy, or was an absolute void bereft of all emotion, the Kensai hopes to gain a relative indication of his position- so that his next maneuver does not simply become a patchwork assault against the landscape. Still clutching his Katana, the vampire simply begins to imbue the natural energies he carries within himself into the blade- forming a wreathe of magic about the weapon which is promptly propelled forth once the Kensai slashes the air. Whether or not Kasyr manages to hit Bozrah doesn't even seem to matter, the Revenant seemingly content to generate as many 'blades' of condensed energy as he can to try and flush the Wraith out of hiding.

Both the damnable gnats having evaded her talons, Luffy rights herself from the crater born of her impact with an indignant roar, hurling chunks of earth and former-castle heedlessly in every direction. It's only once the dragon has ceased thrashing and is back on her feet does she realize she's minus a leg, left foretalon shattered into diamond dust by the force of her crash. An irritated huff escapes the glacial construct at the inconvenience and ruby eyes flash with malice as they sweep across the area, seeking her evasive target. Although the wraith is no where to be seen, Kasyr is easily spotted with his flashy display. Luffy can only assume the kensai has located the unseen wraith, or else he's lost his mind and is merely attacking air; and while as much as she'd love to believe it's the latter, the dragon will trust in the former. Flexing her serpentine tail then, Luffy thunders forward on three limbs, shaking the earth beneath all their feet as she swiftly approaches Kasyr in a headlong dash. With no more than a sharp clack of her jaws as warning to Kasyr, the dragon halts her charge, talons digging into the ground and twisting violently as she forces her momentum to abruptly change, pushing it all into a wide, spiny sweep of her whiplike tail along the area the kensai's been harassing. Even if her lengthy tail doesn't find the wraith, if he's in the relative area, he'll at least have a small tidal wave of uprooted earth following the swing's wake to deal with.

Bozrah is old. He has served Vuryal since he first was gifted his fiendish body. And unlike his fellow wraiths, Bozrah exists in the space between blind servant and freedom - his emotions are limited to hatred, his sense of choice shackled by uncomprimising loyalty to the TimeLord. But as such, Kasyr would be able to feel his rough direction. As the blades of light come from Gospel, the wraith doesn't attempt evasion. He sheds his cloak of invisiblity and locks his gaze on the swordsman, letting the Kensai see who it is he fights, what it is he seeks to destroy. The 'blades' of light strike true, and with an arrogant ease they tear through deceased flesh; chunks of the wraith dropping to the ground, where they shatter into nothingness upon hitting the stones. Many times he is struck, before Luffy's whip-like tail snaps across the distance between them. With vicious velocity it strikes the wraith front on, hurling him from his feet, out into the vast, desolate landscape where once Castle Archmosia stood. Weirdly it would flop along the ground, rolling over and over until it is impaled upon a vicious, twisted rock. And only then does the voice start to ring out. A hideous sound; grotesque with its tangible layers of malicious hatred, "Fools!" In ground that was torn up by Luffy's tail, tendrils of smoke rise up and loosely form a body-like shape. Two spheres that resemble Bozrah's empty grey eyes appear in the darkness and stare at Kensai and dragon, before the voice sounds again, seeming to come from everywhere at once. "You came here for war and found nothing! Who guards your loved ones, Kasyr? You fight for dirt and stones... Do you not think this is what my master wanted with this ruse?" That laughter sounds again, vicious and cruel, "When your name is added to his Book of Souls, I will come for you... You are mine! But for now... Bask in your foolishness as your loved ones learn what it is to suffer..." The darkness remains for just a moment, before it vanishes like smoke in a breeze; leaving in its wake nothing but a sense of lingering malice...

Lahk watches death return to death with the departure of the ethereal wraith's form. He bounds smoothly from his perch of rubble and passes into the wilds.

Kasyr s' reaction to Luffys 'warning', and the malicious glee she exudes giving the fact that one of her limbs is rapidly approaching, is enough to warrant the hybrid changing his battle strategy, if only slightly. With a simple adjustment, a swing that had been formerly destined towards the wraith is instead redirected towards the ground, the sudden violent release of magical energy creating enough concussive force to clear the hybrid off the ground. From there, he'd simply focus upon Gospels shape, willing the damned blade from the guise of a Katana he so preferred into the bulkier guise of a broadsword. Thus, when the spray of turf and rubble flies through the air on the wake of Luffys tail, the hybrid is able to remain at least somewhat sheltered by his blade- despite the fact that he's still flung back towards the ground. With a violent crash he'd hit the ground, rolling for a few brief moments before he'd slam his blade into the earth and forcibly bring himself to a halt- bracing himself just in time to be barraged with a 'villainous dialogue'. "I have faith in her. It's as simple as that." Whether or not the wraith is still present doesn't particularily seem to matter to the hybrid. Whatever the case, with no malignant undead entity to harass him, this simply leaves the vampire to begin dabbing at his forehead, and the numerous bumps, bruises and cuts his tumble left him, "Luffy. Faith or not, would tu be so courteous as to go retrieve her. I have some collecting of my own to do..et investigation. Et it would hardly do for her to be assaulted by someone other than you, non?"

A harsh snort comes as the dragon's acceptance of the order, even as she sends a suspicious look toward the distant, broken body of the wraith, essence having slipped its skin like some ethereal snake. Another snort, and Luffy turns her back on the sight, and Kasyr, to begin a three-legged trot away from where the castle once stood. It's only after she's cleared the crash site that she takes to the air, well away from the flock of warring dragons that have set upon the burning airship. As much as she itches to join her saurian kin in their free-for-all, she has a job to do for her partner-in-crime. Although... he never said she couldn't retrieve Satoshi without use of force or fangs...
