Synopsis: After having been separated for over five years, Lanara stumbles into Kelay Tavern only to discover her long lost sister, Talyara sitting there.

Kelay Tavern

Lanara steps into the tavern, the door smacking against her rear, and projecting her a few feet forward. With an annoyed glance over her shoulder, she sighs softly, and shakes her head. Chocolate brown eyes scan the patrons, before her gaze falls upon a pretty half elf, seated at a far off table. Speechless, and somewhat breathless, the elf inches further into the tavern, clutching her hand to heart. "T...Ta..." Unable to take another step, the bewildered brunette collapses into a vacant chair, and begins to fan her face with her free hand.

Talyara hears the door of the tavern open but keeps her emerald hues upon the book in her hands. She licks her finger and turns the yellowing page and tips back on her chair, causing the front legs to rise off of the ground. A stumbling voice catches her attention and she lifts her head towards the newcomer. A beautiful elf had entered, long hair curtained around her pretty face. Talyara immediately let her chair fall back to the ground with a thud as she narrows her eyes at the woman. “Wh-what did you say?” She manages to stammer out.

Lanara continues to pant slightly, her left hand clutching her heart a tad tighter, while her right hand continues to dramatically fan her fair face. Swallowing hard she blinks back tears and squints slightly, trying to see past the crystalline droplets that were now freely flowing. "TALLY?!" She finally states, though her voice is several octaves higher than usual, and there's a deep urgency in her tone. Now standing on shaky legs, she nervously approaches the half elf, arms extended. "Is that really you?! I have searched... For years... And dreamt of this day every night. You have no idea what I've been through, the places I've gone, the heart that has been broken, since we last parted..."

Talyara stands quickly from her chair, knocking it completely off its legs, causing it to topple to the ground. She frowns at the elf, as she continues to look at her, unsure. She shakes her head causing chestnut curls to float across her face. “It can’t be you, Lanara. I haven’t seen my sister in what, nearly five years?” The half elf’s face grows crimson as angry tears fall down her cheeks. “Who are you really? Who sent you here?” She slowly begins to back away from the elf, refusing to believe it is her beloved sister.

Lanara nips her lower lip, shakes her head, and quickly closes the distance between herself and Talyara. "No... It -is- me, Tally. It's me! Lanara! Please, don't tell me that you've forgotten your big sister? I mean... I know we look the same in age now, but that's because I age a little slower than you... And you were just becoming a woman when I left for the academy... But, you couldn't have forgotten me that quickly? Really?" Her voice trails off, leaving only the soft weeping of the two sisters in the tavern, for several moments, before she raises her head, once more. "Tally... Father sent me... He's rebuilding the town. I don't even understand how the drow managed to slaughter everyone... And mother is gone?! I'm... I'm so broken. And now you don't even remember me?!" Beside herself, she falls to her knees, covering her face as she sobs. As her hands are raised, a small rune tattoo is evident on the inside of her left wrist.

Talyara watches as the elf before her breaks down. Time seems to slow as bits of what she is saying sink into Tally’s mind. Father sent me. Mother’s gone. The academy. Talyara’s gaze follows the elf as she falls to her knees sobbing. Suddenly she grabs her right wrist, as her rune tattoo begins to tingle, as if her arm were falling asleep. Tally falls to her knees in front of the elf and grabs her left wrist and notices that she, too, has the same rune tattoo. The half elf gasps, as she leans back on her heels, staring at her sister in disbelief. “Lanara...It really is you…” She whispers.

Lanara raises her head, and presses her wrists against Talyara's, the two girls feeling a brief cooling sensation, before she lowers her arm. "Yes... It's me. I have looked for you, everywhere. This was my last stop... I was getting ready to give up the search. I thought you perished with mother... Father wasn't sure, either. He said he thought you ran off, but couldn't be certain. He's turned into quite the politician these days; I couldn't even stay the night. He's... He's changed. You are all that I have left in this world, my Tally. Please, let's never part again!" Shyly now, she opens her arms and focuses her tear stained gaze on her little sister.

Talyara moves into her sister’s arms and clutches her tightly, unable to believe this turn of events. Earlier today, the half elf was completely alone in this world, her family completely gone. And now? Her big sister returned after five years. Guilt begins to bubble up inside the witch and she lets out a sob. Finally after a few moments, she manages to choke out, “I tried to save mother, I’m sorry, I tried!”

Lanara wraps her arms tightly around her sister's petite form, and runs her fingers up and down her back. "Shh... It's alright, sister. I know... I know, you would do all that you could to save someone you loved. But we have each other now... It will be alright." Suddenly she stiffens, the empath feeling a moment of extreme tightness in her chest, causing her to break from the embrace. Inhaling deeply, she centers herself, and takes several relaxing breaths. "Sorry, Tally... I guess in my moment of excitement, I forgot to block out the emotions of those surrounding me... I felt your pain..." That said, and knowing she was likely causing her sister more pain with her words, the empath quickly extends her arm. "Let me take away your pain, even if it's just for a short while." Gently, she slips her hand beneath Talyara's throat and closes her eyes. Within seconds, a small orb of light passes from the elf and enters the heart of the half elf, sending soothing sensations into the woman's body.

Talyara’s arms fall to the side and she closes her eyes as Lanara sends her healing energy into her. The muscles of the half elf's body begin to relax almost immediately. Had Lanara been paying close attention to her sister's appearance, she would have noticed a small amount of healing bruises along her collarbone, as well as an angry looking scar across the length of her left forearm. Tally's eyes flutter open and she offers a soft smile to her sister. "Thank you, Lana..."

Lanara leans in and kisses Talyara on the tip of her nose, grinning. "You're more than welcome, my Tally." Upon closer inspection, the woman runs her pointer finger along her sister's collarbone and down her forearm. "Who did this?" She whispers, through grit teeth, and a clenched jaw. "Who will I be hexing this evening?"

Talyara gnaws on her bottom lip, and casts a nervous glance around the room. “The scar was from the attack. When the drow went to kill mother, I lunged at him and he cut me pretty badly and I lost a lot of blood. As for these…”Her fingers trail along the bruises. “I had an unfortunate run in with a pyromaniac, but he’s dead now.”

Lanara glares at the slightly fading bruises. "Lucky bastard that he's dead... Better that, than facing my wrath." Feigning a soft smile, she tears her gaze from Tally's arm and meet's her sister’s emerald gaze. "Sister! We are together again, at last! Where are you staying? I will get a job, and save up, so we can eventually own a home, together.... “Her voice trails off; as she thinks of the broken home they were forced to leave behind. She also is silently fuming at the drow that hurt her sister, though she remains silent, not wanting to cause Talyara further upset.

Talyara smiles softly at her sister and nods. "Aye, I was very lucky that someone was there to save me..." She pauses and offers a sigh, before standing up and reaching her hand down to help her sister up. "I'm staying in Rynvale; it's the beach town here. My...uh...a gentleman is letting me use a cottage out there as long as I tend to his orchards."

Lanara quirks a brow, shock evident on her face. "You're tending to a man's orchards? Is that code for something... You know?!" Shaking her head, she rises to her feet, rather quickly and awkwardly. "My little sister, in love before me?!" With a grin, she heads for the door. "I have to get out there, and make some gold; I will need a place to stay. I love you, sister. We will play catch up, later."
