Summary: Kailani meets Emilia and joins the Healer's Guild.

House of Ara

Kailani was confused. Or misinformed. Or out of touch. Or possibly all three? Why? The druid woman has managed to make her way out of the forest and into civilization with the hope of making contact with the Healer's Guild and her confusion and misinformation has her coming to the House of Ara for just that purpose. The reclusive woman is not entirely sure if she should just meander into the space like she did when she was joining the Devout's Guild. This place somehow felt more personal to the hermit-ish woman, like it might not be appropriate to just waltz right on in. The blue-haired woman furrows her brows together in thought. She has spent far too long living on her own in the wilderness, these social nuisances should not be so challenging for her. After a moment of awkward deliberation, Kailani lifts a hand and knocks upon the door to see who might answer. And whomever does will not be greeted by a woman of impressive stature. Kailani was of average height, athletic build, with the half-elf's most notable feature being her vivid blue-hair.

The house of Ara didn’t have an actual person that answered the knock. The door itself opened on its own to allow the stranger entrance into the always open House of Ara. It was a fine medical establishment over the different remodels it had undergone in the past years. Sitting at the counter what looked to be a spider leapt up into action to greet Kailani. It was no spider, but an animated right hand made out of black ice. It waved a finger at the woman before skittering off. Righty would pause to see if the lady followed before taking off up the stairs toward the study. Emilia sat up in her personal study within the halls of Ara with her nose buried in a book about herbal lore of plants thought to be lost to the ages. From head to toe the woman was just as white as a sculpture made of snow with hits of blue to suggest she was in fact real. Long locks of white had been turned into a dreaded locks while either side was shaved off. These long tresses were tied up atop her head into a messy bun. The room looked small even though it was one of the largest in the building. This was because of all the stuff within the room from the walls lined with bookcases stuffed to the brim with reading material to the long table running one length covered in notes pages and a random assortment of objects. In the middle of the room over white tile floor was a metal table. Yet, it was in the far corner of this room that the snow white maiden sat in her cushioned chair with feet propped up on a small end table that too was covered in books and oddities. From where Emilia sat the woman lifted her icy blue gaze from the words to look upon the blue haired woman brought to her doorway by Righty. Lowering the book to her lap those death purple-blue hued lips curled into a gentle smile, “Why, hello there. I am Emilia. How can I assist you, Miss?”

Truth be told, Kailani would have been far more at ease with a spider. The half-elven woman has seen many things in her years, even if a majority of those years were spent in solitude in the forests, but she has never seen an animated hand. Yet, it was not a concept that she found to be so foreign to her that she she did not heed the hand's command. She assumes it to be some form of necromancy, though she finds that to be a slightly odd sight in a medical facility. Kailani followed, and in following she is led to a woman as white as snow. This is a sight that brings a smile to Kailani's lips, if only because she so often seems to pull attention on herself because her hair was as deep of blue as the ocean and her eyes matched. It was a smile of relief, but that smile fades fast. These expressions are not common with Kailani. "Actually. It is me that is hoping to be of assistance. Well. More assistance that I have been known to be in the past." This is not an implication that Kailani is the sort who usually is up to no good, but rather the sort who tends to keep to herself. "I have been told that if one were hoping to join the Healer's Guild, it might be good to pay this location a visit. That there is a chance I might bump into one of it's members here. I am hoping that is true, for I am hoping to prove my merit and join it's ranks. My name is Kailani." This is where most might think to approach and shake hands. Kailani doesn't, her hermitish habits tend to get the better of her.

Emilia didn’t move from her seat as the blue haired woman began to ramble about her reasons for coming to Ara today. Listening a smile grew across those tinted lips as it was wonderful news to hear that there wasn’t any present impending danger that needed to be tended to, but a simple eager soul wanting to take a step into the ranks of the Healer’s Guild. Sliding a ribbon into the book the Genasi closed it and sat it atop one of the stacks before her while she stood from her seat. If Kailani counted the mess of locks massed atop her head then the woman before her would be over five feet and most definitely shorter than it counting true height. The healer was petite to the extreme as if wind would knock her child sized figure over with a strong gust. It was evident now that the Right hand scampering about the study belonged to this woman who sported a stump above where a wrist would be sharing the black ice tinge to it. Emilia did not move to shake hands with Kail as she rarely touched anyone with the nature of her frozen touch, but she did a slight bow to her. “I am Emilia, Leader of the Healer’s Guild. It is a pleasure to meet you, Miss Kailani. You have indeed found a member today here and the ranks are always open to those wishing to learn to tend to the world around us, both in the magical and non-magical ways. Pray tell, which art of mending do you possess?”

Kailani clasps her hands neatly in front of her as she answers Emilia's question. "Both." For a moment, it seems like Kailani might offer no further explanation...and for a moment she was really going to just leave the answer at that. But she eventually comes to the realization that her answer is far from sufficient as it is completely lacking in details. "I do not claim to be an expert in either, but I am capable of both. Were I to rate myself, I would say that I am more knowledgeable in non-magical healing. I have spent more time studying plant and wildlife than I have honing any magical healing abilities I might possess. Were someone on the brink of death, that would be outside of my current capabilities...But both, depending on the request of whomever is the patient." While Kailani answered, she was analyzing Emilia. The ice genasi was shorter than Kailani, more petite, and yet the druid could sense that Emilia was strong with her magic which in itself made her quite formidable, even if she was as tiny as a child.

Emilia crossed the room to bring herself to stand across from Kailani offering her single left hand to the woman for a shake, “Welcome to the Guild, Miss Kailain.” The hand offered emitted a natural chill the closer one got to touching the Genasi, however shaking a hand with her was like holding pieces of ice in your hand if only colder. A gentle trace of frost left behind in the wake of her touch to another’s flesh, should Kail accept and shake it for a most brief moment. If there was an entry test it seems that the elven woman had passed it. “There is nothing wrong with being more skilled in one area or the other. Just as there is nothing wrong with only being skilled in one art. It is the knowing of one’s skillset that makes all the difference. Trying to use a skill that is not ready or known can lead to the death of another. It is our goal and mission to do the opposite of that. We strive to mend the wounded, even if we don’t always agree with the injured. Unless it is of dire nature, we do not take sides in this line of work. If you wish to take up studies on both arts please let me know, however until you have gained a more solid hold on one or the other I do suggest picking one to focus on first.” It is with this suggestion she made her way over to her desk to dig around in a drawer. Procuring an item after a long moment of searching. Returning Em would hand it over to Kailani to signify her entrance into the ranks.

Kailani took no issue with shaking Emilia's hand when it was presented. It is not clear if the druid would have been affected by Emilia's icy nature were she exposed to the full brunt of it -- it may very well be that there are not many creatures who were not predisposed to the colder climates that would survive. Kailani does not mind a slight chill. The frost on her hand is amplified in size, through no fault of Emilia's...and then that ball of ice rapidly melts into a ball of water, only for it's form to shift a final time with the water being completely evaporated away. No water mess will be left on this floor. This was just the druid playing around with the elemental magic she was already inclined to. "Long term, I will be pursuing studies in both, but I can easily respect your wishes to put a focus on one over the other." Kailani essentially already has been. "As I have already expressed I am more proficient in non-magic, then that would be the most logical choice for me to focus my studies on. Thank you for accepting me into your ranks."

Emilia watched the ice shift into the different states before vanishing as if it had never been before. There was a small shrug on the shoulders as she replied, “Just because one is more skilled in one area does not mean that it is the most logical choice to focus on. If I were a fighter that was good at hand to hand combat but lacked the skills with a weapon, I would not put my focus on my strengths, but on my weakness to balance myself out. Yet, the choice is yours to make and one that you can switch when you are ready. I shall send a letter out to one Miss Penelope to have you meet with her to study the non-magical arts with at a schedule that befits the both of you. I would also like it if you were to meet with a magical healer at least once a moon phase to get in a lesson.” Returning to her chair the other might note the faint frost prints left in her wake on the floor this time. Sliding back into her hair the Genasi smiled at Kailani, “You are most welcome and thank you for gracing this Guild with your unique talents. It will be a pleasure to heal along side you.”

Kailani offers no additional commentary to the conversation. A hermit she might prefer to be, but there was once a time that she was young and she has not forgotten how things work with superiors. Emilia seemed to put an end to their conversation, tying it off with a neat and pretty little ribbony bow. The blue haired woman dips her head in respect of Emilia's wishes, "The same to you. Enjoy the rest of your evening." Without further adieu, Kailani shows herself to the exit.
