RP:Unbaked Sorcery

From HollowWiki

This is a Healer's Guild RP.

Summary Reoh and Sabrina get to meet for the first time. It isn’t even unpleasant!

Reoh had a hell of a time finding the headquarters of the Healers' Guild. Not because it was hidden or anything, but because most of the people she tried to talk to refused to talk to her. Evidently they thought she was up to something nefarious. Racists, the lot of them. Eventually, she was given its location and made her way there. She knocked on the door, wearing in a lacy pink dress, with a tote bag slung over her shoulder and a covered plate in her hands.

Sabrina is sitting in the corner of the main hall with a book. It was a slow night and she only looks up to see Mr. Fennigan approach the door. “The House of Ara is always open.” He bellows formally as the door is swung open to reveal the little miss in her pink ensemble. Sabrina smirks at how everyone has taken to the new battlecry, well, not so new but somehow it had finally caught on. Mei sits straight as an arrow at the service desk, certain that she would be giving many directions since the new House opened to the public. Sadly, the signs, up to this point, had been quite efficient. Complete with arrows and everything.

Reoh blinked up at Mr. Fennigan. She didn't react to the call, but offered up the plate. Atop the cloth cover was a pinned piece of paper, and under the cloth was a pile of cookies. The note, should it be unpinned and unfolded would read, "For Emilia, as thanks, from Reoh." And beneath it, the recipe for the cookies. Chocolate, oats, peanut butter were the main ingredients, and there was no need for baking. What sorcery was this?!

Sabrina closed her book and sat up in her chair, tall ceilings and hollow halls carried the delicate voice to keen elven ears and the uttering of a name gains Sabrina’s attention. Her legs are crossed, though she still manages to slouch into the corner of the oversized chair. Fin Fennigan turns his head back to Sabrina as if questioning if this action was acceptable. There was a clear rule regarding taking payments within the higher ranks of the Guild. But, with a short nod he understood this gift was acceptable and instead of taking it from Reoh he steps aside. With a large sweeping motion the Fermin was invited in.

Reoh shifted nervously, but stepped in. She looked up at Fennigan, then at Mei, then at Sabrina. She wasn't sure who to approach. She eventually placed the plate on the nearest table and pulled a notebook and pencil from her bag. She scribbled something down and handed it to Fennigan. "I'm sorry, I'm deaf," it read. "I just wanted to drop these off for Emilia. Who should I leave them with?" She held out the pencil and notebook, in case he wanted to respond.

Sabrina watched her every move in perfect silence. Fin closes the door neatly behind the girl but Mei is the most greety one of the bunch, where Fennigan seemed most polite in a formal fashion. The small preadolescent elf girl bounces off her seat and drops behind the high counter so only the top of her silver hair can be seen, adorned with a bright blue bow that traveled around the counter’s edge. When she came about, she was small, thin, and typically elvish, but when she spoke the elegance would be lost to her audience. Her mouth was moving. Cheerful, the tip of the head denoted pleasantries but also that maybe she thought that Reoh might be dumb. She mouthed something about ‘brave’ and ‘Kind’ and ‘Larket’ but for deaf person it might not have made much sense. Fin takes the note, glistening brown eyes taking in the words with a shrug as it is folded neatly and taken to Sabrina. She gives it a quick glance and thin legs slither from the seat until she is brought to stand. Reoh is approached, taken in, and offered a handshake by way of gloved hand. Still, she had said nothing. Fin writes down a response and hands it back to Reoh. “Emilia will be grateful that her services are appreciated, and appreciates the gift very much.” An Elvish token for thanks is elaborately scrawled on the bottom of the note as if practiced to muscle memory.

Reoh watched the elvish girl carefully, but she was so bad at lip-reading. She only caught a few words, and wondered what the full sentence had been. She looked back to Sabrina and shook the gloved hand, offering a smile. Well, they weren't screaming and chucking heavy objects at her. That was a good sign. She read Fin's response and nodded, then wrote a quick one of her own. She started to hand the notebook back, then quickly added more. "Tell her I said hello. Also, she asked that I invite her to my next performance. I fight for coin, you see. Anyway, tell her to be in Cenril Town Square next weekend if she wants to see me go toe-to-toe with a bunch of drunken human men. If nothing else, she might have more grateful patients."

Sabrina steps back for the exchange, and instead of responding via written word Fin simply nods as a gesture of acceptance to this contractual conveyance of information. “Whats it say?” Mei asks the Elfess, and she explains the mild handicap to the prodigy in Sylvan tongue. There was no risk offending anyone when the three people present who were able to hear her understood quite clearly. And a correction. “What does… not whats.” There is a firm and motherly concern in Sabrina’s bodily tone. Slowly Reoh might begin to understand exactly who was officially in charge here. Mei nods, accepting her correction and goes back to the desk to await the next person in hopes that they were either lost or bleeding. The Master Healer now stands with her hands crossed in front of her and a questioning glance at Reoh, as if to ask ‘Do you require anything more.’ She was not rude about it, which would normally be odd if she had not reformed so far from her previous mannerisms. Truly, she considered the Fermin’s needs. Larket was a dangerous place for her kind to this day, especially this late at night.
