Scenic View of Hollow

This small path breaks out from the sparse trees and becomes an open area on this cliff. People come from all over Hollow to look off of this edge and the view is amazing. As you stand you become slightly dizzy from the great height. Such a sight your deprived eyes have never seen before. As you walk toward the edge of the cliff, you notice small signs of a great battle, an array of booted footprints here a spot of blood there. Stepping to the edge of the cliff, a great slab of stone has been ripped free of the ground, and where it had been, there is nothing but a hole in the earth sloping ever downward to the edge. Creeping out over the edge you can see a heap of shattered rocks and piled up earth at the bottom. Something powerful had devestated this rocky cliff face. tearing your eyes away from this destruction, you can gaze over the most of the land. Towards the south you can see the mountain path you've once traveled. So small it looks from here, yet your legs can tell you differently. To the east you can see a great forest of trees, obviously being Sage Forest, with the little town of Kelay deep within. Beyond the edge of Sage Forest you can see the mountains to the north, although the path to the small town of Larket is not visible from this vantage point. At the very edge of the horizon you can just make out the beginning of Milious Planes, and beyond that you know is the great city of Cenril. You take in the wondrous view and wonder what this place must look like at night under the canopy of stars, lights glowing from the towns below and east of here. To the west is where you came, a mountain path. A small cliff in the area seems to lead up to a hill.

Tyler stands in silence at the edge of the scenic view, arms crossed and toes dangling over the edge. A light rain falls across the landscape leaving the lone human soaked with wet hair falling across his face as he stares to the land far below. "You'll kill us both, you know?~" A swift exhale is offered through his nostrils as Tyler closes his eyes tightly. "What you doing here?", "You tell me.~" A figure appears just over his left shoulder. The entity dressed in decorative bone robes, it's voice echoing with each sentence and a visage that is a complete replica of the illusionists' though sporting severe burns and scars. "Why do you care for these people?~", "Person.", "Person then. Why does she matter?~" Caramel hues expose themselves once more to continue their stare across Hollow, teeth come into contact with flesh as a sigh is given. "I love her.", "Do you?~","Yes.","How do you know?~". The ever present lump in his throat is forced down as the human struggles to find a response to justify his feelings though a logical one is left unsaid. "I just do.", "How?~ You've never known love before, yes?~", "That's the thing. You don't know it until you feel it. I feel it.", "But you're hurting.~", "...Yes.", "You didn't hurt when you were alone.~", "I had nothing to hurt for." Arms fall to the sides as the male turns to face his companion, though as his eyes set upon him it seems as if Skylei stands before him. "Is it worth it?~", "You're a bastard.", "You're the one doing it, you torture yourself needlessly.~" The figure shifts as it's visage is returned to the damaged replication of the male and approaches him as Tyler turns back to the edge once more. "You've better things to worry about than those who claim they care for you. What of gold?~", "What of it?", "Have you thought of my proposal?~" A moment of silence is offered before the human nods in agreement. "I have.", "And?~", "I haven't decided... but, I feel it's likely. I won't hurt them.", "No one's asking you to hurt them.~" The bone covered figure reaches out to hold Tyler's hand, wrapping torn digits around his palm in an embrace. "We've got to think of us, of you, Tyler.~", "I won't leave her.", "I don't ask you too.~", "Then what is it you seek?". The two turn and lock eyes to allow a second of thought before the dark one speaks. "Happiness.~" Tyler focuses on the cliff's edge once more and fails to try and numb his body to the pain, both physical and emotional. His hand would suddenly fall to his side, signaling that the apparition had left his side. Tyler was alone again. Abandoned by his thoughts, his own creation. As he looked out over the edge the urge to jump remained real though as eyes closed to hide from the world the image appeared in his mind once more. The wood elf.

Skylei is absolutely drenched. Dark hair clings to her face, framing the pale skin with an ebony border and heavy circles ring both eyes. Clothes are waterlogged and as she walks her shoes let out an undignified squelch. How long she's been out in the rain is anyone's guess, as is where she slept last night. She'd left Chartsend in pursuit of Tyler the previous night and had not yet returned to her home city. Nor had she gone to the tavern where she had shared that little room with Tyler. From the damp, mossy smell of her clothes it can be assumed that the half-elf spent the night at the mercy of the elements. Sky doesn't seem to have noticed that she is sodden to the skin and looking an absolute wreck. Nay, she simply grits her teeth and pulls her lips into a tight grimace as she carries on her walk up the hill. She's been revisiting every spot that she and Tyler had spent time at since they met in the foolish belief that he wanted her to find him. He had to want her to find him. He -loved- her. That is the mantra that she forces her head to replay as she pushes herself up the hill and out onto the cliffside. She stops dead when she sees his figure. It is obscured a little by distance and rain, but she knows it is him on the cliff edge. She cannot hold back the gasp and the sharp intake of breath that makes her feel dizzy and as though she was going to faint at any second. What can she do now? What can she say? What if it isn't fixable? The half-elf longs to turn back and run away to a place where she can hide with her daydreams of a perfect life with the human and doesn't have to face the ugly reality that stands before her. Fight or flight, Sky? Now was the time to choose.

Tyler raises his hands from his sides to bring them into focus, the man turing them over multiple times examining where mangled flesh had been mended in a matter of moments. Idle thoughts continue to run rampant through his mind as he attempts to reason with himself. The rain begins to fall at a heavier pace and his arms drop back to the side. Digging his boot around into the earth at the edge the male finally seems to make up his mind; he will live to see another day. Questions begin to ring as he ponders, why continue fighting? Though when he turns on his heel to make his leave he believes he has found the answer. Skylei stands off in the distance, at least, her image. Tyler shakes his head as he tries to control his gift, feeling his mind had caused him to conjure her figure against his will. He begins moving to leave the scenic area but is pulled into her direction. The distance would close between the two until Tyler stood just before Skylei and his eyes seemed damaged, tired and emotionless. As he faces the woman he notes the emotion in her face, a hint of fear and it clicks; This was no illusion. The stale expression doesn't change except for his eyes they begin to fill with tears and a shiver is given through his jaw as the man lunges to toss both arms around the Wood Elf and without a moment to spare, cries.

Skylei doesn't move as Tyler turns and begins to walk. She stands rooted to the spot with pure unadulterated fear. If he shouted at her, she could tolerate that. Even if he turned to her and simply told her that he hated her. She could live with that. The thing that she feared wasn't his anger, in fact she felt as though she might welcome it at this moment; it was little less than she felt she deserved. What she feared was that he might ignore her. He might look straight at her and then straight through her as though she is completely invisible and of no consequence. If he did that then the half-elf thought she might die. As he closes the distance between the two of them, Sky begins to shake, be it from the cold, the rain or the fear that has engulfed her entire being. And then he is right before her, looking right at her. She stops breathing for the seconds it takes before he throws his arms around her and begins to cry. She would embrace him back with the same fervour as he holds her, but no tears fall from her eyes. She just feels numb.

Tyler feels as if his insides are twisting, bending and breaking all at the same time. His grip tightens around the half elf and he embraces her. "You're making a mistake~." The voice rings in his head and he opens his eyes only for a moment to see the same figure from before standing only four feet from the couple. Eyes shut to block the view of the being as Tyler allows a few more moments of silence, excluding his sobbing, between the elf and himself. As he breaks the embrace a glance is offered to see the apparition once again faded, he pulls back and looks to Skylei once more and shakes his head as he continues to beat himself up. His mouth moves to speak though only a squeak is offered before the man is forced to sit on the muddied ground due to his legs shaking uncontrollably. He is hit with a feeling of shame as his face falls into his hands to shield himself from Skylei's view, he was sick of her seeing him like this.

Skylei keeps a tight grip on Tyler whilst the human fights against his inner demons. She still remains tearless, but the tight grimace is finally broken and her facial expression when Tyler backs away is one of complete and utter defeat. She feels worse than she has ever felt in her life and yet, here he is, standing before her and holding her. Why does she feel as though she has just been sentenced to her own execution? The knot in her stomach tightens, causing the half-elf to experience the burning sensation of bile rising in her throat. Swallowing it back down with a shudder she would look back over to the human. He squeaks and then sits on the ground, in spite of the fact that it has been turned into a quagmire by the rain. Standing over him, rain pouring down her face and off her clothes, the half-elf feels her stomach twist as he covers her face from her eyes yet again. All that grit, that determination to find him and make him see that they were meant to be together has been leached away from her body and soaks into the ground like the fallen rain. She lets her body echo her mental state and falls to the ground beside her, curling her knees to her chest and placing her head upon them.

Tyler struggles with panic to find the right things to say, every cavity of his mind being torn apart as he pleads with himself to speak to say anything. The world around him seems to cease in its existence, he can no longer feel the rain nor the wind or... anything. The human is once again blocked by his own mentality and vicious disease that plagued his quest to find purpose and joy in life. Skylei sat not even a foot away from him, she had followed him, she came upon her own choosing and the only thing stopping the man from making it right was himself. Hands move from his face to brush through soaked hair and nails begin to dig into his scalp as he questions his sanity with bated breath as he finds constant insults and obscenities being shouted in his mind. The wall has been hit as his nails release and the human forces a deep inhale before snapping his head to face the woman before him, despite his anger, sorrow, confusion and questionably, madness he opens his mouth to speak. His voice rushes out as he strains to fit every single word in one breath. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything. I'm sorry for leaving. I didn't want too. I never wanted too. I don't know why I did. I made a mistake. It's all I do, I make mistakes. The tournament, the demon, the dragon, the-the-the everything. I hate this. I hate doing this. I hate myself for doing this. It's not what I want. All I want is you. I know I'm a fool, and I know I'm an idiot, and I know that I act on impulse without thinking properly and I-I-I know that I'm a bother and a liability and-and-and a-a constant worry, but I don't mean to be." A sharp inhale is taken as Tyler feels light headed from the pushing of his vocals. His eyes close for a moment to let his heart rate settle, upon reopening he continues. "I love you. I love you more than anything. In fact, you're the only -thing- I've ever had any emotion for. I want to be with you, I want nothing more to be with you. I don't care who knows. I don't care if people find out who I am. I want people to see us and know that Tyler and Skylei are a couple. A happy couple. The-the-the perfect couple. I can't promise that I won't screw up. In fact, I can likely guarantee that I will. It's who I am, It's kinda' my profession to be quite honest." Tyler's eyes shift to face behind the woman as the figure has appeared once more and is shaking it's head with severe disappointment though the human simply snaps back to Skylei. "If people are going to know who I am then so should you. You know my name and I'm positive you've seen my issues... they go far deeper. Ever since my elimination from the tournament I've found myself thinking damned evil things, things that would make your skin crawl, all of this just because-because I find myself with some sick fetish of gaining coin and I'm unable to make it legitimately. I'm sick, to be quite honest. So sick that I'm willing to risk losing the one person that's managed to give me a moment of their time since I've been brought into this miserable little life destined to sit on the side lines and watch everyone else live happy lives while I'm stuck being... me!" His last word is said with a shout as another deep inhale is taken and he sits before the wood elf, shaking violently as he expects her to finally realize that he is far too much to handle and not worth it. He expects her to up and leave. His chest rises and falls as his heart can clearly be seen beating through it. Maybe leaving the cliff side was a bad idea.

Skylei stays curled up in her little ball as she listens intently to Tyler's tirade. There are things that shock her, though some of them are probably not the things that should shock her. He wanted people to know they were a couple? That at least served to explain why he had had reacted so terribly to her casual dismissal yesterday. The half-elf would wince, pulling her features into a hideous grimace at the realisation that she had probably caused the outburst of hurt that had separated the two. Sky is so in love with the man who sits a few metres away from her that she ignores his confessions of dark feelings. Everyone had dark feelings. Everyone had done bad things. For a second she considered confessing her own past misdeeds to the human from the petty thievery to her employment as a contracted killer. But in spite of her over willingness to forgive him for whatever faults he places before her, she isn't brave enough to open her mouth and admit her own sins. As a repented sinner, the girl believes that everyone is capable of redemption and, having seen no evidence of misdeeds, she tells herself that she and he are the same. She would sit there in silence fighting to reconcile the Tyler she loves with the Tyler that is being thrust at her by the human. The rain continues to fall around the two of them, fast and heavy and eventually the half-elf will lift her eyes from her knees and turn her gaze to the human. She should get up. She should walk away. She knows that is the only thing that makes perfect sense in this situation. Instead she offers a couple of words that only truly make sense to one who had been privy to her innermost thoughts, "But, I love you."

Tyler can't believe what he hears. The human's expression becoming one of confusion as he shifts his sights rapidly across Skylei to ensure this wasn't some sick or twisted joke. He finds no cause of disbelief and for the first time of the day manages to crack a smile. Leaning forward he would throw himself onto Skylei, unfortunately pushing her hair into the mud, and hover over her for a moment still riddled with a stare of disbelief. Lowering himself, his lips quickly find hers as he offers her a deep passionate kiss that would serve as his reply to her words. This would go on, until Skylei decided to break it apart for the man simply couldn't bring himself to do so.

Skylei had closed her eyes after she had made her confession. And so she is somewhat surprised by Tyler's boldness. She's not complaining, of course. She's actually unbelievably grateful to feel the weight of his body upon hers and takes it as confirmation that he is not simply going to get up and walk away from her because she is such a damn fool. She doesn't even complain about the fact that she is going to be utterly covered in sludge-like mud when she gets up. She doesn't care about the mud, providing he is willing to stay by her side. Opening her eyes to see his staring right back at her, the half-elf finally begins to feel better. Then his lips are on hers and she is completely lost in the passion of his kiss. It pushes all of the breath out of her body and leaves her unable to think rationally. Throwing her arms around his neck, the half-elf would carry on kissing him back with all the passion she possesses

Tyler continues placing all of his effort into the affection he felt for Skylei, despite the rain taking a turn for the worse and coming down as if a hurricane were hitting. Seconds pass, then minutes and finally Tyler is able to pull himself away from the half elf with a light smack sounding as they part lips. He is out of breath and his heart is still racing as he stares down to her. Silence would take point as all he manages to do is smile and let the moment settle. Finally, pushing his hair back and then Skylei's he manages to speak. "So, what do you say we go get cleaned up and then head home?" Tyler reaches down to his belt and shakes a small bag of coins. "I managed to talk the old dwarven bastard into refunding the remainder of the room... I'm sure I can find somewhere in Chartsend."

Skylei is just as out of breath as Tyler is when the two finally fall apart. She simply lies there in the mud staring up at Tyler with a stupid smile on her face. Soaking, dirty and exhausted, Skylei finally feels at peace. She rolls her shoulders backwards, stretching the muscles that had been pushed into uncomfortable positions by Tyler's sudden pounce and continues to gaze up at him in silence. Eventually the stupid smile would fade but the adoration in her eyes stays strong, "Aye, I would like that y'know. If you can bear to stay there. I know it's not your favourite place in the world." Her eyes keep looking at his face, begging him to disagree with her and tell her that he wanted to stay there because she was there.

Tyler chuckles at Skylei's remark about his distaste for Chartsend. The truth was, the place had begun to grow on the human. The crowd seemed much nicer than Kelay and being only a moment from the beach was a wonder. A smirk is given as he makes contact with those pleading eyes and happily obliges; "My favorite place is by your side, my love." He finally manages to rise to his feet and takes Skylei's hand to aid her in standing as well. "Be it Chartsend, Gamorg, Xalious or Gualon. I just want to be with you." He finally notices the mud in her hair and chuckles a bit. "There is a spring near here we can wash ourselves off in. Then, We walk..." He sighed at the thought of the long journey once more. "We walk... forever."

Skylei would shakes her head weakly, "Not Gamorg. We're not living in Gamorg." She would offer him a weak smile as she sits up and takes his hand, pulling herself up from the mud. She doesn't dare ask him how bad the damage is. She knows that she must be absolutely filthy and can only hope that the downpour will begin to wash her clean and quickly. What would people think if they saw her hand in hand with Tyler and covered with mud? These thoughts are pushed from her mind as she looks up at her beloved's face, "We walk together though."

Tyler offers a warm smile as he takes Skylei by the hand and interlaces his fingers with her own. "Of course." The duo would begin making their exit from the scenic view and Tyler makes a quick glance over his shoulder and gives an apologetic stare to the bone-covered figure that stood at the cliff's edge with a look of sorrow. The man turns back to face the path and releases a sigh as he tries to escape himself, but with a look to his right the feelings fade and he is taken over with compassion for Skylei.

Skylei simply gazes up at his face in pure adoration as the two walk off. She has no idea where the two are headed but she would be content to follow him to the ends of the world. And that is all that matters.
