RP:Two Orcs & A Dog

From HollowWiki

Helix is moving along side the small canals with his goberian companion hot on his heels as the duo return from a recent short lived and uneventful escort mission to Kelay. The leather clad knight offers smiles, nods of acknowledgement and spoken greetings to those that welcome him back to the city of Gualon. As he approaches the center of the plaza to takes a rest by the crafted sycamore, Cassie is swarmed by a horde of the orphans that frequent the area and she falls onto her back to embrace the love and affection. Helix cracks a smile and light exhale before his cyan eyes turn to examine the area in hopes of finding Tristram for his next task.

Nothrobalug had been training with a group of orphans when a few of them broke off from the lessons to pet the furry creature. Noth shook his head and sighed, but was not surprised that the dog could steal away their attentions so easily. It was after all a fine specimen of a canine beast. Noth motioned to the remaining orphans and made a gesture to suggest a break was in order. The large orc made his way to the animals owner and extended his hand in traditional greetings. Upon offering his fellow orc the race's secret handshake, Noth spoke to the man with respect. "Your dog give Noth well deserved break. Me been training all morning and be getting sore shoulders from repeatedly swinging this club." Nothrobalug pulls a massive flask from his side pouch and takes a swig before offering it to the other orc. The container no doubt filled with fungus beer. Noth watches the orphans, some petting the dog, others jumping from square to square enjoying the break from the training.

Helix allows his left brow to loft as he turns to observe Nothrobalug dismissing the rest of the orphans and promptly shakes the Chieftains hand before taking the offered flask and taking a chug before passing it back. "Ah, c'mon, don't tell me ol' Noth is getting weak on me." Helix jokes in his well spoken tongue as he provides a prompt pat on the shoulder of his kin before looking back to the children. His eyes are dancing about them as Cassie lay with her maw gaping and tongue lashing out at each of the hands that approach her. "Training a new battalion of fierce warriors, I see." He jokes again as he examines the children. Helix, being different than most of his kin, found it hard to see reason in training orphans but being a knight under Tristram's rule, he would never step out of bounds to speak his mind. After all, Helix was viewed as an outside to some of his race, a betrayer to others. He was under no tribes rule and had dedicated his life to serving Gualon and Tristram, an odd choice for an orc to follow one not of his own blood. It's because of this that the seven foot green skin chose to bite his tongue on the affairs of those in the encampment excluding when revolution was the topic. He brushes his morals away and remembers that his thoughts are never 'solid' so to speak, after all, perhaps Nothrobalug was simply training them in self defense. His attention is now fully on the Chieftain as he awaits some feedback on his comment to the children, though his interest is far more dedicated to recent ongoings in Gualon since his mission leave.

Nothrobalug takes another gulp of the warm fungus brew as the flask is passed back to him once more. The silver vessel finding it's way snugly back into the tanned hide pouch upon the orc's side again. Noth narrows his eyes at the remark which comes forth from his orc brothers lips and curls his upper lip slightly into a sneer as the mention of his own name and the term of weakness are uttered. The voice deepens somewhat as a suitable response is offered to the question, whether made in jest or not, all the same irritating to Nothro's ears. "Noth never weak!" The response short and sweet, not unlike a dwarven barmaid holding a tankard of fungus beer in one hand with a box of glazed pastries in the other. Noth knows the orc meant no disrespect and was saying such things in a playful manner, yet could not stomach the mention of himself being weak in any way, shape or form. Noth also glances over the orphans enjoying themselves and being children as children should. The Gualortan then looks back at Helix with an expression of seriousness upon his tusked face. "I train orphans well. They be fine students and will help protect Gualon. Fierceness however can not be taught. It is born and bred by instinct and survival. Noth get trained from orphans as much as he train them. Much knowledge shared between us." Noth points to one orphan in particular and states, "Him very good swordsman. Will make Noth proud. There is no finer amongst them." Noth nods and smiles as he is clearly already proud of the young human and his weapon skills. The large orc looks back at Helix and grins, "All orc children be warrior from very early age, why not human?"

Helix takes the clear annoyance from Noth with a grain of salt as he forces himself to hold the smile that tries to spread across his visage. The orc stomachs his playful jest at Noth's pride and soon finds himself viewing the situation with the orphans in a different light. He looks to Noth and scans his complexion and finds that the orc honestly believes what he says and means it. A nod of approval and a half smile appear as Helix turns back to the orphans. "I suppose you're right." The cyan gaze lingers upon the child Noth has pointed out and he gives him a close examination. He has an urge to challenge the boys swordsmanship but suppresses it and instead clicks his tongue twice, Cassie leaping up in command and pushing through the horde of children to plop down on her rump between Helix and Noth though her attention is fully on the Chieftain. Helix scratches at Cassie's helm for a moment before looking back to his kin. "So, I've been gone for a few days now, Noth so I must ask..." Helix's voice drops to a near whisper as he speaks. "Have the encampments been quiet?" The orc isn't referring to noise, but rather to the talks of rebellion and revolution in Gualon that he had tried to fight down nearly a month ago. The knight had done well in silencing some of the talks and had reported back to Tristram that all was well. Yet, here he was speaking to Noth, unsure of the Chieftain's honest allegiance be it to Gualon or his blood, but he was no fool. Helix didn't expect a lie from the orc though, despite being an outcast among most of his kin, the knight was respected enough for his service to the city.

Nothrobalug watches as his orcish brother commands his fur covered companion and smiles as he looks down at the animal. A fine canine specimen indeed. Noth for a moment ponders the option of also petting the dog, but decides not to do so. Noth has never been good with animals, save for snapping their necks, skinning them, shoving rods through them and roasting them over camp fires. Not that he would ever do such a thing to another persons companion pet, that sort of treatment is normally saved for the large swamp rats near his hut. Nothro tilts his head to the side offering his good ear for better hearing of the somewhat whispered conversation. "Me no leave Gualon. Gualortan not often travel to other places like Helix does." Noth notices concern in the voice of his fellow orc and tries to make a mental note of paying closer attention to what has been taking place around the camps and huts of the orc domain. The question seemed to inspire the idea that there might be shady dealings or plots brewing around the encampment and Noth simply would not stand for that on his watch. "Noth has not heard anything that would be of concern, though most would remain quiet round me if there was anything nefarious being planned." Noth points at the diamond emblem artifact around his arm. The object is a badge of some form and appears to contain the logo of the Gualon flag upon it. Noth seems rather proud of the item. "Noth uphold law and security for Gualon. All Gualortan pledge lives to the city." The orc offers a rather serious and convincing nod as he adds, "We pledge same to the Tristram man. Should we hear of wrong words being spoken......" The sentence is not finished, but rather a gesture is made in it's place. Noth clasps an open hand around the other balled into a tight fist and makes several pounding motions. "Helix no worry bout things when gone on travel trips. Gualon security be solid sir." Noth still ponders what could be happening among the less loyal orcs in the lands and thinks of questioning those of the other tribes for further info.

Helix feels a wave of relief wash over him as Nothrobalug expresses his loyalty to the city and dedication to ensuring no mutiny were to take place. The knight nods in favor of the chieftain and provides a smile to his kin. "Then my mind may rest easy knowing Nothrobalug watches our great city." Helix moves to speak yet again but is quickly interrupted by the arrival of a small human shoving a piece of parchment toward his legs. Arching a brow the orc reaches down to snatch the note and pulls out a few spare coppers to drop in the childs hand as he runs off. Pulling the letter open his emerald eyes begin to scan over the parchment and a low grunt emits from the knight's throat as he rolls it back up and stuffs it into his satchel. "Well, it seems my return has been cut short. Looks like I'm Kelay bound once more." Looking back to Nothrobalug he offers a bow. "Should you need me, simply send word. It travels fast through this land of gossip." The orc smirks and provides another nod and wave toward Nothrobalug before moving toward the north, clicking his tongue twice, Cassie rises to her feet and jets to his side.
