Hanging Corpse Tavern

Larewen sat upon a stool near the bar, toying with a glass of whiskey. She swirled it around aimlessly, her head tilted upward toward where she thought Steadmen to be standing. "Have you seen Kasyr, lately?" she asked the barkeep quietly, though she knew the answer she'd received. Steersmen shook his head at first, then as an after thought, responded with a quiet no. The glass was lifted to the necromancer's lips and she sipped it. Larewen looked at Dagon.

Reginae, in the guise of a small human child, walked up the Larewen with the same question she’d just asked the bar keeper. The child’s gaze was far too stern for anyone her apparent age. “I’m looking for Kasyr,” she said, crossing her slender arms in front of her square and unimpressive form. “I’ve been sending missives, but I’ve received no response. I’m getting concerned…” Regi told all this to the strange vampriss at the bar with little fear of causing a fight. The most common reaction was for creatures to rebuke her, or not take her seriously.

Pilar entered the tavern, bag slung over her shoulder. She scanned the patrons for a familiar face, and found it by the bar. As she approached, she noticed the small child and frowned. The girl was much too young to be in such an establishment on her own. Unless she was Larewen's, but Pilar doubted that. Then again, she sounded very serious for a child her age. Pilar didn't wish to interrupt, so she stopped several feet away. She knew Larewen could sense her presence, anyway.

Larewen heard Reginae's entrance, but did not turn to regard the disguised naga until she heard the gentle tap of her steps draw near and stop. Her words drew the vampire's empty stare away from just past Steadmen's ear to just over the top of Reginae's head. "I don't imagine you'll hear from him anytime soon, if you have," the necromancer said, thoughtfully. Her lips pressed into a thin line. "I suppose I'll speak with House Alnwick." The latter of her words were more of a muse spoken aloud to herself before Pilar's scent was picked up with a flaring of the elf's nostrils. "Come closer, dear Pilar," she called out to the fledgling before tilting her head slightly in Reginae's direction. "What is it that you were seeking from Kasyr? Perhaps I could be of assistance. I am Lady Larewen, of House Dragana."

Reginae turned at the sound of another patron entering the bar. She regards Pilar with a careful and calculated expression before turning back to Larewen in hopes of extracting an answer. Her head nods, jostling snowy tresses that are far too long for her current stature. It appears that the child is digesting Larewen’s response until the elder vampire addresses the newest addition and invites her forward. Regi takes a step to the side to allow the woman passage. “We were in the process of forming a regional alliance, and now I’ve lost contact with him. Has anyone stepped in to take his place regarding political matters? Forgive my ignorance on the houses and order of things here. I am new to Vailkrin and still learning your history. A please, Lady Larewen, of House Dragana. I have no house to offer, but my name is freely given. Reginae, Liaison of Alithryian public affairs.” The introduction is offered to both the woman seated and the one approaching.

Pilar stepped forward at Larewen's invitation, but noticed that the elder was not looking directly at her, or the girl-child. Speaking of whom, Pilar hadn't understood a word she said, but figured a response of some kind was in order. "Hello. I am Pilar. Nice to meet you." She remained standing next to Larewen and placed her bag on the bar with a muffled thud.

Larewen heard the thud of the bag, canting her head to the side slightly. "Are you going somewhere, Pilar?" she asked, curiously. Regina's words drew her attention right back to the naga - or just to the side of her rather. "House Alnwick handles a lot of political matters, and was often who Kasyr turned to for aid when necessary; he has advised me to do so, as well. I intend to take that place, when it is time. How far along in the process were you, Lady Reginae?"

Reginae regarded Pilar with a small smile. “Nice to meet you as well.” The smile melted into a thoughtful expression while she attempted to recall her conversation with Kasyr. The thing she remembered most was that he’d had a cat…and Regi had lost a staring contest to it, among other things. “He suggested that I reach out to the Lady for Frostmaw, which I did, while he consulted to determine the stance of Vailkrin. He also noted that he would be willing to form an alliance, but only if I rejected the Time Lord if he ever re-appeared or started working from Alithrya in the future…I apologize for the interruption and thank you for your assistance. Please. I do ask you to take the alliance into consideration or at least to House Alnwick in the event that Kasyr remains…where ever he is presently.” A short bow is offered to both Larewen and Pilar as the child turns to exit. “Lady Larewen, Lady Pilar. It was a pleasure.”

Pilar marveled at being referred to as "Lady" by anyone, child or no. "G-Goodbye, pequeña." Turning back to Larewen, she shook her head. "No, I am only looking for a place to practice. I stopped in to see if Johnny or Daermon maybe here." Her brow furrowed slightly and she switched to elvish. "Are you... alright, milady?"

Larewen furrowed her brow slightly in regard to Reginae's words and then lifted her head. "I will certainly do so," the elf replied. "Vuryal has already returned." As the child turned to leave, Larewen's dark eyes could barely follow her - with no sight, it was only through sound that she could distinguish. "Travel safely," she called out. Pillar's reply was met with a shake of her head. "I've not seen either in quite some time..." Poor choice of words, that was. She hadn't "seen" anyone.

Reginae stopped her footfalls at the mention of this news. The Time Lord had already returned? Did that mean Alithrya was in danger again, of being used like before in the Archmosian War by her sister before Reginae's return? "Thank you, on all fronts." The child adds, before her steps resume at the pace previously halted and exits the tavern.

Pilar continued in elvish. "Damn, I was hoping one of them could observe, for safety's sake. I'm going to start practicing some of the magic I read about in your books, you see." She noticed that Larewen was avoiding her question, but pressed on. "Perhaps, if you are not too busy, you could help instead?"

Larewen turned her head toward Pilar, her lips pressed into a line for a moment before her chin lifted. "Will you be available this evening? I have some paperwork to tend to."

Pilar frowned. "Unfortunately, no. I have a meeting with someone."

Larewen dipped her head to Pilar. "Soon, then?"
