Part of the Things Are Looking Up Arc

Nikola wanders into Kreekitaka's shop looking at the curiosities, yet somehow it's Kree who makes the important discovery.

The RP!

Nikola was walking around. Its really hard to own a store of your own without any helper, Her back aches alittle as she set down the crate she is carrying. She needs materials and her helper is nowhere to be found. She shrugged as she turned to find a sign that is pointing toward some stairs (I would assume) She haven't seen this one before, then again she only have checked stores that would most likely benefit her, weapons and armor, smithery, the mines and what not. She needs more ores, lots of project, lots of work but a bit of curious window shopping won't hurt.

Kreekitaka was feeling well enough to be out of the tank--at least for a bit. He still wasn't walking on his own, and he still looked awful, but he needed some time outside the box. So there he was, laying on a specially-designed couch meant to support him as he lay forward without setting him fully-horizontal, which also allowed his arms to move forward and work. He was currently tinkering with something--several ribs of armor, held together by thread. It seemed he was trying to design a mechanism that allowed the armor to collapse into a single small bar, perhaps for hiding under fabric or something judging by the rest of the store. When the curtain leading into the shop opened, he turned his attention away from his work. "Hi," he said. "ParDAH!on my appearance." He did look like hell. Broken paddles, awful scar-seams all over his carapace, and his legs were still in terrible condition. But at least he was still working.

Nikola found herself onto of the stairs and through a doorway. She sets down the crate she is carrying as lightly as she can but it still landed on the floor audibly, as if it weighed a ton. She looked around with apologetic eyes as she she began to browse. Seeing.... something. Well this is new, though she has no right to complain especially that she herself is a dragon, different beings do tend to meet in this fine lands. However she is using a draconian disguise and this beast clearly isn't. Though it doesn't appear hostile so no need for her to react violently. "Fascinating. I try not to be rude, but... what are you exactly?" tilting her head as she looks upon the creature's form. It looks battered badly however.

Kreekitaka rippled his paddles a little and twitched a facial crusher. "I am HHHTHe one whose name is on HHHTHe DAH!oor," he said simply, offering a little shrug. He'd gotten over the whole 'what are you' thing. "An' accorDAH!ing TAH!oo HHHTHe newspaper, I am from space." He snorted derisively. Dumbest thing he'd ever heard about his people. Space. What a laugh. "I DAH!on'TAH! even know whaTAH! 'space' HHHTHey're referring TAH!oo. See anyHHHTHing you yike?" Might as well ask, since this was his shop, after all. "If noTAH!, I can make cusTAH!om ouTAH!fiTAH!s. CosTAH!s extra, buTAH! I assure you I have noTAH! DAH!isappoineTAH!eDAH! one cusTAH!omer yeTAH!."

Nikola rubs her hand against her chin as she look upon the being. "Well you look more like a large... crab? lobster? I mean, they do say dragons are large lizards so I apologize if that sounded rude." She smiles as she points upward. "During the night you see a void of darkness yes? With lots of stars and the moon shining above. In the morning there is the ball of fire that illuminates everything. Where those stars, moon and fire ball is? That is called space. But it seems you look like you came from the sea and not there." she nodded. She looked around to get herself a seat before saying, "I actually am a craftsman myself. Although my creation is mostly out of metal, combat equipment is my specialty, I don't even know if I could craft beautiful clothing such as those that you have on display Mr. Kreekitaka." remembering the name on the sign. "I am Nikola by the way, I am a Blacksmith. A pleasure." she extends her scaley hand and hope for the best. Assuming this being knows how to shake hands.

Kreekitaka nodded. So 'space' referred to the night sky? ...Things could come from the sky? He reached up with a claw and shook hands politely. "A byacksmiHHHTH! ExceyenTAH. I may have neeDAH! of you eventuayee, in facTAH!. MeTAH!ohworking is noTAH! someHHHTHing I have any abiyiTAH!ee in myseff. Know you whaTAH! can be DAH!one wiHHHTH HHHTHose?" He pointed to a sack in the corner--a large sack--containing multiple scales of various sizes, that Nikola would immediately recognize as being from a blue dragon. "HHHTHey were given TAH!oo me as paymenTAH! for services renDAH!ereDAH! a yong TAH!ime ago. She wisheDAH! TAH!oo pay off her TAH!ab, which I can comprehenDAH! easiyee enough. An' remin' me TAH!oo ask you more abouTAH! space in a momenTAH!."

Nikola can't help but smile. Although the creature's speech pattern is alittle confusing and sometimes takes her a while to understand what he is saying, still it is quite interesting to watch him. As the man pointed on the corner, she looked onto it and said, "Oh... Dragon scales... Blue Dragon Scales to be precise. It offers lightning resistance." she comments as the man continues to speak. "Well this is alot of scales, I would assume who ever gave this to you is also a dragon, We do shed scales every now and then. Currently, all I can do with them is grind them to dust and mix them into metal allowing me to forge shock resistant armor. But grinding it takes too much time and effort." she inspect the scales more before turning to the man. "Sure, I am not a master of anything about space but when I was younger I have done alot of studying to know enough."

Kreekitaka hrmmed. He knew they were dragon scales, but: lightning resistance, interesting! And very useful. "I knew HHHTHey were dragon... hmm. Many HHHTHanks. I have pyans for HHHTHem, now." Now then, on to space stuff! "So space is HHHTHe nighTAH! sky, HHHTHen? HHHTHings can come from HHHTHere? ...meaning HHHTHings can -go- HHHTHere? WhaTAH! is HHHTHere in HHHTHe sky which can be TAH!oucheDAH!.?"

Nikola throws the scale back in the bag and said, "Yea but it is really hard to use, the scale itself is harder than most metals and you can't really form them. Goodluck I guess." she smiles then went back to her seat as she listened to him. "Well, The sky. I have read numerous books in my youth, where scholars have debated and show their research to one another guessing what is out there. The most notable one is that this land that we live in is a massive sphere So massive that we, the little beings on its surface assumes its flat because it is so large that we don't see it curving downward. But it is a sphere of sort because the Sun is a circle, the moon is too and so forth. For the other things that is out there, The moon that we see every night is perceived by many as a small spherical land that hovers around us. If you follow the moon as it do its path, you'll find yourself stuck in perpetual night-time. and eventually you'll find yourself back on your starting location when you follow the moon in a straight line and thus proves that this land we are in is a massive sphere. The things that dropped from the sky are mostly rock and metal. We usually see them as comets or meteors on the night sky. They burn up as they fall so rapidly down to the ground causing the colorful streaks upon the night sky. I have tested a couple of these theories. A friend of mine said he can't go any higher, after flying towards space, the air becomes too thin, making it impossible to breathe and flap your wings. Disabling flight all together."

Kreekitaka nodded along, occasionally interjecting with something like, "Of course HHHTHe worohDAH! is a sphere. If HHHTHe FourHHHTH WorohDAH! were noTAH! enTAH!ireyee conTAH!aineDAH!, we woulDAH! noTAH! be here TAH!oDAH!ay." ...what? weird alien cosmology from a crab person, I suppose. He listened intently to the stuff about the sky. So there were other worlds out there--smaller ones--and apparently there was all sorts of metal out there. Now that was exciting. No air would make it tricky to fly there, though, apparently. "Hmm. I bring my waTAH!er wiHHHTH me," he gestured to the spiral-shell tanks on his back, "so I see no reason why I woulDAH! be unabo TAH!oo DAH!oo so in space... HHHTHe trick, apparenTAH!yee, from whaTAH! I hear, is a meHHHTHoDAH! of fyighTAH! which requires no wing-fyapping." Like your jawblade, Kree? "...which I may aoso have iDAH!eas abouTAH!." Oh dear.

Nikola wasn't entirely sure about that. Wings and magic is the most common and also most reliable way of flight but the lack of air would kill anyone unless they are undead to begin with but would require lots of magical power and stamina to even get up there. "Well.. wings and magic is the most reliable ways of flight... another thing I could think of is black powder. Dwarves use them on demolishing rocks when mining. Some use it for distraction, fireworks or other means but the explosion it creates is a problem. The force it generates to push things and the flames in the firework propels it upward but to carry someone? and actually continuously propel till you are up there? That would be tons upon tons of the thing. And the risk of exploding too."

Kreekitaka toyed with a facial crusher as he thought. Using the recoil from his jawblade to propel himself into the air only gave him a momentary lift, and he wouldn't be able to recharge it before he had to fall again. Acquiring tons of black powder and then not exploding would be -very- expensive and require multiple experts--and then there was the question of how might he get -back-, if the powder was all burned away. "Hm... cyearyee HHHTHis is going TAH!oo require more HHHTHoughTAH!. I HHHTHank you for your insighTAH!, however, Nikoya." He clenched his facial crushers in gratitude.

Nikola smiles as she said, "I am glad that I could help." She smiles as she continue to walk around, it is clear they the two have enjoyed their conversation alot but she is here for something else. "Is there... any materials here? I mean, I am a blacksmith and as I have mentioned, I do grind dragon scales into dust to mix into metal. With the technique I use, I can form scales but problem is Scales isn't exactly large enough to craft as armor so I need a ton of them. However I realize that I can do the same with various other materials and such would allow me to transfer their resistances into the metals that I use for the armors I make. So.. I seek... oddities that you might have."

Kreekitaka did indeed enjoy this conversation and he might need to talk to her later about her experience with flying. Getting up to that ceiling was the first step. He gestured to a rack of fabrics on the wall. "MosTAH!yee fabric. I've some carapace in HHHTHe back, buTAH! I suspecTAH! your meTAH!oh is stronger. You may be inTAH!eresTAH!eDAH! in my armor-type fabrics--I have a way of harDAH!ening HHHTHem. NoTAH! as much proTAH!ection as someone yike yourseff mighTAH! make, however HHHTHe fabric has unique properTAH!ies. HHHTHis one, for exampo," he gestured to a thick, blackish-green cloth that was clearly marked "Do Not Touch", "is mayDAH! wiHHHTH HHHTHe skin an' eyectric organ of a cerTAH!ain kin' of eeoh. Can carry a charge, however onyee briefyee--gooDAH! for one gooDAH! TAH!urnarounDAH!. I have sharkskin which can rip fyesh, hagfish skin which secretes syime, pufferfish skin which can exTAH!enDAH! venomous spines..."

Nikola looks upon the man's wares and said, "Interesting, Interesting, By the way. Do you want me to grind the scales for you? It is quite difficult to find something strong enough to break it apart and I'll be more than happy to share my expertise with you." She smiles at him before turning back to the items. "A charge you say?" She wonders how does that work as he probably killed the owner of that skin first before displaying it. The shark scales are also a thing to put her attention to. She tried to made something similarly textured before. It didn't work so well as ofcourse people would wear it and end up hurting other people, allies that have been standing near them and same goes with the venomous ones. "Hmm, Well maybe I could learn something new with these, Or cook them."

Kreekitaka actually didn't want them ground up just yet. He had other plans first. "If my pyans for HHHTHem DAH!on'TAH! work, Io ask for you, however if HHHTHey are as harDAH! as you say HHHTHen perhaps iTAH! mighTAH! be beTAH!er for me if I use HHHTHe pure scayohs raHHHTHer HHHTHan mixing HHHTHem? I have quiTAH! a few." And maybe people did hurt their allies with his sharkskin fabric. That was why he'd made sure to caution people about what it was capable of--he made sure he wasn't liable in case of an accident. "DAH!oo whaTAH! you wish once you buy," he said, with a shrug, "however, I suggesTAH! buying actuoh seafooDAH! for copper raHHHTHer HHHTHan spenDAH! hundreDAH!s of gohDAH! on my fabrics for a meoh which is harDAH!yee nutritious."

Nikola laughs as she said, "Well they say the most expensive ones are the most delicious. But sure, I'm simply joking. Anyway. I do hope you find your way up there. Feel free to contact me if you have more questions. I am not in anyway an expert but I'll be more than happy to help you. I work on the Milous Plains, there is a path that leads to the south of Craughmoyle. My workshop is there. Feel free to visit or send a courier." She smiles and waves before finally moving back by the doorway, "It has been fun Mr. Kreekitaka, I hope to hear from you soon." She smiles before hefting the large crate on her back once again, before finally heading out.
