  • Characters: Fendarien (The Quest Giver), Thea, Achaedas, Jacklin, Heltri, Cerinii
  • Location: Kelay Tavern

Fendarien hobbles into the tavern sighing deeply and using his seemingly ancient staff for a crutch. The young man appears haggard and for some reason seems to have the posture of a man three or perhaps four times his age. He slowly moves his weary form to a chair and lowers himself into it carefully with a long groan. The sage sighs deeply once more and examines an injury on his arm that appears to be a burn.

Fendarien places a hand on the burnt arm and whispers a few words softly as he does so the skin around the burn which is blackened glows a soft blue before beginning to mend itself slowly. The blackened scabby skin becomes red and inflamed before seeming to settle to the usual palette of a pale elf. Fendarien said, "I do not suppose one of you folk could spare some water for an old... I mean weary traveller? I left my home suddenly and I have no money."

Thea seems weary after her flight, having left the chasm in the capable hands of Duth. Capable enough anyway. She notes the large crowd here today, and weaves through them towards an empty stool. She smiles to Nancy and orders her usual then turns around to survey the patrons for any familiar faces. Spotting the very one she had been scouring the island for, the Pixie nearly falls off her chosen seat. It was indeed the Sage. Accepting her mug from Nancy, the Pixie gingerly slides from the stool and offers a careful approach to the familiar Healer. Hoping he would recognize her from her many trips to the Grove, the Druidess lowers her voice, "I have been trying to find you. We need to speak about what happened?"

Achaedas gave 1 spring water to Fendarien.

Fendarien said to Achaedas, "Thank you, my throat is like sand! ~ The Elf quickly glugs down the water with the thirst of one who has not drank for days~"

Roldan nods his head, after giving Fendarien a rather disconcerted look. "That would suit me well indeed. I will certainly put them to good use."

Achaedas nods at the elf. "You're welcome."

Fendarien spots Thea and the elf immediatly drops the mug of water, "You I remember your face but the torments I have endured leave me without many of my memories. I sense you are a druid such as I?"

Jacklin follows Roldan's eyes to where the thirsty elf stood and back again, "Wonderful. If you wouldn't mind sending me what things you would like included, then work can begin immediately."

Thea nods solemnly to the elf, "Aye, that I am. I answered the call of the plants and trees only to find the Grove..and in fact yourself..missing. Anything you can remember at all about what happened?"

Fendarien shudders at the mention of the past events but keeps his eyes locked onto Thea as if his very life depended on it. "I remember things... things I have never have seen. When the light fell from the sky it was as if I was thrown about in time. The past the present and the future and then I passed out." The Sage is visibly shaken and clings to the edge of the table as if doing so would stop him being thrown about once more.

Thea 's empathic nature takes precedence over the need for information when the state of Fendarien worsens. She places a reassuring arm around his shoulder, "Aye, it's over now..", she mutters in a comforting manner, "unfortunately though, the Grove is gone." She places a delicate hand atop one of his closed-gripped ones, "You are safe now, aye? Try to relax..", She hoped that her verbal reassurance would settle the poor elf enough that his recollections of the previous days events might become more clear. Fendarien breaks down in tears, visibly sobbing the elf lunges his head into the table only to be caught in his hands. "I know, I saw the chasm. I just ran away I saw such strange things... and then it was like I was on fire, a forsaken elf girl saw me and started to talk about taking me to her home but I was frightened, they seem so unnatural so I ran again, like a coward. I am... not myself."

Thea 's lips purse to impart a soft 'Shhh' before she speaks, "You are no coward. I would have run from such a thing myself, as would anyone with any sense." The Pixie's brow furrows slightly, her right hand moving over the very smoothed skin of the Sage's slowly as if she were studying it. Taking a small step back, the Druidess stares into his eyes, noting each facial feature and the missing lines there. She had encountered him enough to recall he was more aged. Perplexion wrought features continue staring as she confesses, "You..look so much younger than last we met. Begging your pardon, but you could be mistaken for losing a good four decades off your appearance." Having only seen such things in temporary spells and the like, the Pixie releases his hand from her own and wraps it tightly around the mug on the table. Attempting now to change the subject, Thea continues with her questioning, "What of this girl you speak of? Was she familiar to you at all?"

Fendarien whimpers and sobs softly before inhaling a deep breath to try and calm himself. The Sage listens to Thea's words and looks down upon his hands which appear softer, fatter and less wrinkled. "That happened after I was thrown through time. I feel younger, healthier but my brothers and sisters of the circle are all gone." The elf suddenly becomes stoic, a hard look enters his features and he appears more determined. "But there is hope, the one relic the hallowed circle sought ... I saw it in during my travels. The Orb of Life that which sanctified the land if it can be found I believe the grove could be restored." Fendarien said to Thea, "As for the girl... No just some passer by perhaps."

Thea seems disturbed by what her fellow Druid has endured, but does her best not to let it show as she listens thoughtfully, "Aye? Though if you saw it during your..'travels'..it might be very difficult to once more obtain, no? Ryeanna and I spoke of how dangerous it would be for any to attempt to ride a rift save for those like Vuryal."

Fendarien waves his hands emphatically, “That’s just it though I saw it all... I saw who took the orb and where and I believe I understand why. It is locked away by a powerful ward. It was as if I could see it all but I was not really there. Like being in spirit form but I was trapped.” The Sage appears weary and hunches giving the appearance of being crumpled. “But in my present state I cannot do anything about it.”

Thea moves out of the way of those flailing limbs, allowing the Sage room to vent his frustrations of the situation and offer key components to eventually putting this proverbial puzzle together, "You saw them take it where? I realize you are frazzled, dear..but perhaps if you can recall who and where, I can assist you in recovering it?"

Fendarien tries to calm himself drawing several deep breaths. "It is on a city floating atop the clouds where the Avians dwell. An Avian took it there long, long ago. He used it for terrible deeds, he perverted its powers The Orb of Life was forced to lend its powers to unnatural creatures, things that should not live but under the influence of the orb they did and perhaps still do. He then locked the Orb away sealed with a ward that can be opened by three keys."

Fendarien said to Thea, "Of course you can, you and anyone else who wishes to lend their powers to the cause. I believe if the Orb of Life can be unlocked by the three keys we can undo what has been done to Hallowed Grove."

Achaedas pulled a chair and sat down extremely close to the druids, but with his back facing them. He had been eavesdropping on the conversation for quite some time now, and what he heard was a juicy story. The feline's full focus went out to the conversation, as to not miss out on a single word spoken.

Thea did hate to continue to be so persistent, but his cryptic messages as if she were privy to the information was a tad frustrating. The mention of an Avian using the Orb was not only not surprising to the Pixie, but she even suspected her former love of being part of the scheme. "I suppose we must first find these three keys then. Do you know where they may be?"

Fendarien nods his head just as emphatically as he failed his arms earlier. “I saw them but not clearly... somebody did not want them to be found. It was as if they were trying to stop me seeing the keys. My vision was blurred but the first key, it was hoarded away in the den of a dragon... not a normal dragon mind you it was... incomplete. But I also know the keys are cursed and anyone who finds one can only hold one key if they held a second I believe a great harm would come to them.”

Achaedas turned around and sighed. "Alright, I snap. I could help but...em..overhear your conversation, and some of this sounds rather bothersome. What is this grove, orb of life and it's keys?" The full attention of the being was directed at the druids now, determined to get an answer.

Thea contemplates all the dragons she's encountered in the lands, uncertain of the one mentioned by the Sage, "Aye..then I suppose I am off to find this..incomplete dragon. Do take care of yourself and rest, aye? I will seek you out if I am able to find this dragon and subsequently the key you mention."

Fendarien turned to Achaedas and wobbled a bit doing so, the Sage was still clearly exhausted. "The grove was the last remnant of Sylvan Concordat we were the elves of old and the guardians of nature upon what you now call Rynvale. The Orb of Life is a relic of ages past used to sanctify the land we held it long ago and used its power to sanctify lands for sacred woods and holy trees but it was lost many years ago... the Hallowed Grove sought it for over a millennia but now the grove is gone too."

Fendarien said to Thea, "I shall rest...and I wish you luck." Thea nods and gathers her things then heads for the exit and out to find this dragon. Achaedas nodded at few times while listening to the response. "I see. Where was the hallowed grove before it disappeared? And do you have any idea about the orb's current location, and what would happen if it were not to be found?" Fendarien said to Achaedas, "The orb Hallowed grove was north of the city of Port Rynvale it was the last refuge for my people. I saw the orb sealed away on an Avian city but collecting the orb will not be possible without the three keys. If it were never to be found then the grove shall be lost forever. ~ the wounded sage appears utterly crushed by the thought and visibly crumples once more.~"

Heltri turns those orbs on Fendarien. Quietly. Eating continued, absorption continued, and death continued to grace this old tavern. Cerinii said to Fendarien, "Or better still, you speak to ein representative of the Avian cities first."

Achaedas said to Fendarien, "The consequences of the grove disappearing forever would be? Also, have you got any idea on the location of the keys at this moment?""

Fendarien seems surprised by suddenly being spoken to by yet another unfamiliar face. But quickly nods to Cerinii "I do not believe you are the one who sealed the Orb of Life away... Do you know of a better way to retrieve it?"

Heltri utters 'time' under his breath between a bite of carrots.

Cerinii said to Fendarien, "I know nothing of an orb, but I am the representative of both Avian cities. If you have business with them, you'd be best discussing it with me.. So that way I can either offer you aid or set up some form of security. Have to protect mein interests after all."

Fendarien said to Achaedas, "The combined knowledge of the hallowed sages would be lost forever and when I pass on my kind would cease to be. As I told Thea I had various visions some made sense some did not but what I did see was the first key, hoarded away by a dragon that I can only describe as incomplete."

Achaedas said to Cerinii, "Sounds to make like bypassing it's 'security' is the goal here."

Achaedas said to Fendarien, "....An incompelete dragon? Mind to elaborate?""

Cerinii said to Achaedas, "I guessed that from what I have heard, but then again.. If I am in charge of said current cities, information would be appreciated so I can either help, give you access or add more security."

Fendarien said to Achaedas, "I am afraid I cannot. That is what I saw. Perhaps with rest I can make more sense of it."

Cerinii said to Fendarien, "Yet, you mention an Avian city. Being an Avian, who is of some age, it is in mein interest to find out. Und I'm being quite polite in asking, rather than some people would be. But if it does not come across as polite, then I am sorry. I am not familiar with.. the social structure."

Achaedas said to Fendarien, "Any backgrounds you saw? Anything would help. " Cerinii said to Fendarien, "Yet, you mention an Avian city.

Fendarien said to Cerinii, "I am not sure how you can help. I am taxed greatly by my experience, my mind is cloudy, my body does not feel like my own. If I can remember something more of the city I shall ask you my noble friend." You said to Achaedas, "I am araid not it was dark if that helps..."

Cerinii smirked softly, "If it is ein new body you need, that can be arranged." She waved with her metallic hand, clearly suggesting to make him metal. This was before she moved along over to the bar. Bored and all that jazz.

Fendarien said “I need rest now I shall return when I can make more sense of all that I have seen.”
