Frostmaw Tavern

The tavern is slightly chilled, and more uncomfortable to those who enjoy the warmth that other buildings and inns have to offer. As you glance about you see normal sized chairs for visitors such as humans, dwarves, elves, and the like of medium sized humanoids that would enter and leave this place. Along all four walls lays a large oak made booth, suitable for its giant inhabitants to sit and enjoy their drinks and meals in comfort, among the booths lay various blood stained marks as well as chips and cracks along the surface from older brawls that had taken place in the passed. Upon further inspection, this massive tavern seems to have a skeletal head of a large dragon hanging from the cieling, wrapped and constricted in pale blue chains, while your eyes continue to explore, you notice a rather bulky and well toned frost giant behind the bar. Upon his left eye, which you notice is blinded, a scar travels down and along his jaw, traveling even further to his neck, and vanishing under the heavy clothing that rests on his chest. The large bartender simply watches you, awaiting to see if you are here to rest, or order from the menu, as well, beside the old giant awaits a massive sized war-axe, incase you would be here to start some trouble.

Satoshi is seated at a table situated near the entrance, her hulking Frost Giant of a guard beside her and trying his best to be unobtrusive despite his size and overly polished silver armor. His methods seem to be working however, as the triple-tailed vulpine is dutifully ignoring him while she half-buries herself in a pile of parchments, adding scribbles here, a stamp there, and seals to finished scrolls. One of which is promptly rolled up and tucked into the waiting leather sleeve of a messenger ice-falcon perched beside the table for just such a purpose. With a screech, the falcon takes flight, darting out the door with a departing patron. Obviously, Satoshi is being kept busy with her new status, along with acknowledging the frequent hails of "Snow Maiden!" from tavern-goers passing by.

Aldred stands at the bar, sipping down an unknown amber fluid as the words snow maiden bounce about the tavern. Ears perk a bit, eyes shift as he turns to the center of attention to the room of people. A few massive steps allow a path to be cleared as he approaches,"You must be Satoshi. I am Aldred if you have not already gathered that." A large runed hand is extended to the feline in greeting.

Satoshi extends a hand out not to shake Aldreds but to rest on the forearm of her guard, the giant having tensed reflexively to unlash his axe at the centaur's approach. "Tharn." Touch and word combine to serve a clear, concise command to the young warrior to release his half-drawn weapon and settle back into his chair, albeit still watchful. Turning amber-bespecked eyes back to Aldred, Satoshi offers a faint, apologetic smile before accepting his hand with her own frigid one. "Oui, you guess right. So tell me," withdrawing her hand, the cattish queen intertwines her fingers before her and rests her chin upon them, "what can I do for you, Aldred Frost?" Her eyes playfully ask the unspoken question of 'and what can you offer me too?'

Aldred folds his bulcky appendages across his chest, never faultering at the motions of the Guard. The centaur recognized the feline, he could not quite place it but he knew her from somewhere just faintly. Finally the guardian speaks,"Exactly the question I wished to ask you. As you know, I lead a tribe of Centaurs in this region. So what could you do for us in offer for our support?"

Satoshi flashes an amused grin at the centaur's words, pleased with his knack for getting straight to the point. So much easier than the wordgames she has to play with other politicians. "Simple," she offers, eyebrows rising in a gesture as if to say 'isn't it obvious?'. "An alliance grants us both power et safety, protection. Opens the chance for trading of wares each of our people specialize in. Possibly even medicines or crafts we each possess and the other needs." Tharn, while still bristling, can't help easing into his seat a bit more at the proposed idea, even as Satoshi continues with a tone darkened and lowered. "But as enemies... we can only offer each other our warriors' lives. No trade save death, no growth save in the body count. Only bloodshed and hatred bred. The north is a harsh enough land without its people slaughtering each other endlessly, don't you think?"

Aldred nods, pondering for a moment on the possibilities at hand,"Aye, unneeded bloodshed surely is pointless. And better trade sounds like it would work well enough. To get to the point I would like to accept the offer. But the question that still comes across my mind is, what kind of power would I hold in the land. If My tribe melds into your society then what will I become other than just another citizen. What will I personally gain, a still deep seated hatred from the Frost giants only to be covered with a fake smile?"

Satoshi idly picks at a blemish on the scroll before her, feigning thoughtfulness a moment before she gives a response. "The discord between the frost giants and centaurs will not be one easily mended, on either side. Grudges will not dissolve simply because two leaders have agreed with one another. But I am here to bring in a new age for Frostmaw, and that means changes to many things they've grown accustomed to, up to and including forging peace with former enemies. As for what you'll gain," the feline glances at Tharn, trying to gauge the giant's take on this as a preemptive response she can expect from the rest of the city, "your tribe will be equal citizens in Frostmaw. That includes your people being as accountable for Frostmaw laws as my own are of course. I believe we possess the ability to mesh our military forces, as well. Land obtained will be land equally granted to tribe and city. And as for your gain specifically... does being a Lord of the court suit you? To have a voice heard the same as the others of power in the city are, while of course retaining your leadership on your tribe's held land. A place where I hope you'd extend the same offers to me."

Aldred strokes his chin for a moment, once more drifting off into his mind. Swirling pools fluxuate as he finally remembers and the image flashes back into his head of feline dragging feline. The centaur keeps quite on the subject though and without faulter comes to a conclusion,"That will be suitable for me. My land extends westward from the boarders of the city. As well as a small outpost where we trade items south of the castle. In the case that you wished to know."

Satoshi nods knowingly, oblivious to Aldred's private recollection. "Yes, I know the outpost. Perhaps as a show of trust, one of Frostmaw's traders will be permitted to set up a similar trading post on your tribe's lands. It'd serve well as the first step to building a working bridge. If we're in agreeance, now es the time to bury the hatchet and forge a new weapon with which we both can guard the northern lands with, no?" Following the words is an offering of her hand once more in the age-old gesture to seal a deal. "A traditional method of agreement, for both our people are born of that cloth. Contracts and agreements of the written, official, sort can be drawn up later."

Aldred simply nods, extending his rune covered palm to grasp the queens,"Aye, seems to be a fair deal. Just do well to inform me of the placement of this outpost and we can have our agreements written out whenever you feel it is suitable."

Satoshi gives the centaur's hand a firm shake--no mean feat for one as small as herself--before releasing it again. "Until then, Master Aldred. Give me a day to make this alliance known to my people and documents written up for our signing, and from then on, any crime made by giant or centaur against the other shall be punished with equal severity in these lands. We will be a united people, the Northern Alliance, if you will."

Aldred offers a nod and a humble look to spread on his features,"Aye, And I will let my people know as well. The northern alliance shall last long."

Satoshi said to Aldred, "It shall live long indeed. Between us, we will find a way to ease and eventually settle the many bloodfeuds that exist between our people. We'll speak again soon, but until then I've a great deal of work to complete. Adieu, until then~."

Aldred said to Satoshi, "And the same to you queen. much luck to you in your endeavors."
