Summary: Artia discovers that Irenic is a "Baby Whisperer" of sorts. Manny = Male nanny.

The Imperial Library

A pair of large stone doors swing open to reveal the interior of a marble-floored tower, lined with shelves that house what has to be tens of thousands of books straight to the roof. Tall ladders made of steel with gold overlay are placed at random intervals, attached to the shelves by a track with wheels built in so one is able to maneuver them with simply a push to explore the leather-bound books more closely. The room is illuminated by windows carved out of the stone that makes up the library’s walls, in a pattern that takes all of the sunlight that beams through and uses it to its full potential on the inside of the impressive building. A barely noticeable trapdoor is located in the very centre of the ceiling, with a miniscule keyhole in its middle. To one with a quick eye, they would see the door for what it was, and know it leads to the restricted sections of the massive library. If one were to gain access to it, the trap door would pull downward to reveal a set of marble stairs that lead to the Imperial Library’s hidden and most protected books.

Artia had woken up before the child, her body alarm clock was working better then she hoped. She managed to wake up and quickly clean up, as well get ready for the day. Packing a pillow top blanket and some bright colored rings into a bag, along with the rest of baby needs. Peeking over to Ava-Marie, she was almost awake but not fully yet to needing, or wanting a tit in her mouth. Artia was adjusting to mother-hood, better then she thought. Still she had the puffy eyes from lack of sleep, quickly she brushed her long locks of hair. Slipped on a low V-neck dress on, matching her cyan eyes. Such a low neck dress made it easier to pull a boob out to feed her, today Artia wanted to go get a few books to spend the time in. Before she left, the child was completely changed, even a quick wipe now. Ava-Marie had a long gown on as per usual, lifting the bag then the child. Placing a tit in the child's mouth, walking by the kitchen she snagged a biscuit with a wink to Zachael. "Heading to Library if lady Brennia has need of us." With that she made it to he library, usually empty early in the day. Placing her bag down and laying the blanket on the ground, so the child can have her tummy time while Artia looked for a book in the close by area. By now it was time to switch to the other tit, once Ava was locked on the other one she could tuck the other one out of sight. Walking through the aisles, she pulled out two books so far. Looking down at the child, making sure it be safe to place her on the blanket without making her grumpy. Down the books went to the table, and the witch dropping to her knees breaking the latch on her tit. Which to her relief the child was fine with it, moving her upon her tummy. Then back into the bag while tucking the large breast away from sight, pulling out those bright colored rings. Laying them in front of her to help train Ava-Marie to lift her head.

Irenic and his new orphan 'little brother', Quizical had fallen asleep on the floor against a bookcase and leaned unto each other. The boy, no more than 9, was curled up on the Avians cushy wing with a book laid across his little lap and there was a bigger one between the two, even another laid across Irenic's lap. Irenic mumbles something in his sleep while the boy softly snores and one could easily put together he's of the orphanage in Hollow - scruffy hair, dirt streaked cheeks and his option to go barefoot though Irenic had gotten him boots. If one was able to creep closer to the pair they could see the books they were buried in were that of constellations and a fancy looking little hand held telescope or spyglass tucked in the young boy's arms. A snort of sucking snot was emitted through the library from he boy as the back of his hand rubs his nose during the deep slumber.

Artia thought Ava-Marie was happy, and continued to look for a book along the shelves near them. Until of course she let out a shrieking scream, which caused the witch to knock a whole row of books off the shelf. "Ava." all she said, clasping her heart. The child was maybe playing or wanted her mother? Either way the tiny grey wings were moving steadily against her back. Being on a library, the little one's sound echoed through out. Bending over she picked her up into a cradle, rocking her, shaking her head own with a smile down to her. "Did we find our self a loud sound?" But ava seemed to have scared herself, and began to cry. "Shh.." Artia said continuing to rock her, calming the young one down. "Now, I do not think you are-" Never mind she was trying to find a nipple against her mother's dress. "I swear you only want me for my tits." Naturally she whipped out her breast and gave the child what she wanted. Back to sitting down, she began to read an actual romance novel. 'A Knight & His Maid' it was titled, she never read these before but now she figured why not escape into a romance book.

Irenic and Quizical shot up at the sound for the library is actually quite vacant, as is the town. He had in hand his Raven hilted sword while the boy had a silver dagger which nearly looked like a sword for a boy his size and Irenic's boots, Quizical's bare feet, thudded quickly through the place after they unburied themselves from the books to help fend off any intruders. Once those mismatched eyes caught sight of Artia he let out a relieved sigh and sheathed his blade. He missed the feeding show when he looked to Quizical to do the same (putting away his weapon) and the boy followed suit. "Ooo, look Sir Featherstick! A baby!" The both of them lazily slumped on over to the two while wiping sleep from their eyes as Irenic said, "That it is. And if it isn't Miss Artia Kerrigan." He has had no news of what's happened with Odhranos and possibly Artia will sense something different about this man once more... His posture more straight, that of a military man, and that same devilish smirk greeted her just like the first night they spent together. Maybe he got his memories back - maybe not all of them.

Artia looked up to his gorgeous mismatched eyes, this man knew how to take the breath away by just that smirk. But shortly that was gone, as she noticed his posture and a young boy beside him. "Just Artia, Irenic, Odhranos is dead. I am officially a widow for the past four months now. This is my daughter, Ava-Marie. Half avian." That smirk though, it caused a brow to loft looking back upon his face. "Who is this?"

Irenic scowled softly at the thought of her being alone as that brow quirked, but something dark glinted within those eyes, for only a moment. "Half Avian you say?" He looked down at the suckling baby with almost a grin as those long tattooed arms reached out, "May I?" The boy stood up on his tip toes to try and see the baby and Irenic introduces, "Artia, meet Quizical. Squire Quizical meet Artia." He left it at that as he didn't want to complicate the boy's comprehension of babies and ex fiancés. The boy stepped to Artia in a deep bow, "Merry Meet, Madame Artia and Lady Ava-Marie." None of them had to whisper in he vacant library and as if mocking Irenic his fist went over heart and those big doe brown eyes looked up with a playful smirk for the woman - as if taking a charming page right out of Irenic's book. Quizical even offered a wink causing Irenic to chuckled, "Alright lady killer... Can you get one of those books we had?"

Artia tilted her head, grabbing a blanket to cover herself up switching her to the other nipple after he tried to get peek. A soft glare was given, "Yes I had an oops night with Arcos after a fight with a lycan, got caught in moment. Quizzical, nice to meet you." Nodding a yes to Irenic, letting him take the child out from under the blanket. She had to laugh at the boy, tucking her breast from view. Than folded the blanket and put it up in the baby bag, marking her page. To mess with the boy, "Is he mature enough for a women like me?" Winking at Quizzical.

Irenic looked a little surprised at the look he earned from Artia, "I don't care how she was made. No judgements here... Ever." Once those mismatched eyes set on the baby, which was surely upset she was pulled away from her snack, his grin turned into a... What!? A smile!? Has he ever smiled like that? His chuckle came easier at the whining baby and he shifted her from a cradled position to hold her at the sides in front of his face. He made a raspberry sound with this scarred lips and the baby went silent and widened its gaze on the man. Little fingers reaching out to pull at his lips earning another chuckle from Irenic and a playful chomp at her little baby fingers which now got him a little smile from he baby. The boy returned with his book and set it on the table with a sigh when he heard Artia's question. "I will have you know, Madame, that what I lack in height I make up for in knowledge and wisdom." So full of arrogance and attitude just like Irenic as he shrugs at her, "Your loss, lady." He sat and started to flip through the book of stars. "Whoa," is all Irenic would say after a moment of gazing at the baby in his hands as his left brown eye was picking up on something magical on the baby, "She's got... Something about her... I can see a sort of blueish gray aura emitting from her." The baby starts to fuss once more and as if instinctively he turns her to lay across his forearm and he pats her back firmly to burp her, but not without pulling a little burp rag to place on her developing wings as you can't be too careful with those. "Aw, her little grey wings are so cute..." Um, Irenic! 'Aw'!? And 'cute!?' What heck, man!? This is definitely a side to him that not many get to see.

Artia wanted to take Ava-Marie back from him, hearing how upset she was at being taken from her mother's warm embrace. But watching how he interacted so quickly, how fast she responded to him. That was not what she expected, the boy was ignored as her attention was on irenic. "Are you feeling okay?" Once he began trying to burp her, she got up and placed a towel just incase some spit up came along. "I use to dream this is the way you would've been with our child, not that you remember any of that part of your life." She double checked herself, usually her crying made her leak. Okay, she was good for the moment. Then Ava-Marie released a loud burp, with a soft coo. "So, what's with all the 'aww' and 'cute'?"

Irenic gently placed a hand on Artia's shoulder to sit her down and take the extra rag from her as he walked around the table with a spring or bounce in his step to keep the baby calm. "Actually, I remember most of it just not the Irenic stuff... So, I actually prefer Edlin now." He let out a soft sigh, "Yeah... Too bad it didn't work out." When she pointed out his weakness he scoffed with a playful scowl, "Are you judging me, Artia?" He 'tsk, tsk's at her while burping the baby still to keep her calm until another big burp came from the little angel. "Uh oh." He felt something warm and wet dripping down his elbow earning a, "Ew! Babies are gross no matter how cute they are!" from Quizical. Irenic chuckled once more as he used the spare rag to clean the both of them up causing the baby to start to softly whine. "Oh no! Shh shh! It's okay bird-ay," he holds her like he did before and blows a raspberry with his lips in front of her face earning a smile once more and placing her over the dry burp rag on his shoulder. The baby nuzzles in Irenic's tattooed neck while his forearm now supports the baby under her butt and the other hand caresses a fingertip down the spot where her wings meet earning a subtle flutter from them. The child almost immediately falls asleep upon him. Quizical almost said something before Irenic gave him a signal to whisper and he boy followed order, "What did you just do?" A smirk was given to the boy as he answered in a hushed tone, "A trick my parents said used to work on me as a baby." This earned a jealous frown from the orphan boy as he never even knew his own parents, but was all smiles again when Irenic padded the boy on the shoulder with and understanding gleam.

Artia sat down, crossing her long legs. His words brought forth a stutter, she couldn't form a single sentence at this moment. Clearing her throat, she reached for her book to hide her blushing. "I wish it did, if I could turn back time.. It would have been great growing old with you." She whispered it out, just couldn't keep the thought inside. "Nope, not at all. I think I have a baby sitter now, if I ever date again." At the 'uh oh' she looked up, to see she had spit up. Even when she fussed he was able to put her back to sleep, "Yes definitely a baby sitter." She teased him, "I'm glad you are good with children."

Irenic flashed that charming smirk at Artia while he quietly took a seat next to her and easily switching the baby to his other shoulder without so much as a peep coming from the slumbering baby and she seemed to have a satisfied smirk on her lips from the smell of Irenic. He whispered to Artia, "Sure, what's the pay like?" He winked at her for she knows he would watch the little one for free. He wiggles his brow at Artia now, "Ooo who's the lucky guy? And IF you ever date again? I guarantee a man will sweep you off your feet." The confidence giving off a palpable contagiousness while one of his wings reached over to sort of softly thwap her on the shin as if to say 'don't be silly'. Without missing a beat Quizical whispers, "Me, I'm the lucky guy." Then the boy winces as Irenic had given him a gentle kick to the shin. Quizical sticks his tongue out at Irenic, "You snooze you loose Featherstick." He quietly snickers at he boy making sure to stay quiet for he softly snoring baby in his possession.

Artia blushed, crossing her arms pouting at the smile he gave her. she didn't want to blush, and he caused it, her heart was still his. As much as if she wanted to deny it, it was visible. She watched how graceful he was with the child, "What you want for pay?" She leaned in towards him, until the boy said it was him. Giggling she looked at him, then Irenic kicked him. Rolling her eyes, "No lucky guy, I don't think I ever want to put my heart in jeopardy again or the work into such turmoil. No man will want me now, I'm doing the single mom life from here on out." The wing was smacked at lightly to move away from her shin.

Irenic shook his head as he paused a long moment in the silence while looking at her, "I think you deny how strong and desirable that will make you. What guy wouldn't want a woman who can not only do well for herself, but a growing new creature." The baby stole his gaze when there seemed to be a rumble in her diaper before scanning the area for Artia's provisional baby bag, there it is, between them. "You have to own your power, not just as a witch, not just as a confident woman, but as a mother… I don't think you see how valuable you are." His kind words were purely platonic except for this last part, "I see now why I was drawn to you in the first place and I hate to say it, but I am glad I do not remember the moments which lead to my near death." During his little pep talk slash speech he was rifling through her bag to find a clean cloth diaper and a changing towel. Laid out the towel and swiftly changed the still slumbering baby without disturbing her dream-land and cleaning her up as if it were second nature. Where he learned these parenting skills will have to be answered for an asked question to bring about a story for a different day, but he didn't hesitate in the slightest with applying baby powder and swaddling the baby into a clean cloth diaper while expertly wrapping the stinky one in a tight ball, then placing that in a leather bag as to trap the smell. He lifted Ava-Marie and gently handed her back to her mother after he spotted Quizical falling asleep atop his book once more. "Let me know whenever you need a night to yourself, for you must take care of you, too, Artia." he would gently pat the top of her head as he's done so many times before and then he moves to cradle the little sleeping boy in his arms to leave the Library for they had a long night, but the orphanage will be missing him too much longer.
