Part of the Rest in Pieces: Vailkrin! Arc

Summary: News of the graveyard being robbed overnight reach House Nasar, where Lady Collete Nasar puts two and two together on how much of a threat House Dragana is to her way of life. Taking this to Elioyahazer, he orders her to gather as many as she can to discuss the looming threat.

OOC Note: NPC played by Lady Larewen herself.

Leafy Arches/House Nasar

Elioyahazer once again wakes from a dream of terrorizing mortal kind. Filled with death and senseless violence, but lo and behold there is a grin etched upon his ashen features. While sitting up in his bed, a pain wracks his side, reminding him of yesterday's battle. Things had gone well. His troops survived, he received their oaths, including the former Dragana members and before he had the chance to sleep, more joined. His deeds were spreading like plague in the city. Some joined to be part of that power. Others joined for what they believed safety. Still there were those who believed Eli might take down Larewen. Regardless of what Eli planned, he stands and dresses for the day. He needed to find Lady Nasar. It isn't long before he is once again garbed in armor and out of his bedroom in Nasars home, wandering until he finds her.

Collete can be found at the entrance to her house, the door open. Just outside, a messenger employed by House Nasar relayed news to her. Whatever it was, it was upsetting her. The woman's jaw clenches and with a huff she dismisses the courier. The door slams as she steps back into the foyer and turns, gaze falling upon Elioyahazer. Thinly-veiled rage paints her features. "It wasn't enough," Collete growls. "The graveyard's been overturned. Bodies are missing. Lots of them." Her cold blue eyes simmer.

Elioyahazer lofts a questioning brow in her direction. What does she mean it isn't enough? Their goal was to free the city, have they suddenly not accomplished this goal? Yes, endgame for Collette is to destroy Larewen, but things would never go that far. “What do you mean? The city is still free of her presence isn't it?” He wondered what bit of news was delivered. What happened to make this woman so angry. More importantly he wanted to know what's responsible for the smile that he's holding back. And then he hears of it. So Larewen made a move, perfect. Amass another army Dragana, Nasar will fall soon enough. “So you think she made a move to strike the city or protect herself?”

Collete shakes her head, ebon tresses bouncing with the movement. "Not to protect herself. The forest. That damned forest she's been hiding out in all these years," she says, her ire slipping into her tone. "The bounties make sense now. Especially the one on the wolves. She's amassing an army. An actual army. She's been toying with us." The criminal guised merchant remains oblivious to Elioyahazer's motive: his fallout with his master and subsequent victory over the woman brought hope to the Houses. Hope that they could preserve their unification. That they had found stability. That they could keep their utopia, even in Kasyr's absence. And now? Now all of that relied on a single person. Someone that could defeat her. For a brief moment, terror flickers through her eyes. If Larewen had been toying with the city the past couple years with her war, then what was she planning. "Elioyahazer. You're the only one that has bested her. This must end."

Elioyahazer furrows his brows and clenches his jaw. This is Collette, the terror behind Nasar? He wants to laugh, right in her face - but he doesn't. He steps forward once and explains the situation. “You're right. Their most likely is an army in the forests. It's probably been there for sometime.” Eli takes a breath and turns his gaze away for a moment. This part was crucial. “We can win this, but my strength needs your help. Use your resources and gather corpses, slain beasts, whatever. We can make use of the local Necromancers who stand against Larewen. Bring those people here for a dinner party and discussion. During that time I will lay out our plan of attack to all of you. For now, I'll ask my soldiers to patrol the city, and even scout a bit.” Patrol the city. Laughable. They won't be looking for Dragana forces, but he will ask them to keep the peace. Meanwhile, he needed a reason to slay Nasar for Vailkrins eyes. It was time to falsify evidence. “Can you do that? Vailkrin depends on you for this. I will defeat her once more, but I'll be holding you to your promise.” There isn't a shred of doubt in his eyes.

Collete gives a sharp nod of her head. Larewen threatens her world. Elioyahazer can save it: she needs to have that woman taken care of. She isn't alone in the that thought: this is how the general populace of Vailkrin feels. Why else are they showing up on House Nasar's doorstep? Now isn't the time to let her own fear cloud her judgment on what is best for her own position in Vailkrin. She has the wealth necessary to nip Dragana's potential in its bud, and she means by which to do so right in front of her: Elioyahazer. In that moment, House Nasar realizes the importance of their present stance in holding back a madwoman. "I'll see it is done right away," she says. "We'll see to it that we stop her before she becomes a bigger problem."

Elioyahazer gives Collette a solid nod in confirmation. “For the future of Vailkrin.” Oh the lies he's told this foolish woman. It's really quite sad, honestly. Here her biggest hope stood -- but stood against her in secret. Everything will fall into place just as he had planned. “Thank you.” Another Curt nod is given to her. “If you'll excuse me, I need to inform my troops of their patrol routes and begin gathering intel on what we might be facing.” Elioyahazer waits for only a moment for her response and takes off. First to write a letter. Next he issues orders to his troops to patrol the city and keep the peace. Report any irregularities. Lastly he confronts the old Dragana guards. “You three will be my scouts.” Without a word, the sealed letter is handed to the necromancer that Elioyahazer has acquired - her eyes light up when she realizes what name is written upon it. Eli gives her a single glance in warning; stay silent. “These are my instructions and the areas I want details on. Bring me back any information you might find. Understood?” Without waiting for a response, the desert born leaves.

Colette slips away after Elioyahazer and descends into a room hidden beneath her manor. It's easiest to reach her contacts that way, to spread the word faster than a single messenger could to a city without a king. House Nasar needs more forces to accompany Elioyahazer, to ensure that the threat to Vailkrin and to her House ends before Larewen can gather any more bodies.
