RP:Teaching a Genasi Lesson One

From HollowWiki

Summary: Emilia has accepted the aide of Xzavior in training her elemental powers. Having found Emilia at the Red Orge Inn Xzavior invites her out to his cabin for her first lesson; relax. As it turns out Emilia is not an easy ordinary student which makes her anything but boring and Xzavior more excited to find a way to teach her.

Xzavior was this time sitting at the table, and instead of alcohol he had a cup of coffee still feeling a bit tired from the night before. Though if you paid close attention he seemed a little more excited and energetic for what was to happen today. With a drink of his coffee he looked out the window with a grin on his face.

Emilia wandered down the hall from the Inn into the common area once more, only today the Gemasi had a small skip in her step as she traveled. The tiny woman scanned the room with those icy-blue eyes searching for newest addition of friends in her circle. Ah, there he was sitting at a table drinking coffee. A moment of a frown as the woman realized she could no longer remember the taste of coffee, a drink she once thrived off of. Finding her way through the crowd she ended when she was standing next to the half-snake male, “Hello there, Xzavior.”

Xzavior sensed the cold woman and turned to face her with a grin, "Hello again, Emilia. How have the days been treating you?" He used his tail to move a seat for her to sit and motioned for her to join him. "I actually was just here to see you too!" He chuckled to himself at the thought of her being his student still not used to the idea of actually having one, technically he as still a student himself! Though for a completely different field.

Emilia slid up into the chair that had been presented to her by the naga. Sitting in the chair the small woman barely looked big enough to sit within the chair without a booster seat. Imagine the small lady pregnant with three halfings in that belly of hers. “I can say that this week has been an interesting one for me. More than once in the last few days people have been seeking me out. I don’t know if I should be honored or worried.” There was a gentle smile on those pale-blue lips as she finished talking.

Xzavior gave a small shrug, "Depends on what they're after." He still wore a grin. He took a drink of his coffee and evenly said, "Well, what I am here for is definitely something good though. I was thinking that after this cup of coffee we go and start working on teaching you to keep your cool."

Emilia gave a small giggle, the sound like ice-cubes clinking against glass. “I think that would be nice, but you realize the challenge you have taken on, right? You are attempting to tame an element that is dangerous and wild?” She never really put much thought into what it was that she had changed into prior to a meeting with a curious raven haired woman that she met here in Larket. Once again she was in search for answers and herself on top of everything else she had piled on her plate.

Xzavior laughed and put his cup aside, "Oh, I think I'm fine. I've lived in the element for many years. It's also the reason my scales are the color they are." He gave his tail a small twitch as he mentioned it. "Like I said the first time, I can do pretty well when it comes to cold things." With that he moved his ice blue tail up and into the coffee and without missing a beat froze it instantly before lifting the now frozen liquid out of the cup.

Emilia should have been impressed by the frozen coffee that Xzavior produced with a touch of his tail, but she was not. The woman had learned that if she was not careful she would turn everything she touched into ice. “I would like to say that I have spent years in the element that makes me what I am, but sadly it seems I have lived with the element binded away for longer than I have been truly part of it.”

Xzavior placed the coffee cube back in the cup and brought it to his lips and actually drank warm coffee from it. though the cup was still cold, "It doesn't matter really, you can use it and use it well. Admittedly you don't have any control over it but still." Quickly finishing off the rest of the coffee he came to a stand, "I also have a place that you can actually practice without worrying about freezing anything over. I have a cabin out in Kelay that will do just the job for us."

Emilia would slid from the chair as he finished his coffee offering a small shrug at his statement, “You will say that now, but keep in mind that months ago I was able to use my skills to bring a sunken ship up from the bottom of the ocean. I have accidentally turned my home into an igloo and I am sure that if it correct from what I have been told I could turn an entire city into another Frostmaw. But, I will try to not turn your cabin into an ice world.”

Xzavior raised a finger looking as professional as possible, "First lesson. I am the most laid back person you'll meet. If you do something destructive I'll fix it later," He gave her a joking grin and added, "and a winter cabin doesn't sound half bad." As he went to the door he looked over his shoulder still wearing a mischievous grin, "My cabin is a fair distance away so it might take a bit. Unless... have you ever gone tail surfing?"

Emilia moved to follow along behind the man being careful so that she did not step on that tail of his. Then she stopped and asked a question that left a blank look on her face, “I am afraid I have never heard of tail surfing and would then have to say that I have not gone tail surfing before.” She had however created a tornado of snow in Frostmaw and traveled along the frozen city inside such a creation.

Xzavior looked over his shoulder at his tail before looking back to her, "If you're wearing high heels then I'd ask you take them off but otherwise hop on my tail and hold on. And yes, I've definitely had something larger then you on my back before. Two somethings in fact." Opening the door he waited for her to either accept or reject her offer.

Emilia glanced down at his tail and then to her bare feet then back up to the Naga. Shoes? She hated such things on her feet and only wore boots when she had to have something on her feet, but even then the fact they always seemed to get filled with snow was a pain. Either way, she was curious enough to experience this tail surfing. And so the tiny woman carefully stepped up onto said tail and held on, however she barely seemed to weight a thing as her frozen form stood on Xzavior, sending a rushing wave of winter chill over him with the physical contact.

Xzavior remained unfazed to the cold that she gave off and with a devious grin said "Hold on tight!" Before taking off, naturally fast enough to match a horse but careful enough to give Emilia an even ride as he went. Easily dodging anyone who entered their way and any trees or animals as they traveled through the forest.

Emilia would hold tight as the male started off out of Larket through the forests toward his cabin home in the southern parts of Sage. It was a different experience, that is for sure. The little woman glad to be back on solid ground as the arrived. Bits of frost left behind where she’d been standing on his scales. “Well, that was interesting...truly interesting.” She would admit aloud.

Xzavior gave a laugh as she stepped off, flicking off the frost she left behind, "So far I've only met one person that truly enjoyed that! Guess it isn't for everyone." With a shrug he motioned her to follow him to a clearing he made after having a spar in the area, only a short distance from the cabin itself. "Alright, I want you to completely relax. I noticed that when the Grey came along that one night you accidentally made a snow cloud. It's not a surprise that emotions can trigger responses with your magic, I'll actually start to frost over when I get mad. So I want to see what happens when you completely relax."

Emilia followed along behind keeping a watchful gaze on the sights along that path that lead to the clearing he brought her too. “Can you define relax?” It was a silly question, but one would have to keep in mind the ice-woman was a mother of three toddlers and a business woman of more than one farm across the land leaving the term not frequently in her vocabulary. Em could no truly name a time that she was ever truly relaxed, “I don’t think I know how to even find the state of being your are talking about...”

Xzavior shook his head and gave a look of mock disappointment, "Not even able to relax. What am I going to do with you." He looked up with a look as if in thought, "Alright, right now, take slow, deep breaths and loosen up any tension you might have starting with your shoulders and work your way down repeating that every time you exhale. That tends to help. Next, imagine yourself in the one place you truly enjoy and would do anything in the world to be at. Then, throw out any thoughts you might have, good or bad, as if you haven't got a care in the world and nothing could ruin the moment." He began to grin as he started thinking of it himself. "Finally imagine that someone is there giving you a massage as it happens. You don't have to but it might help."

Emilia thought this man was crazy as she listened to him explain what it is to be relaxed and how to go about finding a state of relaxation. As if she didn’t believe his theory she gave an eye roll at him taking him as a crazed man, but she would give it a go for his sake. Besides what kind of student would she be if she didn’t try to follow instruction. And so that little lady closed those eyes of hers, took in a slow deep breath as she rolled her like one may when stretching. Slow inhales followed by exhales as the woman searched for a place within her head that would find peace, a place she would give anything to be. Slowly a vision of a farm found its way to the woman with six people gathered around the field chasing lightning bugs while the sun was setting. An on looker to the place and not a part of the silliness. With the peace that settled over the woman the world in the clearing would change. A layer of frost spreading out from the feet of the tiny lady to cover the ground of the clearing. Frost would turn into a thick layer of ice and the air itself would drasticly drop to below freezing causing the moisture in the change to form soft gentle flakes of fluffy snow. And so as the lady relaxed the more winter consumed the clearing, snow and cold taking over everything until that moment was destroyed when that place of peace was lost. The air started to stir with a gusting angry wind carrying with it small bits of hail that descended the upon them. Gusting wind that caused white curls to whip dangerously around the woman before with a sudden scream sharp spikes of ice erupted from the ground around the Genasi, encircling her in a protective fence. The scream startled her back to reality causing the near winter storm to end leaving Em blinking as she stared out to Xzav on the other side of the ice-spikes, “Sorry...”

Xzavior smiled as he watched her close her eyes and crossed his arms as he watched the reaction closely. The frost that formed was uninteresting given that she could do that at any time but as soon as it grew thicker and the temperature dropped his smile turned into a grin. He looked around as the snow started to fall and went to catch some of the flakes with his hand, when the wind picked up he didn't move other than bringing his tail closer to his base as to brace himself against it and threw up his own canopy of ice using the surrounding area to protect himself from the worst of it. It was a good thing this area was already wrecked from his own icy ministrations. She was great! The fact that this was only happening because she was relaxing was a wonder to behold, Xzavior would have had to take a minute to do something this big whereas she took literal seconds to do this. He was still grinning like a mad man as she continued to relax but jumped at the unexpected screaming and ice spikes. Instead of getting scared or mad he grew curious. Why did those appear? She wasn't in any danger but was in a state of relaxation. As the storm died down he made his way over to her and poked the tip of a spike with his finger. "Razor sharp. Nice!" Pressing a hand to the spikes directly in front on him he turned each one to snow, adding to the powder already on the ground. Waving her out of her circle of protection he smiled with a chuckle, "Don't be. I told you to relax and you did! Great first time by the way," He took one look around at the results. Guess she was right. She did turn his cabin into a winter wonderland. "Alright, so here is what I think, you've got a lot of potential, and that once you can control your power to its fullest you'll be one hell of a cryomancer. If you want that is." Clearing his throat he crossed his arms and with a sigh his face grew a serious edge to it, "Here is where things get technical. In cryomancy, equivalent exchange is key, you can't make anything cold without first removing the heat from the specific thing you are trying to freeze. Now, when you do freeze something, that heat doesn't just disappear, it is instead stored for later use, I use it to keep my body warm. I believe that you break that law.Since you are an ice elemental your body does not need heat to sustain itself, and since that power was contained it basically overloaded your body and right now it was trying to even it out. So next time I am going to get you a pair of earplugs. I don't want you stopping until I tell you too. Don't worry about me or your surroundings. Cabins can be rebuilt and forests regrow."

Emilia watched as he melted the spikes of ice into a pile of snow to add with that which had already fallen to the ground. It was then she decided to let him know more about what had just happened, “I found a place of peace that you were talking about, but it didn’t last that long before it turned into bloodshed and death...” And there he would find the explination to the sudden screaming from the little lady along with the response of the spikes of ice and hail. “I really do not know much about this peace and relaxation that you talk about...My world is maybe a moment of peace before things turn into sadness and darkness...”

Xzavior paused and sighed. He gave her a sympathetic smile, "What did I say? No thoughts other then the place of your dreams." He placed a hand on her shoulder and motion for her to follow him. "Come on, we can talk inside. Don't worry about the snow or anything. I'll handle it later." If she followed him inside he would point over to the living room with the couch and chairs as he went into the kitchen and say, "Want anything to drink?"

Emilia would indeed follow the man that she had recently met and chose to trust with her training of her skills in the ice world into his cabin home. In part she felt bad for turning his area into a winter wonderland, but then she didn’t because he was totally fine with it. How strange a feeling to have someone so accepting to her snow and cold. Inside the small one would find a seat in one of the chairs as he ventured off into the kitchen, “Water would be good, thank you.” She would offer a gentle smile his way.

Xzavior gave a nod and went to grab a cup. Placing it on the counter he gathered the moisture from the air he formed an ice cube the size of the cup before restoring the temperature and melting the ice. He poured himself a cup of ale before moving to the living room and handing her her drink. Taking a seat on the couch nearby he took a drink and asked, "Relaxing seems to be a bust for now. What caused those images? You seem like such a peaceful person."

Emilia took the offered glass from the man with a gentle smile across those pale blue lips of hers, “I seem like such a peaceful person, true. But that does not mean that I lived a life of peace. My life has been a series of bad luck as one may call it. I do not have many memories to fall back upon that are truthfully peaceful. Earlier? Chasing the lightning bugs with my siblings and parents before it all turned into a replay of their murder by the bandits.”

Xzavior frowned slightly as she finished her small story, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bring up bad memories. Truthfully I don;t have any good memories of home either, but I'm not sure how I would respond if I saw what you did. I'm really impressed at how well you seem to be handling it now. If there is anything you need to talk about, at any time. I'm all ears."

Emilia shook her head slowly, “Watching my four siblings and two parents be murdered is nothing compared to the time that came after that...The whipping post in punishment for each one’s death followed by being put into a few years of slavery to a most wicked man. I am not really a fan of whips in life after that, but I will admit that after a few years of that I killed the man and took off living on the streets until I was able to start the farm up again myself, then being careful each year to not get killed myself when the bandits came back for another attempt at my life....Life is hard and cruel and I do not want my children to live in a life with pain and sorrow like I lived.”

Xzavior furrowed his brows this time. He might have only met her recently but her story made him mad, "The wickedness of man really doesn't know any bound. My statement still stands but I will also say that if you ever need a place to stay, that if anything ever happens you can come and bring your children here for as ever long as you need. In truth I'm only here to get away from everything and so far only two people know if this place and one of its location so you'll be safe here. Though I hope that you never have to take me up on that offer."

Emilia continued to smile, a wider smile than previously when he presented his offer to her. “I will bare that in mind if I ever do need to find a safe place to get away with the children. I may not ever need such a place. My husband is rather a feared creature in the lands by many so I think we are safe with him. His name is Xersom though most call him X. You may or may not have heard of him before. But I thank you for the offer of your home to use.”

Xzavior chuckled, "Sadly I haven't, I think I should at some point though. Though I'm still a bit concerned about those memories of yours. They might get in the way I might have to try and find a new way to teach you. I'll still find a way but it might take a bit."

Emilia lifted the glass of water to her lips finally. The drink was slowly consumed by the tiny lady without a break from start to finish before the Genasi would stand and offer him the glass back. “While you dwell upon the best way to train against memories of darkness I must be getting back home to the little ones. Thank you for taking time to each me, even if my case is anything but easy and ordinary. Have a wonderful evening.” A small curtsy before she turn to promptly make her leave from his home. The children would be waiting, cannot keep the little ones waiting.

Xzavior offered her a nod, "Easy and ordinary are just boring. I believe that you'll make an excellent student. I hope you have safe travels." He stood and gave her a bow.
