Mage's Library

As you stand here, towers of bookshelves completely surround you. Most of them look to be magical in nature, but there are books of more mundane subjects in the library. Some are for spell research, some are about the history of spell casting and magic, while others are just lists of spell uses and objects. The cases are of a dark oak or pine, and glow a little at the ends, where runes have been placed to protect these sources of information from aging and decay. There are tables all over the room, with people of quite a few races sitting and studying. You notice a small door behind the rows of shelves to the north, and as someone opens and enters the room you see that it is the dormitory for those who stay here and study. To the east are two massive doors with designs carved into them, a golden dragon on each door.

Raevyn looked better. Much, much better- At least outwardly. No longer was her hair a tangled rat's next. Her cheeks, while still pale, had a bit more color to them than before. She seemed relaxed, and content- Partially due to having been able to eat and bathe, and mostly due to the fact that she was where she felt most comfortable, nestled amongst a large stack of books in her favorite library. Before her she had two open tomes, and a per pages of parchment in which she scribbled on. She seemed hard at work, copying text and images as she scrolled through the old archaic pages. A momentary pause would find the ebon dressed woman reaching for a shiny red apple nearby, a crisp crunch ringing out as she tore a chunk from its fruity flesh. Raevyn sat back then, letting the quill in hand fall against the table while she enjoyed her snack.

Artia had entered the library wanting to read up on necromancy and see if she could find anything that would help her with her own version of necromancy. Moving through the aisle with a notebook pressed tightly to her chest. A hand running along titles trying to find a title to most interest her. Moving to walk around to the next aisle to spot Raevyn, a smile forming upon such sensual plump lips. She looked great, and glad to see her doing so well. Raevyn didn't look so dirty or as sick as she seemed when Artia found her at the ranch. Moving behind Raevyn then deciding to walk around the table to the front view of the young lady to keep from startling her. "Hey."

Raevyn returns a smile and a slight wave of her fingers, the apple upon which she ate from set down next to her stack of books. Her posture straightened and she folded one hand on top of the other in her lap. "Oh, hello Artia. Nice to see you, today. What brings you by the library?" Her cheerful tone shifted as she asked, "Oh, um, did you happen to see... 'it' on your way in? The rotten one, I mean."

Artia gave her one of her famous smiles she always gave her friends that were dear to her. "I am looking for information on necrobotany or look up tips for getting better at enhancing what I have now. It's always nice to see you, anywhere and any time of day. You are such an amazing lady, and a person I consider my friend." Sitting down, shaking her head, "The creature that you possibly called to you? Yes he is keeping it's distance, ever thing of finding a way for communication?"

Raevyn was somewhat embarrassed by the outspoken gift of praise Artia had placed upon her, cheeks tinting with rose. Her head bobbed, shiny locks of black waving with the motion. "Thank you, Artia. You are too kind. I do so value our friendship, as well." nervousness presented itself as the young woman began to chew on her lip, Artia's latter-most words bringing with them news she did not want to hear. She had expected as much, but still, she had been hopeful that the thing would have given up by now. "I see." she stated, plainly. She gazed down at her books in silence for a few moments, trying to process the idea of communication. She had screamed at the thing a couple times now to leave her alone, but still it followed. Why? What exactly drew it to her? "I don't know. I am not even sure where to begin looking... " She finally said. "I am deeply disturbed by it. It just... watches me. And stares. That lifeless, unblinking stare. I don't like it, and I wish it would go away." Raevyn looks up and over to Artia. "I suppose I will have to think of something. So... tell me about this... necrobotany? How did you acquire this gift exactly?"

Artia got up and moved to sit beside Raevyn, running a hand along the the clean hair chuckling at her blush. "Relax, always feel relaxed with me around. I won't ever hurt you unless you ask for it." pausing, "I'm kidding I still wouldn't hurt you of you even asked." Artia had a necromancer once trick her into believing her now ex husband was dead in order to get close to her and aim to make the once witch his. But he failed at trying to make her his, she didn't budge. "I have no clue where to look either..it is so aggravating." Crossing her legs, and hands on top her knee. "Maybe you need to poke it and see what it does? I have no idea what to do with that creature, maybe throw rocks at it. If knock flesh off you win the game?" She wanted to know about necrobotany, "Okay, so when I was human...i could heal flora and fauna. I could communicate with them. When I was sired, i lost that gift. In return I can kill flora, fauna anything living with a touch of my hand. In doing so, I channel dead flora to be a weapon or animate the dead. I can reanimate flora and fauna only, the black fog I summit carries acid that melts things down to nothing but dust."

Raevyn lifted a slender brow as she listened to Artia's suggestions, the jest and humor met with a perplexed smile. There was a bit of a shrug as she said, "I suppose." And left it at that. The more interesting information that came to light was met with a look of scrutiny, those black coated lips pursed in thought. Black fog that carries acid? Reanimate flora and fauna? How strange! "That is... a very interesting gift, Artia. Tell me, how and why did you become sired? Why would one want to give up the gift of life... for... that?"

Artia squirmed in her chair at Raevyn question, running her arm nervously. "After you left, Odhranos and I did a blood bond marriage. He wanted a child next, so I willingly allowed us to try." She was still hurting over the lose of the o e for the reason for the neck tattoo. The reason she wears her wedding ring on her right hand still. Instead doing the normal and putting it up, she still wore it. "Well, five months went by. My friends disappeared my sister left too. I was left alone. Pregnant and alone. I struck a deal with my sire in return of protecting my child til day she dies. She could sire me, I become her public advisor, her apothecary." She sucked her lip in, "Then Ava got to age where she didn't need my milk and Larewen came to claim the deal. Which broke the bond, and during this time I thought I was a widow. Fourteen months of Odhranos being gone, he comes back. We get engaged again, he is fine with everything. I got captured and kidnapped for a week, day after I'm free..." A few blood tears escaped her eyes, causing her to clear her throat but didn't help as the next sentence her voice cracked. "He saw me feed, it scared him so he broke it off with me no matter how I begged I caved and let us break up. Called off our wedding and us."

Raevyn not only looked surprised, but almost angry. The name 'Larewen' had seemingly rung a bell. The youth always felt something off about Larewen. The meeting between herself and the essence of Gheneroc was written off as a good thing. A new master to teach the student, something Larewen herself had helped set up. Yet, Larewen was a vampire? Raevyn could only reflect on the things that transpired before, and in this, she strengthened her convictions in that trusting people in this world was a dangerous thing. A gentle touch found Artia's shoulder, and the young woman said, "That is so tragic, I am deeply sorry to hear." There would be a sorrowful frown and her gaze dropped to the table, slightly shamed to have brought up something painful for her friend.

Artia cleared her throat, wiping the tears away. "Dont be, it's my fault. And his fault for chiding to help a dragon than care enough about his family. He doesn't even know Ava is cursed and aged. He is probably going to miss her first birthday. Any other questions?"

Raevyn shook her head in a brisk manner in part with her answer to Artia, "No, no." She felt it was better to drop the sore subject and possibly move onto something else; Something a bit easier to speak of, perhaps. "So. um..." she started, looking around to make sure none were near enough to listen. For good measure her voice lowered, "If one... were to look for answers regarding the forbidden art of Necromancy... where do you think one would look? I do not see any practicing such magics here, and I am in doubt that it would even be an accepted practice in this tower. Were I... come from.. such practices are punishable by death." A deep breath is taken before she further explained, "It's not that I necessarily want to become intertwined in the craft, but I have some... questions that need answering. Some curiosities, if you will."

Artia moved a hand over to rub Raevyn’s back, "The only person I know of is Draiman and Larewen, just don't make any deals okay? Can even go as far and say you ate my adopted something. It's safe to study it everywhere."

Raevyn picks up her apple and takes another bite, slowly chewing as she weighed Artia's information carefully. Draiman or Larewen. One of those names was definitely familiar, and one that she already knew to exercise caution around. Still, Larewen knew something deeper than what she let on, and may be the best chance in discovering the truth. "Do not worry. I have no plans on making any sort of... deal. Not again." Not again. Those words were accompanied by the caressing of the chain-like ink that kissed her neck, most of the tattoo covered by the high collar of her blouse. "Safe to study? Are you certain? It would be peculiar that the act of resurrecting the dead would be widely accepted. I mean, have there not been Necromancers that served dark and nefarious orders? In my homeland, there were tales of a pair of infamous practitioners that sought to bring upon an event of apocalyptic proportions. It is why the act was promptly outlawed, from my understanding."

Artia kissed Raevyn cheek as she stood up, "Yes to all those questions, I use to be a dangerous person before. I learned to control my temper though, but I need to get home. Ava isn't feeling good again."

Raevyn would offer the woman a smile and a bow of her head as she said, "very well. it was nice to see you again, Artia. Tell Ava I said hello." As Artia turned to leave, Raevyn would go back to her studies and copying of passages, there was still so much work to do!
