Healing Gylans broken arm

You turns towards Gylan, she can hardly see for tears and at first can hardly belive her eyes. She prays thankfully that he still lives, though he is pale and seems in a great deal of pain. The cause of his pain is obvious, one of his arms hangs uselessly from his side, she wipes away her tears, and moves a little closer to him. "I love you," she tells him "Everything is going to be alright I will take care of you." She works hard to calm both her breathing and her mind, using the meditation techniques Marcellus had kindly shown her. She lays her free hand gently on his shoulder, and focuses on the technique for taking away pain that Liana has taught her, she knows she must ease his pain, before attempting to realign the broken bone, putting it in the correct postion to heal is neccessary, if he is to have full use of his arm again.

Gylan lies on his back and grins widely up at Sophie as she speaks. "I love you, too, my dear. Are those tears for me? Takes more than that to bring me down." He moves to sit up, but the jolt of pain through his arms send him back to the ground with a curse and rattle of armor. "Yeah, okay. That definitely hurts a bit. Think I'll just lie here for a minute."

Sophie sends her awareness within Gylan's injured body, she can feel a great deal of pain emanating from his fractured arm, she follows the nerves from the arm, back to his spinal cord, then working very carefully, slowly reduces their ability to feel pain, she does not take away the pain entirely, she knows that this would be very dangerous, and might cause him to unknowingly injure himself further. She gradually lessen the pain until it is very slight however. She removes her awareness from within his body, back to her own, She gently kisses him on the forehead."Please lie still, my love while I work on mending this arm." She looks through her possessions and finds a wooden staff ( part of her merchant's goods). She stands for a moment, speaking gently and reassuringly to Gylan, and snaps the staff in two across her knee, thankful that it is thin enough for her break easily. She now has two lengths of wood, each about the length of the paladin's arm."This is going to hurt some, I am afraid." she warns him. The young elf then pulls on his arm in order to straighten it and line up the fractured pieces of bone, that they may heal properly. She winces as she sees the pain in his face, but continues with the necessary task, continuing to speak gently to him. Using bandages, she ties a piece on wood onto each side of the broken limb, fixing it in what she hopes is the correct position to heal. When she has finished, she once more sends her awareness within his arm, to check on how well she has aligned the bones, praying that she will not have to repeat the task and cause him further suffering. Thankfully, they are lined up well enough.

Gylan lies back as he said he would, still grinning. Adrenaline is still pumping furiously through his body as he remembers the battle with the roc and his subsequent fall. His arm throbs painfully, as Sophie begins her work. He breathes an audible sigh of relief as she deadens the pain and his breathing becomes normal. He actually almost falls asleep as he finds himself more and more comfortable. He smiles up to his beloved. "Thank you, my dear. I love you." Closing his eyes, the paladin centers his mind and blocks out all else around him. Because his mind is within, he fails to see what Sophie's doing and is brought out of his shell by the sharp jerking of his arm and the stab of pain that comes with it. He doesn't cry out, but clenches his teeth draws in a sharp breath. He wonders momentarily how that would have felt if she hadn't lessened the pain first.

Sophie gently embraces Gylan, from his uninjured side of course, tells him she loves him too, then continues with the work of healing him. She relaxes, calms her breathing and allows the life energy to flow into her centre from the world around her. She then lays her hands upon him and channels the enegy, within him. At first she sends a little of it throughout his entire body, he has suffered quite an ordeal after all. Soon, however she begins to focus the energy on to the injured arm, and more specifically on the break. She works hard, trying to use the energy to encourage the bone to knit back together, Sophie has little experience in this type of healing, and although she does have a little sucess, she becomes almost completely exhausted long before the break is completely healed. "We must leave these pieces of wood tied, in place for now,my dear," she tells him. " I shall try again when I am rested, or perhaps ask Gwen to help." She moves around to her beloved's uninjured side and leans against him to rest, wrapping an arm around his shoulder to comfort him.

Gylan concentrates on centering his mind and blocking the pain as his beloved works on his arm. He feels her life energy flow through him and finds his own spirit drawn to it. His spirit flows automatically toward her energy and intertwines with it, becoming one. His strength flows through and back into her helping her to maintain and heal him slowly. But soon, the two of them are both exhausted. As she finishes her work and lays against him, he wraps his uninjured arm around her and relaxes, already feeling much better.
