RP:Sophie and friends - The Sea Voyage begins

From HollowWiki

Setting

The beach at Cenril - Then out at sea Sept 16 2008

A gathering of old friends

Sophie smiles encouragingly at the suprisingly large gathered crowd who are joining her for trade and adventure in foreign parts, "Please follow me."

Elcy took of her war helm and let the fresh breeze from the sea blow through her hair, she looked over to her departing friend and sighed, "How nice to go on a trip, I wish I could go but I'm tied up with things to do. Where do you plan on going, Soph?"

Neophytus walks slowly through the cove. Being feline, he has always been wary of water, and the mention of a sea voyage unnerved him. However, his adopted brother, Miles, was ecstatic. "Neo, Neo! Can we go, pleeeeeease?" the kit had said. Seeing the fox's big azure eyes go watery, the sapient cat could not resist. Now, the vulpine hovered behind him excitedly.

Tirla flutters into the area again and lands, looking about and a smile crosses her face, this was the place where she first met Sophie, "So Sophie, where's the princess today, if I recall right she was with us the last time we were near this ship, and it took off with us, do you remember the look on her face that day?"

Ally walks into the area behind Tirla, a small sigh escapes her lips, she felt out of place among people she didn't know, her chocolate brown gaze drifts among the people here, She shifts her weight fron one foot to the other, a look of uncertinty was in her gaze.

Memories of the last departure from this Cove

Sophie remembers her last departure on a sea journey from this Cove. On that occasion the vessel she had boarded had been the Calico Queen with Tirla and Madeline.. Now she and her many companions will be sailing on 'The Rynvale Rogue." She looks forward to seeing many strange people and creatures in foreign lands. She always loves it when Gylan tells her tales of his days at sea. Gylan is delighted to be going to sea again too, he takes in a deep breath of the sea air, then begins to fidgit with his injured arm. "I don't think I need this sling anymore you know, it is much better, thanks to your healing magic." Sophie gently hugs her love, "Please leave it on for now, your arm is still weak and I would hate for you to break it once more." Tirla asks about 'the princess' and The young elf informs her that poor dear Maddie has been unwell of late.On hearing Elcy's question she smiles at her dear friend." This sea journey will call at many foreign lands, including Gamorg and the Dragon lands. I hope to bring back many exotic wares that I may sell, my dear.I still cannot believe that we were actually in the prescence of Lauria the other day, during the healing of the tree. It was an incredible blessing, was it not?" She opens her arms offering to embrace Elcy.

Elcy :Her eyes take on a blissful glaze at the mention of Lauria of the Grove, a slow smile spreads across her lips as she shakes her head to rouse herself from such memories. "Yes, indeed my dear, I doubt if I can get another chance to be near divinity like that. I'm still in a daze.", she said to Sophie. Turning to Gylan, she speaks in a lighter tone, "Ho, what's this, you've injured yourself? No matter, you have your own personal healer now.", she teased. The young paladin looks around and offers a friendly smile at the other soon to be passengers of the ship. "I wish you a safe and fruitful voyage."

Neophytus begins to ascend the gangplank, his fox sibling following closely in the air. Miles, now noticing the somewhat nautical attire of his friend, remarks loudly. "What's with the pirate getup, Neo? Are we gonna sail the high seas, plundering and pillaging?" The feline looks around as several fellow passengers begin to shoot nervous glances at each other. Neophytus scoops up the kit ot quiet him. "No, little brother. I am merely trying to set a mood. You excite far too easily..." With a chuckle, he leaps aboard the deck and sets the fox down.

Tirla takes a much different approach to boarding the ship than the others, she spreads her wings and flits up onto the deck, but she waits paitiently for Sophie to climb up before she asks a question, "Lauria of the Grove, that was the ascended's name that we saw this past day?" she ducks her head and feels that she needs to explain, "I'm foreign, I know not this lands Deities, I generally pray to Gia and Brighid."

Ally 's gaze flickers to Gylan before it flickers back to the ship, She had to stay away from him during this, She steps onto the plank and begins to walk up it, The half elf steps onto the ship before looking down the plank, auburn strands of hair fall onto her face, a small smiles plays on her lips as she calls down to the other," Are you coming or not." She seemed eager to be on a ship.

Elcy - My prayers for your safe return

Elcy looks on indulgently as her friends start to board the ship. Though her duties at the Temple cannot allow her to go, she is otherwise glad that two of her best friends are going on this exciting trip. "Enjoy yourselves, dears. My prayers for your safe return." She waves to all on the ship.

Sophie smiles at Elcy, she does indeed seem dazed after her encounter with an Ascendi. More so even than Sophie was. Gylan also smiles at his fellow Paladin and training partner, Elcy. "Yes, my own personal healer!" he agrees his grin widening. He wraps his good arm gently around Sophie. The elfess soon disentangles herself to give Elcy one last hug, before taking Gylan's hand and leading him up the gangplank onto the ship. She is a little surprised to see that Tirla has beaten them on board and laughs. "Handy things those wings of yours, my friend. Yes it was Lauria of the grove, the druidess amoungst the acscendii who graced us with her presence yesterday and aided in our monumental healing task."

Neophytus , not quite accustomed to the sea, stands next to Sophie. Miles trots to Gylan and begins an excited, but onesided conversation, about how he would like to learn the ways of the paladin. The sea breeze seems to energize the fox, which makes Neo glad, but it unfortunately does not grant the feline the same grace. The anthropomorphic cat holds his hand over his eyes to keep the salty spray from them as he watches the cliffs shrink back into the mist of the sea, then looks back at the passengers and tries to calm the instinctive dislike of water that lurks within his mind. Turning to Ally, he says, "So, you enjoy the sea?"

Tirla smiled at Sophie and nodded, "They are quite useful, just know they can also be a pain in the behind, gotta preen them, keep bugs and that out of them, and they have a tendancy to knock things over." She settles herself against the railing and looks over her Shoulder. Nixanna, wanting to show off had waited for everyone to board before she took a running start and leaped, sailing high enough and far enough to land on the railing , where she stood for several moments with a smile upon her lips before hopping down onto the deck.

Ally frowns as she starts to shiver. As Neophytus spoke, her gaze flickers to him,” I don’t know…This is my first time being on a ship…” She wraps her slender arms around herself , trying to keep warm. She frowns as she watches the cove disappear into the mist,” No turning back now.” She mutters to herself, Her gaze still flickering to the other passengers.

Seeminly endless, beautiful green ocean

Sophie is incredibly glad that she does not suffer from sea sickness as the people left on shore become smaller and smaller until they can no longer be distinguished. Gylan is delighted to feel to rolling of the deck beneath his feet. He went to sea as a boy of ten and has spent much of his life aboard ship. The paladin has finally had enough of the sling and removes it. " I shall be very careful will the arm," he assures Sophie on seeing her worried glance. Sophie stands at the rail and gazes out at the seeminly endless, beautiful green ocean, she is like an exited child, looking forward to the adventure to come. She then hears the worried tone in which Ally mutters" No turning back now". She turns to the half elf who has gone a little pale. "Don't worry my dear, it is a very solidly built ship, we are safe."

Neophytus , seeing Ally's uncomfortable shivering, offers his arm for an embrace. "Nothing more than to help you fight the cold..." he says quickly, so as to try and assure himself that he is not trying to be more than a good friend.

Ally smiles to Neophytus," I'm fine." She looks to Sophie and her smile falters alittle," I know...I've just always been afraid of water since my mother drowned." she frowned as Gylan mentioned his arm being hurt," What happened?" Her head tilted causing auburn strands of hair to fall onto her face.

I was just riding on the back of a roc, then fell down a cliff, all in a day's work

You leads Ally over to a bale of cotton, where she cannot see the sea, hoping to assuage her fears somewhat. Gylan laughs at Ally concern about his injury. " I was just riding on the back of a roc, then fell down a cliff, all in a day's work for a member of the Desert Legion Ally my, friend."

Tirla watched the others talk amongst themselves, simply sitting back enjoying the breeze, it was not often she got out among her two lesser elements, wind and water, well water, she was constantly surrounded by air. Nixanna was on the other hand a feline, and had to have the highest perch, so she scampered up the main mast and sat herself in the crow's nest, looking out over the sea and smiling.

Ally follows Sophie, her skin paler then normal, Her gaze flickers back to Gylan," You're crazy..I know that?" she then looks to Sophie," Thank you...." Her voice only above a small whisper.

Sophie cannot help but laugh at Gylan's nonchalant attitude to his injury, but she was horrified at the time when she saw him plummeting into that chasm to what she thought was certain death."Yes, he certainly is crazy," she agrees with Ally. Suddenly one of the ship's crew begins to point in horror at a point on the horizon, shouting something that Sophie cannot make out. Gylan reaches into his pack for his telescope that he found in the Goblin caves.

Tirla blinks as she hears one of the sailors yell out and point in horror. Her brow creased before Nixanna landed lighttly beside her, having climbed down so far then simply dropped, "That certainly wasn't a pretty sight, how well can this boat hold up against... large creatures?"Ally 's face pales more, Her eyes widen, and her hands started to shake with fear." What in the seven hells is that?"

A giant squid, seems to think the ship would make a nice snack

Sophie tries to make out what the distraught sailor is pointing at, but all she can see, even with her sensitive elven eyes is some sort of splashing disturbing the surface of the Sea. She is worried however to see, that it seems to be coming closer to them. Gylan removes the telescope from his eye. He speaks calmly, his training in the Desert Legion taking over in a crisis. " I have seen such a creature before," he says. "It is a giant squid, it seems to think this ship would make a nice snack. The crew are trying to out run it, but I suspect we may have to fight. I suggest everybody either gets below, or readies their weapons." Seamen are indeed running around frantically, unfurling more sails to try and increase speeed and escape the awful sea monster.

Tirla and Nixanna don't hesitate. Soon a sheild appears upon the avian's left arm and her hand reaches back to slide the sword from its hold, a ring of metal resounding through the area. Nixanna's move was silent as she fetched the two hand axes at the small of her back. Tirla looks over to Gylan, "If I remember right, attacking the tentacles is a good distraction, but the eyes is what we should go for, right?"

Ally closes her eyes and frowned," Why..." is all she mumbled, she franticlly looked around.

The giant squid is still gaining on them

Sophie readies her trusty druid's staff, Gylan agrees with Tirla's words "Indeed we should target the eyes if possible otherwise try to hack at the tentacles. I have something else up my sleeve too, you'll see. Their normal procedure is to wrap themselves around a ship and try to crush it, that they may eat the crew. The paladin chants his battle prayers and both his sword and sheild begin to glow, Sophie is concerned about, his still weakened arm, she hopes she won't have to heal him once more. Despite all the efforts of the crew to increase the speed of the 'Rogue' the giant squid is still gaining on them, it seems it will soon catch them..

Tirla looks to Gylans arm and walks over to him, thrusting her sword down so it would stick in the deck, "I have a spell, its technically for healing, but the way it works might help your arm from getting injured again, almost think of it as a sling that allows for free motion," if he'd allow her too she'd set her hands on his arm, a green glow taking over them before she weaved a web of magic over his arm, the strands barely visible on his arms as they released an energy that would keep his arm strong. Once finished she'd lift her hands and take up her sword, the length of steel igniting in flames. Nixanna twirled her axes about, loosening her muscles for the upcoming fight.

The ends of several tentacles spill over onto the deck

Sophie begins to tremble in fear as the terrible sea creature gets closers and closer, then realises she has a chance to use her magic before it reaches them, she calms her breathing, focusses and sends a fireball at the part of the creature's body which is above water, it seems slightly wounded, but is undetered. Gylan nods to give permission fot Tirla to cast her spell to protect his arm, it is giving him some pain though he will not mention it. His prediction about the squid's course of action is proved accurate. It does indeed wrap itself around 'The Rogue' which groans worryingly. The ends of several tentacles spill over onto the deck, many, both passengers and crew, bravely run to attack them.

Gylan swims into the monster's maw

Gylan grins widely at the approach of the squid, a merry twinkle in his eye at the thought of once again facing the feared creature. He quickly unbuckles his encumbering armor and casts it unceremoniously on the deck. As the squid nears the boat, he hefts his sword and runs full speed toward the starboard side of the Rogue, diving perfectly over the rail and into the cold water below. Sinking down low and in the squid's path, the paladin finally feels the sucking motion of the squid's mouth and smiles wickedly as he is sucked deep into the monster's maw.

Sophie runs for the nearest tentacle, She is desparately worried for Gylan, but can do little to directly help him just now. The healer soon realises, that using her staff as a weapon is a mistake, her blows merely bounce ineffectually off the creature's rubbery skin. She throws her staff to one side and draws her short sword with which she attacks using a repeated stabbing motion.

Gylan If you happen to continue the rp, Gylan would basically cut himself free from the inside of the squid where it's more vulnerable, thus killing it. He's done it before.
