Summary: After the capture of some human girl named Alvina, Cayl visits his prisoner to inform her of a simple change in ownership. Thus starts her employ under Emperor Vuryal.

Abandoned Slave Market

Alvina lies in a heap of flesh, all of her silver gone and replaced by a ragged dress enough to be considered clothing. She's being kept in a large cage, magical binds across her legs, wrists, and even neck which will instantly catch her on fire should they try to be removed. Dark trails line her eyes, likely from dried tears she has been unable to wipe away as she weeps in her sleep. She has only been awake once since her kidnapping, and it looks like someone tried to slip her food. Bits of old blood dot a spilled puddle of milk on the cage floor. Her left wrist is bright red, raw from the binds, as are her ankles and neck. The otherwise flawless bard shakes violently in her slumber.

Cayl wanders, no, he traverses his way through the abandoned slave market, eyes locked on the figure that was Alvina, locked within the confines of a magical cage. Once within close proximity to her, he would then kick the cage, attempting to wake the slumbering girl. "Wake up," He says in a hollow voice, devoid of any emotion.

Alvina jumps awake, body shaking with a fresh volt of fright. Emerald eyes looking up at him like a stranger, unable to part to the haze of sleep just yet. She attempted to speak, but her throat was raw from crying and lack of food and water. Her eyes were longing for some sort of nutrition.

Cayl bends down, making sure there was nothing behind him, before taking a seat next to her cage. "You look like you could use something to eat, and maybe drink?" He says, whilst bringing out a sack full of dried biscuits, and two bottles of warm milk. This measly meal would be enough to fill her, and that was all he cared about. "Have a nice rest, did you?"

Alvina watches Cayl bend down like he's something unreal, not afraid but just as unsure of what he was doing. When he stated she can use some food she nods, trying to prop herself up without triggering the restraints. Shifting herself slowly, finally up and close to the food he gives her, her right arm reaches out to take one of the biscuits to her mouth, nibbling the corners. All her motions and reactions are slow, and she doesn't seem to be using her left arm just yet. Her eyes watched him carefully, trying to silently thank him for the food before taking a soothing swig of the milk.

Cayl continues to watch the woman eat her food, content with what she had been given. The Drow allows the slightest hint of a smile to touch his lips, "You are a slave now, you know?" Although stating the obvious, he was just making sure she understood her new situation, "You have been sold as well. For a lofty fifty-thousand gold, to a man by the name of Vuryal, Emperor Vuryal." These words are spoken with much pleasure, the meeting with Vuryal had indeed been good.

Alvina continues to nibble on the food and wonder what would be done with her if she was indeed a slave now. Her throat starting to feel a bit better, she attempts to speak. "W-why?" she whispers, only able to force that much sound from her frame. Emerald eyes shot wide open when he mentions Vuryal. Biscuit drops from her hands as she looks strangely at Cayl. "N-no..." another whisper of a sound coming from drastically pale lips.

Cayl nods his head, a bit happy to see her shocked expression from hearing the news. "Oh yes, Miss. You are to be his slave, starting tomorrow, until he gifts you your freedom." The Dark One cackles maliciously to himself, before speaking again, "I am sure you will enjoy his... ownership?" Once more, he begins to laugh softly, deriving amusement from his own words.

Alvina shakes her head again, crawling towards the edge of the cage to look at him closer, for a moment she might have thought he was compassionate..."Why?" she asked again, clearer this time. Eyes blazing holes through him, should he meet them.

Cayl holds out his hand, palm facing Alvina. "Stop, and move to the back of the cage, I don't want you too close to me, Human." Even though his words were devoid of any motion, there was almost no way of misinterpreting the threat within his words. "Tomorrow is going to be a big day for you, Alvina..."

Alvina lifts her bad arm and flings it at the cage, the wall shooting hot sparks back at her, not burning but a warning of their own. "And what am I suppose to do?" she cries out, backing away a bit as the sparks dust the floor. "I don't want to be anywhere -near- him! The Empire's the whole reason I left my last employer!" A few biscuits pass through the barrier, landing burned on the other side. Small fireballs, missing Cayl completely. "I didn't even do anything to you..." she huffed, the food and the rest making her feel a little more spirited. Her well mannered nature sank below the anger she was building for this drow.

Cayl makes no move to stop the tantrum Alvina was now throwing, and does not look to be affected by it on any emotional level, "Oh, but you did... You insulted me. Called me a bad teacher, in fact. Your punishment is slavery, to teach you some humility, and respect." Those words are still soft, much akin to that of a whisper. His eyes -burning fiercely in this poorly lit place, remain fixated 'pon her eyes, never to waver.

Alvina huffed loudly, "You attacked me without giving me warning, and me saying that we should start now is pretty much the worst way for you to start attacking me like that! I mean, for gods sake...you could have given me some pointers, shown me some stances...anything other than just thrusting yourself at me!" She turns her face away from him, so enraged that she could barely speak anymore. And then, out of no where, she added loudly and with contempt. "Thank you for the food!"

Cayl shakes his head, showing his disappointment with her, "Relax, relax. It wouldn't do to be like this with your new owner, now would it? Take a deep breath, you will live..." A slight laugh would be easily heard emanating from this Drow, as he thinks about the money he had earned.

Alvina rolls her eyes at him, "I'd prefer to have you compared with him...though I can't imagine what either of you would need with slaves...especially when you know I can't fight!" Wrists twist to and fro, causing the binds to spark again, so she stops and drops them into her lap. The scrap of a dress she'd be changed into was sheer and ripped.

Cayl smiles, though it grows across his lips very slowly, "Well, too bad for you his coin purse is deeper than anyone I know." He takes a moment to watch his captive, as she submits to the chains and shackles, "I doubt you will be used for fighting either, probably more of a maid job, if anything."

Alvina closes her eyes softly, "Outstanding....a maid job...." And then like a depressed teenager, she flops herself down on her stomach, back to Cayl and sighs. "He doesn't need the likes of me...he's going to give me to Jaize.....and she's going to kill me...."

Cayl lifts his gaze up to take in the scenery, while feigning thought, "Yes, yes, that very well could happen." Those crimson eyes, they once more come to fall back down on the form of Alvina, even should she be facing the opposite direction, "But I am your captor, and I don't much care what happens to you, Human. We are -not- friends." With that, he begins to chuckle, though it soon dies out, to leave an echo that vibrates within this large, empty room.

Alvina cocks her head to the side, turning back around to face him with clear and seemingly careless eyes. "That's such a shame..." her emeralds roll again in sarcasm, "I was so hoping that after this was all over we could go to the tavern for a brew and a slice of chocolate pie!" The end of her sentence came out too loud, and caused her to look towards the ground. She wasn't a violent person, she hated acting like this but she didn't feel like she had a choice. Being strong was the only way that she could think to keep from crying...and what kind of poor captured creature would she look like to sob in front of him like that? Crimson waves of hair still fell neatly to her back, a few strands here and there stuck to her face from the milk she'd been snuck the night before that had spilled. Her eyes held him, and she shot him what must have seemed like the most ungrateful look in the world. "I don't understand you, I don't want to. I want to know why."

Cayl takes a deep, calming breath, for her words immediately upset him; why? There was no reason. Only anger. "You are now a slave, because of your own actions. I suggest you get used to the idea, human." His voice was heated, but still remained that... creepy whisper-like quality to it, "Such is the way of life. You win some, you lose some. And you just lost." A single hand lifts up, exposing itself to touch the cold steel bars, rendering the magical enchantments void. At the very instant he does this, the cages door springs open. The very shackles Alvina wear break free from the chains that held her to the cage, albeit the shackles themselves remain 'pon her fleshy wrists. "You may go now, but know this, should you not go to Emperor Vuryal tomorrow, those shackles will kill you. Those shackles will also kill you, should anyone other than Emperor Vuryal attempt to remove them. Those are a mark of slavery; your new life." He finishes, rising to his feet. His hands begin working at his clothes, brushing out each individual wrinkle, as if obsessive compulsive about it.

Alvina 's mouth drops completely open, confusion washing over her face as she looks from the cage doors to the Cayl and back to him. She did not attempt to run, she just sat there, motionless. "What the hell is wrong with you?" She whispered, as if expecting herself to implode any second. "I don't want to die! And if you let me go, and I do die before going to him, he'll come after you! Are you completely insane?" Her eyes shivered with fright and misunderstanding. Was he trying to help her? Or kill her?

Cayl just shrugs his shoulders, a bit disappointed with her lack of enthusiasm of fleeing this place. "As you wish," Just then, he kicks the cage door closed, locking her back within the -rather uncomfortable- confines of her cell. "I simply thought you might want to kiss your loved one for the last time..." With that, he begins to laugh once more, clearly mocking her, "So childish." Is all he says. He stands before her, her captor, her slave driver, with a smile 'pon those sickeningly perfect features of his. He was truly insane.

Alvina 's shoulders sank, Autumn curls melting down her back in such heavy visible disappointment. "What's wrong with you..." she sobs, unable to hold back the tears that started forming, uncontrollably. "I'm not going to die..." the protest came softly, unsure in it's over truth. Eyes closed, the human nudged herself in the far back corner of the cage, legs curled up against her chest, arms wrapped tightly around them. Chin pressed sadly there, deep against her chest to feel the haunt of her heart beating loudly. "You're insane...." More tears, she hated him for what he was doing to her. It just...wasn't fair.

Cayl turns on toe, taking his leave from the depressed girl, "Only enlightened, child, only enlightened." Are his last words, as he continues stalking out of this abandoned place. He would leave her to her sobbing, alone, to wallow in self-pity. His form quickly disappears from sight, as he vacates the premises. A smile still gracing his all-too-perfect features.
