RP:Signing of Basil as Larket's Personal Ally

From HollowWiki

Objective

Meeting held at the Hanging Corpse Tavern with Jacklin and Basil.

Discussion focused on Jacklin's interest in gaining Basil as a personal ally for Larket. The meeting ended with Basil agreeing to the role.

Actual Meeting

Jacklin enters the Tavern with purpose. Never one to trot around the issue, the elder warrior makes a direct path toward the man known as Basil, "I need to talk to you there, Montgomery.

Basil blinks in surprise as he is so directly addressed. "That would be me." He uselessly notes, setting down his drink and taking a few tentative steps in Jacklin's direction, bunny slippers timidly squeaking as he does. "Can I help you, ma'am?"

Jacklin waves a leather-bound hand in a general manner before the bunny-slippered male, “I assumed as much. A description like this isn’t often fit by more than one.” Shifting cobalt sight to the others within the drinking establishment she shrugs, regard falling fully on Basil for the time being, “Business is all I need to say. Your clan is in Larket, yeah?”

Basil glances hesitantly to Lorena, feeling guilty to brush her aside like this, but business is business. He clears his throat and returns his full attentions to Jacklin. "It is indeed. Just off of Rail Street."

Jacklin follows the fellows gaze as it bends in the direction of Lorena. She, too, takes brief inventory of the female before driving back into business, “I’m gathering personal allies currently, for Larket. I believe your organization would prosper from it. Access to my Smithy and medical facility if the need arises. What do you think?”

Basil action : hesitates, his expression drooping a moment before he bites his lower lip. "Not to sound thick, ma'am, but I'm not entirely sure what you're getting at. Is Providence being invited to serve as a special regiment, of sorts, for the city of Larket?"

Jacklin snorts, uncordial for a leader as she eyed Basil with a queerly lofted brow, “A city needs allies. It matters not if they are small, or ineffectual, they are still a body of able citizens. Providence would simply be placed on the list of allies. Should the need arise to aid the city in some way, your guild would be called upon. There are only a handful of members within you group that I care for. Which, in fact, leads me to a new offer.” Pausing the female takes a step forward toward Basil, “Why not just the leader of Providence as our ally. You’re the one I hear is worthy of high praise. You’d be an ally of Larket, as I stated before, and guaranteed aid from the city if need be.”

Basil almost certainly looks as uncertain as he feels. There was something very, very familiar in this woman's manner. Very familiar. "Y-..." He raises a finger, then sets it down, then pauses again, eyes falling to the floor. For a second, he watches the ears of his bunny slippers bounce as he idly wiggles his toes. "Alright." He looks up. "That, I will accept." He offers her a hand to shake. "That, I will accept."

Jacklin immediately thrusts her own hand outward to clasp around his. A brief squeeze and shake seeming the formalize the words of both parties, “I’ll draw up a formal contract for your to sign at a later date. Larket’s courier will bring it to you for a proper signing.” Withdrawing her own hand she claps Basil on the shoulder in a somewhat friendly gesture. Or at least what she assumed was such, “Pleased to have you aboard, Basil. You’re free to use any of Larket’s facilities after the ink has dried on the official contract.” Just as she had entered, the Queen departed. Leaving Basil to consider the newly forged alliance.

Basil is left standing there feeling a bit like he has just sold his soul to the devil. He looks at his still open palm, knowing it had just been shaken by Jacklin. He had never addressed her by name, but there was no need for introductions. What would Parsithius say?
