RP:Signing of Armantium as Larket's Ally

From HollowWiki

Objective

Meeting held at the Cerinii's home with Jacklin and Cerinii.

Discussion focused on Jacklin's interest in gaining Cerinii and Armantium as allies for Larket. The meeting ended with Cerinii agreeing to the alliance.

Actual Meeting

Jacklin peered into the window as if some beggar looking for their next meal. Or, by chance, something shiny to steal from a hapless housekeeper. Seeing nothing of particular interest she instead draws leather-bound knuckles against the doors face. “Anyone in there,” came the haggard tones of one delighted in too much drink.

Cerinii lofted a thin, obsidian brow. Turning towards the door. She approaches the door, before murmuring to the thugs, "Stand ready, eh? I do not expect visitors." She opens the door ever so slightly, "Ja?" She pauses, glancing over Jacklin. "Oh... Queen Jacklin.. Er.. How can I help you?"

Jacklin eyes the hesitating soul wading within the slit of door opened, “Thought I might come by to see you.” Removing the hood from atop her head she tucks it within her person for a more proper appearance, “Nothing to fear. Nobody is with me and I’ll kill ‘em if I didn’t want them near me. Unless you want me to stand out here and speak with you.”

Cerinii shook her head, opening the door completely. "Nein, nein.. Please, come in." She smiles, metallic gesturing into the interior of the house. She pauses, "So.. What brings you to mein house?"

Jacklin steps into the room with cobalt sight immediately falling upon the two thugs. Lips pursed as she examined the two specimens carefully, confidently, and without worry her regard was cast back to the Avian creature, “Thought I’d make a more formal introduction. You seemed to not like a silly human invading your home last trip.”

Cerinii sighed softly, shooing the thugs away. They reluctantly leave the house, closing the door behind them. Cerinii nods, "Ah.. Well.. When mein sister is doing political business, I tend to try und.. step out of her way. I do not like to be seen as spying or anything." She smiles softly, "I hope you understand, it is not about dislike. I don't even know you, actually.." She chuckles softly. "Well, seeing as it is ein formal introduction.. I am pleased to meet you, Queen Jacklin of Larket." With that, she gives a polite bow at the waist, wings flaring out ever so slightly in a reverant display.

Jacklin allows a low, cordial dip of her cranium to follow, “Call me Jack. I was never much for formalities...Cerinii, right? They said you build arms or something such as that.” Briefly eyes wandered the home in search of, well, nothing. She simply wished for something to look at as she spoke, “I am a Queen in title only. I’m not much of one at that.” Sniffing a few times she redirects sight to settle on Cerinii, “I hear you’re some kind of big league up in that Avian place. My guards said you were the Senator. So I had to come meet a fellow politician. Or at least see what a real one looks like.”

Cerinii nodded with some enthusiasm, wiggling her metallic digits. "I make many metal things. Limbs, weapons, armour..." She smiles, shrugging her shoulder. "I am ein Senator of the Avian Republic. It's hardly big league, compared to ein Queen or King, really." She gestures to a chair, "You can sit if you like, Jack." She takes a seat herself, looking to Jacklin. "Please, make yourself at home. Meeting ein fellow politician should not be... awkward or unpleasant, I'd like to think."

Jacklin immediately takes the offered seat. Usually the epitome of slack and uncaring, the elder seemed quite unsettled. Facing Cerinii she nods once more, “I know nothing about Avians. I think of them as birds, but smarter. Smarter, bigger birds. It may seem silly but my thoughts are simple. I do know one thing, if nothing else, that allies are good. Even allies of a race you know nothing about. There are some of your kind I don’t trust in the least bit, and I will not ally with them. But from what several sources say...you are a most reliable creation. Do you understand?”

Cerinii nodded, "I understand, Jack." She grins, "I am the oldest of mein kind, now. I do not have the interest in making enemies. Allies are of greater benefit." She paused, "Well.. Those who you do not trust may not be of the Republic. But if they are, I'd like to know why this distrust is there. Then, it can be resolved."

Jacklin shrugs, “I do not trust Shaelus and I will never ally with that creature. All the gold in Lithrydel would not permit it. It is simply by my own means and history that I do not trust him. It goes back many years.” Fidgeting with the grey wraps on her hands she continues, “Larket is the humans town. I’m sure you’ve wandered in there before, or past it at least. The king was killed a few years ago and I took his place. I’ve been building it back since that time and have allied myself with several factions. Venturil, Vailkrin, Enchantment, Underdark, and your sisters city.”

Cerinii sighed softly, "Ah." She frowns, "Shaelus-Khar is of the Republic." She mumbles, "But not for too long." She looks to Jacklin, "I have been to Larket. I have resided there for ein night or two. You may know Ilska... She has claimed ein part of Larket as her territory." She sighs gloomily at the thought, before looking up to Jacklin once again. "I sought you out for an alliance, Frau Jack." She smiled widely, "If we were to have an alliance, I would help you restore Larket. You would have most of mein technology at your disposal."

Jacklin lofted a curious brow at the sudden change of Cerinii’s features. It appeared that this Ilska person was quite the close friend to the Avian. Yet Jacklin said nothing as the female continued to speak. As her words ended, Jacklin’s began. “My-,” hesitating she shook her head at the phrasing, “That city is a simple one. Rustic some have called it. I do know of a man within my city who would probably benefit from your technology. His name is Luthentius, you may have heard of him. He deals with magics and runs an Academy in the city. I’ve also a Blacksmith, Kain, who would be of interest in your armor skills.” Biting the inside of her cheek she attempted to think of what might be useful to an Avian world. With nothing coming to mind she trudged on with the only thing she had, “Larket has the most powerful army in Hollow. I trained them myself and we can back up the claim. That’s what I can offer.”

Cerinii nodded softly, "The Republic has ein small army, with little training which is.. unfortunate." She sighs softly, scratching her head idly with a metallic digit. "I know fo Luthentius. He was... Somewhat rude to me und mein sister, I found." She smiles faintly, "But Kain, I know not." She looks to Jacklin, "I would ask, that you would help train our army under yours. The Republic will help you with technology, if that is agreeable."

Jacklin for the first time cracks a small, half-smile at her words, “Luthentius is a hard nut to crack if you get my meaning. I’m sure he didn’t intend to be rude, but he is fairly set in his ways. I’ve learned to get along with him after much practice. And, I assure you, I’m not the easiest person to like. Do not take his words harshly. I will speak with him and sort things out. As for Kain, I have only just hired him on as the chief blacksmith. I’m sure if you send him a letter he would be pleased to discuss armors with you. Larket would be pleased to aid your army as well. We’ve excellent captains in both melee, magic, and ranged.” Tilting her head she looked into the eyes of the Senator, “Does this mean a formal alliance?”

Cerinii chuckles softly, "Our army excels at ranged attacks, I would say. Sharp eyes und all that." She smiles to Jacklin, nodding. "I suppose it would, ja." She extends her right, fleshy, hand to Jacklin to shake. Perhaps to, seal the deal. She said little else on the subject of Luthentius...

Jacklin grasps the Avian’s hand with her own. A gentle squeeze along with a shake followed before release. Jacklin rose to her feet, withdrawing a tightly rolled piece of parchment from somewhere within her armor covering, “This is a contract for the alliance. I like to keep records, of course. So a simple signature is needed and I’ll be out of your house.”

Cerinii nodded, "Of course." She smiles softly, "Just ein moment." She quickly moves off into the bedroom for her quill, dipping it into the inkwell and returning to Jacklin's side. She signed the contract with a flourish, marking it with a 'Cerinii-Raan'. She smiles to Jacklin, "There. I am pleased with our alliance, Frau Jack. I hope it will prosper."

Jacklin retrieves the paper with a final nod. The half-grin reappearing upon her lips for a farewell impression before retreating back from where it had come. “Nice to do business with you, Cerinii. I do believe our cities will do well with one another. There is always strength in numbers they say.” Replacing the hood atop her head she opens the door and departs from the home. Pleased to have another hand on her side.
