Council Meeting Room

Kelovath was at the tail end of a council meeting. There were various topics, no doubt, but the paladin wasn't one to sit around and simply listen to a group of old man talk of ideas. He wanted action and to see results. Slowly, almost making a show out of it, the armored man stood from his head seat and lifted a hand to silence the speaking men. "You're all dismissed for today. Another productive meeting, everyone. Thank you." A slight dip of his unarmored head and given to each of the council members. One by one, they all turned and left the paladin to his thoughts. So much going on and these men wanted nothing to do with it. Disheartening, to say the least. A great sigh escaped through his lips and soon after, the man sat back down in his seat. "Give me strength, Arkhen. I'll need it with the stubbornness of them."

Svilfon had been busy of late. Not only is he in the midst of trying to imbue a volatile spell book with stolen energies from his family in Frostmaw, he has also been ensuring old alliances are not broken. Now was perhaps the last the chance Svilfon would get to ensure the chains of his loyalties are strong and will not break - for soon enough such ties will be tested like never before. So with this in mind, he had wanted to visit the paladin now watching over Larket's streets. Though it is not well known outside of Larket, Svil was actually an advisor to Parsithius and Jacklin. He too has sat through many a meeting in this room, so quite easy does he teleport there. As he appears within a cloud of smoke, the deceased wizard hears Kelovath's final words; the plea for strength against the greed of lesser men. And so without even offering a formal greeting, the wizard drops into an empty chair and smiles across at Kelovath. "You should always be wary what you ask for, knight." The wizard flashes a quick wink before tipping his hat. "Svilfon, wizard." He introduces himself without the normal formal air that surrounds such a serious room; perhaps that more than anything is an indication to his comfort within it.

Kelovath was in fact quite startled when the wizard was suddenly in the room. So naturally, the armored man jumps and on instinct, his hand was right on the hilt of his sword. Which was always on his person. Taking note of how casual the man appeared to be, Kelo calmed himself down and removed his hand from his weapon. A slight smirk crept it's way over his lips and keeping silent for a only a moment, he spoke calmly. "And I am Kelovath, as I believe you already know." He chuckled softly and nodded to the wizard. "I'd assume you have some sort of business with me? Business I apparently am unprepared for."

Svilfon didn't really react to Kelovath's own reaction to his entrance beyond a small flickering of amusement hidden within his pale gaze. But it was not mocking, nor was it filled with contempt for the paladin's prowess. It is more a reward for the work he put into mastering teleporting. This was the harvest he really wanted, beyond its more mundane uses, when he begun to learn it. "Aye, I know who you are, Kelovath. There is little of importance that happens within this world that I am not aware of. I do not miss when holy paladins are corrupted, then healed by another paladin who now serves the one who desecrated the first with his poison." The wizard spends a long moment staring at Kelovath, then. "Nor do I miss when Kings and Queens vanish into the night, leaving their city open to be ruled by one who has been tainted by the bug..." The wizard places both his hands flat on the table, then, as he leans forward a touch to stare at Kelovath. When the vampire speaks his voice seems to come from many places at once; like a hundred tones were weaved into one. "Tell me you had nothing to do with my friends vanishing, and then we can talk of this business." The words are layered with magic; nothing to overtly harm Kelovath, though Svil would never admit that to the paladin, instead they will simply detect whether or not the man is lying.

Kelovath simply stared right back at the wizard. Knowing full well that Svilfon was of vampiric nature, there wasn't exactly much trust to begin with. Now, being accused of -this-?! Kelovath was not happy, but wouldn't allow himself to show it. The slight ting of magic was felt in the air, but he would ignore it. Within Larket, he was safe. The paladin was very silent, for quite a long period of time. Even still, there was little thought going on. The man was utterly focused. Until he spoke. "Redovian's choices were his own. He sought power and in the end, could not handle it. I know full well what that man did for me and I'll forever be grateful. As for this 'taint' you speak of...It's still here." He points to himself, to his chest. Or was it his heart? "I carry the taint, but that, was not my choice. I fight it everyday and will do so long after I die." His pulse was quickening, but his voice remained calm. "-My- King and dear friend, Parsithius and -My- Queen and friend Jacklin." He paused there, hoping he was able to express himself simply out of those few words. "This is their city, Svilfon. It always will be. I'll defend it with my life, should it come down it." And there, he stopped.

Svilfon remains almost entirely motionless as Kelovath speaks. This was what he had hoped he would hear, though he keeps his face calm and impassive. Then slowly, very slowly, he nods his head before offering the paladin a tip of his hat. "I believe you. And hope you understand it was because he was my dear friend also that I had to ask. The threads were too neatly woven for me not to enquire." The wizard shrugs. He offers no apology, nor would he. "Now, back to business." In just a moment Svilfon has leaned back in his chair and once again seems like his typical jovial self. He flashes a smile filled with gaps and fangs at the paladin before speaking again, "Our business is not exactly business, Kelovath paladin. More.. a request and offer of payment. I like a certain... freedom in this world. I remain out of Larket because I do not desire war with Luthentius, and that will not change. But yours is a kingdom greater than a single city, Kelovath. I wish to be able to come and go through your realm as a I please. I do little harm, and truly would not let any befall Larket. But I will not enter your realm without your permission. If you give it, you may well find as Parsithius did that having me around is more useful than you can imagine. Allow me the freedom to come and go as I please, guardian of Larket, and you will enjoy the comfort of knowing Svilfon will not let any destroy her." The words aren't really spoken with any arrogance; they are simply spoken as a truth the wizard sees.

Kelovath wasn't offended by the way Svilfon spoke. Nor was he truly that impressed with the man. Although, at the mention of Luthentius, the paladin became very interested in the matter. As well, he found it somewhat odd that he had never met Svilfon before, seeing as they were both good friends of Parsithius. There seemed to be many questions coming into mind, but he honestly didn't wish to sit around and listen to the answers. He was quite impatient, it seemed. "Luthentius, eh? It seems that The Grey, has been absent as well, if you didn't already know. Although, I believe that even if he was still around, he would approve of how things are. He has already acknowledged and accepted my current rank, even though he was technically next in line." The paladin allowed his eyes to scan the room for a moment, almost able to see his Queen and King now. "I accept your request, Svilfon. You are free to roam the lands of Larket and if need be, I would enjoy your advice, should you have any."

Svilfon nods his head. "A matter not of malice between him and I. I am a Magister Templi of the Mage's Guild. He is of the Academy. That is all." That wasn't entirely all, but it was close enough. "I thank you, Paladin of Arkhen." Svil's mouth opens just briefly then, as if he was going to say something, but with a slight shake of his head he changes direction; he figures it's wiser not to point out that if someone is asking permission to enter your realm, he isn't entirely there just to pick daisies. But Svil would protect Larket with his life, so all should be well. "As for advice, Kelovath of Larket, I first must speak to others before I can truly offer any." Though the wizard's mouth stops moving, he flashes a brief single across to Kelovath. It is one the rangers of Larket employ to warn that enemies are close enough to hear. "But rest assured, mighty knight, friend of the King and Queen, that if any comes to mind, you will be the first to know." Svilfon flashes another grin at the man, before the air around his body begins to waver like it was suddenly hot. "If ever you need me, paladin, send word to Frostmaw. Satoshi can reach me no matter where I am." The wizard would pause then for just a moment to hear if Kelovath has a reply, before a tendril of fire wraps around him and tears him from the room, leaving nothing but a small cloud of smoke in his wake.

Kelovath said to Svilfon, "Safe travels, wizard."
