From HollowWiki

This is a Healer's Guild RP.

Part of the Put Up Your Dukes Arc

Summary: Sabrina and Pilar meet by chance after Sabrina's sabbatical. Pilar gives news of Chartsend's dire need of help and Sabrina offers the Healer's Guild's vast resources to keep the clinic open. She also appoints Pilar as the Guild Master of Chartsend.

Mountaineers' Club, Craughmoyle

Pilar hadn't been to Craughmoyle since that trip to Trist'oth through the embassy. She had sent her mount to Frostmaw, as she couldn't afford to care for her for the time being, and so getting to Xalious Village was no longer the simple flight it was. She had to trek through the flat lands, through Venturil, and under the mountains. The clinic needed help. As acting administrator, she'd done what she could to keep it open, but with no supplies, no money, and only three healers (including her), she would have to either find help or shut it down completely, and she wasn't willing to do that. Also, the Mage's Guild still hadn't answered her calls for aid, and with an impending invasion, she needed answers yesterday. She had just arrived in Craughmoyle through the northern tunnel to Venturil, and needed to stop and rest. The mountaineers' club offered chairs, and that was good enough for her.

Sabrina is sitting on a barrel, enjoying a laugh with the strangest of company. Though she does not have much to contribute, this time of storytelling puts a very light mood upon the whole room. She is still clean as ever, but dressed in formal elvish attire that looks like a very feminine version of a man’s tailored suit. Her hair is up, elvish detail in the many fine braids balanced upon her crown and trailing down past her shoulders and beyond. Her eyes are black as pitch, but to those that knew her there might be some inclination that where ever she had gone, she had found a fix for her previous blindness, although, it rendered her eyes forever fixed in that demonic state. It is none too soon that the door cracks open just enough to allow the slight frame of an old friends to slip through. Sabrina’s smile falters a bit, eager to get out of the conversation and snag Pilar before she takes her leave. She scoots from the barrel, landing lightly on heeled feet, with the grace that didn’t so much as stir the surface of her mug of ale. “Greetings.” A simple elvish word, as common as common itself.. yet not. It wasn’t like the Elfess didn’t have her issues with common before, but amongst her people for months one end… well, she hadn’t exercised it in some time. If Pilar were to rest eyes upon the small woman she would find welcoming features contrasting against those Rohk like prisoners of abyss gleaming back at her.

Pilar turned to look at Sabrina upon hearing her voice. She smiled, but jolted when she saw her eyes. “Hi, Sabrina,” she returned, also in Elvish. “It's been so long! Where have you been? You look well.” Apart from the eyes. She'd seen Sabrina's eyes like that before, but never when she was in a good mood. It was a tad unnerving, but she didn't want to bring it up, lest it be a sore spot for her old friend. Pilar did not look as good as Sabrina. She was taking care with her appearance, of course, but her eyes were sad and tired. More so than usual, at least.

Sabrina would nod to Pilar’s observations in time and distance. She didn’t mind the jolt, it wasn’t like the look was entirely unexpected. “And as do you.” Short words were easy words. Even if they didn’t make whole sense. She extends a hand to Pilar, gesturing she should get up and give a small twirl. Unlikely. “What bring you to this place?” The words are smashed together, T’s completely swallowed. Pilar might have to work with her on that at some point. Like riding a bike, right?

Pilar smiled. She knew she looked like crap, but she appreciated Sabrina's words regardless. “Thank you. I'm on my way to Xalious to meet with the Mage's Guild. And, actually... I could use the Healer's Guild's help, too. Chartsend is... not doing well. It's a long story, but the gist of it is, the treasury was robbed, the patron is gone, and the clinic can't stay open any longer without supplies and manpower, but we have no money for either. Is there anything the Guild can do?” Pilar sounded desperate as she spoke, like she was begging Sabrina to say the guild could swoop in and save the day, even if she knew that wasn't realistic.

Sabrina slid into a seat next to Pilar, concerned over the state of things in Charstend. “We must keep the clinic in Chartsend. Why not you’re the patron?” Pilar had proven herself time and time again. It wouldn’t take much to appoint her and give her access to the supplies in the guild headquarters as well as Ara. She slips the guild master key from her wrist and attempts to give it to Pilar should she take it. “There is no Gold there, but supplies are near unlimit.” She’d even suggest “Take a group of graduates with you, delegate.” She pauses with a smile, recalling a time when Pilar took charge at the fort in Larket and performed admirably. It had been awhile since she did rounds, especially this far out west, instead of bringing with her the hound and a cart of goods, she happened to be carrying a ledger instead. It was a small steno sized pad that she placed in her lap. “Ten thousand? 50? You need to get started?” Just like that, the elfess was willing to write a bank note for Pilar to draw on the guild accounts in Cenril. A bit of travel, but well worth it if Pilar would be willing to request the latter.

Just like that, relief washed over Pilar like a gentle wave. “Well, the patron has no real legal power, people just do as he bids because he pays for and owns everything. Guards, the clinic, roads, docks, everything. I don't have the money to be a patron. But I appreciate your confidence in me.” She took the key gratefully. “Thank you, thank you so much. I, I'd hate to ask for too much. Ten thousand should do for now. I'll figure things out.” Pilar looked about to cry from joy. “You're an angel, Sabrina.”

Sabrina began scribbling on the note, really… it was long hand and formal with elegant squiggles… Elves. Her penmanship was bordering artwork but she scrawled it out swiftly and passed the note over. It read double what Pilar asked, because the Elfess knew of the girl’s humble nature. “People will do as you bid, when assert the strength within.” And now she sank back into her pompous nature. Elves did not behave as humans did. Faith was given in wisdom and not based in the monetary system that tied Pilar’s hands. Then, an odd action indeed. Sabrina bent towards Pilar, drew an arm around her, and embraced her. She smelled like sandalwood, and fresh things with a trace of ale on her breath. She felt soft and strong all at once, the structure of her was solid and somehow fragile at the same time. Few could say they had come to these terms with the elfess, and hopefully it would not be something to boast over in the future.

Pilar blinked, unused to this kind of affection from Sabrina. Still, she returned the embrace, smiling. She would make the most of Sabrina's gifts, and hoped she could one day repay the elf's kindness. “I've missed you, my friend. How have you been?”

Sabrina grins back at Pilar, still with that creepy gaze. She points to her eyes. “I’ve been fixed.” Lucky she was pointing or that could mean something different. “Mostly.” She knows what it looks like, and every good thing generally has its downfall. “It’s superficial.” There was some balance in her touch where those who could sense it met with her flesh. A control the Ardent had not possessed until now. Whatever her travels, they did loads of good. “And you, seem to been very busy.” Surely Pilar was cringing on the inside, where Sabrina butchered the language with no mercy. S’s turned to Z’s, T’s missing complete, and so man rolled R’s it sounded like D’s… lets not get started with the B annunciated V’s. For goodness sake, Pilar… tell her to speak more slowly.

Pilar knew she had been pretty bad at Common when she first arrived, so she wasn't going to harp on Sabrina's rusty language skills. “Fixed? Oh, your powers? That's wonderful. I'm happy for you.” The conversation turned to her, and she nodded. “Oh, yes. Very busy. So much has happened, both good and bad. I've been learning more powerful magics, including how to heal wounds. And I'm with the most wonderful woman now...” Her smile spoke volumes of the feeling she had for this woman she mentioned. “I've been trying to count my blessing during these hard times, and she's... she's a big blessing.”

Sabrina was happy to hear Pilar had found something to lean on. The poor girl had it rough for many years, it was warming to know it was all coming together. “So, are you ready to lead then, within the guild? You know, it has been mostly Emilia and myself for long time.” Pilar was always up and down about the guild and her place in it, but the elfess continued to be confident in Pilars ability because she had the drive to do anything that needed done. Sometimes the effort was the missing piece.

“Lead? Me?” Pilar was flattered. And flabbergasted. Flattergasted. “I... I would be honored. I just... I don't know if I have the time to devote myself to it, with the crisis in Chartsend. Perhaps, once the dust settles, we can talk about it more? I'd love to help in any way I could.”

Sabrina laughs at Pilar. "I only ask you watch over the west. Chartsend, yes?" It was already being tended to by Pilar, Sabrina just wanted to make it official. "It might ease burdens if you know the Guild stands behind you. I stand behind you." In the elfesses opinion, Humans should run human things. She had stood by that for many years, especially as a Larketian Resident.

Pilar chuckled with Sabrina. “Heh, that makes sense. Okay, I'll do it. Thank you, Sabrina... Thank you so much for all your help.”

Sabrina hugs Pilar again. This wasn't just for the woman before her, Pilar was doing her a great service as well. "I can not thank you enough." Anything Pilar would need, Sabrina would do her best to provide. She stands. "I must retreive my drink, would you care to join me?" While she didn't pry into people's personal lives, she was hoping to hear more of this woman that Pilar had grown so fond of.
