RP:Reptile Rescue In Rynvale

From HollowWiki

Summary: Hake arrives at Happy Tails in hopes that Lanara has heard rumors about a dinosaur terrorizing the islanders in Rynvale, as he plans to head out there and see for himself. After deliberating, Lana agrees to help Hake in the rescue mission, and the two head to Rynvale. Once there, they discover that it's not any old dino they are saving, but it's Rotmaw! Hake's missing Spinosaurus with halitosis has returned after a thirty year absence! The man and reptile reunite while the witch works her magic on Rotmaw's offspring, aiding him in a peaceful slumber as the islanders stab him to death.

Lanara stands at the welcome desk, inside the sanctuary, bent over Venin’s shoulder and going over what seems to be the work schedule for the upcoming week. The two speak in hushed tones, the caretaker having a little bite in her words, as she’s not too pleased with the fact that Lana has to miss a great deal of work over the coming weeks. “Hey! Planning a wedding is serious business! Plus, you can always call on Talyara if you need an extra hand!” With all the cake tastings, venue visits, and preparations that have to be done in a short matter of time, it’s no wonder that the witch won’t have much free time to devote to her workplace. Still, if there ever is an animal truly in need of her magical touch, she will drop everything to attend to its care. “Okay, so switch him with her… And that should work out nicely!” Tucking her thick chestnut locks behind her tapered ears, she points to several names and time slots, before both women come to an agreement. It’s nearly sunset by the time they are finished working with schedules, ordering inventory, and reviewing volunteer applications, but thankfully they only have to do this once a month. Lana cracks her neck and lazily stretches, hoping that Tiber had dinner prepared, because she hadn’t expected to leave this late in the day. “I’ll lock up, you go ahead, Venin.” The dark skinned woman leaves and the witch heads further into the establishment to check on each of the animals one more time, before she leaves.

It had been some time since Hake was at the animal sanctuary, so when he did show, it had been after he had heard a rumor that a strange beast had been spotted on Rynvale, gobbling up livestock, unless people were around, which then it seemed more interested in eating them. Having some idea that this beast might very well be Rotmaw, he had returned hoping that Venin had received similar news, and may have passed it on to Lanara. He was also of course short of money again, but he arrived just the same in the evening. He rapped on the door.

Lanara is tapping in the codes to the camel enclosure, making sure all the proper enchantments are set to ensure that the temperature and climate are suitable to the animals natural habitat. Once finished, she slips a thin jacket over her form and wanders to the front doors, intent on heading home for the evening. “We’re closed…” She mutters, as someone knocks on the door, before she begrudgingly pulls it open and sees that Hake has come to pay the sanctuary a visit. She’s thankful that it’s not an emergency, but she’s mildly annoyed that he’s come past closing time, because she wants nothing more than to head home to her beloved. “Hey, Nate. What’s up? We’re just closing for the evening, so if this is about one of the career opportunities you will have to come back when we’re open.” She pauses, as Venin had informed her of a beast eating the villagers in Rynvale. Could that be his missing dinosaur companion? “Oh! That reminds me. A contact sent us a missive about a reptilian beast terrorizing residents over in Rynvale. Maybe it’s Rotmaw?” Somehow, she forgets the man's name, but she has zero issue recalling the name of his pet.

Hake, mildly annoyed that she got his name wrong again, took a breath. "I won't take up your time then, and yes I suspected that as well, i am going that way now, Sorry to have bothered you." He said turning around and beginning to walk away with his hands in his pockets. He thought to himself as he walked away, clearly understanding in his mind that she didn't want to speak with him any longer than she had to.

Lanara doesn’t understand why Hake is at the doors to her sanctuary if solely to confirm a rumor about a disastrous dinosaur, only to have a miniature outburst and wander away. Is he a clairvoyant? How could he know that she’s annoyed at having to work beyond the usual business hours?! The witch has little interest in making friends outside of her Pack, so she merely raises an eyebrow and gives a little wave as he puts his hands in his pockets and proceeds to leave. However, she cannot help but feel pity for the dinosaur that has been missing for thirty years, and she knows that the residents in Rynvale are likely to slay the creature if help doesn’t arrive swiftly. Clearing her throat, Lana calls out to Hake’s back, “Hank, wait! Give me ten minutes and we can go round him up. Together. I just need to send a note to my fiance that I’ll be later than expected, and I can gather some things to help us rescue Rotmaw.” She highly doubts that Hake has a plan as pet owners often act on emotion alone, yet Lana always has a trick or two up her sleeve. If the man doesn’t wait for her, she will catch up with him at the docks, otherwise she’ll have to use her enhanced ability of scent to follow his trail.

(Post 1 of 2) Hake's frustration ebbed for a moment, when someone got his name wrong once, it was mistake in his mind, and when they did it again, it could have a been a slip of tongue, but three times... it strongly felt intentional and uncaring, and it hurt. Hake rarely gave his time to such people. It hurt, and it may very well have been the only amount of pride that he had has a dragon, all else he spared others of, but his name. if no one bothered to remember his name, or at least try to, it felt like he was invisible, unimportant, just a face that could be easily ignored and forgotten. It hurt even more, when she remembered the name of his pet, but chose to forget the name of the owner. That's where the invisible weapon that hurt him felt like a white hot tent spike being driven by a hammer into his heart. But she was willing to give him some time, and that was enough. He would murmur loud enough for her to hear, but no louder. "I will wait for you."

(Post 2 of 2) He wasn't unused to those whose nature may have been neutral to chaotic, before Venturil he was practically from an island where the very best people were neutral good and the very worst were chaotic neutral. He never asked, nor did he complain about the paths people had chosen, he had made friends even with those who first instinct is to look out for themselves and no one else, but it did wear on him just a bit, and he longed to have his pet again, cause even though he knew its nature was neutral evil, at least the one person it seemed to show a different side, even still he realized that to reacquire the pet he would have to present it with what it liked the most, and even though the woman was the sanctuary owner, he wasn't prepared to use her, and wouldn't, he could only warn her before they left Kelay, after that, if she chose to turn around, he would not stop her, but he doubted he would return to the sanctuary.

(Post 1 of 2) Lanara gives a curt nod to the man as he murmurs that he will wait, as she closes the door and proceeds to close up the sanctuary. Once all the magical barriers are safely in place, she scribbles a note to Tiber expressing that she will be home much later than anticipated, and she sends it off with one of her messenger owls. The bird flutters out from the rear of the establishment with the tiny scroll wrapped tucked into his talons, in pursuit of the woman's fiance at their home in the southern part of the forest. Next, Lana readies a large duffel bag with some tranquilizing agents, huge chunks of raw meat, and an expensive enchanted device that can be used for tracking the dinosaur, if it comes to that. Lastly, she grabs some strong rope, a few granola bars to munch along the way, and a small bag of gold to pay their fare to the ferryman. The locks and bolts are pressed into place as she steps into the night and offers Hake a flask of water and one of the granola bars, “Ready? I brought along some things that may help us to rescue your pet.”

(Post 2 of 2) The witch doesn’t have the slightest inclination about what’s sorting through Hake’s mind, or even the fact that she has mispronounced his name for the hundredth time, but all the same she can sense his emotions. Something is amiss, and she side eyes him as they make their way from Sage Forest, through Kelay, and approach Cenril. In a few miles they will arrive at the docks that will transport them to Rynvale, and it looks as though it’s going to be a long night. Lanara, in the past, would have chatted nonstop the entire trip as she enjoyed making friends everywhere she went, however the ‘new’ Lana is the exact opposite. She doesn’t trust easily and she holds others at arm's length, until they prove their loyalty, likely over a span of a year or more. Still, the silence is almost deafening, and so she broaches the topic of Rotmaw as it seems neutral enough, “Do you think Rotmaw will recognize you after all this time? Do you have a place where he can stay? How do you think we should proceed once we find him?”

Hake nods, "Yes, lets be off." He would walk with her in mostly silence, until they arrived near the docks where she started asking questions about Rotmaw. "No I don't, in the past Rotmaw barely recognized the difference between me and food, he was simply easier to handle when he was small. But if I know one thing he'll recognize the person who can make his runes activate, that I can be sure of, and since I am the one who put the runes there, he'll know me when it happens." He pause as they waited for the ship. "Currently no, though I hope to soon purchase a place either on the island or Chartsend, to perform my trade and, possibly have a space for him." He soon mount the gangplank. "Look for farms, with animals but no farmers, Rotmaw... I love him but he is a sadistic bastard at times, you can bring him reindeer, cattle, an elephant, or a dinosaur to eat, and do you know what he'll do? He'll chase down the person that brought him the animal and eat them instead. everytime. I think its because he knows humans, and sentients will continue to struggle even after they've been eaten, I think he likes their fighting their fate. I hate to say it, but we will need to obtain live bait, once he's caught, and provided he didn't tear with his teeth the individual we use as bait, I can invoke the rune, and we can get them out, hopefully." Hake would lean against the railing of the boat looking at the sea, as soon as he set his things down. "Such a beautiful world, I wish I had just kept exploring, instead of settling in Venturil like I did."

Lanara presses her side against the railing as the ship sets sail for Rynvale, making eye contact with Hake, as he fills her in on the details about Rotmaw. “So he has an extraordinary prey drive…” It’s not the first animal she’s encountered with such behavioral issues, nor would it be the last, but one of that size could prove difficult. “So, where will you house him until you find a place? I would offer the Sanctuary, but we don’t have that kind of room, and he won’t fit in the stables!” The wind brushes through her long hair and she tucks it behind her tapered ears, “There are some areas in Cenril, long stretches of beach, perhaps he could stay there? As long as he has enough food, hopefully he will behave and stay put until you have everything figured out.” She doesn’t seem too bothered about having to use live bait, either! The tidbit about the dinosaur not being overly fond of people has the witch grinning, “We have something in common… I find it hard to trust others, but I’ve never misplaced my trust in an animal ally.” It’s a hint into her past, but thankfully, Hake is now speaking of his time in Venturil and she offers, “I’ve traveled a lot in my years… I hail from an Elven kingdom, Kelvar, and I’ve lived in various parts of Lithrydel... Frostmaw, Venturil, Cenril, Enchantment, and Sage Forest.” There’s a pause, before Lana’s curiosity gets the best of her, “Where did you travel from, before settling in Venturil?”

Hake shrugged his shoulders his hands still on the railing, but he turns his gaze to her eyes when he responds, briefly before turning back to the sea as he continues to speak. "Extraordinary isn't exactly the word I would use, but I suppose it works, I swear he would get me into so much trouble with the neighbors, it was bad enough when he was eating other peoples pets, I spent almost a decade being tutored to craft the rune I had tattooed on his belly. Because low and behold as he got bigger, neighbors children became his prey, then the adults, whatever struggled more became his favorite meal, eventually I forced him to go out to sea, hoping that in him going off, I wouldn't have so many neighbors trying to knock down the fence of my Vineyard and kill him." He paused, pulling out of pocket a flask which contained a mixed cocktail, which he drank some before offering Lana, some. "It will have to be, in the forest, since I already sleep there, he'll just have to sleep nearby, at least until I can buy a space on a beach somewhere, build a bar, maybe a tiki bar, someplace where beach bodies, and visitors can enjoy mixed cocktails, drinks, maybe even some beach parties. Might as well do a trade that brings joy to ones life, preferably one that encourages socializing." He would sniff the air, as if he were sniffing for a some sense of home. "I was born on Pamestās sala, in my Homeland's tongue, it means, Isle of The Forsaken. Its a modestly big island, prolly about a third to a half the size of Rynvale island, Volcanic, lots of marshes, rainforest, jungle, and some nice green fertile plains here and there, several rivers. Only one really large settlement, Harken's port, in the past it was the safest means to leave and enter the island without wrecking a ship, lots of sharp rocks surrounding the island, Almost all the population comes shipwrecks, almost five females to every male on the island, a few curses on the island, too. Probably the largest Draconian population of any land I am aware of. At least 35% of the population, 25% half elf, and the rest purebred." He stopped talking, for a moment, "I love my homeland, i could talk about it all the time, but unless you want to know more details, I rather not talk your ears off." He said with a small smile.

Lanara isn’t too put off by the natural instincts of Rotmaw, but she wonders if what Hake says is true. Could the beast truly be as sadistic as he sounds? “It’s almost as though humans hurt him in his youth… Perhaps he behaves so volatile because he suffered some sort of abuse? Or is he merely wicked and thinks it’s a sport, eating people, I mean?” The comment about Hake wanting to purchase a span of the beach and create an area for partiers to socialize does give the woman a look of mild horror. Wouldn’t that serve Rotmaw’s purpose for dining on humans more so than Hake’s want to be a business owner?! It would be a bloodbath, but thankfully the conversation takes a more pleasant turn and the witch smiles as the man fondly recalls his years in Pamestas Sala. “Purebred?” If some were draconian and some were elves, she attempts to use deductive reasoning, “Are you referring to race of Dragon’s?” With her interest piqued, the witch spends the rest of their boatride enthralled by learning of Hake’s homeland, and she envisions the territory in her mind, “It sounds beautiful!” Similar to Rynvale, in a sense, but one thing does strike her as odd, “Why is it called the Isle of the Forsaken?” Lana may have been in a hurry to get this animal rescue over with earlier, but she’s slowly warming up to Hake and he’s lured her into his world with tales from the past. The boat pulls into shore and the anchor is tossed over the side, as the shiphands encourage those aboard to depart the vessel, and the pair step safely onto the docks. Lana glances around a bit to catch her bearings, and she points, “I know the stables and some country land is to the west, but the big farms are way up towards the northern area.” She waits for Hake to decide, before they make their way in search of Rotmaw.

(Post 1 of 4) Hake shrugged, "Considering his egg washed up on the shore, I would surmise that some merchant ship killed his mother or stole his egg away.... the other possibility is that, I wasn't the smartest, and dyed the egg green, course that caused him to be green too, funny how that happened." He laughs quietly, " If I had to take an honest guess. I used to give him a lot of belly rubs when he was small, it's possible something he ate once, gave him a belly rub on the reverse side, I think he's just trying to get that feeling back, I guess you could say I gave to many, because every time I did, he would become still, close his eyes and purr like a kitten, when I became busier he became more active in pursuit, I suppose." He paused thinking on her words. "I will prolly let him follow a friend around, perhaps he'll come in use for her, and I'll be able to do my job, and meet with him when I close shop." He took a minute to sniff the air again, hoping to catch the impossibility of the red salt smell that was of his homeland.

(Post 2 of 4) ) "Elves, Drow, Humans, Orcs, Naga, almost every being is the descendants of slaves who washed up on the beaches, and then there are the dragons, craziest story ever, roughly 10,000 years ago, a merchant ship was requested to bring 2 of every dragon breed in the form of eggs to some wealthy king, the ship crashed against our island, and was shredded on its shores, but the eggs, they survived, all the dragon breeds hatched together, and since none of them were taught the behaviors of their race, they grew up together until they began to behave more like dragons, establishing territory on the island, breaking it up into several regions, those that happened upon the shores, risked becoming their meals, that is until one of the dragons, learned they could do more than just eat there food, sorry for the mental image. Anyway, thus draconians started to fill the population, being the one thing the dragons wouldn't eat. These draconians would try to shield other newcomers to the island, but it was difficult the Dragons would come into settlement and have there way be it food or else, but then a silver dragon and gold dragon, had a child together, and it gave birth to the First Electrum Dragon, A Dragon by the name of Harkon, who was raised by an elf and a human. Harkon eventually spoke to the dragons, in their own tongue, and explained that dragons needed to change, they needed to give some of these survivors a chance. It took a while, but in time the Dragons grew to respect him, and eventually acknowledge the main settlement as Harkon's territory, which became a safe haven for the survivors, and in longer time, other dragons began to open their regions, not all did, some remained dangerous, but for the most part five small villages emerged, one was my own, Wiersford." He paused knowing he had done what he just tried to not do, monologue his homeland history. But she asked why the name so he responded.

(Post 3 of 4) "The name originates from the fact that no one could leave the island, even flying is hazardous." He explained as he walked with her as the anchor was dropped, "The sharp rocks around the island are like vicious teeth rising up from the ocean, some kilometers in height, while others are as small as a few meters, any ship sailing out of the it, has to have best up to date maps, as the tides caused thousands of whirlpools between the teeth, storms frequent the exterior side of the island, it's as if the island existed in the center of hurricane, and woe to many being that steps out of the eye, and into the eye wall, at least this was true, until about ten years ago." He paused as he got on the gangplank to walk down it, "Ten years ago another nation set to make our home as a Principality of their larger nation, in the past many foreign princes had ruled our island, we thought this one would be no different, but his mages, found a way to shatter the teeth that led to Harkon's port, giving a safe passage at long last to enter and leave the island. Many recents survivors left the island, and many more adventures did too, but many stayed, our island was home, and even though it was dangerous, it was still home, with my adoptive parents dead and buried, and shortage of liquor consumers now that the island could import, I sailed a ship towards Chartsend and arrived in Venturil not long after."

(Post 4 of 4) Hake looked at Lanara, knowing he prolly just talked her ear off, but he would try to move on if all possible if that was the case. "Yes, It is a beautiful place, but I wouldn't want to go back alone." He murmured, as he walked onto the docks with her. "Which has more people?" Hake said aloud thinking, "You need someone to fetch the hay and clean the stables, maybe a vet, and a farmer for the horses, but a big farm needs people to tend the field, maitanance the tools, pump water, and cover much acreage, Rotmaw will go to where people are abundant and there are places for him to hide... and then devour. At least for the most part, we'll prolly save lives if I can activate his rune, so long as he didn't tear anyone when he consumed them." He said looking around. "I have no idea where I am going, please lead on."

(Post 1 of 2) Lanara had heard many long tales over the years from various newcomers about their native homelands, and she is always captivated to learn about new places both near and far. She enjoys the storytelling and she doesn’t interject at any point, so that Hake has the entire floor and can offer up as much information that he wishes. Lana’s eyes widen at some points, her brows furrow at others, but nevertheless, the intrigue never exits her fathomless brown eyes. As Hake concludes his story, she offers a small smile, “I can understand never wanting to leave your homeland, as it’s all you know, and there are so many wonderful memories there… But, if one doesn’t spread their wings, they won’t know -which- place they want to call their forever home. Just because we are born someplace and live in a house with relatives? I think not… I think home is where your heart is most content, similar to how you feel when around those you love. Content. Safe. Home.” Lanara thinks back to the many times she’s visited Rynvale and she tries to think of an area that has lots of activity, because Rotmaw seems to prey on populated places for food. “Hm. The Rynvale City Stables house a lot of steeds and have a worker or two, that would have been my first guess? But… If he prefers ‘people’ over animals…? Follow me!”

(Post 2 of 2) Lana leads Hake a few miles northwest, turning down dark alleyways and dodges a few carriages that pass by, but she walks with purpose and it seems that she has an idea where Rotmaw may be at this hour. As they continue onwards, the witch is forced to push her way through a bustling crowd, as they had entered the shopping district. A pet shop, blacksmith, general store, and various other shops are all stationed in this plaza, and at first it seems that nothing is amiss. However, the closer they near to the Kraken Fountain, the harder Lana’s heart beats in her chest, as she sees blood spatter on the cobblestones and several beheaded bodies strewn about the area. A child hugs his mothers leg, sobbing and mumbling incoherently, completely unaware of the fact that the leg is all that remains of his mother. Screams fill the air as all of the shoppers flee towards the way they had come, stumbling over their own two feet as hysteria sets in. Lana pauses at the fountain and takes in the sight of the wreckage, when she hears a crunching sound just beyond the row of trees, before the entrance to Fog Forest. She points and motions for Hake to go take a peek, her intuition prickling the back of her neck as she whispers, “Rotmaw is there…”

(Post 1 of 3) Hake rewinds the clock as he processes what Lanara was telling him, and the fact she maintained an interest for as long as she did, he realized that he may have misjudged her. "He did like people a lot back on the island." He said as he walked with her for the few miles, although as they neared the fountain, Hake started looking about as he began to see flashbacks to stuff that Rotmaw had done on the island, although something did feel mildly amiss, the woman's leg and the child, he remembered that Rotmaw despite being a maneater had always tried consuming all the members in a family at least back when he had been eating pets on the island, size really kept him from being a clean eater of people and Hake knew to well that Rotmaw disliked the taste of blood, although he never could figure out why, but he did recall that as an electrum dragon, he too had a great many things that never made sense about himself, either. With Lanara whispering she could sense that Rotmaw was near he nodded, whispering in reply. As he looked around, spying numerous pools of saliva here and there, separate seemingly from the carnage, "And I don't think he is alone."

(Post 2 of 3) Moving forward and turning towards the trees and getting close behind them, he turned his head to take a peek. Low and behold what he spotted was a brown spinosaurus, about 20ft long and 10ft tall, its mouth crunching down on a still screaming woman, with its foot on her pelvis and trying to tear her top half free to eat. Hake shook his head at the sight, "Dammit, that's not him." But as he said these words he realized that the trees within the fog began to break down, powerful stomps coming forward as a larger than life Spinosaurus appeared towering over the small one. Green across almost all of its body its unbelly only lighter shade of green, and brown, it eyes yellow and terrifying like a wolf. Its jaws opened and Hake saw its throat wretch and soon two more people fell out of its mouth still breathing and dazed, The little one seemed to deterred from the mostly torn woman, and began to move up towards the big green one's dropped meal. Hakes eyes followed the throat of the beast towards its belly where he could see movement, possibly of other consumed prey, and then his eyes narrowed as he could see bright cyan runes running along the seam of his underbelly and his body, several faded scars across it as well, small in comparison to the body. "Oh this is not good," Hake moaned. "I should have suspected this, but did I listen to my inner voice, no, no I didn't."

(Post 3 of 3) Slinking back to where Lanara was as he approached her. "We have.... a problem, you were right, it is Rotmaw, but he has a.... I am gonna take a guess at Spinosaurus age and size, a toddler with him, very likely his toddler. And the poor kid back there, I think that was the toddler's doing, the saliva pools where people disappeared, and now are being fed to the toddler the way a bird feeds its young... just more sickening." He paused. "Even if I worked the rune, now those possibly alive people would still be up against the toddler, and if we eliminate the toddler, well....I'm gonna take a strong bet that Rotmaw isn't the forgiving type. At least not anymore."

(Post 1 of 2) Lanara squints as Hake states that he doesn’t believe that Rotmaw is alone, and she wonders exactly what he means. Is he gnawing on more bodies? Is there another animal with him? Perhaps a new handler had taken Hake’s place? Nothing will prepare the witch for what she’s about to hear, so she waits on bated breath for the man to take a gander at what’s happening behind the trees, impatiently clenching her hands into fists. The man returns and he looks as though he’s seen a ghost, so Lana’s eyes widen slightly in concern, “Is Rotmaw alright? What did you see?” Hake explains that indeed he saw his beloved Rotmaw… But, he also saw what seems to be another spinosaurus, likely the offspring of the dinosaur! She’s at a loss for words and that’s not easy to do, as the witty witch often has -something- to say, so she merely blows some air out of her mouth and shakes her head. “This really took a surprising turn…” Eventually, she states that single, unhelpful line, before she stealthily sneaks over to the trees and takes a peek at the two dinosaurs.

(Post 2 of 2) Lanara retreats to where Hake has been standing and she can feel the unease that the man must be feeling, because she knows what will happen if they don’t handle this correctly. “Look… They killed at least a dozen people and will do far worse if we don’t intervene. Plus, I’m betting someone will be sent here to kill Rotmaw in some sort of heroic gesture and I know you don’t want to lose your pet! What if I try to work my magic from the sidelines, but near enough to the baby spinosaurus, that I won’t be seen as a threat? I can try to put him under a gentle sleep spell. And maybe you can work the runes?” She pauses, “Hank… Exactly what do those runes do? Is it some sort of mind control you have over Rotmaw? Do you think this will work?” Lana isn’t all that familiar with dinosaurs, but her deceased brother was a dragon, and she assumed that all lizard folk were friendly! Until today. Her eyes don’t lie, and they have seen the wreckage of many good citizens ripped to shreds, by a dynamic dinosaur duo. “We need to act fast.”

(Post 1 of 2) Hake nods his head with that solemn nod, a slight glance around to still see the carnage surrounding them. "Yes, very surprising." he said as he scratched the back of his head, moving his jaw forward and back in his mouth, a possible habit of thinking. This was a pickle, in the past when Rotmaw had been, smaller, the most amount of people affected was considerably smaller, and when he had been successful in removing people that Rotmaw ate, there had been a 90% success rate of victim surviving the incident, although with some acid burns and hell lot of psychological trauma. The reasons for their survival had fallen mostly under his skills as a surgeon, albeit his only experience had been on Rotmaw, and added to this success had been Rotmaw's peculiarity of hating the taste of blood, for whatever reason, Rotmaw was infamous for eating people whole and very much alive.

(Post 2 of 2) Hake nodded, thinking through what Lanara was saying, "It's only a matter of time, you focus on the baby, and I'll focus on the Rotmaw, But before settle on that plan, here is the back up, see if you can lure the child to some crime ridden spot, if it dies the only people that will suffer for killing the child will be criminals, as for me, the plan is activate the runes. The runes, were something of my own invention and almost a decade to learn how to do, I probably will never be able to replicate what I did, again." He paused trying to see if she was still tracking with his thought process. "The runes were designed to eliminate the need to do surgeries on Rotmaw to extract victims he has consumed, basically it renders the flesh inside of his stomach muscles and flesh intangible for a brief few seconds until the contents have all fallen through. Its a dumping feature so to speak, as wrong as that sounds, but my hope is, since I am the only with knowledge on how to activate that, I am taking the risk that he'll recognize me by that, once that happens, well... I suspect the reaction will be much like a dog finding its long lost master, although, much more violent, and dangerous, I will probably get thrown a bit, which will probably lead him away from the population center." He paused. "Does this seem like a good plan and back up? As for the child, if you can subdue him, do it, if you can't guide him to a criminal hostile part of town, if anything, if worst comes to worse, then Rotmaw will prolly tear apart those that killed his offspring, but why not direct the blame to fall on those whose absence would bring the island some peace, even if it didn't last. If that doesn't work, I will leave the details to you, to figure out a plan, i have sense your good with plans on the fly."

Lanara is practically royalty when it comes to thinking on the fly and engaging in spontaneous acts, so it’s no surprise that the ‘queen’ of jumping in blindly completely agrees with everything that Hake is saying. They even have a Plan B! What could possibly go wrong, right?! The witch nods her head, eager to rescue both dinosaurs if possible, but prepared to sacrifice the baby if necessary. The key is to complete their task swiftly and get the hell out of Rynvale, before an angry mob descends on them and tries to slaughter Rotmaw and Rotmaw Junior. Or worse, think Hake and Lanara are in cahoots with the reptiles! “Okay. That rune surgery sounds disgusting, to be frank, but I get why you did it back then. Let’s just hope it helps us now…” Dark eyes assess their surroundings and for the moment it’s mostly quiet, save for the crunching of bones coming from the toddler dino. At least Rotmaw swallows his victims whole, so there isn’t more than a subdued scream as they travel down his gullet. “Okay. You lead the way… I will circle halfway around so that I’m not in the direct line of Rotmaw, but closer to the baby.” She pauses, “If Rotmaw -does- attack you, should I try to disable him, or do you think that will further rile him up?”

(Post 1 of 2) Hake shrugged, "As disgusting as it was, the more who lived by getting them out, the better." He said as he continues to scan listening to her, "If Rotmaw attacks me, focus on the child, don't come and help, I can handle Rotmaw, mostly. It was easier when he was smaller, I would rather have to deal with a riled up baby than a riled up Rotmaw." he said before nodding to her and scurrying over to a fence line, and then scampering over to the trees looking behind to see the baby about to engorge itself on yet another helpless woman, while Rotmaw seemed to be walking some distance looking for something. "You know what to do."

(Post 2 of 2) Turning from Lanara he darted past the trees heading for Rotmaw's legs. Once he was under him, stood under his wriggling belly, putting his hand up to the runes he utter the activation enchantment, "Dimmitus Contenta" The cyan runes glowed under the utterance and Rotmaw seemed to react to it as suddenly, bodies most of them living few dead fell from the belly as if the flesh were a ghost, the corpses acting as cushions for some, while the ground was the cushion for others. Rotmaw strode back a few steps its eyes burning with fire, as it looked down at Hake, It snout pushing Hake back as it moved forward, As Hake continued to step back, eventually up against a tree, while Rotmaw pushed him up against it, sniffing Hake with deep inhales and snorts. Hake stood his ground, "That's it, keep sniffing, surely you remember." Hake said when suddenly Rotmaw's jaws opened and snapped at him catching him by his pants and tossing him high into the air, Hake realized what was about to happen, and tried flailing his arms about to try to move himself as Rotmaw opened his mouth and throat to accept him, but suddenly Rotmaw moved his head a bit, Hake found himself sliding down his head and past the sail and soon up his body and tail like a slide only to be grabbed again by Rotmaw's jaws and thrown again this time closer to the port, as Rotmaw seemed to be running after him. The water saved him, "Rotmaw this hardly the time and place, I am not even in the proper form for this kind of rough...!" Only to be cut off as Rotmaw grabbed him with his foot pinning him down, moving his head intimidatingly close, as if he were going to tear him in half, "Buddy, this neither time, nor the place, and you need to get out of here before a mob rains hell down upon us..."

(Post 1 of 2) Lanara isn’t quite sure she knows what to do because she’s never been in a situation such as this, dealing with a duo of man-eating dinosaurs, in the busy section of Rynvale, with a stranger whose name she cannot pronounce. “Um. Right.” She can surely wing it! As Hake jumps the fence and stealthily moves amongst the trees to advance on Rotmaw, the witch circles halfway around the area and hides behind a boulder. The baby dinosaur has his maw open, his tail twitches violently, and he looks as though he’s about to dine on another female victim. Lana focuses all of her attention on the dinosaur and whispers a spell in Sylvan, before she exudes her power into the form of the dinosaur. Those big eyes half close as it drops its victim and drowsily takes a few uncertain steps, as though confused as to how it went from a murderous rampage to nap time. Nonetheless, he stumbles onto his side and lands against the ground with a thunderous boom, before his eyes completely close and he seems to doze in the center of mayhem. The woman flees the scene, screaming at the top of her lungs, and likely heads to the nearest guards outpost for assistance.

(Post 2 of 2) With the baby dinosaur subdued, Lana remains behind the large boulder, still trying to hide out so she doesn’t screw up Hake’s side of things. He assured her that he could deal with Rotmaw, and at first, it seems that he is doing beautifully. The runes are activated, dozens of bodies fall out of the reptile's stomach, and it looks as though some of the victims are still alive and well. Albeit shaken up from being swallowed whole by a dinosaur with halitosis! However, things seem to take a chaotic turn as Rotmaw lifts Hake into the air and throws him, nearly tearing the males pants from his frame with a gnash of his razor sharp teeth! Lana sharply inhales, praying that it won’t come down to her to calm down -both- dinosaurs -and- rescue the man, because that’s a feat that most cannot deal with on their own! Rotmaw then hurls Hake again, this time into the water, and it seems that the two are having some sort of disagreement as the man begins to talk. Hopefully he can reason with his long lost companion! Lanara doesn’t intervene or give Rotmaw any hints to her location, but she divides her attention between keeping the small dinosaur asleep and watching the scene unfold between man and dinosaur.

Hake struggled under the foot of Rotmaw, granted he knew he was pinned down and not being crushed, otherwise, he would have been, No Rotmaw was pinning him down because, he wanted to see his owner, not this human appearance, strangely enough Rotmaw wasn't the only one who liked him more in his anthro form, His could he really say it? His girlfriend had made it clear that she prefers him to not be in human form, and Rotmaw who had from hatchling to escape, had only known that form and face, well he was certainly in a pickle. As for the gathering mob, which was coming he could see them already starting to head towards the baby, but if Hake was ever to come back to Rynvale he would need a form that was not known, and on top of this he needed to get Rotmaw out of there. With great reluctance as he could hear the shrieks of women, and mad scramble of men and guards approaching the child knowing Rotmaw was going to look up and come to the infants defense, Hake reluctantly allowed his form to morph, expand and swell, as Rotmaw soon had a Electrum scaled anthropomorphic dragon, almost 14ft tall pinned under its foot. Hake emerald eyes looking dead center with the fiery eyes of Rotmaw. "Rotty, we need to leave." No sooner had he said these words that the great big spinosaur's tongue gave him a lick a nuzzle. Lifting its foot off of him and picking him up setting him on the base of his neck, The spinosaurus began to walk into the water, Hake would motion to Lanara to hurry up and jump on they were leaving now, as the spinosaurus could swim. As this was happening the mob would reach the baby and begin stabbing it with spears, Lanara's act of putting it to sleep, letting its death be without pain, unlike its many victims. Hake would lean back against the Sail once Lanara got on, "I am sorry, hopefully, your act of putting it to sleep won't keep you from being welcome here. You were amazing."

Lanara surely thought that her big brown eyes were deceiving her, as Hake’s face contorts and he shifts into a dragon with silver and gold scales. She blinks several times, taking this knowledge in, and she barely has time to react, as a mob of angry islanders are advancing on their location. Rotmaw, thankfully, seems to calm down and allow Hake back into his good graces, and Lanara hesitantly comes once the male beckons her closer. A heads up would have been preferred, mainly because there is shock written plain as day on her fair face, but it’s not like she had been forthcoming to the man, either. Lanara Banks is a wolf beneath the guise of a Kelvarian Elf. The squelching sound of spears stabbing into the hide of the baby dinosaur is sickening to Lana, the animal empath that she is, and so she swiftly climbs onto the back of Rotmaw. If the creature acts up she will be forced to subdue it with her powers, but he seems content with taking a leisurely swim back to Cenril. After a few uncertain moments, Lana relaxes, and cants her head to glance at Hake, “Thanks… All in a day's work, right?” Her smile is a little strained, because she had been hopeful that both dinosaurs could be saved, but one is better than none. “I’m glad that you and Rotmaw are back together… That was some show!” About an hour later than arrive somewhere on the coast of Cenril and Lana rises so that she may depart, and she offers some parting words to Hake, “Be safe… Both of you. Keep Rotmaw out of trouble… Also... I think we forgot one important detail!” She pauses, until she slides off of the spinosaurus and finds her footing on the sand, “We found Rotmaw… We found his offspring… But… What about his mate?! She has to be somewhere, too! We need to keep an eye and ear out for any news that may come our way.” Dramatic point made, she offers a parting wave and heads back to Sage Forest, so that she can tell Tiber about her impromptu adventure.

Hake leaned back against Rotmaw's sail, his form slowly morphing and shifting returning to the human form he had formerly had. It should have been a secret, he didn't like his form, not because he had electrum scales, but because he often felt being a dragon, took away something that a person had, with his clothes stretched out or torn, from the event, he was trying to come to terms with decision he had made about letting the child die, but he knew that, if one had to die, it would prolly have been the one that caused the most scarring grief, with the death of little carnivore, more than enough of Rynvale would feel they were given justice, surely. "Hardly," He said at first, "It feels pleasant to have the emotional support back, even if... I was forced to relieve some unhappy memories on the island." He said slapping Rotmaw's neck, to which he growled low, in the 'whatever master,' growl. An hour later at night Hake had rotmaw swim close to the shore to drop her off. "Yeah, I am going to start keeping him out of trouble, by going north down this coast until I can find a shore without some urban activity." He listens when she drops to the sand, Rotmaw gaze catching her, a flicking out of its mouth. Only for hake to push his foot down on his snout, to close his mouth so he doesn't lick the Lanara. "His mate?" He made a small gaze at Rotmaw, "That's difficult to imagine, not impossible, just difficult, yeah, I'll keep an ear out if you do, in the meantime, I will find a place for Rotty," He waved and watched her go. Returning to Rotmaw, he directed him to north coast, hoping to find a place to pull him ashore, that wasn't populated. "I swear your gonna have to learn to eat dried meat, at least until Foax can meet you, I am sure she'll have a use for you."
