RP:Report Made, Merchants Plan to Depart

Part of the Reopening the Bazaar Arc

This is a Merchant's Guild RP.

Rhocielle quietly rapped his furred knuckles upon the door that would lead into the room where Aranhil and Aldred already awaited him for his report of Rynvale's northern regions. Several scrolls were held in his free paw like hand. Brows were furrowed slightly in thought as he reclined against the doorway in anticipation. Already, the wolfen warder was rehearsing his pitch to the others. The best route to the Bazaar from the port city remained an upward path to the plateau, he repeated silently to himself. Canine ears would flick towards any noise behind the door, alerting him to someone that would grant him access into the room.

Aldred lets his heavy hooves fall unto the ground as he proceeds to the door. As the large barrier opens his eyes fall upon the lycan, "Ah, you must be Rhocielle. We have been waiting for your arrival. What news do you bring us of the path to the bazaar?" wit this said the centaur steps back allowing a path for the lycan to enter to be cleared and awaits the word.

Aranhil stood as the other entered the room. It was the lycan they had been waiting on after all. After a small bow and a nod he would greet the being and offer him a chair at the merchants guild entrance which was open to the public. "So what have you found exactly, what is there that blocks our path?" he would ask after Aldred would speak.

Rhocielle nodded to both men upon entering, gaze roaming the interior before making his way to a provided chair. "You have two paths open to you..., as I had told Aranhil. Both eventually lead upward to the plateau." As he spoke, one crudely drawn map was unfurled to act as a visual aid. "The Dragonlands are composed the central plateau just north of the city, and the barren wasteland west of that... Just crossing the bridge and keeping to the stream leads to path up the plateau, but it is blocked by a stone wall... Not that thick, mind you, but enough to hinder a cart from progressing. A team of workers should be able to demolish it within a day," he remarked as a clawed digit tapped on a wall drawn upon the scroll, "And then progress atop the plateau until reaching the remains of the castle, and the bazaar..." His tongue clicked softly as an audible punctuation. "That is the first choice, and the one I recommend. The second is faster, as there is no wall preventing the road from being constructed... but.. there are dragons. If your crews are to build a road along the flat lowlands, they will be vulnerable to any hunting wild dragons. There is no cover there. You will need guards to protect the crews, as well as any caravans that would eventually travel. Crossing the wasteland, your crews will still have to build a road up an low incline up the north western corner of the plateau... Hrmph, both choices you would need to deal with any passing dragons, but the lowlands is more dangerous. Building the majority of the road on the plateau, as would be my recommendation, your caravans would have the advantage of height and distance to see the dragons approaching from the west..."

Aldred provides nothing but a slight nod, lightly stroking his chin before speaking, "I see. Well I would be able to provide a group of centaur's to guard as the road is built as well as for the initial supplying of the bazaar. But afterwards it would be a different story as i could not have them away from our territory for to long. So the choice is still open to be made." Seconds go by and the centaur directs his attention to Aranhil, "What do you think about the matter?"

Aranhil thought for several moments before he would speak. "Either choice is risky and both deal with dragons. However, I prefer the course where dragons are less of a threat and may be easily seen. I may be able to supply a group of Orc as I have some connections with one of the higher Orcs in Gualon. A small sum of gold would suffice to get him and his race to help us. They are good workers, and fierce in battle. However they may not prove to be much next to that of a dragon." A few moments would pass where he would look downward in thought, then once looking upward again he would speak. "I can bring a few others for protection. I have at my disposal an Elven Herbomancer, a pixie, and a Feline that is versed well in combat and healing. And as with Aldred's Guards they must all return once the mission is complete. I believe we should take Rhocielle's advice and head in as he directed. Its more work, but may cost us less lives in the long run. What do either of you think? Please keep in mind that we haven’t any idea how to keep the dragons at bay should we finish the road and leave. I would rather not supply the dragons with daily meals."

Rhocielle nodded slowly and traced his claw around the outer edge of the plateau, "Orcs and Centaur guards would be enough to handle any dragons, especially in the phase of demolishing the wall, but you both raise a point. It would not be wise to have constant escort for the caravans..., especially without any real cover for them. But, I have something to help with this. We are considering the emplacement of several defensive towers along the ring of the plateau to protect the island... Their height would give greater advantage against incoming dragons. They would be well garrisoned with soldiers and their presence would grant the caravans a constant protection as well." Careful observation on the map would show several markers where these structures would be placed. If the scale of the map was to be assumed accurate, each tower was likewise protected by its flanking twins. When all would be erected, not one area of the plateau would be left unguarded. The height of the towers would also prove just as effective in shielding the rest of the surrounding area as well. "The Fold will be providing the labor and funding to construct them, but surely we would appreciate any help from the Merchant Guild, especially if they are to be built within the time frame of the road's construction. The sooner the towers are built, the sooner your workers will no longer have to fear the nearby dragon broods..."

Aldred once more strokes the fuzz on his chin in thought. Arms fall across his chest and a single digit taps in thought, "Well perhaps the extra work is well worth it. But i remain in my standings that the choice would be best made by Rhocielle as he has been through the area recently." swirling pits fall in view of the map and study it carefully as to not look over a single detail, "These towers seem to be a good idea and if they were to go up then we should be able to build the road through the dragon lands and still be able to have guard upon its completion. What thoughts might you have?"

Aranhil nodded in agreement with Aldred, "Yes, we would be foolish not to take the information we have collected from the scout I selected seriously. So then is it decided on the course we shall take?" He looked to each of them for a few moments, although Rhocielle's task in this was complete, he was now a link the fold and the towers that were to be built there.

Rhocielle glanced from one male to the other, his own granite eyes pensive. "I will begin speaking with Arien and the others as to what materials we may purchase from the Merchant Guild for the towers. Unless the towers are built before the road, it would be best to continue on the plan to build the road atop the plateau to get to the Bazaar. In that way, our own Fold militia guarding the tower workers can also provide protection for the road workers as they progress." He dipped his rune inscribed muzzle to both men, "If this will be all, I shall leave you two to your continuing business. I may be reached by courier if you have need of me or with to forward any concerns to Arien." Leaving a copy of his crude map with the essential details marked upon the parchment, the black furred male took his leave of the room once the others bid their farewells to him.

Aldred provides only a slight nod to the lycan as he makes his entrance and then brings his attention back to Aranhil,"with this information what do you wish to do? Shall we go the more dangerous route and deal with the dragons with the help of my warriors and the fold or should we take the longer but safer route? The choice is still to be made."

Aranhil waited for his clan mate to exit before answering, “We go as Rhocielle instructed. Directly north. However once we reach the dragon lands we should build the road along its outer east perimeter through the plateus and curve back to the northern dragon lands and continue along the northern rim to the Bazaar. That will avoid most of the dragons in the area. I say we start making preparations to do just that. And once we have confirmation that they shall be building the towers we begin our march and create the road. I still have need to speak with the Orcs about their help. If needed and the towers take longer to build than the road then we can always give the roads temporary protection until the towers are complete, men may be easily hired from the tavern to guard the place as well when the Fold can not assist. What do you think of this idea?”

Aldred give a slight nod, tracing the western line of the dragonlands with his finger up to the point that it reaches the bazaar, "This idea seems like it could work well enough. Finding men to help with the protection and building of the road should not be hard. Report when you have completed with the orcs."

Aranhil nodded to his fellow Merchant. "I shall, and if you do not mind I wish to hang onto the papers given to us by Rhocielle as well." Should Aldred agree he would stand and gather up the parchments before exiting, his next destination was to meet with Greux and Tristram.

Aldred nods and lets heavy hooves fall on the ground below until he reaches the door and allows it to slowly creak open before he is off to speak with his tribesmen.
