RP:Raz Tries To Catch A Grimoire

From HollowWiki

Background

Aeonis, Raziel, and Roytoc were in the Vailkrin woods when they came upon a Grimoire that keeps disappering and reappering in front of them. After it comes back, Raz tries to catch it, though Roytoc makes her release it once more.

This is part of the arc: The Mystery of the Wandering Grimoire

Forest of Abyssmal Darkness

The forest here is extremely dark, your eyes taking several moments to adjust, unless you are one of the fortunate with dark vision. The area here seems much colder than the path to your east. Spider webs seem to cover the ground, as well as some of the trees, you had best be on your guard. The forest path splits to the north, east and west The way to get out of the forest is to the south.

A large, leather-bound grimoire appears in mid air and falls to the floor with a thud, several black pages tearing themselves free during the descent.

A large, leather-bound grimoire flips a few of its own dark pages before slamming shut and disappearing.

Aeonis tread lightly through the dark, foreboding trunks of the forest, avoiding the more than common spiderwebs that graced many a tree. He wasn't very fond of spiders, nor was he willing to stumble upon any other strange creature in the darkness under the canopy. As Aeon finds a small clearing away from the path, he stumbles upon a strange leather bound book, seemingly left here by another. Scratching his ears with a hind leg, Aeonis shakes and begins to study the book, sniffing it and otherwise trying to see its importance.

Raziel had been sitting a distance away from the clearing, chatting idly with... Nothing? Or at least that's how it would appear. In here hand would be a charm while she talks to something that only she can see... As ironic as that may be. She heard the thud of the book just before Aeonis had gotten there, but paid no mind to it, for it was lesson time and she needed to pay attention to the invisible thing, since it drained her energy to talk to it. Here voice would drift through the area as it went on. Though after some time she holds out the charm to the being and once it touches it and vanishes, she puts it into an inner pocket of her new trench coat, and gets up to inspect the sound as well, catching Aeonis' scent. "Love? That you?" her voice cautious, yet happy. Cautious due to the forest being so eerie.

Aeonis lets out a small, happy sounding bark to let Raziel know it truly was he that stood by the book. He would have spoken, but he was very intent on the task at hand. He had never seen a tome such as this. Bound in leather, with black pages covered in indecipherable words, probably to help hide the secrets within. Aeonis would have continued studying the book for a few more minutes, but it suddenly began to move on its own, the pages speeding by as the turned. Then, after slamming itself shut, the book mysteriously disappears right in front of his eyes, seemingly fading into the shadows of the forest floor. Aeonis lets out a startled yelp and backs away a few paces, his right hind leg getting caught in an unoccupied spider web that clings to his fur.

Raziel sighs and goes to him when the book suddenly makes a loud slam, followed by Aeonis' yip. "What, love, what happened?" Her attention at high alert as she goes to him, and sets her hand softly upon his shoulder. "Everything's alright, dear. Isn't it?" Raziel quite curious about what had just appeared there. After all, it was the Vailkrin woods... Creepy. And always having a sense like one was being watched. Anything in here wouldn't surprise her.

Aeonis tries to remove the web from his hind leg without much success. He paws at the ground using his front right leg, at the spot where the book had been. "It was right there!" he exclaimed. "There was a big leather-bound book right there!" Aeonis shudders, the motion shaking his entire hide into a flurry of black and silver streaked sea of fur from nose to tail. He rubs his head against Raziel, a little unsettled by the strange occurance.

Raziel wraps her arms around his neck, so that his head would be at her shoulders "It's alright love, it's alri-..." a sound behind her. "Oh gods... It's back isn't it?" releasing Aeon, she turns around, appearing as if she's not doing anything, until she suddenly leaps and grabs it, pinning the pages against the ground so it can't move. "Got it!" her gloved hands pressing hard as her fingers curl around either side of the covers.

Aeonis turns around quickly and tries to push Raziel off the book, saying "Raz! Don't touch it! We should at least try to study it first!" Although he knows that she probably won't listen to his reasoning and will continue to grip the leather-bound tome.

Random

Roytoc ate a pickled eyeball.

Aeonis ate a roasted drow calf

Roytoc ooc: I can’t believe you just ate that ._.

Raziel drank an elven-blood wine.

Back to Business

Raziel does, indeed, continue to hold to the tome. "Well how do we study it if it just vanishes? I've never heard of a book that just poofs away!" she rolled over and pinned the book once more, this time using her knee and hand as she rummages through an inner pocket. "Let's see... Ah ha!" she pulls out a roll of bandages and proceeded to tie the book from the left side, to the right, tightly, so that it would remain open. As well as tying up the spine of it. "There we are. Wonder what it is."

Roytoc slowly walked through the dark and gloomy forest of Vailkrin, he wore a blue trench coat made of thick material, under that was a black leather vest, the banner of Frostmaw sewn on the heart, he wore thick black pants and his boots were shined as well, white gloves adorned his hands. The First Ranger also wore his hat, which he rarely donned anymore, it was a black-wide-brimmed hat, with a hawk's feather poking from it, it was low over his face so only his chin would be seen. The Drow had his hands shoved into the trench's pockets, one contained the chubby form of Flare the bunny, and the thick form of him could easily be seen, Roy continued to walk the paths. Slowly the Drow would encounter a strange scene, and he didn't know what to make of it, Raziel was upon the ground seemingly wrestling with a book, and Aeonis was stuck in a web, or at least his foot. Roy reeked of blood, strongly so, the smell of pines mixing in with it, his mouth had drying blood on it actually, the markings going down his chin. The Ranger had went to eat in Vailkrin, and he had had many bloody foods, and a lot of blood itself, and it had been absolutely delicious. "What seems to be the problem here?" He would ask in a stern voice, for the couple looked like they were in trouble.

Aeonis looks up, his eyes showing the slight shock from Roytocs sudden appearence on the scene, as well as the strong scent of blood that pervaded off his being. "Roytoc! Help me get her off this freaky book! It keeps disappearing and showing back up, and she wants to keep it or something!" Aeonis struggles slightly with Raziel, then lets out a sigh and backs up, irritation at the tangled web on his hind leg showing.

Raziel caught the scent of blood just as she struggled to tighten the last bandaging. "There!" though when Aeonis says who's approaching she flips around, book still in hand as she keeps making sure the black pages are pinned down. A sheepish grin made to him. "Umm... Heh. I don't wanna keep it. But if it's bad, then it shouldn't be poofing in and out, right?" she sets it on the ground and pins it with her foot this time, moving to remove her gloves so that she can feel the pages, fingers going towards it cautiously. "I don't think I have a problem happening... It's only a book... Though, I suppose, save for Teacher's journal, I don't have need for a book. Maybe a lovely fire would do it well..." the book trembles beneath her foot as it tries to close and vanish again. "Hey!" her bare hands pressing against the pages again.

Roytoc looked to Raziel and the book, his face deepening into a frown, "Raziel, I've seen that book before, it's a Grimoire, much like the one the creatures bow under, though this one is likely different in many ways. I've seen this one before, in the graveyard," He commented, taking a cloth and cleaning his face with it. The Ranger would approach the woman, his gait unwavering as he would finally arrive in front of her, "I don't think you should touch it," He would war, taking her wrist to stop her. "Pinning it down like this is not wise either, do you really wish for something bad to happen? It could send beasts to slaughter your children, or even kidnap them, it could read into your thoughts. Who knows what it can do, but know it is not a wise decision to capture random Grimoires." The Drow explained all of this in a cautious tone, hoping she would understand him, and not get angry, after all, he was wary with dark magic. Meanwhile, Flare hopped out of Roy's trench and plopped himself onto Aeon's head, not afraid of the wolf at all, a couple chitters would forth come before the bunny would begin nibbling on the wolf's ear.

Aeonis looked up, his brow contracting as the rather large rabbit sat upon his head. He didn't care too much, until it began to nibble his ear, which tickled like the devil. Flicking his ears back and forth to keep them out of reach, Aeon asked Flare to stop, using the beast tongue granted to him by his nature. As this occured, he continued to rub his hind leg against the ground, still trying to remove the spiderweb.

Raziel whimpers, still holding down the shuddering pages of the book. "But maybe it belongs to someone... Maybe they can control it... Nothing would dare hurt my little ones, would they?" she turns to face Aeonis and Flare "Flare, no nibbling on ears love." though she turns back to face the grimoire. "Besides. I'm already touching it... What's the worst that could happen?" obviously Raz doesn't understand anything about this, still very unknowing of many things. She'd reach back into a pocket and pull out her old satchel, unfolding it and sliding the open book in, then holding it out to show Roy. "There, see? Not touching it." the satchel verily shuddering greatly.

Roytoc shook his head, his fingers twitching towards his manacles, though he wouldn't want to place them on her at all, they were silver after all. "Raziel, no, it's dangerous, it is a book that's only purpose is to hold one's dark spells, you need to release it, please. And yes, beasts like that, dark creatures, they don't discriminate, age, sex, race, it doesn't matter. Keeping it is dangerous, you are endangering All your loved ones by holding it." Roy wasn't trying to make it sound overly bad, he despised magic, and knew what it was capable of. The Drow would place an arm on the woman's shoulder and sigh, "I've never lied to you, all I ask is for you to do as I ask, I don't want you endangering your family, we love you, and don't want you hurt either. If it'll make you feel better, sometime, we can search for another book like this one, though not one soaked in dark magic, how does that sound?" He asked softly. For when getting through to Raziel, you had to be kind and understanding. Aeonis growled a bit as he saw Roy's fingers twitch at the cuffs, though luckily he didn't take them out. Flare just chattered some more and thumped his foot rapidly on Aeonis' head, jumping off with a heavy thump in the grass. The bunny made his way to the web and rubbed his ears in annoyance, then sneezed, which caused flames to arc forth through the web, quickly melting away at the sticky substance. Though luckily before it could get to Aeonis the bunny seemed to suck the fire back into it's mouth, his cheeks puffing out, then it would swallow.

Aeonis quirked a brow, the wolf curious and a bit frightened at the prospect of almost being burned, he would kick his leg a bit and walk away from the web, shuddering, offering a thanks to the bunny.

Raziel droops her head, arm dropping to her side as she listens to his words. "I'm sorry... I guess... I wasn't using my brain again, like Mura said the other day..." she sighs and pulls forth the book once more, returning it to where it had been before and pulling out her new dagger. A quick flick is made, severing the bandages at an angle, the pages flipping and slamming the book shut once more, making it vanish again. She hadn't even known that he was going to cuff her... Though that would've most assuredly not been pleasant for her... She hadn't even touched silver once since being bitten... Not with bare skin, at least. The problem was, though, that even though a good portion of her family wasn't fond of magic... It seemed like the more she spent time around others who were magic users, the more interested she got. Even though her magic was only bard magic. After replacing the dagger to her pocket she draws her knees up to her chest, and sets her chin on her knee, thanking Flare for his assistance, in a distant voice, and mentally berating herself for almost harming her loved ones.

Roytoc watched the book go and frowned, it would need to be dealt with someday, for such a dangerous thing shouldn't be running around, poofing in and out. Once he looked away a smile would be given to Raz, he would grab her under her arms and lift her up to her feet, for he was strong, a hug would be given to her. "But you were using your brain, you used your brain and your heart, that's is the best way to do things sometimes. You berate yourself, though you are learning, you are a very beautiful and intelligent woman." Roy told her, his face beaming as he broke the hug, he was enjoying being around her more and more. "You know, I used my brain and heart a couple weeks back, thanks to you… Blanch and I are no longer together, though she has agreed that I will still aid her in raising my child. I stopped it, because you told me it was the best thing, and I trust your judgment," Roy hadn't openly told anyone this before now, and it felt good. The Drow's hand would slip into his trench and pull out a dark bottle, as big as a wine bottle, and place it in Raz's hand, it was filled with pig's blood, which truly wasn't one of Roy's favorites. Pig's blood tasted a bit blander than deer, though it held more of a twang, which was still good. Roy liked goblin's blood sometimes, though it needed to be processed correctly, it was very spicy. Aeonis would raise a brow, looking up at Roy, the boy had liked Blanchette, though he didn't really know her that well, she didn't seem to be bad at all. Though constantly the Ranger's Apprentice did wonder how Roy's face had gotten burned that horribly, and what always seemed to be troubling the man, could it have been Blanchette? Flare, meanwhile would fly and drop upon Aeonis' head once more, the robust bunny chirping a bit as he seemed to curl upon himself to take a nap on the wolf's head.

Raziel allows him to pick her up, and hug her. She liked hugs, they were comforting. But when he releases she shakes her head. "Dad doesn't think so... He thinks I'm intelligent, but I never use it... He was even mad at me for you and Zal saving me from that Slintora fellow..." she sighs again, though her face brightens when he speaks of being broken up with Blanch, returning a hug and whispering "Thank you. I'm glad that you can raise your child, too. And it was more your choice than my judgment, I believe." when she backs up one arm wraps around her middle, while he sticks the bottle into her hand, a sniff made towards it. "Pig's blood?" a quirked brow made, for she's never drunken pig blood, but she could easily tell what animal it was from. "Does it taste like deer blood?" her face turned to it in curiosity. "Also, I think we should get home soon... I got stuff for supper. Zal and I are teaching the kids to differ in what they eat."

Roytoc smiled and nodded, waving to Aeonis and Flare to follow them as they went to follow the path to the manor, "Yes, it does taste a bit like deer blood, though it's a bit thicker, and it has more of a… a twang, you know?" He said idly, walking with his arm around her, just treating her brotherly. "And Muraski is just hard sometimes, I wish he would relax a little and just take a break, he's always busy, though I need to practice what I preach, for I'm much the same, though he gets more angry and stressed out over what he does." Roy smiled and patted her shoulder, still walking for the manor, thinking he wouldn't return to Cenril tonight. Aeonis would just be wagging his tail and following them, happy that everyone was getting along, and feeling rather hungry, also, he wanted to get away from all these spider-webs. "You gotta try goblin's blood though, I know it sounds disgusting, but in Gualon they process it to make it clean, then serve it as drinks, and it's really spicy, like, it has a spicy satisfying taste, I'll get you some sometime," Roy offered.

Raziel nods to his words about the blood, sliding it into an inner pocket, "It's probably cuz it has more fat in it than deer do. Thank you, by the way." She'd pause and reach a hand back for Aeonis, so that she could set her hand upon his shoulder as they all walk. "And, it is that... I suppose. I dunno, he interrogated me in the tavern and threw a bucket of cold water at me... It was embarrassing to say the least." she wouldn't explain further, though something obviously troubled her. She wasn't even going to bring up the sleep mauling part from the other night, hoping that Zal wouldn't either. Though she crinkles her nose at the sound of goblins blood, "That sounds a tad unpleasant... But if you say so. Oh, also, I apologize for not helping out with the shop more, like I said I would. What with the children, and Zal's injury, I've been worried to go far... And Slintora, too. But he told me he'd leave me be from now on... Errm... After waxing poetic to me." a sickened look to cross her features for a moment, recalling when she told him that capturing someone doesn't equal love, and his answer being 'I only did it because I love you.. I don't know any other way.. Please... Be mine.. You are the reason my heart burns so hot. you are the flames of my unfaltering desire.' a shudder coursing through her before she shoves aside the memory.

Roytoc smirked as she talked about the goblin blood, "Just imagine putting the juices of peppers in deer blood, though the blood would be thinner, it really is quite good, I'll see if I can get you some tomorrow, it makes my mouth water thinking about it." The Drow licked his lips a bit, thinking on the blood. "Anyway, that does sound embarrassing, and I apologize for it, you shouldn't have to go through things like that, and remember," Roy looked back at Aeon then towards Raz again, whispering to her, "I will be here, when you cannot tell anyone else." At that Roy smiled once more and they continued on their way, seeing the steeple-like top of his manor. "It's fine about the shop, I have enough workers, and there's only five of us, it's rather fun, and I'm thinking of them as friends now, we're getting close, McGinny, the twins, and Boulder, we're all doing fine. I'm glad that Slintora will leave you alone too, I was getting tired of him, you have enough men to worry about, huh?" Roy grinned, giving her a light nudge with his elbow. Aeonis nuzzled against Raziel, smiling and lopping after them, his tongue hanging from his mouth. He was happy and content right now, he needn't say anything, though he wanted Raz to feel better.

Raziel nods in agreement to the blood "Alright, I guess I could try some. It certainly sounds interesting enough." a nod given when he reminds her that she can tell him things, though this was she wasn't allowed to speak of to anyone. "I'm rather happy you're enjoying yourself... Though I've not yet met the twins, or Boulder, yet. And, yeah, I do have enough men to worry about." she adds a grin with her words, though faces Aeon and then Roy. "May have another one on our hands though. My friend Kyros was bitten by a wild lycan, in these woods. And I was there to help. He passed out and i sent Kraar to get the healer, Yerrel, from Kelay. Then waited with him until Yerrel arrived... It's rather spooky when you do that, too. But he's yet to say if he wishes to join us or not. He's got no family I'm afraid. He had Desparrow and Tanya, but Desparrow is dead and Tanya..." she shakes her head with a heavy sigh "Tanya stopped being his friend when she found out what he's becoming. I was thinking we could give him a home and family? So he knows there's people here for him?" the woman facing her friend and then love with a questioning look. She hadn't asked them of course, but she thought they wouldn't mind since Ky really is of a good heart. "He and I went and hunted a giant squid in the Underdark lake." Raz adds with a shrug.

It Returns!

A large, leather-bound grimoire appears in mid air and falls to the floor with a thud, several black pages tearing themselves free during the
