RP:Rare Herbs Wanted

From HollowWiki

Summary: The Adventurer's Guild and the Healer's Guild agree to partner up in order to hunt down a couple of extremely hard to locate herbs.

Adventurer's Guild Meeting Room

Another letter was sent to Emilia, this one requesting that the two meet at x date and y time. The blonde was eager to discuss the prospect of locating a couple of rare herbs in order of assisting the Healer's Guild, for they have always been of great help to her. If not for Sabrina, Meri might have come dangerously close to dying once. It has been so long since Meri has had the chance to catch up with the popscicle, and the blonde is sorely tempted to bring her baby girl to this meeting so that Emilia can meet her. She thinks better of it. Fleur was able to scoot around and was starting to get too curious for her own good. And the Ice Genasi? Well, Meri had no doubts that Emilia would be nothing but great with Fleur, but all it took was the babe trying to reach out and grab the icy one's ankle. It's for that reason alone that Fleur is left at home. The blonde is seated on a couch with her nose in one of tomes full of forbidden lore while she waits for Emilia. How long will Meri be waiting? She's not sure, the blonde showed up two hours early just in case Emilia herself was an early arrival. When Emilia does arrive, she will find that Meri is pretty much the same person that she was the last time they met. Her sense of style has not changed, her tattoos are still worn proudly. That is not to say that things have not changed for the former human...now werewolf, only that she visually looked well.

Emilia was not the same popsicle that she was the last time she had been in the company of Meri, almost everything about the woman had changed in some way. Those trade mark long wild curls were gone replaced with waist long dread locks falling over the left side revealing the ride side presently shaved bare of hair with a fresh scar running from temple straight back. The left side also seemed to appeared shaved leaving the woman with a dreaded Mohawk. The clothes that clung to her petite frame was mostly similar however the length of the gown feel to the floor hiding those bare feet of hers. Her hand(s) sported a pair of black gloves that ran up past her wrists. The newest addition to her snowy flesh was the intricate ivy work covering her right arm from elbow down. As Emilia entered the meeting room of the guild her footfalls were silent, but that wintery chill did not announce her arrival. In fact, no cold leaked from the wintery woman. Arms full carrying a handful of the said journals as she entered roughly an hour early to meet with Meri whom was already there having herself arrived early to the meeting. The corners of blue lips twitched in a partial smile that was shorted lived before the almost stoic ice-statue look fell on the face of the Genasi. “Hello Miss Meri,” Emi said in a casual greeting as she walked along to bringing herself within proper conversation distance of Meri. Even as she got closer Meri would notice that winter chill did not cling in the air, the room remained at the same temperature.

The woman that stands before Meri is not at all the woman that the blonde was expecting. Well it was, she was just not as she last remembered her. This is both surprising and unsurprising to the werewolf. People change with time, but EMI? Rocking a dreaded mohawk? Overall, Meri did not judge Emilia for the new look, whatever suited the Genasi was suitable enough for Meri. The scar was more concerning than the change of appearance, but Emi was so accident prone. Or at least she was. Also noted was the fact that the room was not at all chilled. Did Emilia perhaps learn to better control her abilities since they last met? "Emi. I think I am digging this new look. What inspired the change?" Not that an inspiration was required, but sometimes they existed. Meri motions to a nearby table that has a handful of chairs surrounding it so that Emi can unload the handful of journals that she brought and make herself comfortable. The chairs were cushioned! "Tell me about how you have been lately before we dive down into the details of where we are going to try and locate these herbs."

Emilia followed the motion to the nearby table to set down the books that filled her arms. Shortly after the journals were departed from the icy woman's arms a black thing crawled out from in the middle of the pile to sit atop the smaller set of journals. Upon closer inspection the thing was an animated black-ice hand, a right hand to be exact and one that oddly resembled the right hand of the Genasi. Couldn't be, could it? She had two gloved hands and here was a third hand. Turning to face Meri again there was a partial smile on blue lips with a shrug of a shoulder, "I find that an arrow to the skull may have had a hand in the change in looks, but I also find that my curls tame better this way. Seems my brother has the right idea with the locks. Always hated the brush anyways." Another shrug of the shoulders and the Genasi turned to snap at the black hand, "Don't go messing the pages up, you." Em scolded it as if it was a pet as it leapt to the other pile nearly knocking the first over. Attention back on Meri, "I have been well, more or less alive than dead. How have you been? You are looking well."

An arrow to the head. That's what happened to Emi. The werewolf frowns at this revelation, for it is indeed unpleasant. "Well perhaps the circumstances were not pleasant, but I think the look suits you." Meri is surprised to hear Emi speak of a brother, but mention of the dreads has her mind flitting to a certain avian. She does not question this statement, she and Khitti have decided to adopt one another. Meri pulls out a chair for herself and manages to just only settle herself into it when this hand appears on the table. Reanimation is not an unfamiliar concept for Meri but that does not stop her from jumping up out of her seat in surprise. And then Emi scolds it. Meri lifts both brows as she slowly sinks back down into her chair. "Oh....you...have a Thing..." Meri stares at the hand, paying little attention to the journals that Emilia has brought with her. "You are just full of surprises today..." And Meri has not fully decided what she thinks of any of these surprises. They did not seem to be good. Emi took an arrow to the head, after all. What happened in order for Thing to be created? Meri frowns. "More alive than dead is good...I have been okay. I am not sure any of my recent happenings are nearly as exciting as yours..." Meri finally stops staring at the hand and sets her sights on the journals.

Emilia frowned a moment watching Meri jump as the hand of hers made its presence known. Then she called the hand a Thing which made the hand start wagging a finger in an angry gesture at her before it jumped from the table and stormed off to another part of the room. With a sigh the Genasi slid into a chair herself, "Not a Thing.. Righty, my right hand, is temperamental at best like a puppy that refuses to train. I lost it saving Thamalys' life awhile back and whatever spell the necromancer used on it in that moment never ended and since then I have had Righty with me. Don't worry the limb loss healed well, the stump is fine. Not that I could tell anyway, I cannot feel pain..too frozen. But it healed quickly, not as quick as the arrow wound, but faster than when Sabrina cut me apart a few times to remove bones and coat them in a metal before replacing then and much faster than when the drow man had me and tried to figure me out under the knife...." A shake of the head sending dreads falling into her face, "Sorry. I will stop rambling. I didn't come here to get ya all worried on me. Promise, I am doing well enough. I am most happy to hear you are well." Em said with a warm smile. The Genasi sure had a unique life. Turning her attention away from the ramblings under the intimidation from Meri, something that was not intentional the white woman knew, but some people still had that affect on her once in awhile, Em picked up one of the journals, "Into the desert there has been spottings of one herb, but the problem with this is that while it is closed up it blends into the sand. When the sun is at its highest it blooms for a short time, a deep green and visible to find. The heat can be dangerous for a normal being, but deadly to ice..."

Emilia tries to correct her, the hand even expresses its dislike for the name 'Thing'. Alas, Meri is probably not going to be so quick to let her nickname for the hand go. "Ah. Righty." As Emilia explains how she came about Righty along with how it has not been one of the worst experiences that she has undergone since she and Meri last chatted, Meri is the one frowning. In the end though, she can't really comment too much. It's not like Meri also is not putting herself in dangerous situations. Injuries are abound to happen. "Well that's one way to come by a new puppy. I adopted mine. You'll have to tell me about why Sabrina was cutting you open some time soon..." The Genasi did indeed have a unique life, combined with the fact that it had been some time since Meri and Emilia had the chance to sit down at catch up. However Emilia was starting to flip open the pages of the journal, and she was giving Meri the details about where she saw a spotting of one of the herbs. "Well Scandal is a dragon...I think that is something that we can put to good use. Maybe he'll be able to spend some time flying in the area and doing some scouting to see if we can't locate, or at least hone in on any sort of sightings...Depending on how short of a time we are talking about?" Seconds. Minutes. An hour. The shorter the amount of time they had to work with, the trickier finding this flower particular herb would be.

Em flipped through more pages of one journal before picking up another to being to flip through it for a page that had been marked with a flower sticking out of it, "It blooms for only half an hour at a time. According to the notes in some journals if you are there when it blooms and you inhale the dust it emites it will put a full grown giant to sleep. I think that could be helpful to have Scandal flying above for the searching. I am not sure about his eye sight from above, but he can create shade from above for anyone on the ground. That could keep people much cooler when searching and working than being in the direct light of the sun. I believe that it will also recquire a fair amount of the dirt in which it grows to be returned with it. Not many plants like new dirt. The wrong soil can kill a plant before it ever gets a chance to shine." With one hand the Genasi flipped the open journal around so that Meri could take a look at the drawings in the journal of the flower when it was all closed up. It seemed like any other dessert rock. The page after showed it opened. Amazing how nature worked. "I will have to do more research on the dust it emites. There is really not a great deal about it in these except to not inhale it. I wonder if one could mix it with other herbs to make a sleeping potion..."

While Emilia is explaining these details, Meri is taking notes. If the desert heat was no place for an ice genasi, Meri wanted to make sure that she had all the details straight so that she can reference them repeatedly while preparing for this journey. "Well we are going to have our work cut out for us then. I think the best approach is to have Scandal start us off by searching from the skies, like I said. Once he is able to pinpoint where one is growing at...We can take it from there. He might be able to provide us shade from above..But I think ultimately we're going to have to put a lot of thought into the plan. If it can put a giant to sleep, then it can easily put us to sleep. We'll obviously want to spend a bit of time brainstorming our approach as a guild before we commit to any one plan. Still...I think we have a solid start idea for trying to find this one. It might take Scandal a couple searches through the desert before he is able to locate anything anyway, I would think." Meri gives a shrug. Maybe luck would be in the dragon's side. "Bringing the earth back sounds like the easiest part of this. Anyway. That was one of two herbs you want retrieved, no? Tell me about the second."

The Genasi shifted back in her seat, adjusting herself to sit on one leg under her to gain a better visual of Meri while sitting across the table form her. The short stature of the woman mixed with a stack of journals made it a little hard to see her and be polite while talking. Once Meri finished the Genasi started up again, "Scandal will indeed be of great help in the desert. Perhaps we can tie people off him and he can fly them over the ground." There was a small giggle from the icy woman at the visual of what she had just said. Digging through the stacks of journals the Genasi was looking for the next plant that, if found, she would be a most happy healer. Finally, a medium sized journal that was well worn was flipped open. "The second one is one that is found off the cliffs. It used to be found along most any seaside cliff, but has not been seen in years, until recently someone climbing a down a cliff to get to a cavern off the island was brought in to the clinic, they are still in a state of paralysis. They say that near to where the plant grows there is a creature that flutters near, if you look at it directly in the eyes it puts the body in an awake dazed coma like state. This creature was said to have vanished years and years ago, but after many days of work up this is the conclusion I have come to. With the traces of the purple dust on them. I cannot say what the creature looks like, no one has ever seen in and remembered it, but if it is out there then we can fix this man up! I also have a feeling that we could create other curls with it. If I can get both to grow in the greenhouse then they can be always at hand and save trips around the land looking for them."

The blonde woman makes a cross-eyed expression at the thought of dangling from a rope from a flying Scandal. This was not Meri's idea of a good time. "Oh how charming this will be." Meri is being both sarcastic and serious at the same time, for this would be quite a challenge and yet challenges could prove to be quite fun. "So in one hand, whatever team we send out can bake alive in the desert sun...and in the second one, we have a fluttering creature that can put you in a paralytic state if you look into it's eyes...and it's found in a location where one really does not want to be paralyzed and really needs to see what they are doing. And since the suspicion is that the creature is probably even attracted to the flower that we think might be growing on that cliff. No flowers, no creature." Meri frowns. "Which means that bringing giant fly swatters is probably not going to be something that we want to do because this creature is probably just as endangered as the flower. "So I am going to say that if we are successfully able to harvest this flower, the responsible thing to do would be to try and repopulate it in the location that we found it, once you guys get a handle on it's growth....Which I think you should ask Callum to aid you with. Hopefully by repopulating these flowers, this fluttering creatures will repopulate too. Of course, we'll want to make sure that they're not going to be a menace. Having a paralytic defense mechanism is one thing...We'll figure that part out once we actually encounter this creature I guess."

The Healer gave a nod, "Sounds about right. Thamalys and I tend to never have luck with the easy to find herbs. Both are challenging tasks, but I believe with the right people we can see if they are to be found. I will indeed seek out Callum for some aide in the cliff side ones. I am not so sure about the creature, but there could be a possibility that it could make for a unique weapon enhancement. I do agree that it would not be wise to repopulate a creature that causes more havic than good. I am glad that I have a group that I can come to when help is needed." Em replied with a gentle smile on those frosted blue lips.

Meri makes a couple more notes about the two different missions for the guilds to embark on, the woman did not want to forget to relay any important information when the time comes. Once Meri felt like she had all of the important information that she needed, that tattooed blonde begins to gather everything up. "Well it sounds like we have much to plan for. I will get to working on this and be in touch with you ASAP with some first steps. But for now, I need to get going. Dinner and family call." Meri offers Emilia a wink. With papers gathered up, Meri wiggles her fingers in a wave and then scampers off upstairs.
