Dimly Lit Reading Room

Raevyn made her way into the dimly lit reading room with some sort of determination; All initial intent to find a specific vampiric mortician and relay the news as to what has been going on as of late. She came, gressed in her newest garb, red and black robes embroidered in gold. Her face was painted to replicate some sort of ghoulish skull and her hair was slicked back down past her shoulders. The young necromancer was soon to start her evening charade as Larket's newest priestess and had spent the past hour or two getting ready to play her part. The soft indigo glow of the scythe fought to outshine the plethora of candles, but in the end, would not be the victor as she stepped further into the room. The girl stood then, looking around, hoping to find the man she was here to speak with- Her mentor and guiding hand, Bradyn.

Bradyn was not within sight initially, as per about the norm with the vampire, but it does not take long for the Maharan to make his presence known. Out from the shadows Bradyn emerges, approaching the woman who is clearly here with a purpose. The new attire is noted, as well as the ghoulish face paint that Raevyn now wears. As expected, Bradyn is not one to question the fashions of women, she would have to expand upon these choices of her own accord and perhaps to the mortician's dismay. Little has changed about Bradyn himself, especially his attire. His favored color was still black. In his usual down to business manner, Bradyn addresses the young Necromancer. "Raevyn. I was hoping you would make an appearance soon. We have several things to discuss." And with that said, he leaves her to begin. Bradyn does not think she ventured down to this place for a friendly social visit, she must have her own agenda to address.

Raevyn was admittedly a little excited. The new position had been paying off in some regard, what with her preaching already being heard by some of the townsfolk. Not all have been quite so welcoming, but others had let their minds become open to the word of Vakmatharas. "Yes, of course, Mister Mahara." she begins with a smile. "I... met with Queen Josleen, again. We have established a tale, one in which will be used to begin a new religion based on Vakmatharas' teachings. We will... appeal to the more fantastical natureof the citizens. Those longing for hope. We want to push the annual sacrifice as a rewarding thing, something in which the Larketians will willingly fall over one another to take part." Raevyn was still coming to terms with the falsehoods she had been spreading, but there was something deep, deep down that caused the girl to grin as she revealed this information to her Necromancy mentor. "I have taken it upon myself to dress appropriately, as I am sure you have noticed. To fit into a role to keep my personal identity secret. When in my vestments, I shall take on the moniker, Sister Solarus." A very careful scartch is given to the girl's right eyebrow with one lengthy nail, trying her best not to botch the paint job too terribly. "Queen Josleen will be putting on a production soon, a play, something to entertain the people of Larket. There will be a festival in which I will speak publically and establish this new persona on a more official level." pearly whites are flashed toward the vampire. "I do hope that this is to your liking? I have been studying up on Vakmatharas more as of late, so I apologize if my necromancy studies have been brushed off a little. I promise to get back to it in between the days I must... perform, if you want to call it that."

Bradyn admittedly did not truly care if Larket succeeded in their endeavor to convert their citizens into followers of Vakmatharas. If they succeeded? Splendid. Vakmatharas would have numerous followers, perhaps some would not truly be sincere but...no matter. Perhaps it would take root in time. If they failed? Well the King, Queen and citizen's of Larket would find themselves in the same situation they were in to start. Raevyn looks quite excited though, so Bradyn does not burst her bubble by informing her that he does not truly have a strong invested interest. He had not even fully expected that Raevyn would be drawn into the plan, but her reaction to everything that had transpired that day was intriguing. "Good. Good. It sounds like Vakmatharas will soon have a healthy following within Larket." The mortician moves away from Raevyn, toward a table that is collecting dust and webs. The Maharan picks up a couple of books left out, brushing them free of dust before shelving them for safe keeping. "Speaking of your studies. You have been at the rank of Novus Morior for long enough. And despite a small absence, you put much effort toward your studies. You are being promoted to the rank of Sceleratus"

Raevyn's eyelids half-fell, body twisting to follow the vampire's movement. She seemed a bit confused, or mistaken, as if those words spoken hadn't been exactly clear. When the idea of a promotion finally dawned upon her, the young necromancer smiled from ear to ear. "Really? Thank you, mister Mahara!" immediately the first thing that came to mind was more access to the library. She would not speak of this fact, however. The book in which she sought to decode had been misplaced and she was a bit embarrassed by this lack of judgement. "Well. May I ask, what exactly does this level entail- Sceleratus? What should I expect? Rather, what sort of tasks should I prioritize now?" She tried her best to not get all giddy. Perhaps tonight she would celebrate after her venture to Larket! "Also, what of Celaeno? Has she too been promoted? Come to think of it, have you seen her as of late?"

It is better that Raevyn not inquire about further access, for were it to come up that she lost the book she had the goal of decoding, then there would be judgement from the Maharan. If that is how she treated her own belongings that were supposedly of value to her, how would she treat the other books in the library? Yes, this is best kept from the Maharan. Bradyn does not even hesitate in giving Raevyn her answer. "The biggest difference is the you are formally a full fledged member of the guild. Some in the past have been more rigid to the concept of sponsorship as a Novus Morior It is not something that I have highlighted with you guys. What I would like is for you to pick a focus or two for your studies, perhaps two within the basic arts for now, one from the advanced. Consider if you want to take on any teaching position within when you reach your next rank, if there is anything of interest make sure your studies will progress you to that goal." There is likely more to be said, but Bradyn is going to give Raevyn a moment to absorb all of those details.

Raevyn nods, thinking over the various areas of study she had been glossing over in her spare time. Some were fairly basic- Sigils, soul stones, things that she had been growing accustomed to. The Black Tides were an area she really wanted to delve into, given Kitty's first display of the ability to summon and dispel items at a moment's notice. One advanced. The advanced magics hadn't quite been given enough thought as of yet, as she hadn't really gotten so far into the reading material. The mainstays all seemed like logical next steps, but one seemed to stand out furthest from the others, one school that sounded familiar and yet so foreign. Carnology. Visceromancy. "Very well, I shall make that my highest priority then, mister Mahara. I will take time tomorrow to visit the headquarters and brush up on the advanced courses to see which would suit my needs best." A smile! "When I choose my major, I shall be sure to seek you for guidance."

"Before you go," which means that Bradyn has gotten the impression Raevyn was about ready to depart -- he was content with this, the heartless jerk that he is. "Celaeno is quite close to her next promotion. She knows what she needs to complete. One of them involves her working with Genevieve, the only Novus Morior left, to create a soul stone. I would like you to pay a visit to the guild headquarters and pick one of the tasks that were created by Khitti and Larewen during their time. Once you figure out which task you think would be good to complete, I would like you to seek Genevieve out and complete it with her help." This was a request with multiple purposes. First it would give Raevyn another point toward her promotion, it would give Genevieve a point toward her's, and the two could do that thing that Bradyn is not very good at. They could make friends. Gal-pal's. Yay. "If you have no further questions, then off with you." Be that to explore what other parts of the library she can get in to, or departing from Vailkrin completely. Bradyn did not care either way.

There was some sort of look in Raevyn's eye. It was certain type of confusion that bled recognition. "Genevieve?" Why had that name sounded familiar? Celaeno spoke it, didn't she? No. No, that can not be right. She and Celaeno hadn't really met lately. It's been months! ...Hadn't it? She began to doubt herself, her own thoughts and memories, but to Bradyn she would not reveal this little bit of strangeness. He had placed trust in her, promoted her, and with this, she must show strength. "Of course, mister Mahara. I will do this at once." A weakened smile this time. From inside her vestments a featureless golden mask is produced, soon slipped over that ghastly skull painted over her face. "I must head out to spread faith over the doubters for now, sir. Do have yourself a pleasant evening." Raevyn bows slightly, hood lifted over her head soon after. Without much else to go over, the young woman turns and lets the light of her scythe be her guide out of the black library.
