Smyth College of Bardic Arts

After finding your way through the Topiary Garden it would only be fitting to come upon a building which looks like a section taken right out of any castle in the same style as all of Schezerade, in all it's decadence; marble forming the entirety of the large building accented with gold and platinum in which you'll have to cross over a glass bridge in order to reach it. The front door is welcoming for all shapes and sizes that are the citizens of Hollow and spans a great distance in it's solid French Door of a design. Opening it up one might be perplexed at the ability for the fortress to hold such music coming from the main hall there with all of the astute students practicing their talents. Once immersed, the eyes might be stolen by the gaping cathedral ceilings above, spotted by gold and platinum in which encircle mini glowing stones to mimic the night sky, but beauty is not what the ceiling is for; it carries one's voice in the most pleasing fashion. This main hall is quite a vast oval-shaped room, but the walls are shelves, carved into small diamond shapes. Each slot contains a scroll to nearly any song someone might wish to hear or practice in it's magic. Among the marvelous white-wood, gold-accented, concert grand piano in the middle of this large room there are a plethora of nearly every musical instrument imaginable, one just has to look.

Nearing further into the castle one's nostrils might pick up on the scent of mouth watering food being cooked wafting from the kitchen which is north of the main room and it also holds an elegant dining area containing a handful of small tables. In the corner of this kitchen there is a winding staircase which travels below where students are bustling to and fro. If you wish to stay, grab your favorite spirits from the well stocked kitchen and listen to the bardic magics, relax in one of the many luxurious sofas strewn about these to areas. Off to the east corner of the main hall, there is a locked staircase with an outreaching design in onyx stone overlay which is seemingly inking over into the pristine luxury you’ve found yourself in. It's as if the area above holds a darkness that's attempting to leak out into this little slice of heaven… Better just leave that door alone.

Alex wanders down the hall with his left hand tucked away in the pocket of his pea coat while the right grips a ripe red apple that is he tears apart with massive bites. His left cheek packed full of fruit while the juice falls down his chin and wrist making him a sticky sight yet his overall hygiene has improved since arriving at the college. The clothes he'd found during his bathing sessions 'tailored' to his fit meaning the long dress pants had been sheared with a pocket knife leaving strings of fabric dangling in all directions while large untied boots flap off his feet with every step. Bright blue eyes bounce around to take in the sights while he savors his delicate and delightful snack, in the near week he'd arrived Alex hadn't taken any responsibility in the college, he didn't attend classes though he did often times watch from a distance while gorging himself on the free grub. The glorified bum pays little attention to where he's going as he continues around the as of now, still unfamiliar routes of the school.

Brennia was carrying a stack of papers to grade for terms and rounding quickly around a corner in her pumps making clicking sounds on the marble floor. Seems they are both distracted enough to run right into each other only making the tall avian woman stagger back a little, “apologies Alex! I should have been paying more attention.” Her spectacles became a little skewed upon the bridge of her nose as she opted to just take them off, fold them, and hand them on the V over her silky lavender blouse. The blouse is tucked into a high waisted and form fitting pencil skirt and leaves a slit in the back for her massive onyx wings. She gets down on her knees as the papers she was holding onto had scattered on the marble floor and she attempts stacking them the way she had them.

Alex gasps as the two of them collide and as he staggers his left boot comes loose causing him to stumble over the heel and crash to the floor with a thud. Her apology almost isn't heard as his watches his apple roll down the germ covered hall with a broken heart portrayed in his eyes. The frown on his face is still present when he turns to register who he's just bumped into, "Oh! Uh, not a problem Miss Brennia. I wasn't really paying any attention, so, yeah, uhm, my fault." He explains before moving to slide the dislodged boot back over his foot before helping her gather some of the spilled papers while on his hands and knees. He hands them to her and a stain claims the bottom right of the tidy stack from the fruit juice and the sound of the paper peeling from his skin seems to remind him of his apple because he moves to pluck it up from the floor and sniff it before he wipes it on his coat and takes another large bite. He's staring now, it's rude but he seems almost clueless as he munches away while staring at her figure. Only a few seconds pass before he openly claims without shame, "You know *crunch, crunch, crunch*, you're very pretty. *crunch, crunch, crunch* I wish *crunch* I had *crunch, crunch, crunch* wings like that." He gulps to swallow the bite. "It'd be really rad to fly everywhere and stuff. I get tired of running." He hasn't blinked when he goes to take another bite.

Brennia is not phased by the man’s attire nor his lack of manners, or the ruined paper. Not everyone was raised in royalty and she also doesn’t mind his blatant checking her out. All that was garnered from the compliment was a humble, “thank you, Alex,” and no blush or shyness exuded her. She's a confident Avain woman and definitely taller than him right now in those pumps. “I do hope you know there are plenty of other apples out there,” a kind suggestion, “don’t need you getting sick now. A lot of bard’s are interested in hearing you play. What do you play?” Stunning and large liberty blue eyes set down on him and surely his favorite scent can be picked up from their proximity.

Alex can't stifle the laugh and huge smile that floods his features regardless of his chewing when she mentions him getting sick, "Ahaha, ah, man, I've eaten so many disgusting things and taken so many dr-... Er, I've got a crazy immune system I mean. I don't remember the last time I had the sniffles. Except, uh, from withdrawals." He smirks again and takes a final bite of the apple to give himself time to process her question, as he holds the core he looks around for a trash can and upon not finding one simply stuffs the remains in his pocket. "Jack of all trades *munch, munch*, master of none! *munch, munch* Well, except singing." He shrugs as he swallows. "I prefer drums when playing in Gamorg and Frostmaw, lutes in Kelay, flutes or clarinets for the kids in Gualon and guitar pretty much everywhere else. I can handle anything but I doubt I'd stack up well against these other cats. Also, as far as I know, I can only do cool magic stuff with my throat, er, voice rather. Otherwise, instruments just sound good, anything the common man could do."

Brennia continued to smile kindly down at him when she finishes for him, “drugs?” A subtle shrug given, “no one here cares about that. I smoke herbs on occasion.” She listens to his explanation before a soft and short chuckle is given, “we are not looking to be wowed, Alex… we are looking to share experiences. This place isn’t about learning new tricks, it is about honing your skill and making something out of it weather it be grand or not.” She starts with his name again said with a twist on her tongue which sounds of taboo, but the desire to hear it again and again from those plump lips a heavy one, “Alex… Do not sell yourself so short.” A gentle placement of her hand on his shoulder in her kindness given.

Alex's expression is either confused, scared or utterly lost in the moment when her hand touches his shoulder, dancing eyes narrow as he looks up to her with a twist of his lips allowing him to chew on the inside while he pondered the sudden intimate need to hear her voice again. Was she using her voice to manipulate him or was he just nervous? He wrinkles his nose and turns to her arm, sticking his long tongue out from between his lips and running the saliva covered surface up her tattooed skin before smirking again, hoping to turn the confused/scared/utterly lost tables on the avian. "The science of selling yourself short is a delicate and brittle one. I'm far too dumb to master it. I prefer to over sell myself. Get me an audience and I will place." He says through a bright grin with a twitch in his eye.

Brennia only quirked a brow at his interesting act and not retreating or flinching away… “hmm… Luckily I wasn’t working in the science labs today, sir Alex.” She wipes her salva covered wrist on the tight fabric covering her wide hip. Her mind jumps to the mention of guitar and immediately thinks of Pilar “Also you play the guitar… That is rare here and I have met someone who could learn from you if you don’t mind?” Noting the twitching eye she blatantly asks, “Alex, am I making you uncomfortable?” Being a romantic sort of naturally seducing person she is personal space doesn’t really register on her when interacting with other people.

Alex tilts his head at her inquiry and is already nodding before she finishes her sentence, "Of course. I'm always willing to teach others music. It makes the world a much better place when music fills the air." Then he's smirking again at her follow up question, "That's the problem Miss Brennia, I'm never comfortable." Despite his tone and grin it wasn't a joke, he motions down the hall in the general direction of where he's been staying. "I've managed to have some of my gear brought her by an errand boy including my guitar, who do you have in mind?"

Brebnia softly chuckles at his words, “I do hope we can change that here. If you would like you can have your own class to teach at your own leisure… No pressure.” Aside from her attire and sort of regal way of existing she seems like quite the laid back non judgemental type. “I have recently come across a woman, Pilar. She recently came in possession of a guitar as a gift, but she’s struggling with the technical aspect of it. I think she could really do well with your aid, Alex.” again the unknown to the Avian of her slight accent saying people’s names in the fashion she does.

Alex is taken back by the offer of teaching. Really? A slob running the show on how to pluck some strings? He thinks about the attire of most of the students he's seen attending the college and then makes sure to look Brennia over once more, it wasn't anything flirtatious or romantic, he was just in a sort of disbelief and before he can answer he hears the name Pilar which causes him to pause. The name ringing like a fire bell in his mind though he has no memory of why he knows it, the two had met before but his mind was so fried that he had trouble remembering the circumstances, surely something that would pass upon their "re-meeting". Snapping out of the daze he nods repeatedly, "Uh, yeah, yeah, yeah! I'd love too, that'd be awesome!" His answer a proper reply to both questions.

Brennia shines her brilliant smile down at him, “thank you, Alex!” She steps in as if she was going to hug him, but things better of it remembering it would probably just make him run for the hills. “Well professor Alex. I look forward to us working together.” She doesn’t look him up and down like he does her, “I don’t dictate what my professors or students wear for it’s really none of my concern. I want the focus to be more on the music, but if you would like I can take you to find some suits. Completely up to you.” She was genuine in her words of his free will and she gives a shrug while stepping around him in order to saunter on down the corridor.
