RP:Preparations At The Falls

From HollowWiki

Summary: Scandal is making observations at the waterfall, when Lanara happens across his path. The two discuss 'Razurath' and the necessary ingredients they must gather in order to enchant the amulet that will assist the dragon in his transformations. A plan is devised to recruit party members to aide them in the long journey around the realm.

Scandal bent one knee as he looked over the cliff that the falls plummeted into. His appearance was really freaking out, his transformation power were far out of whack, the most he had managed to been able to do is keep it in check by taking on a more anthromphoric form. His height was the only thing he had managed to somewhat keep in check. Beyond that, his appearance portrayed black scales and a red fleshy underbelly, with a tail that moved and swayed with his mood. His large wings closed, the way he was kneeling one may have mistaken him for a painted gargoyle. His red eyes watching the mists knowing full well what lurks below. He wore some worn pants that were cut off at the knee and black in color, beyond that he wore nothing else. Nothing to cover his robust physique. His throat bulged around and near his jowls near the back area of his snout, casually he spewed an acidic green stream which upon touching a rock nearby it bored a hole into where it landed, deepening about 6 inches in less than a second, and into a foot, by three it had burst into flame producing heat, and sulphur blue color. His acid sacs now empty for the time being, he watched the sun setting sky with patience, as if waiting to see something emerge from the dark.

Lanara appears from the eastern side of the falls, walking cautiously over the slippery stone bridge, and looks like a model strolling along the catwalk. The elf is wearing a lime green bikini, a silken sarong is tied around her waist and rests diagonally across her upper thighs, and she’s wearing tan sandals upon her feet. Her long chestnut locks flow freely, gently swaying in the breeze, and slightly curling, from the mixture of humidity and dampness of the waterfall. A fire lily is tucked behind her tapered ear, and she lazily stretches, causing her belly-button ring to sparkle in the nearing darkness. The sun is rapidly setting in the background, and a slight decrease in temperature, had woken the woman, causing her to head back home. However, as she steps over the threshold of bridge and land, her chocolate hues settle upon the form of Scandal, and whereas in the past she wore confusion when seeing him in his dragon form, she recognizes his colors, almost immediately. “Scandal! What are you doing out here?” The elf had planned to send him a letter the next morning, to ask if they could meet up at the Inn, however, seeing that he was now directly in her path, it seems a good time as any to broach the topic of his transformation situation. “I read over mother’s grimoire and consulted my sister on the matter of your shifting. The list of ingredients needed isn’t all that long, however… The journey to retrieve the things we lead you down treacherous paths, and you won’t be able to handle it all on your own…” Her voice trails off, as she plucks the lily from behind her ear, and twirls it between her fingertips, awaiting his reaction.

Scandal heard the soft stepping of padded footwear and turned slightly. Not seeing anything he turned his head to the otherside, and nearly spotted what it was when he was startled by Lanara's voice. Turning around quick, he said, "Oh hi." He paused realizing that she looked well, in her current form. He bit down on his jaw, to try to keep himself, together before releasing when the moment had passed. "I have trying to some things out, for one what i saw beneath these clouds, and two why more Razurath seem to be all over lithrydale." He paused before replying, "Define treacherous."

Lanara tilts her head to the side, her large doe eyes widening at the state that Scandal is in, as she’d never seen the dragon so pensive, reserved, and concerned. Her steps immediately halt, and she places one hand on her hip, while the other wraps around a thick branch of a nearby tree. “Who or what is Razurath? And what do you mean it’s under the clouds?” The witch looks to her left and right, confusion evident in her gaze, and she ponders the definition of Razurath as she awaits an answer. In regards to the ingredients necessary for the enchantment of the amulet she had picked up at an antique shop in Cenril that would aid the dragon in his transformation time, she shrugs her slender shoulders. “I mean, it’s not a huge deal if you have a party that’s willing to accompany you on your journeys. But one dragon to face foes that have magic, stamina, hand-to-hand, and warrior-like skills, not to mention creatures big and small? Not that I doubt your defense abilities, but it’s far too much to handle, Scandal. Especially since all four items are in different sectors of the realm. One is in Frostmaw, an icy tundra. One is in Enchantment, a forest filled with magical cretins. The other is in Vailkrin, the city of the undead. And the final ingredient is… In Craughmoyle, which is literally, underground. You will have to circle Lithrydel to gather what is necessary, and it will take time, stamina, gold, and every ounce of fight you have in you. But I know it will be worth it in the end! So. You already have recruited me to this cause… You bring the brute strength, and you can fly. I am the magic user. Perhaps you can recruit a warrior of some time, for hand-to-hand combat? And another healer? Just to be on the safe side. And we’ll take another ally, someone that is skilled with navigating, like a pirate or a ranger. A party of five should do it! I suggest posting notices in the local taverns. In the meantime, you and I both need to train and prepare for the journey ahead.”

Scandal stood, stretching his body, as he did so, "Razurath, they are, a tavern spoke of an event last year of something to do with Saurian Gateway, and the warriors guild was responsible for stopping wave of dinosaurs that tracked across the Lithrydel as far as Larket, the Razurath stood out unique among the other dinosaurs because of their sentience and their uniquely extensive intelligence, two rogue memeber of the Razurath were responsible in leading these dinosaurs on the rampage, and the warrior's guild slew them not far from here in venturil, later it was revealed that their are multiple tribes of Razurath living beneath these falls in a hidden valley." He paused and reaching between some cracks he pulled out a book, "This book was written by the guild member who was captured, and gives a full detailed description of what these razurath are and the different tribes that exist. Since then the Razurath haven't shown themselves in a long while, but only recently I found a passage from the hot springs of frostmaw to some portal that came out here in venturil, just beneath these falls. That is where I found this book, and I also met one of them, and their, slaves i think, can't explain the relationship, like slaves but almost like kin, it was weird. Anyway since I took the book hoping to get to Lionel when I manage to get up there again, as the book was written for him, by the author, since then, I had three Razurath with flesh as white as snow, following me for days, I only lost them when a Sea dragon was able to help me fake my death, and since then, I have found more and more activity of them outside of venturil." He realized that maybe he had been to descriptive. So he paused and responded to her idea of joining him to find some articles, "Your kindness is appreciated, I would be happy to have your help, what should we do to train?"

Lanara tries to follow his explanation of the Razurath, though it’s easy to see that she’s either tired, bored, or perhaps, confused. She knew little of the reptilian race, and their lore always seemed to easily confuse her, though she tries her hardest to follow his line of explanation. “So… They are, erm, dinosaurs? And they live in various places… And they are both slaves and family to each other? And Lionel wrote this book… Wait. How exactly does Lionel fit into any of this? He’s not a dragon… I mean, not that I know of, as I’ve only seen him look, well, human. Or bronze… I’m pretty sure there’s a statue of him in Frostmaw. He’s in a bathtub. It’s both creepy and alluring to gaze upon.” Her words trail off, as she clears her throat, and glances at the beauty of the waterfall, the sun having completely set, though fireflies and a randomly placed torch seem to keep this spot lit just enough to be able to discern the fall from a random rock or other objects. Good thing too, otherwise one could easily plunge to their death. The chill in the air causes her flesh to sport goose pimples, and she rubs her arms, and shakes her head. “I have to head home now, but I’m glad we bumped into each other. As for training… Well. We need to practice our magic, as well as improve our strength, and stamina. Maybe some cardio and weight lifting? Perhaps a spar, here and there? Once we gather a party of those that wish to help in your journey, we can plan a route and gather items to make tents, prepare meals, and of course, healing items. Maybe we can shoot for heading out in a week or two. But, why don’t we meet for breakfast in a few days? We can go over our progress then, and I’ll try and recruit my sister, as a healer.”

Scandal shook his head realizing that while a few parts were accurate, she had understood the whole thing. "Relax." he said waving his hand. "Its burdensome on my mine to, all I can say is, Lionel didn't write it, this dragon Ameno did, and Ameno wrote in the book that it was for Lionel's use." He noticed her shiver, slightly, "Cardio, weightlifting, sparring, yeah we can definitely do that, maybe I can cook, I used to be pretty good, though it has been some time, Yeah, lets do another breakfast I am craving that oatmeal." He said. When she left he would turn around, and watch the cloud layer in the valley, only to suddenly be disturbed as a vertical green glow began to emanate from obviously something tall and vertical in the valley, which moved progressivly down the structure, until vanishing and low deep hum, pulsated through the clouds, and he felt its vibration through the ground. "What are they up to?" He said aloud as the process soon repeated itself again.
