Summary: A rare side of Irenic is revealed.

House of Ara

Upwards from the river bank lays a small path to The House of Ära. The details of this place are plain and not overly extravagant. Everything seems to have a place, and everything that has a place is in its place. The well kept artifacts are random, not fitting any motif other than being of a magical nature. The items here are protected, unwelcome hands of thieves are sure to be met with a sting they will not likely forget. Located in the center of this room is a table meant for a large piece of Text, it appears to have been moved…

Once a home to the Book of Ära, the House of Ära has been remodeled to take in Larket’s wounded…

There is a long hall that faces north; at the end of the hall is an extravagant washroom complete with a large round tub approximately three feet deep and possibly six foot across and accessible to clean and soak the wounded . The door on the left belongs to the owner of this house; the door on the right appears to be a guest room. The kitchen is off center to the south and it smells like food is cooking. There is a shelf with colorful bottles lining all the way to its depths, stay awhile and have a drink.

Emilia lied on the floor with a series of books laid open surrounding her along with a map and a scroll written in some ancient writing. The woman almost smaller looking, if that was even possible, than normal...almost as if she had melted away in part. Sitting on the Genasi's lower back was an orphan lad with a brush in hand. Having healed fully the boy was 'repaying' the debt by attempting to comb out those pesky wild curls as Em worked. "You know, Eemee, you have been staring at that scroll for weeks now and not a single thing has come of it. Maybe you have the wrong books? Or perhaps not meant to run that Guild of yours...where are your other people? Why do they not help you?" he rambled on ever so bluntly. Em lifted her head and looked back at the lad, "Eventually Feather Stick will come back for you and then you can ask him all the questions in the world," she'd say with a smile before moving to ruffle his hair with that oddly black hand.

Irenic finds himself upon the healer of Larket's house looking like he could be in actual need of it himself, but not this day. Looking a bit more weathered than usual he meandered his way to the door to knock upon it with a sharp sucking of air through his teeth as he'd forgotten his knuckles were bruised and battered. A grunt of an expletive was uttered and once as his bi-colored eyes, one slightly swollen still, glare on the spot of blood they left behind causing the lines of his jaw to tense while attempting to smudge it off with his sleeve. And yes, to answer your question from the first sentence he has opted to walk on this day instead of fly, his wings may show the story of why. Upon inspection of them they are a bit… dirty? No that’s definitely dried blood, oh well… He was aware of the price he'd pay, but it was worth it. That low gruff tone bellows out, "Hello? I've received word I was being summoned here." but somehow sounded older… Even more-so tired.

Emilia returned a call from where she lay on the floor, "Door is open.." As she spoke the door to the home slowly swung itself open to allow Irenic in. Casting a glance up from the floor Em stared beyond the open door toward the battered winged man. Brow raised Em spoke, "Looks like Feather Stick got the short end of the stick. What happened to you? You should let me fix you up. Adventurers Guild papers can wait, unless you'd fancy joining? Then you can just sign your name."

Irenic chuckled softly, but was caught short by a sharp pain caused by some lovely bruising on his ribs and this caused a wince to wrinkle his sunken face. "It was something I earned." His words are subordinate, but the way he says them so casually make it sound like he might have had fun. "And no fixing up… That’s part of the puni-" He chose his words a little more carefully this time as his multi-hued eyes catch sight of the boy, "Part of the reward for showing a friend a good time." He was referring to the ball the witch's threw a while back in which he took Valrae to. "Well… Would you look at this." He motions to the boy while gently stepping in, "You definitely look better without all that blood on you scamp." His smirk was charming and something automatic takes over as he lowered himself down on his knee to bring him to the boy's level. "What's your name?"

Emilia patted the leg of the lad as Irenic came into the home. With the nudging he slid off the woman's back and sat the brush down. Staring up at Irenic the lad smiled some, "Pete! Eemee here calls me Quizical because I ask so many questions. I kind of like that name. Nice to meet you Feather Stick." Pete would answer as he held out a hand for greet Irenic.

Irenic somehow seemed like a different person entirely, his grin soft and his gaze kind, unlike the sarcastic arse he usually is, "Quizical it is then. Merry meet." He gently grabbed the boy by the inside of his forearm and naturally the boy's own hand would follow suit. "Nothing wrong with asking questions… Speaking of… What were you doing so far from the Orphanage Quizy?" His voice was stern, like a father, but somehow still a bit softer and a layer of concern in this complicated candy that his Irenic.

Emilia sat up slowly as she watched in silence the interaction between the boy and the avian. A smile playing on her lips watching them. Pete chuckled, "I like to help Eemee with her books though she is not very good with them. She hasn't read the scroll yet. I think she has the wrong books. Eemee promised me adventure! Said when the scroll business was done we could go find some treasure. You should come too!" he exclaimed like most any lad over the idea of a treasure hunt.

Irenic rolled his eyes, "She wouldn't even know where to begin!" A chuckle came again, but this time his pain was brilliantly ignored… His tone became a bit more sullen, "Well… Quizical… I hear you are being missed back at your orphanage… Will you let me take you back?" He allows his first question to be overlooked… "And I promise I will take you once a week to the library… The big one in Cenril… We will fly there and read through all the books to find treasure, but we can't do that on an empty stomach can we?" He shakes his head and glances at Emilia, "Can't go hunting hungry… So we should probably stop off at Miss Mallard's on the way… What do you say?" His attention turned back to Pete's. "Will you come with me so a family will adopt you some day?"

Emilia would have smacked Irenic for his comment about her and the books, but he was hurt. Instead she shook her head at him instead. Pete smiled, "Sure! Eemee has taught me to read some! I like books and food sounds good. Eemee eats just berries. You would think she would turn into one!' he exclaimed before giving a gentle tug on his hand, "Let us go!"

Irenic grinned once more at the kid before standing to bow deeply to Emilia, "Thank you Lady Short-Stack for taking such great care of Lord Quizical." Irenic would glance out the corner of his eye to the boy as if queuing him to thank her for her hospitality, he wouldn't budge until the boy did so and once he did he would note, "Adventurers are always sweet with the ladies." Another low gruff chuckle before the clenching of his jaw at the pain. He gives Emilia a wink, "We'll be seeing you." He would hold the door open for the boy so they may be off to adventures, "And, again… Thank you." His tone was sincere before he added once the boy was outside, "Short-stack."
