RP:Mysterious Medallion

Part of the Hungry Like The Wolf Arc

Part of the Magic, Madness, and Mayhem Arc

Summary: The meeting starts with welcoming Lanara back into the guild. From there, Meri is able to reveal a medallion that she has had in her possession for a couple of months now. The guild leader is intentionally vague on how she found this medallion, and unfortunately any information she has learned about this trinket has also been lacking in details. She has her suspicions as to what it might lead to, but there is know way that she can know with certainty. What she does know...is the medallion is a map. What adventurer would hesitate to attempting to uncover the mysteries of this map? The guild formulates their plan of action.

Adventurer's Guild Meeting Room

Meri :: Letters had gone out to all guild members. The short of this letter is that if anyone wants to join in on a bit of adventuring fun, they should come to the meeting room within the guild’s headquarters and this very date and time. The meeting hall already offered a variety of comfortable seating options, so little effort really needed to be made on Meri’s part in terms of set up. Refreshments were brought in, but as Meri was not entirely sure how many would actually be arriving, she kept the spread down the basics. That is to say, if one was thirsty, there were a few pitchers of ice water available. Why, one of those pitches might even be ‘fancy’ iced water, in the sense that pieces of lemon have been sliced up and placed in the water, giving it a slight flavor. The snacks were equally basic. Care for a banana? Want a muffin? How about a cookie? There should be no question as to where the cookies and muffin came from. Hint: she has red hair and owns a shop in Cenril. As people arrive, Meri greets them with some form of hey or hello. Everyone is told to make themselves comfortable, and that they would be starting in a few minutes. The wait would not be too long, just long enough to allow for everyone to speak their hellos to their other guild members while settling in. Meri saw no reason to rush too quickly at the heart of why they were here today. Especially since Meri knew full well that Lanara would be joining them today, some guild members may be pleasantly surprised with this detail and want to say hi. The only other thing of note is what appears to be a tripod of some sort. It is set up toward the middle of the room only a few feet away from a blank while. Resting on this wooden tripod is a contraption that...essentially is the magical version of a projector. It’s not really that much of a stretch! A variety of magic users have managed to harness the power of light….these devices just don’t come cheap. What magically enchanted item does?

Zahrani makes her way into the meeting room, the feline wearing her more elf-like androgynous face. Her demeanor is serene, if not a bit fatigued. Her fight with an offshoot cult of Vakmatharas using a seal of chronomancy was an adventure all on its own. She removes her winter cloak as she enters, the paladin garbed in a gray sleeveless shirt with turquoise embroidery, a utility belt keeping up her reinforced pants. Her hiking boots make soft clopping sounds on the floor of the Guild meeting room. She offers a hug or a handshake to whoever she meets along the way, reading their faces before heading over to pour herself a glass of water. She recognizes some of the pastries and breads from Khitti's shop, the panther grinning upon seeing a couple loaves of Atakan's signature sourdough bread had made the journey as well. She cuts up a slice and has it with butter; she's not a fan of sweets, but good bread is always a treat for her.

Lanara inhales the brisk air, delighted to be able to freely wander about the lands, without that monitor on her ankle prohibiting her magic. It felt so good to be able to stretch her limbs, clear her mind in the chilled environment, and attend a meeting amongst those she once called family. The witch was hesitant upon receiving the invitation, thinking that Meri was merely jesting, or perhaps she truly thought she would be proven innocent and was welcome to rejoin the Adventurer’s Guild. The jury was still deliberating on her fate, and oddly, the letter held Lana’s attention far more than then the aspect of being burned at the stake. She had been itching to go on a real adventure for months! Either way, the day had arrived and after much mulling over what to say and how to behave, the brunette left the safety of Enchantment wearing a pair of leggings, knee-high boots, and a loose fitting sweater. The tikifhlee at her side is large enough to hold a rider now, though the witch knows Cinder is still growing and doesn’t want to add any pressure to those bones. In time, she would be the finest mount in all of Lithrydel. The cat shrinks to a respectable size, that of a large housecat, and the pair enters the museum and shyly steps into the private headquarters. Dark hues glisten with tears, though none are shed as Lana quickly drops into the seat nearest the door. A few members may ask her to leave… She –was- accused of rather heinous crimes. The sight of Meri is welcome as Lana nervously rises and locks eyes with the leader, “Are you sure about this?” It’s clearly a huge deal to the witch, to be accepted amongst those with similar interests.

Khitti :: As per usual, that nameless tikifhlee of Khitti’s would be the mode of transportation for the redhead. And once she got there? There’d be greetings aplenty before she took a seat, presumably next to Brand at the big oak table, with that tikifhlee settling into her lap. The cat would let out a ‘mrr’ to Cinder, one of two of her cubs, before drifting off to sleep. “I still need a name for you. -And- I still need to get Talyara’s tikifhlee to her too,” Khitti said to the feline. There was always too much to do of late, and the issues with the Shadow Plane had worsened that. She felt like a chicken running with her head cut off most days--don’t tell Dominic that though. He wouldn’t take it too well. All things aside, Khitti’d be ready whenever Meri decided to start the meeting, the templar eventually gathering a glass of water with lemon for herself and some sort of baked good.

Brand comes in alongside Khitti, gives a brief nod of recognition to those he recognizes, and makes a beeline for the snack bar. But it's not the muffins and cookies he seeks -- no, as Khitti's husband (?!?! He's still getting used to that...) he can get those for free whenever he wants. He heads instead for the pitcher of ice water, pours himself a large glass... and dumps it on his head. Ahhh, much better. Riding all the way here from the Cenril dock is sweaty work, no matter what the season. Soon enough, he shakes himself off (in a manner not entirely unlike a dog) and pours himself a second glass, this time for his thirst. Then he settles in a chair next to Khitti, grinning already in response to what will surely be at least an eyeroll from her. That grin says: "Too late. You're stuck with me now."

Aira is the type of person not meant for sitting idly by as others experience life's trials and tribulations. She lead that life for too long already in her upbringing in Rynvale so when she receives the letter from Meri with the promise of some new adventure, the huntress is on board. Her and Kahn had plans to make a trip down from Frostmaw anyway, so there was really no excuse! Aira looks much as she always does in leathers and some furs (although the climate here is much more temperate compared to what she's used to). There doesn't seem to be a bow on her person, but there's most likely a knife or two hidden somewhere under her shirt or down her boot. She seems to be in a good mood, she's not aggressively scowling at least although the wrinkle of her nose upon spying the refreshments did sour her mood a bit (no offense, Khitti, she's just more of a carnivore now!). Still she pours herself a glass of the fancy lemon water and selects a muffin before taking a vacant seat. Nods of greeting are given to anyone who catches her eye but aside from that, the vixen doesn't say much. Her gaze lingers a bit longer on Lanara--she knew the witch had escaped the loony bin as she had been called to testify about her character, but Aira was still suspicious of her innocence even if she had given Lana a glowing review. She doesn't really -care- if the witch had committed those crimes or not, she's in no place to judge. She's just merely...curious. Brand's antics with the dumping of water on his head succeeds in stealing her attention momentarily, before she looks down at her muffin and begins to pick it apart.

Meri :: Everyone may not fully be settled in yet and chatter might still be occurring...or water dumping in Brand's case, but Meri begins to try and steer things in the direction that she felt they needed to go. There was an announcement to be made and her tone was loud and strong enough that hopefully she would claim the attention of the others. A smile as cast toward Lanara before Meri effectively answers her question of 'are you sure' with the following words: “As you can see, Lanara has joined us today. She and I have not had a chance to talk about it privately just yet, but...she is here with us, is she not? So I first want to take this moment to officially welcome Lanara back into the guild. She will be joining us as a Veteran Adventurer...in….” and trails off. She will let Lanara fill in the blanks here. Those blanks being...which division was she joining? Did she fancy herself in the Tactical Division? Within the Intelligence Unit? The second blank that Meri was hoping she would fill in is what “role” did Lanara want within the guild. Meri gives Lanara ample time to speak her decision, even if that is that she needs to think on it! It is once Lanara gives her answer that Meri proceeds. From out of her pocket Meri produces what might at first glance look like a necklace. Meri hold a gold chain within the grasp of her tattooed hand and on this chain is a golden medallion. On one side of this medallion, the head of a wolf has been intricately carved. On the opposite side, there are several very strange carvings on the back. One can only presume that it is an inscription of some sort? Maybe a dedication of some sort? A name? A hint to who the owner might be? It’s not entirely clear. What is clear is whatever these symbols are, they are not runic in nature...and if it is some form of writing? It is very old. The eye of the wolf is the only ‘jewel’ that has been placed on this piece of jewelry...but given how hazy the stone looks it does not really even appear to be a jewel of value. This jewel has been set so that it can be seen on both sides of the medallion. In fact, if someone were to try and look through this eye? I mean...really spend some time looking, they might get the impression that this stone was hazy for a reason. As if the crystal contained some sort of hidden clue. The object is passed around to the others for them to touch and close, starting with Zahrani. Ideally Lanara gets to see it next. And then Khitti. See what we are doing here? “I have had this for a little while now. I just did not want to share it until I had a better idea of what the heck it was.”

Zahrani offers a warm smile to Lanara. The panther had made it a point to offer testimony in favor of the witch. It's good to see her again. After Lana announces her division in the guild, the panther's cyan gaze returns to Meri, watching the psionic produce what appears to be an aged medallion. Upon receiving the necklace, the paladin carefully turns it over in her hands, scanning over the ancient writing on the back. The woman holds the gemstone up, an amber light manifesting in her hand behind the murky stone as a result of her divine aura. She takes a moment to gaze into the illuminated wolf's eye, wondering what they would find. She hears Meri speak once more, before handing the amulet off to Lanara and listening eagerly for what their Leader has learned about it.

Lanara couldn’t eat or drink when her anxiety was spiking to new heights, no matter how delicious those baked goods smelled, so she fumbles with the hem of her sweater and greets all that enter with an uncertain smile. Khitti enters, and immediately Cinder pads over to the other tikifhlee and nuzzles against her side, the mother and kitten sharing a moment before the meeting begins. Meri’s announcement has Lana’s cheeks turning various shades of pink, but she quickly recovers, and slowly stands so that all can see that it’s really here that is here, in the flesh, and accepting the offer of membership into the guild. “Hiya, everyone. Thanks for welcoming me back into the guild… Into the, um, Auxiliary Division?” Her confidence is wavering as she’s trying to remember the main three divisions and she’s been put on the spot, but she’s sure that her choice is the correct one. She’d still get to go on all the adventures, and seeing as her skills were strongest in healing, working with animals, and planning events… Perhaps, she could be of use in one or a combination of those areas where she was most talented! “I’m honored to be accepted amongst you all again, even after all of the things I’ve been wrongfully accused of doing in the past… It means the world to me.” There. She had announced her innocence and hoped they’d all believe that she was a good little witch. Well, as ‘good’ as Lanara could appear to be, as her mischievous side was part of her charm! She senses Aira giving her some serious side-eye, though she chooses to ignore it for the moment. The vixen had spoken on her behalf and she was eternally grateful… Even if Aira would approve more of Lana slaughtering children than actually being innocent. Thankfully, Brand is showering in the fancy lemon water, and the talisman is passed from Zahrani into her grasp, and Lana eyes it for a moment, running her finger over the gem to feel the power emanating from within. The energy coming off the object seems ancient, and Lanara can’t quite put into words the emotions that she’s feeling at first touch, “Where did you find this, Meri?” Turning towards Khitti, the chain is slipped into her waiting palm, before Lana returns her attention to the leader, after returning a warm smile to Zahrani.

Khitti :: Brand wasn’t going to get an eyeroll this time around. He’d get a smirk, a shake of her head, and a very bro-like punch to his shoulder, “I don’t think I could get rid of you at this point even if I tried -really hard-. And besides, I need you around so Dominic can hit you with things and not me.” Cue the innocent smile and batting of eyelashes. Once Meri started things up, and Lanara announced the division she wanted to be in, Khitti would offer a reassuring smile to the witch, knowing that she’d been rather anxious about rejoining both the Adventurer’s Guild and the Devout’s. The medallion would make its way around and Khitti would inspect it carefully once it came to her, crimson brows scrunched together in concentration. “Well, it’s definitely nothing from the Shadow Plane. Nothing I’ve seen anyway,” Khitti said at length, likely to the relief of half the people in the room. She was in Sherlock-mode now--she -needed- to figure this thing out or it’d be the death of her because curiosity and cats and all that. But, she refrained for now, finally commenting on the jewel itself, “Most people like their fancy jewels shiny enough to blind people, to let others know that they have this sort of thing. The fact that this is not is… a bit odd.”

Brand doesn't know what Lanara's been accused of -- and, frankly, doesn't see it as any of his business. All he knows is that, from their limited interactions and from what he's heard from Khitti, Lanara seems a fine enough person to associate with. So he claps at the announcement, maybe gives a thumbs up or some ... welcoming finger guns????? What even...? Well, that's just how Brand rolls. He takes the jewel when it's his turn to ogle it, but he doesn't have anything particularly insightful to say. Just, "Yep. That sure is a not-so-shiny piece of shiny." Thanks, Brand. Great contribution, as usual. Good work. You did it.

Aira does not really have a reaction to Lanara's impromptu induction into the guild, it seemed only natural that the witch would join their ranks once more assuming she had her mind back (or maybe if she didn't, that would certainly -add- adventure to the guild with that namesake). The huntress abandons her muffin when Meri pulls out the chain with a medallion attached to the end. She does her best to catch the carvings but it's no use--she'll have to wait until it's her turn to hold it to get a better look. Once it's in her hands, the vixen studies the back where the inscription is carved, running the calloused pad of her thumb over the engraving trying to decipher whether or not she's seen it before. After another moment of study, Aira shrugs it off as a lost cause and turns her attention to the jewel, giving it the same tender treatment. "It's not anything I recognize," she offers unhelpfully, passing it back to the psion. "It seems really old though. And like...there's more to it then just -this-."

Meri :: Lanara's question would be answered (sort of) in time as Meri expands upon her story, but the witch is right with her senses. It is definitely ancient, but the medallion itself would not whisper any more secrets to her outside of it's age. "So the story so far is basically this....When I first became the guild leader?" Meri makes a vague motion to the space all around and above them, "I obviously decided that I needed to have an understanding of tomes and artifacts we have already collected. When I was flipping through one of the books I came across a passage that caught my attention. There was not much detail to it, so I decided to investigate it more. This passage spoke of an amulet that is meant to be wielded by werewolves...But like I said, the information was vague and I don't really have too much more information. The only thing that I was really able to uncover was that it was last known to have been welded by a werewolf pack that isolated themselves years ago. It was suggested that they traveled to the wilds just beyond Enchantment." Accessible by a jolly little swim through a moat that leads one to a cave full of dragons. Well, presently dragons call these tunnels home. Perhaps they did not then? "So I did a bit of investigating in the area myself." Meri is vague on these details, intentionally, as in the end the way that she ended up coming across this particular medallion involved a job with with the Queen Burn All The Witches. Lanara is here. Whhhy do we need to bring up that detail in this exact moment? It's not like Meri did not do plenty to thwart Josleen's success in their interaction. Anyway! "And I found the object that you are all looking at right now in a werwolf den in those very wilds. Let's not get too excited though, this is not the amulet referenced." As Lanara has probably sensed, this thing does not have any magical properties imbued in it. Of that, I am certain." At this point, Meri will be reclaiming the necklace from the person who it was passed to last, which should be Aira. "What I have determined that it is....!" Now that she has the trinket back in hand, she is moving over to the 'projector' and activating the magic so that light pours out in a focused beam of light. The wolf medallion is positioned so that beam of light passes directly through the hazy crystal eye, and as it does so, it projects an image onto the wall. It's a map! Fancy that. The map that is now being projected onto the wall is definitely of the surrounding lands. And there are two obvious points on this map that seem to stand out. One point is marked in red, this point is highlighted near Cenril...on an island...but that island is clearly very much not Rynvale. Aira can count her blessings with that one. The other point that is marked on this projected map is with hues of green, that dot seems to fall somewhere within the Xalious mountain range? Except....that could be a number of places, as any adept traveler of these lands could easily attest to. These details would have been harder to discern with a naked eye staring through the crystal, but project the image and amplify it to a larger size and everything becomes much more clear.

Zahrani raises a brow at Brand's antics, before her attention is drawn back to the medallion making its way around the room. When she had initially shone her divine aura through it, all she could make out were some squiggly lines. She wouldn't have recognized it as a map of any place. She drinks from her cup of water, listening to Meri's story as well as the observations provided by the other members. After the psion fixtures the medallion to the arcane tripod, the panther's eyes light up, a grin on her face as she realizes what all those squiggly lines were supposed to be. She studies the projection with feline curiosity, taking a seat next to Lana and idly swirling the water in her glass with a big of excitement. Looking back at the tattooed psychic, the paladin asks, "That passage you read..did it tell you what the true amulet does for the wielder?" Her gaze wanders to the red dot off the coast of Cenril. Perhaps some of the Isran Collective's sailors might have knowledge of such an island, even if it were just as a navigational tool for finding their way home.

Lanara blinks as Brand is making finger guns and reiterating what Khitti had just said, and were she not so nervous, she likely would have teased the newlyweds on their matching statements. Their handfasting was beautiful, their union unbreakable, and the reception was… Unforgettable? The witch leans forward in her chair as the chain passes from palm to palm, before being returned to Meri. Everyone seems pretty unsure of the arcane pendants origins, aside from the fact that it has to do with a wolf, isn’t all that valuable, and bears some sort of ancient inscription. Lanara thinks of Scandal in this moment, as he loved researching things, but clearly they couldn’t rely on his expertise anymore as he was deceased. Had Meri just said that she found this object in Enchantment?! Lana had been residing there for the past few months, so she assumes the psion found it before she had returned to the lands. Either way, it’s a good thing that Josleen isn’t mentioned, as mere mention of the Queen put most in a foul mood. Their attention is drawn to the magical projector and as the light reflects off the gem and depicts a map, she excitedly rises to her feet for a better look. The plot was growing thicker, she could sense it, and as Zahrani voices a question, the witch is soon to follow with, “I wonder if the amulet’s purpose shifts… If the wielder is in human or wolf form, or if the state of its wielder doesn’t matter at all!” Narrowing her hues on the Xalious region, Lana nips her lower lip, “It could be anywhere… Can that machine zoom in, so we can get a closer looker?”

Khitti cannot control the Brand. She’s never been able to (this is why she’s had to punch him a couple times). One can only co-exist with the Brand and hope that he’s in a favorable mood and doesn’t tear your face off like a bear or use you as kindling for a bonfire. She also does not mention the fact that Josleen had been a part of Meri’s little adventure to the Enchantment, because Khitti had been made aware of it beforehand and Khitti had not been happy about it. Unfortunately for all, Meri had not slipped up and accidentally stabbed the Queen of Larket with her sword or had a bout of anger and tore her throat out. It was sad times when Khitti found -that- out. Oh well. Anyway. Khitti eyed the projection taking note of the island close to where Khitti and Brand made their home. The one in the Xalious mountain range, however, made a chill run up Khitti’s spine--it was in the vicinity of Raiez’s cave. Well, former cave as that blue dragon was now dead and gone straight to dragon hell. That whole experience, being trapped in the cave with other mage-types had left Khitti permanently rattled when it came to being confined to places. It’d been something that had carried over into her confinement of Frostmaw’s Tavern, as well as Brand’s ship, The Tranquility, when Khitti was heavily pregnant. “I sincerely hope there’s no dragons where we’re going there in Xalious, because I am not doing a repeat of being a cute collectable mage figurine in a glass jar with no way out.” She’s scarred for life. Brand would understand. He was there. “I’m grateful that it’s not anywhere near Venturil though. Because then I’d have to say “Sorry Meri” and actually set that place on fire like I’ve been meaning to for the past two years. That aside… where do we start first?”

Brand steps closer to the map for a better look. It's the cause of some frustration, as he has to grapple with accidentally blocking the projection's light several times before he gets the hang of the physics involved. Once he does, though, his response is immediate: "Selen Island. Not far off the coast of Cenril. Not aware of any value or history to it, though. Don't think anyone lives there. Never seen anyone shipping goods to or from there, at any rate." Whoohoo! Brand can be useful... sometimes. Occasionally. When it happens to fall into one of his few areas of competence.

Aira's vulpine ears flatten as she listens to Meri's tale, captivated by the story as much as she tries to appear bored. The huntress swivels in her chair to watch the psion approach the tripod and affix the medallion in front of the light when voila! there is a map on the wall! How clever! And despite her usual aloof demeanor the quirk of a grin can be seen on her lips as her tail gives a delighted twitch. She has a momentary second of panic when she sees the red mark on an island near Cenril, but she soon realizes that the geography makes it so it's definitely not Rynvale. Like Khitti and Venturil, Aira doesn't go to Rynvale because it brings back a load of awful memories of her abusive upbringing; that, and the last time she was there her mate murdered her brother and former betrothed. Zahrani speaks the question that had been at the tip of her tongue and she watches Meri expectantly. However, when Khitti mentions dragons and Brand stands and begins to block the screen, Aira gives a cursory glance around the room at the other members of the guild. "Speaking of research and dragons, where's that insufferable man who's usually here?" The huntress had not known about Scandal's death so the other members will have to forgive her insensitivity. It was no secret that she loathed the dragon but she would have probably held her tongue for the others' sakes. The mention of Selen Island draws her attention back to the map, though. "My brother and his friends used to talk about that place, I don't recall anything of significance about it though," she adds with a frown.

Meri is far less surprised by all things Brand, she's been hanging around this particular couple long enough that the antics just don't even seem to phase the blonde anymore. It's just part of the norm. A norm she clearly enjoys, for she has claimed them as family so....Meri just goes on like this was nothing...and addresses the questions that are lobbied at her as best as she can. Starting with Aira's, even if it was the last. Meri's eyes go wide at Aira's faux pas. Meri's response is a quick but terse one, which is not a normal tone for her to take toward Aira, "He passed." She is quick to move on to Zahrani's question, trying to cover up the awkwardness by one of those goold old fashioned subject changes. "No, nothing that I have uncovered thus far reveals anything more about this amulet other than it was designed to be wielded by werewolves. Maybe we can learn more through research? But thus far I have learned nothing about what it might actually due. That is half of what has me so curious." The blonde approaches the wall shortly after Brand does and taps the point that is marked in red, the one that rests upon the island that is near Cenril, bathing in the light of the projector as she goes on to explain. "Unfortunately I don't think we can zoom in on this thing-a-ma-jig. If we can...I don't know how. But! I have a feeling that exploring this area and seeing what this marker on the map might reveal to us would probably be the easier of the two points to locate. I think that this is the space that we should target first." Next she taps the green marker on the projected image. "Whereas with this marker...Yes it seems to fall within the Xalious Mountain range, but then we have to wonder...how accurate were they in this map depiction? This mountain range is a much more vast area than that island. It could be that we need to be searching for something on the surface level of the mountain range, or that we need to even consider looking in places such as Craughmoyle. I think finding any sort of answers about this green point will involve a number of scouting missions into the area before we have any real idea as to where this is hinting that we search..." Meri turns back to the group, stepping out of the light's immediate projection to spare her eyes. "So, plan of action. Let's investigate the red marker first and foremost. Brand recognizes it as Selen Island, which means we already have a better understanding of where we are searching...While conducting smaller scouting missions to see if we can not uncover more information about where we might need to search for the green marker that we see on the map?" Everything about this medallion that they are currently discussing has had a point or a meaning, whoever designed it was very intentional. From the symbols on the map to the colors used as marker points. The red meant to symbolize the moon Arh'Nuk and the green a nod to Vaalane. With time and research, hopefully our adventurer's will puzzle out this mystery. "If this is agreeable to everyone, then...break?"

Zahrani stands up to grab more water, glancing at Aira with a neutral gaze when she asks where Scandal had gone to. A sigh escapes through the woman's nose when Meri answers, before topping off her water goblet and turning back to the group, "If we're leaving for the coast of Cenril, I'd like to let the Isran Collective know where we're going. They have their own boats, and since we're not entirely certain what we might run into on Selen Island, it would be helpful to have someone on the mainland know to come looking for us, in case we don't make contact within a specified time frame." A good safety measure, to be sure. The felines of her colony are good at taking care of each other, and the fisher cats are highly competent at sea.

Lanara quickly retrieves Cinder, as the tikifhlee excitedly pounces on one of the beams of light, as Brand fuddles with the projector to take a closer look. “No, no, no, Cinder! We can’t play with the lights, at least not right now. This is top secret Adventurers’ Guild business!” The dark purple feline purrs in Lana’s arms, though her gray eyes remain trained to the bouncing light, until it’s still once more and the only male in the room speaks. “Selen Island? I’ve never heard of it… But, it sounds pretty isolated. Or… It’s inhabited by those that don’t wish to be found.” Returning to her seat, Lana glances at the redhead, wondering what she meant by being trapped in a jar, involving dragons. She’d have to ask Khitti more about that, perhaps in the –very- near future, as they had some things that needed to be discussed. It’s then that Aira addresses the room, and Lana hugs Cinder closer, her vision clouded behind a veil of tears, “He’s DEAD! He took his own life because everyone –hated- him and those that did love him weren’t around to stop him from doing something stupid” Of course, her frenemy couldn’t have possibly known that Scandal had committed suicide a few months ago, but the mere mention of her adopted brother still stings. The witch was in and out of her seat quite a bit at this meeting, but this would be the last time she’d rise, as she prepares to leave, “Thank you all for welcoming me back…” Lana locks eyes with Meri, as it was mostly her decision to let her rejoin the guild, “I think that sounds like a wonderful plan… I will be sure to pack some healing supplies, should anyone get injured or grow seasick.” A tight smile is fixed on her fair face as she avoids looking at Aira and heads towards the door, though before she exits, she bends down to whisper in Khitti’s ear, “Meet me tomorrow night, around this time, at the bakery. I –need- to talk to you, it’s very important. Please, be there.”

Khitti shot Aira a look of disdain as the vixen brought up Scandal in a rather unpleasant way. She wasn’t going to say anything, allowing Meri to do so, but that look of Khitti’s was definitely the type to say ‘do not continue down that path or you might get smacked’. Or worse. I don’t know. Khitti’s feistier than usual lately. Lanara’s outburst prompted a frown from the redhead--she of course counts herself as one of those people that wasn’t there to help him--and her attention is soon shifted to Meri. “Sounds like a plan. You know where to find us, when you’re ready for the scouting to start.” Lanara whispered to Khitti, to which Khitti would give her a blink, then shook her head at the witch and responded in the same hushed tones, “I’ve got a gig tomorrow at the theatre. You could come there instead? See the band? It’d give you a chance to unwind a little if you want. Of course I’d have them let you in for free.” The redhead eyed Brand then finally. She was proud of him for being able to contribute something besides brute force and magic to the situation, but that frown of hers was still somewhat present, hiding that feeling, “I think it’s time to go home. There’s a bottle of whiskey that needs tending to.”

Brand finger-guns at Khitti this time. (Oh dear.) "Good idea. Yes." He's just going to kind of ... pretend to ignore the whole outburst about Scandal, because he has no idea what's going on and doesn't want to make the situation any more tense than it already appears to be. In fact, if he can make his exit right about now... that's even better. Can't add to the awkward if you're not present! He'll sidle out with Khitti, just as soon as he can escape attention for long enough to avoid the expected well-wishes and goodbyes.

Aira arches her brow at Meri's tone of voice when her question is answered first, but her response explains the reason for it. The huntress shoots an awkward glance Lanara's way as she knew the pair had been close and she anxiously clears her throat. "Er, sorry to hear--" Lanara's snap has her ears flattening atop her head and Aira has to bite the inside of her cheek to refrain from sending some biting words back her way. She respected Meri and didn't wish to cause a rift with the potentially unstable witch in their first meeting about this new adventure. The huntress crosses her arms over her chest and glares back at the map, refusing to meet anyones eyes. "Good. Break," she agrees with Meri, scooping up her uneaten muffin and tossing it in the bin rather aggressively before moving towards the exit. "I'll be sure to let Kahn know," she alerts the remaining members. "He is an island cat and familiar with boats. I trust -him- to find us should something go amiss." Clearly, the vixen is a bit bristly this evening, it's probably not personal to anyone in the room specifically, but she doesn't exactly appreciate these glares that she's receiving from people she counted as friends. Without so much as a goodbye, Aira leaves the room.

Meri :: They had almost made it through the entire discussion without any drama! Almost. Meri can't exactly blame Lanara for her reaction to Aira's words, and thus the guild leader does absolutely nothing to intervene. She just nods an understanding nod to Zahrani, for the blonde had no issue with Zahrani letting her family know of these events. Heck, she trusted Zahrani's judgement enough that any member of her family would be welcomed on any of their expedition. Kahn is welcome too for that matter! Maybe one day they would sit down and speak about this and Meri could make this point clear, but for now tension is high in the room...and so Meri is just going to clean up while everyone disperses. ooc: Thanks for coming to RP guys! I will upload this ASAP!
