Part of the Chasing Lightning Arc

Hanging Corpse Tavern

Genoczar enters the tavern, seemingly out of breath due to numerous encounters with enemies in this unknown place. Sitting at a table adjacent to her, he acknowledges Satoshi by smiling and extending an introduction. "Hello there. They call me Genoczar. I am not from this land. This is a new environment, and where I come from, people do not offer assistance as willingly as you did. In this regard, I wanted to formally introduce myself and thank you from the bottom of my heart. Or lack there of rather..." chuckling, he turns to the barkeep and orders a drink.

Satoshi, drawn from silent comtemplations, blinks owlishly at the stranger addressing her before offering a faint, lopsided smile of fangs. The brief flicker of confusion that enters amber-flecked eyes hints at the kit not understanding what he means, but nonetheless she lifts her glass in acknowledgement, bringing it to her lips a moment later to sip at the blood wine within. Once the drink is returned to the tabletop, the little magus adjusts her seat so that she can better look at the fellow, eyes swift to take in details while nose, ears, and whiskers produce small twitches in search of further information, even as she responds. "New to the lands in general? Or Vailkrin specifically, monsieur~?" Satoshi asks, voice a peculiar mixture of melody and whisper, hints of something ethereal and glacial detectable in undertones.

Genoczar finishes his beverage with haste in an attempt to reconvey his previous statement. Half-smiling, he proceeds to further endulge the kit. "I apologize for any vague misconceptions formed. Its been a long day..." Pausing briefly enough to nod at the barkeep, signaling for another drink, he then continues with a befuddled aura about him. "I am new to these lands, and the customs therein. I have been sent here by a vampiric allegiance known as the De'lith to catalog any useful encounters in this unknown land. Our convenant is suffering due to lack of...possibilities of expanse if you will." He returns to his fresh beverage, not wanting to release unnecessary information to his new aquaintance.

Satoshi's vulpine ears perk forward involuntarily, attention captured by the man's words. "Covenant? You're of a vampiric family, then? He's in the right place, esn't he, Steadman~?" A cheeky grin is flashed at the one-eyed barkeep then, earning a sour grumble from the man in response--a reaction that just seems to further amuse Satoshi. Chuckling, she takes another sip of her wine before returning her attention to Genoczar. The expression she offers is plainly curious, with hints of natural caution and a slight eagerness that's made evident by the animated swaying of her four tails. "Tell me about your covenant, hmm? It's not often I meet vampires from outside the City of the Dead, really."

Genoczar , now seemingly animated by blood wine gives a slight grin to the barkeep known as Steadman. "I knew I felt comfortable here. Nice eyepatch by the way..." The barkeep ceases the action of cleaning one of the vampires previously discarded glasses only to give him a look of foreboding disgust. Not phased by this at all, Genoczar returns to Satoshi with amicable tidings. "Indeed. The Di'leth. A covenant formed many eons ago by the elders of my elders. We are a warrior race, but we have recently turned our efforts to gathering intelligence regarding lands beyond our own borders." Out of the corner of his eye, the vampiric priest notices that Steadman has returned to his...barkeepery (?) and a subliminal sigh of release escapes his pale lips. "I am a priest serving the covenant leader known as Vasagi the Slash. He is ruthless as he is wise, and he has requested that I embark on a mission to gather aforementioned information. This land, Hollow I hear it referred to...has it been here long?"

Kasyr , trenchcoat and all, takes this moment to meander into the tavern. That being said, the Vampiric Revenant looks exceptionally distracted at the current moment, given he's currently jabbing a mithril scalpel into a particularily unwholesome aberration that's squirming in his grasp. And aberration is, in fact, the key term here- given that the entity currently being subjected to the Kensais murderous ministrations is an unwholesome tangle of limbs, chitin, flesh and fur- all clustered up into a clump that's relatively akin to the size of a common housecat.

Satoshi said to Genoczar, "Hollow to most, Lithrydel formally, has been here... a very long time. It has been home to a variety of ancient races, some of which still roam about today. And some of which continue to gripe and moan about their 'good old da-" What further the kit might have intended to say is brough to a halt, distracted as she is by the tavern's newest arrival, and his plaything. Ears press back and eyes narrow while Satoshi lifts the glass to her lips again. Before drinking, she murmurs to the Revenant, "Is -that- what's kept you from coming back home lately, then? Should I be insulted or jealous? I'm much cuter than it, y'know~."

Genoczar tilts his head in slight amusment, picking up the vibe that his aquaintance has business with the taverns newcomer. Noticing the squirming mass in his hands, and hearing the retort from Satoshi, he is reminded of his own love in his faraway land. Not allowing nostalgia to divert him from his primary purpose, he orders yet another drink.

Kasyr , try as he might, cannot ignore the fact that the monstrosity in his hands is currently making up for the fact that it's death is soundless...by spewing a rancid black ichor all over his hands, and onto the floor. Still, that eldritch 'postule' is no longer twitching it's malformed appendages any longer- which prompts the Kensai to begin making his way over towards the fire place. "No. The homicidal undead fellow that popped out the sky and murdered 5 people es what's keeping me here, alongside the vanishing act he pulled right after. This," A moment is taken to gesture towards the formerly squiggly monstrosity, "Is just part of the rising pest problem in the city." And it's on that note that the creature is carelessly tossed into the fireplace.

Genoczar looks up, eyes aflicker at the news of a murderous, seemingly undead creature. Not wanting to intrude on the current conversation, he ignores the stench of freshly burnt creature, and listens intently.

Satoshi might not need to breathe, but she still finds her senses objecting to the foul, oily black smoke pluming from the fireplace, a thick mist that gives off a stomach-churning stink not unlike an undead troll cursed to shovel dragon waste. And yes, Satoshi has had the misfortune of meeting such a smell before. She doesn't like to talk about it. Nor is she particularly pleased with being reminded of it now, hence her hurriedly burying her sensitive nose in the thick folds of her coat sleeve. "Hellfire!" the kit's protests are a tad muffled, and slightly buried beneath the sound of her chair scrapping back across the floorboards in Genoczar's direction, "Can we -not- throw unknown creatures into the fire? Haven't we met enough flammable or otherwise volatile beasties to know better?" Steadman, oddly enough, seems to be unbothered. Or is just damn skilled at reserving his expressions of disgust for patrons--one such withering look given to Kasyr now.

Kasyr has been dealing with variants of that fetid smell all day- so it's not entirely surprising that he's some acclimated to the stench. That, in conjunction with his politics-honed ability to keep relatively reserved expressions, means that his reaction is a simple crinking of his nose- and a very purposeful bit of marching -away- from the fireplace and over towards the bar. Once there, he simply filches a rag from behind the counter, and starts to clean the excess ichor from off his arms, "Well. I was sort of curious if it was going to blow up, or not. Et it's not like this area isn't warded against -exactly- that kind of damage..." A pause, and then the Kensai casually adds, "So how have you been?"

Satoshi regards the fireplace a few moments longer while muttering inaudibly to herself. The words are, in fact, a small incantation designed to manipulate the frosty mists that are perpetually gathered her, drawing a portion of them toward her face to serve as a makeshift gossamer mask. Whiskers glistening from their dew-y new additions, and smell warded off, the kit shifts in her chair to glance from Kasyr to Genoczar, a smirk playing across her face. "Was in the process of meeting a member of a foreign covenant actually," the magus declares with a nod to the priest, "interesting sort, asofar. Also, this." Although the gesture likely will mean nothing to Genoczar, the foxkin slowly--almost painfully so--lifts her right arm and stretches out her gloved hand to the kensai.

Genoczar inhales deeply as the stench of previously insufflated dead beastie slowly exits the tavern. Eyes still watering from the previous combustion, he amicably turns to the one known as Kasyr. Half-smiling, revealing pearl white fangs, he endulges this mysterious fellow in humorous, slightly inebreiated bantor, "Next time light a candle, eh?" The vampiric priest then stands, and stretching, proceeds toward the exit to get some fresh air.

Genoczar turns to Satoshi before exiting. "If you wish to continue our exchange, I will return momentarily. Please excuse me, milady." Revealing a previously concealed cigarette, he steps just outside, immolating the cigarette as if with his mind.

Kasyr finishes wiping off the last bits of otherwordly pest gunk off his hands, if only so that he can draw his scarf up over his face -without- subjecting it to whatever that abominable substance is. It's only than that sidles in closer towards Satoshi, to gently take her hand within his own, "Well. That es an interesting development, cherie." A pause, and the Kensai quietly adds, "Et I do apologize for intruding upon your diplomatic doings. I was..distracted."

Satoshi doesn't risk offering the kensai's hand a squeeze, because while she doesn't fear hurting him, she still doesn't fully trust her revitalized limb's movement abilities. Not yet. She doesn't need to make blunders here and now, when it's trial enough just keeping said hand in Kasyr's. There's time enough to relearn all that later. For now, she flashes the revenant a smirk and lifts her glass to the departing Genoczar. "Actually, that was an invitation to make them your diplomatic doings too. Vailkrin and its vampires are your specialty. Mine is much farther north."

Kasyr gives her a bemused look, before shrugging, "Technically, my speciality is murdering things, and dealing with paperwork. While I can do diplomacy- that es -supposed- to fall under someone elses Jurisdiction. Alas, seeing as they are not present- I suppose rapidly re-appointing a temporary Minister of Foreign affairs and letting her handle this matter would be a feasible option." Kasyr has a smirk of his own, at this point.

Satoshi twitches. Just a little. And promptly reaches for her drink again. "Shoving you off a cliff is another feasible option."

Genoczar returns, making a somewhat exaggerated hop over the unknown contaminant that now riddles the already drab condition of the tavern floor. He returns to his table enlightened by the fact that he was surrounded by another diplomatic association. Looking at the union of his aquaintance and her amusingly abrupt companion, he speaks. "Ah, the air here is much cleaner than that of Di'leth." Pausing only to mutter to himself, "Well...perhaps outside of these taverns." He returns to further endulge his surroundings. "Forgive me for the interruption, but I overheard that Kasyr, was it?" Acknowledging the Kensai standing before him..."Has political jurisdiction in this realm...?"

Kasyr just grins a little broader at Satoshi's response. A grin which is promptly directed towards Genoczar, along with an outstretched hand, "Kasyr Azakhaer, I suppose I would be ...King of Vampires- as it were? And one of the two individuals governing the City of the Dead. My esteemed Colleague et leader of the undead denizens of this city, the Dark Man, es not present- so I'm afraid I can't arrange for introductions, just yet."

Satoshi's hand isn't offered with Kasyr's, but she joins in the introductions nonetheless. "And Satoshi Azakhaer, there's no supposing I'm Frostmaw's Queen, it's just plain fact~. That, and I'm his," she nudges Kasyr with her left shoulder lightly, "wife, as part of House Azakhaer. When he's not off stabbing random creatures."

Genoczar now looks the one known as Kasyr up and and down with a certain astonishment. He firmly takes the extended hand that had been offered to him and allows his head a slight incline as he speaks. "Genoczar Vaspus. High priest of Di'leth, sired by the great Vasagi the Slash, and direct council member to the covenants therein." He remembers the look of curiosity issued by Satoshi when he first made this claim and offers, "I am new to this land and here on business. My covenant is suffering from lack of organization and an influx of power not easily dispursed by our small jurisdiction..." he releases the Kensai's hand and offers a slight bow at this juncture. "It is an honor to meet you, sir." Offering a glass of blood wine, he extends the beverage forthwith. "Drink?"

Genoczar then looks at Satoshi, feeling rather unsophisticated in his previous manner of introduction, and offers an earnest bow in her direction, followed by an outstretched hand. "Milady...I feel as though I should formally introduce myself. Forgive any articulate transgressions offered before. I extend the offer of a fresh drink to you as well." Smiling briefly, he turns to the barkeep and nods. "Two more...Steadman was it?"

Satoshi leans forward to offer a stage-whisper to Genoczar, "Don't feel that way. There's a reason I don't parade about with a sign declaring who I am. I prefer real greetings, not formalities and boot-lickings, y'know?" With a wink, she sits back.

Genoczar purchases yet another drink. "And one for me..." Smiling as he relinquishes his beverage from the ever watchful eyes of the barkeep.

Genoczar digresses after finishing his 5th (?) drink. Licking the crimson residue from his lip, he releases a sigh of genuine approval. Smiling at Satoshi, he chuckles, "I think were going to get along just fine."

Kasyr leans up against the bar during these earnest explanations, choosing to simply allow Genoczar to ramble unimpeded. Really, it's only after Satoshi makes her latest comment, that the Kensai quietly adds, "If I was really hung up on formality, I'd probably be holed up in a throne room, with a crown on my head- et not personally dealing with the various elements of the city. That being said- whilst I've had my fill of the various complications that Vailkrin has offered me recently, I am certainly curious as to this ..Covenant, of yours. Es that your terminology for a vampire house? Or es that more of a...allegiance of houses? Moreover, if you're some form of ambassador- I can only imagine that there are some very specific things you're working towards laying out, oui?" It's only at this point that the Kensai takes his drink- the questions he's poised having effectively afforded him enough time to drink without interruption, hopefully.

Satoshi grumbles into her drink, "Some of us have to be holed up in a throne room with a crown on their head, but we still find time to get directly involved with our people." Such as her almost nightly drinking contests with the tavern Frost Giants, or placing bets with them on who would win the latest arena match. Satoshi knows how to bond with a less-than-formal people, the kind that don't care about politics, promises, or alliances, just pure action.

Genoczar joins Kasyr against the bar and, looking around with an ominous figment in his eyes returns the questions with a sense of subliminal haste. "Your assumptions are indeed correct." He brandishes a wand made of pure bone, cleaning a slight residue off of its tip before returning it to its holster. "Well first and foremost, when I speak of my covenant, I refer to the House I directly serve in my land, although certain circumstances allow me to circumvent and analyze doings regarding other houses in the region. Being a noble, or king as you so eliquently put it, I do not expect you to burden yourself with the direct business of our lands. However the goal is..." He pauses to offer a slight grin. "Assimilation..." The vampire acknowledges that he needs yet another drink as he lightly pounds his fist upon the bar.

Kasyr snickers slightly as Satoshi laments having to be 'Queenly' at time. Beyond that, the Kensai simply listens attentively to Genoczars words, casually swigging at the bottle the whole while. It's only when the priest has finished speaking, that the kensai feels the need to begin speaking anew, "I will confess, I'm not particularily -familiar- with your lands, and have had my hands full with matters Pertaining to both the city-state of Vailkrin, et Lithrydel as a whole. Still, that es not to say that I'm not keen to broaden my horizons on these matters. For instance- I'm quite curious to find out what you mean by 'assimilation'. That statement could be interpreted in many different ways."

Satoshi simply drinks and listens. And watches. There's so much one can learn by merely observing, if they know how to do it right. Learning, above all else, is the foxkin's specialty.

Genoczar nods in an understandable fashion as he looks ethereally through his now empty glass and exclaims. "I am visiting this land to investigate any tentatively beneficial alliances for the good of Di'leth." He pauses, choosing his next words carefully. "Our current Lord is a power hungry bastard who relys only on violence and is directly responsible for exhibiting such on those who serve him, aswell as the sirelings who have the misfortune of being born into such a meaningless dictorial state." He breathes deeply as he grasps the scar of a once deep wound along his pale chest. "I was initially sent here to find those of no current allegiance, humans in particular, and bring them to the feet of Count Vasagi to do with them as he will..." He then grins yet again, "But my own convictions prevent me from doing so as my mother was human before he killed her. I am here to gather intelligence in regards to one day overthrowing this tyrannical disgrace of a vampire..." Genoczar pauses, his resolve strong. "So that we may restore order and glory to our lands." He looks into the eyes of the Kensai and adds, "I apologize for the overwhelming backstory but I didn't want any misunderstanding regarding my purpose here."

Kasyr perks up over the course of Genoczars tail, a look of interest creeping across his features with each new detail. "Ah, so it would be fair to say that while you serve as a ..harbinger to your lord, you also manage to serve your own interests. Which es curious since they are in conflict with each other. That sort of..dichotomy would indicate that you have been a vampire for some time, non?" That said, the Revenant casually draws his hands up behind his head, "Either way, I am certainly appreciative of the elaboration, as it pre-emptively avoided the sort of..unpleasentries that a word like assimilation can incite when it comes to politics. And moreover, grateful to learn of ..political practices of my neighbours. So grateful, en fait, that I will be blunt- What es it that you are currently seeking, in this very moment? If it es news of individuals who would oppose such an individual, there es no shortage of them in these lands, if you know where to look. That being said, you came -here-. Thus, I would wager that you are seeking something far more specific..." The Kensai trails off, eyes fixedly observing Genoczar. At this point, the Revenant was more or less trying to gauge whether this was some elaborate ploy- or whether Genoczar is telling the truth. An endeavour that is somewhat aided by the fact that the Kensai has a certain degree of empathic ability. Enough so, that he'd be able to pick up on the sort of ambient feelings that lying can provoke in an individual, if they have cause to worry.

Satoshi is no empath, but where Kasyr is capable to monitoring emotions for his various purposes, the kit has her vulpine senses. Body language is an underrated language, instinct forgotten by those that deem themselves 'too civilized', accumulated experience that's enabled survival, and good old fashioned keen noses, coupled with tension-sensitive whiskers, makes this foxkin at least decently equipped in gauging a person. Thus, Satoshi has the tools needed to make her love of people-watching more than just an idle hobby. With these, every conversation becomes tenfold more interesting. And so, on she drinks, and on she watches, curious where this conversation is going.

Genoczar acknowledges the Kensai in a firm tone, so as not to relay the verberations of an alterior motive. "You are justified in your questioning of my notions." The vampire says, "I have indeed been one with the vampiric hierarchy for hundreds of years. I was initially a mediator between covenants before joining the dark priesthood." The vampire looks earnestly at Kasyr and Satoshi, a look of genuine affirmation emblazoned across his young face. "But I digress, while I have learned much in the way of various magics, I simply am not yet strong enough to accomplish my aforementioned goal. I am here to assimilate with a worthy clan in hopes of discovering means to uncover a viable way to defeat a 6000 year old elder vampire." He shakes his head affirmitavely. "But alas, who am I to impose such a request on one as involved as you?" He fastens a strap on his breast plate that had recently become lose. "Nevertheless, I appreciate you listening to my position. Exchanging words with you has strengthened my resolve in this matter. "

Genoczar then turns to Satoshi, a look of genuine approval adorned on his young vampiric visage. "I apologize for the exclusion of our previous conversation." He nods, "But I did want to thank you for obliging me in conversation. I must be departing soon, for the sun is a cruel mistress...though I do hope we can speak again soon?" He nods to both aquaintances as he proceeds to draw a conclusion to this encounter.

Satoshi exchanges a knowing look with Kasyr.

Satoshi follows the look with a smile and salute to Genoczar. "I'm glad I obliged, it's been a pleasure, and informative. I look forward to crossing paths with you again~."

Satoshi is pretty sure Genoczar is going to like Vailkrin then, it's the only place in Hollow that's eternally night~.

Kasyr returns the glance, albeit with a far too predatoral grin plastered across his face. Really, it's the sort of look that is reminiscent of what it would look like if a shark could smirk- and it's that expression that is leveled at Genoczar, "There is -quite- a bit of information on our kind collected in the Black Library, which es Vailkrins repository for knowledge. They are somewhat...heavily monitored these days, given that the Institute of the Black Library es centered there- but that simply means you'll probably just be limited to reading the material while on the premises. Whatever the case, it would be a worthwhile investment of your time. Beyond that, the only possible help I could prove you, is to go et recruit some zealous (but not entirely competant) individuals, et task them with achieving what your master desired. With any luck, they'll fail so spectacularily, they'll garner the attention of people willing to combat your lord." A pause, and the Revenant quietly adds, "If you have any further questions, while your within the city, do feel free to direct them to my temporary office. I have a feeling that you'd be potentially interested in the vampire Coven that exists within this city."

Genoczar stands, satisfied with this current exchange. "I appreciate the information. I'm beginning to like this place. I will sincerely pursue your suggestions. My allegiance is, and always has been to progress. So the Library you speak of will be a useful resource." He then smirks, "As far as recruits are concerned...I must gather more information about the cultural conventions of this land, and how they work." He proceeds to the door slightly bowing to his new aquaintances. "I'll be in touch..." with that, the vampire dissipates into the night.
