Hanging Corpse Tavern

Svilfon is riding through the perpetual darkness of Vailkrin's eternal night on the back of Trebel, the Northern Chime Angha. Loaned to him as a means of transport by Satoshi while the wizard's goat is missing, and already a good friend of Svilfon, the two have been enjoying stirring up all kinds of trouble... taunting then fleeing dragons, dropping illusionary fireballs on the undead to cause them to panic, and generally behaving like children... the wizard would swear the fault was Trebel's... and Trebel would probably accept the blame. Huge he is, almost the size of a house, but equally is he childish. Nevertheless, when Svilfon decided he wanted a drink in the Hanging Corpse Tavern, a place Trebel cannot fit in, the angha responded by flying rather close to it, before twisting upside down. Within the building they would hear a resounding 'thud' followed by a chiming laughter filled with malice-free mirth. Alahir will remain with Trebel, but the wizard, now lying like a pancake on the roof of the building, cannot help but grunt out an obscenity at Trebel as he flies back high into the darkness of the sky. He should have expected as much. Standing, he brushes himself off, before dropping down from the side of the building, langing in an inglorious heap before he pulls himself together, adjusts his hat, and enters into the bar. Not waiting to be served by the one eyed Steadmen, the wizard simply wanders behind the bar and fills his own glass. He drinks for free here... he always has... and though he is scowled at, he's not stopped.

Daisy isn't sitting at the bar. She isn't at a booth or a table. She isn't by the fireplace or the door. She isn't having a drink or a meal or even a barroom brawl. Hey, don't laugh! The kitten has totally gotten into fights at a bar before. That's right. Fights. Plural. So she likes to travel with pirates. Yeah? It happens. You know what else happens? Mouthy-handsy-rude pirates thinking they can just take whatever they want like some sort of honeybadger. Well Daisy doesn't care either! She just smiles and blows a fungus in your general direction and suddenly bits of a man behind his lewd behavior have been eaten away. Daisy can't throw a punch for anything. Hell, I don't even think kitten paws can make a fist. Hm. Maybe. Where were we? Right! Everywhere she isn't. Where is she? Desperately trying to keep her skirt from showing the entire tavern her bits! Mamoru looks up at his ward, ready to catch her should that damn tail decide to let go of the stuffed dandy. Poor kitten is hanging upside down at the mercy of this rogue tail. There's a scowl up at her behind. "I'll find Kuzial. I swear it!" Tail threats.

Svilfon is just finishing pouring himself a rather large glass filled with whatever devilish alcohols Steadmen adores, when he hears a voice altogether familiar, yet seeming rather angry. At a drow, no less. Not that the wizard's surprised, of course, he's just, by the twists and turns of fate itself, never met this particular drow. Regardless, his gaze wanders first to Mamoru, who he flashes a gap-toothed grin at, before finding Daisy... hanging by her tail... from a stuffed Dandy... trying to retain some semblance of her dignity. This is altogether too much for the recently splattered wizard who erupts into a laughter which flows through the tavern, filled to its brim with almost carefree joy. "Druids..." He shakes his head, before wandering over; not close enough to help, though he does pause to give Mamoru a brief rub on his head, but close enough to get a good look - a good chaste look, I might also add! "You really shouldn't be monkeying around... you'll drive poor Steadmen bananas." He grins.

Mamoru does like a good pet on the head. Wizard pettings are especially nice cause they have magical fingers. Gives the couatl all kinds of good feels. But brief rubs are too brief and brief rubs displease Mamoru! Especially when those rubs are abandoned for giving upside down kittens attention. Pressing against Svilfon's leg, he butts the top of his head into the wizard's hand some more. There is a little flutter of his tiny wings, but not enough to get him off the ground. Daisy, on the other hand, is quite embarrassed. Doesn't matter if strangers see her in this sort of position. She's not likely to see them again. But this is her friend! She'd blush if it weren't for the fur on her cheeks. "Can you help me?" Pleading eyes plead while little feet try to dangle in the least exposing manner.

Svilfon adheres to the wants of Mamoru - all these couatl children are the same in one aspect more than any other, a trait notable too with their father: They are gluttons for attention. And wizards, formidable as they may be against most, are weaker than a two day old lamb against this particular onslought. So without taking his gaze from Daisy, the wizard bends down and pets the couatl, alternating between rubbing his head and stroking the scales down his front. "What do you think, Mamoru? Should I help her..?" He grins at the couatl, and without awaiting a reply, moves a step or two closer, before bending a shade at the knees, crooking his arm behind Daisy's neck, before standing again so no longer is she upside down, instead held half by the wizard's hand, which shifts to behind her back, and half by the tail clinging to the dandy-made-furniture. "You might have to let go, though I am sure even along the swan's path Cornelius enjoys the attention..." He grins at that, knowing his words would be true.

Mamoru thinks the kitten is perfectly safe hanging from that coatrack. He can see her and any dangerous things coming to get her and he knows just where she is. Flitty kitten likes to just run all over the place, prancing here and there. Makes it difficult for a guardian to guard! No, he is just fine with her being up there. Especially since now he gets belly pets! Belly pets that make a fat couatl purr with happy. As soon as the wizard has uprighted Daisy, both furry little arms wrap around his neck. "Oh thank you so much." Little legs follow suit around his waist and Svilfon gets the benefit of a full-body kitten hug. She nuzzles his cheek and purrs and who wouldn't like kitten and couatl cuddles all at the same time? "You saved me." Because heights of that magnitude are scary like woah and what happens if she doesn't land on her feet? All of this hugging makes for a jealous tail. Tails that are not ready to let go of the coat rack formerly known as Cornelius, but don't want to be left out either. Dragging the dandy with, that tail pulls in close to the hugging trio, wrapping around them and now making it a cuddling quintet.

Svilfon is caught briefly in a kitten, coatrack, couatl cuddle! Not that it's a trap he'd seek to escape... well... maybe the coatrack part. Nevertheless, he flashes a crooked, gap-toothed grin, even as he speaks again, "I dropped you from a cloud... I think you'd be fine from a Cornelius, lady druid. Though, that particular coatrack did have a habit of making the girls swoon all over the place." He gives the stuffed dandy an affectionate pat on the head, which is altogether awkward in their current embrace, before he shifts himself around rather deftly, returning the furniture back where it was, gently prying himself from the petting of Mamoru, before he stands only with a druid clinging to him, and a tail clinging behind her to the coatrack. "We do not want Steadmen to go ape over this, Daisy druid." He can't help but grin at that, flashing gaps and fangs in equal measure. "Pesky tails can indeed be pesky." The slight disturbance in the back of the wizard's robes may betray his own singed tail hidden there, seeming rather indignant at the implied insult. But regardless, he carries on, "As fine as it is no longer being a stump... perhaps some control would not go amiss." He grins again at that, the look filled with his typical jovial enjoyment of any situation which is far from the mundane.

Daisy presses her forehead to Svilfon's, staring in his eyes with all the seriousness a druid with a monkey tail can muster. "You kept me safe. You always keep me safe." Even now when faced with the perilous dangers of heights of coat rack magnitude, he saves her. Were he not married, she would swoon accordingly. It should also be noted his monkey puns are not going without note. His teases are given a pass because they =are= funny and he is kind enough to save her. She looks back at her posterior end and that tail poking out of it. There is a scowl and a little bit of a fffft noise comes out of her. "I can't control it. I've tried and tried and it hates me." She mutters something about never helping necromancers with their magics before throwing herself back at Svilfon with a distraught sigh. "I just wish it would go away!" And what do you know? It does. Sort of. There is a single pop that sounds like a cork being removed from a wine bottle and the tail detaches itself from the kitten only to wrap around the dandy like a feathered boa. Only with fur and no feathers.

Svilfon responds to her first words with simple ones of his own. "I'm a wizard." That explains it all to his eyes; never one to demand a certain path be walked, but always there to aid those who decide their own fates. It's what he does. He falls into silence as she mutters about necromancers and fffffs at the questionable gift of a monkey-tail that was given, before he hears her distraught sigh. He opens his mouth to speak... then pop!- the tails falls off the druid and finds home on the dandy. That was new. He moves half a step back and eyes the tail, as if it's going to decide to wrap itself around him rather than Cornelius, before he shakes his head. "Well... I... ahh..." Not often is he lost for words, but when a kitten wishes her tail would fall off and it does... that isn't exactly something one sees every day. "Yay?" He shifts his pale gaze between the stump of her tail and the coatrack, entirely at a loss as to what to do next.

Daisy blinks several times. What just happened? Wishes don't just come true like that. "Did you...?" One look at the wizard's face and she knows it wasn't his doing. Slowly, carefully, without digging her claws into her friend, she climbs down his body to a firm stand on the floor. "It just." Don't try to explain it, kitten. Things happen for no reason all the time. She finally accepts the happenings and grins at Svilfon. Now there is how she should look! Smiling and happy and bouncy again. She takes the wizard by both hands and tugs. "We should dance to celebrate!" It has been some time since their last dance.

Svilfon would usually have aided Daisy in climbing down, but he is still a little shocked at what just happened. Wizards don't grant wishes... and Vailkrin's motto has never been, 'Where Dreams Come True'. In fact, Svil's half sure this place is the reason people have nightmares. But as Daisy accepts it, so too does he. He's seen some crazy things during his life, what is one more? So he shrugs with a grin, before letting Daisy tug him towards the center of the tavern. He flashes a look over his shoulder at Steadmen, “Some music?” He has to duck the glass the barkeep throws at him, and even as he stands again he's snickering – he had expected as much. Nevertheless! There is music all around to those with the ears to hear it, and ever has this pair been such as those. So with another grin, this one at the couatl, he spins Daisy once, before re-taking the hand he briefly let go. “No finer way, lady druid... Even here, amidst this cadaverous city... and I need all the practice I can get before the ball.” What he doesn't say is before he tries to teach Kasyr to dance... but that, he's sure, will be a lifelong commitment.

Daisy doesn't have to duck that flying glass. Ah the benefits of being vertically challenged. To the dancefloor! Doesn't matter where they are, there's always music when she's with the wizard. Even when they're just cuddling in the snow for a nap. It is softer then. But now? Now is for light and upbeat and happy music! Music that would make a dandy dance to celebrate his new boa while the kitten celebrates her new freedom from monstrosities! "You're already so wonderful." And she spins, moving away and then close again to take his hand in her paw. Round and round the room they go. Even some of the surliest of patrons tap their feet to the music radiating from the pair. Svilfon is released so Mamoru can be spun around a little. She pivots on one foot, turning to face the wizard again and FLOOF! The kitten stumbles forward a step, knocked off balance by the giant fan of blue and green feathers that spreads out behind her. "Oh no..." Her face drops as she reaches back to examine her new tail. Eyes close. "Peacock..." she whispers.

Svilfon flows with a rare grace as he dances with the druid; though he owns two swords, in battle with them he's about as graceful as a sack of potatoes. But he has his moments, and dancing is one of them. Around the room he twists, weaving with languid ease through tables and chairs, even sneaking a sip of a drink off a table as wizard and druid pass it by, before he releases his grip upon her and taps his own foot the rhythm of the patrons, watching as couatl and kitten, an odd pair if ever he's seen one, yet perfectly right together, dance themselves. Until... a fan... of blue and green hued... feathers... looking at him... is he... A shake of his head followed by him wandering over to sniff the glass he drunk out of, yet finding nothing odd in it, he stares again for a long moment before saying, “Though... this monkey business has stopped... I-I-I... ahhh... that is the greatest tail I-feather seen.” Now that one is straining the pun barrel, he's sure... but he is shocked again by the kitty, peacock druid... though, he must admit, it is one fine peacock tail! He even says so, “That is one fine peacock tail!” See?! “It suits you, Daisy.” Well, as much as a fanned out feathered tail can suit anyone... which in her case, is quite a lot.

Daisy spins in circles, trying to get a better look at her new addition. It is so big! And bright! And everything a kitten trying not to be noticed all the time doesn't want sticking out of her backside! She gives it a shake and that makes the thing only stand out in a more bold fashion. "Damnit..." Such vulgarity, kitten! And in front of the children too. Er. Couatl. Yes. Poor Mamoru was so proud of his little rainbow wings and now his ward goes and grows such fine plumage on her tush. "Are you sure?" She turns with paws clasped at her waist and faces Svilfon with wide, concerned eyes. That tail blinks at him as if daring him to say it is anything but glorious.

Svilfon cannot help but chuckle as the druid chases her own tail around a few times, though the sound is far from mocking. It is as it seems to be, simple amusement at the twists and turns of fate. As she plants paws of her waist and stares at him, he flashes her a wide grin, flashing all his seven teeth and the gaps which separate them, crowned of course by his two pearly fangs. "I can honestly say, lady druid, it's the most glorious peacock tail I've ever seen on a feline. And I've been from one end of the world to the other, and most places in between." He tips his hat to her. The fact it's the first peacock tail he's ever seen on a kitty is merely semantics; it's still glorious! "Just... were I you... stay away from the Avian's fallen Empire... those bird-men might get a little too excited." He flashes her a wink and another grin, followed by a quiet snickering at his own words.

Daisy is just a little distraught, but not near as distraught as the distraught that monkey tail made her. The praises make her feel so much better. As for the tail? It is quite satisfied with the compliment and folds down to drag neatly behind the kitten like a train on a wedding gown. "Oh. Well that isn't so bad." She smiles, a little happier for the cute way her new tail flows with her skirt, and moves back over closer to Svilfon. That smile turns down shyly with a little swat of her paw at his arm. "Bird men don't like cats. They'll only think I'm trying to trick them."

Svilfon snickers again as he's swatted, but he doesn't mind – friends of a feather are allowed to do such things. “You're probably right, lady druid!” He grins again, before moving himself to eye the tail as it flows behind her. He very nearly asks to pluck a feather – who knows how useful a magical peacock freather from a druid's tail would be?! But he doesn't – he wouldn't want to spoil its perfection. Instead, he glances over at the couatl, before looking back at Daisy. “You two make a good pair now. Couatl and feathered kitten, the stories they will tell! And oh! The coming ball. Ladies dressed in their finest will be nothing compared to you bringing your finest attatched! All in all, Daisy, a productive day.” He flicks his gaze to the tail still coiled around Cornelius, before settling it back to Daisy. “I would recommend you being more wary around necromancers in the future... but I think that's a lesson that's taught itself already.”

Daisy doesn't plan on doing any kind of magical anything with the necromancers any time soon. She does enjoy their company though. They take her to the neatest of places with the best plants. You should probably go check on those vampire thorn bushes you left at Frysta, kitten. Just to make sure they have enough to eat. Maybe stop by the kracken bloom on your way. Yes, you have things to do. "Thank you," she stands on the very tips of her very toes to press a kiss on her friend's cheek. "Save a spot on your dance card for me, yes?" There are even little hearts bouncing there above her head. She turns and that tail fans out again, floofing behind her. Oh this is going to take some getting used to. "Come on, Mamoru." The couatl is quick to follow his ward out the door, just a little confused about her change of attire. Oh look. There at the wizard's feet. An eye looking up at him. A blue and green feather of an eye.

Svilfon tips his hat to the departing druid. "Always." He also tips his hat to the departing Mamoru, before shifting back to stand beside the bar. This time he orders, rather than just pours, a rather large drink and goes about contemplating what just happened... even if he's sure he'll never understand it... sometimes, that's okay. As he's reflecting, he notices on the ground a feather, resting there, looking at him. With a grin he bends down and plucks it up, before twisting it between his fingers with a devilish look in his pale gaze... he had plans for this already...
