RP:Meeting The Magik Man

From HollowWiki

Summary: Khitti goes to check out the Syndicate of Shadow's headquarters for the first time and happens to find Magik stuffing sushi in his face.

The Syndicate Grand Council Hall, Kelay

Magik was seated at the head of the meeting table. He was in his normal clothes. Simple leather pants, a plain button down black shirt, and fuzzy black slippers. The former vampire rolls up his sleeves, exposing a minimalist phoenix tattoo on his left wrist that extends halfway up his forearm. His tone was only slightly annoyed as he gave direction to two hooded figures, "Just..One of you keep an ear out in Vailkrin and the other keep constant eyes on the tavern. I'll keep hanging out in the general area as much as possible." The two men nod their heads as they turn and make their way to the streets above. The elf watches the two exit then scrambles to his feet. He quickly makes his way to the bar/goodie table off to the side of the room to put together a plate of always fresh sushi.

Khitti was just putting the signet ring into place as Quintessa had instructed when the two strangers filed their way on out of the Syndicate’s headquarters. The redhead blinked a few times as they just stood in front of her, in front of the doorway, in front of where she wanted to go until… she realized -she- needed to be the one to move. Khitti coughed awkwardly and sidestepped away, muttering a faint apology. The ring was replaced on her right index finger--it’d come in hand with her trusty right hooks--and her path continued on in, once the hooded men had finally taken her leave. When she got into the main room? She’d find some guy casually making himself a plate of sushi. Khitti just… kinda stared at him, until she got distracted by the curtains with the insignias on them--thankfully for the clan’s leader, Khitti could sense a feeding frenzy coming on and decided to leave him alone for the moment. She scowled at the Larket one, immediately moved past it and eyed the one that belonged to Vailkrin. Lightly, she ran a hand over the material and continued on, another scowl given to the Venturil curtain.

Magik finally got his plate of sushi ready to go. Spicy tuna, unagi, salmon, dragon rolls, etc. Next came the beer. He goes over his small assortment and decides on a pale ale. It 'should' pair well with the fresh seafood. As he prepares a mug to pour the beer in, he simply says, "I have yet to make it to a Sound of Sirens show. I've heard nothing but good things." After finishing pouring his beer with a perfect foam head, he gathers his plate of sushi in his other hand and turns to the newest SoS member with a smirk playing across his face, "Any trouble finding this place?" Before Khitti could answer the Lyastri, he walks back to the meeting table and places the plate down. He leans against the impressive table and hovers a finger around in circles over the sushi before choosing an unagi roll to consume first.

Khitti || Sometimes, Khitti somehow managed to forget that she was famous. Like, really famous. How did this happen? How did she somehow become almost as famous as her brother Lionel when she hated attention almost as much as he did? Khitti really didn’t know why she, an extrovert, had done this to herself, but thankfully, she’s really good at the whole ‘out of sight; out of mind’ trick. So, when the Sound of Sirens are mentioned, Khitti almost didn’t register it. And then she remembered, duh, it was just the two of them in there. That she could tell anyway. Several blinks and somewhat reddened face later, Khitti finally diverted her attention towards the elf, processed what he said, and watched him sit. “Oh, uh. Yes. I’m well acquainted with Kelay’s main road, so it didn’t take long.” Khitti squinted at him a little, trying to see if she’d ever seen him before, but nope. “Who… uh… are you? You obviously know who I am,” she said with a smirk.

Magik pushes the plate of omnoms towards Khitti just a tad, "Magikrios Lyastri D'Chath. Sushi?" He pops another piece of deliciousness in his mouth. He starts to talk with his mouth full but quickly brings his arm up to hide his rude manners, "Or Magik. Magik is fine. Veneficus D'Chath if you ever happen to see me at the Mage's Tower..Should you have a reason to be there." Finally without a mouth full of food, he takes a drink from his beer mug and sets it back on the table.

Khitti shook her head at Magik and his offer of sushi, “No, thanks.” Finally taking a seat, she settled herself down into it and resumed looking around, though her words were still for the elf. “I do occasionally go there. I suppose I should see if I even have an office or whatever else they give to those at the Veneficus rank. I’ve only been there once or twice since my interview with Odhranos.” She had wanted to say that she didn’t go there often because she didn’t trust most of those mages as far as she could throw them, but chose not to. Olive-green eyes found the elf again, “I don’t need any of the fancy titles in front of my name though, Khitti will do. The whole ranking thing makes me uncomfortable. Like I’m not on even ground with other people. I get the need for it though--I have the same thing in my own guild--but it’s mostly for show.” Khitti shrugged nonchalantly, “Obviously, I will still use the titles for those that wish it.”

Magik was surprised to be in the presence of another Auxilia Veneficus, "Oh! You teach as well? That's good to know!" He nods understandingly about the rankings, "Aye. I agree somewhat but having a little bit of structure can be good. Like, with the Syndicate. Everyone's just about equal. Some folks have simply less or more say in any decision making but no one is looked down upon for having a lower rank.I wouldn't allow such a thing. It's simply a matter of getting used to how we work before we allow the responsibility of making important decisions for the good of the organization. I just like to keep my image up around the tower as the super calm meditation and pyromancy teacher. So I've taken a liking to the Veneficus title around there." More sushi. Spicy tuna. Mouth closed while chewing. Manners, Magikrios.

Khitti smirked as she watched him shove more sushi into his face hole, waving a hand at his attempt at manners, “You’re perfectly fine to funnel sushi into your mouth, if you want. I’m the same way with sweets and I’m certainly no “lady”. That and I’ve got a toddler, so…” The redhead side-eyed the ground a bit. “Manners are barely a thing at home most days.” It was kind of hard to enforce that sort of thing when you lived on a ship with around a hundred crewmembers most days. “But yes, I definitely understand the need for structure. As for teaching, the only person I’ve taught so far is Quintessa, in the Necromancer’s Guild. I don’t specialize in arcane magicks like most do at the Mage Tower, so I don’t really have people groveling at my feet to teach them. Quintessa is actually helping me with that, the arcane stuff.” Khitti shrugged. “Seems I have to do things the hard way, but surprisingly, she’s a good teacher.”

Magik warmly smiled, "Ah, but first impressions are the most important, Khitti." He laughed then took another drink of his beer as he listened to Khitti's words. After the mentioning of Tessa, he chimes in, "I've seen Tessa at work. She's definitely talented and very studious. I'm glad she has the ability to share her knowledge with others. Speaking of Quintessa, and I don't mean to change the subject but.." His tone changes a bit as he starts discussing business, "I need to speak with her about who may be behind the posted threat in the tavern." The Lyastri was beyond annoyed that someone would dare attack Mesthak's legendary tavern. "I, just..You don't mess with the tavern and," he gestures above him, "it's just about right above here. I can't chance this little hideout we have here being discovered. Keep your eyes and ears open."

Khitti’s olive-green line of sight shifted upwards, acknowledging the obviously close proximity the Syndicate’s base was to the tavern. Unpainted, pale lips twisted into frown as she nodded to Magik, “I certainly hope it’s not this new recruit in the Necromancer’s Guild that I’ve been informed of. But considering this is Quintessa we’re speaking of, it could be anyone. She’s worse than I am when it comes to the need to be constantly doing things. Regardless of who it is, however, they won’t make it far. This place aside, the Devout’s Guild headquarters is just down the street… and I have put too much work into that place to just let it fall to someone like this.” Khitti sighed, settling her attention on the table now, “I’ve had a hell of a time trying to calm my younger students because of it. Do let me know if you speak to her soon. I’d very much like to set this person on fire.”

Magik simply nods, "That's one thing I pride myself in; communicating. Notes are passed back and forth very carefully within our network." Magik chuckles at the fiery comment. He holds his hand out palm up and quickly snaps his fingers. Black fire burns in the palm of his hand for a quick moment before taking the shape of a man running around in circles in a frenzy trying to pat out the fire. The faceless figure ends up falling face first and the fire extinguishes. The pyromancer smirks to Khitti, "Not if I get to them first."

Khitti smirked at Magik’s fire. “I see I’m not the only one with strange flames.” In the palm of her hand, dark purple flames with a blackened center erupted into a small ball, “My magic’s not from around here though, which is why our lovely Quintessa is having to teach me arcane.” She shrugged, then blinked, “Oh. That reminds me. I didn't mean to make this an extended stay. My husband was supposed to be teaching our kid how to properly use his fire and ice magic but uh... “ She forced a smile, one that was quite pained. “Our dear child thinks it’s all a game and doesn’t realize that mommy and daddy doesn’t have the money to buy a new ship or replace all the furniture all the time. So, I need to go make sure I still have a home to go to and hopefully I don’t have to help have a funeral for my husband’s most prized possession.” She meant the ship, of course. Brand often referred to it as his ‘first born child’. Khitti pushed back her chair a bit and stood, “I’m sure you all know where to find me already if and when I’m needed and if you don’t, Quintessa certainly does.”

Magik oohs and ahhs at Khitti's fire display. His fiery eyes burn brightly while maintaining their darkness as he admires the purple fire. There aren't too many around that know how to play with fire effectively so he tends to take an almost immediate liking to those who share the same passion for such an unforgivable element. The elf once again chuckles at Khitti's words and nods, "I fully understand. I'm glad you finally stopped by and I'm definitely excited to be working with you in the future. Feel free to grab a drink on your way out. You might need it for your child's lesson."

Khitti || “Ohhh. That’s a good idea,” Khitti said, giving Magik finger guns. “I’m glad I stopped by too. Had to, you know, make sure you guys weren’t totally crazy or anything.” The redhead poured herself a shot of whiskey once she made it to the designated table and immediately downed it. After a moment’s consideration just as she was about to recork the bottle, she poured herself another and drank it. And then? Just to be safe, she took one last shot and corked the bottle finally before she got carried away. She couldn’t drunk-drive her sabrecat mount all the way to Cenril, you know. That’s completely irresponsible! “Good news is you passed! Well, you specifically. I -know- Quintessa’s nuts. She hangs around me after all.” Her shot glass was stuffed in with the rest of the dirty dishes and her chair pushed in soon after. Without anything more to say, Khitti’d give Magik a wave, allowing him to return to his sushi feast in silence.

Magik thinks Khitti will fit in just fine. However, not crazy? We'll see about that.. someday.
