Summary: After Larewen is left comatose after a battle with Jarith, Pilar searches Vailkrin for her. By coincidence, she runs into Shishi, who brings her to his home to see Lady Dragana. In an effort to help, Pilar gives some of her magic to Larewen.

Hanging Corpse Tavern

It had been days since that weird green moon exploded over Vailkrin, and the streets were torn up. Days since Larewen disappeared. It wasn't so strange for Larewen to lock herself away in her study, or take off for a time, but Pilar had a bad feeling in her gut. The moment she laid eyes on the destruction, she'd started to search for Larewen. When the servants at home said she'd never returned that night, she began combing over Vailkrin. She had spoken to Steadmen, who'd answered most of her questions, and had even approached some of the other patrons who the bartender had pointed out as being there that night, though most shooed her away. Pilar had learned that there had been some sort of battle that caused the destruction, and someone had recognized Larewen amongst the combatants, and of course this only heightened Pilar's anxiety. No one had seen the end of the fight, as everyone had fled or hunkered down until it passed, so no one could tell her what had become of her benefactor. Now, she was at the bar, nursing a drink, trying to figure out her next move.

Shishi enters The Corpse with a gentle push to the entrance doors from his left shoulder. The a small black bat tails him in, fluttering at neck height less than two feet behind the vampire. The assassin is in mid sentence as they appear through the doorway, “...didn't think you cared that much. Or at all. You know?” The so called Blue Demon hasn't been seen here since the night of the ‘entanglement’ that has left much of Vailkrin's main road in shambles and he is here now seeking help. The cycloptic barkeep is eyed by the vampire as he approaches the bar, but none of the usual empty threats of removing Steadman’s lone eye are flung. Instead the cursed assassin stops at the counter and is met there by the usual glass of blood wine and a question from the man that delivered it, “You were out there tearing up the street, eh?” To which Blue puffs out his cheeks and nods twice in silence.

Pilar thought Shishi's voice sounded familiar, but as she was lost in her own thoughts, and had only met him the once, it didn't register. What DID register was Steadmen's words. She sat up straight and turned to see to whom he was speaking, and recognition dawned on Pilar's face. That was Larewen's ex-husband! And he had been involved in the fight? Maybe... She downed the rest of her drink and got up. She walked down the length of the bar and stopped next to the assassin. "E-Excuse me..." she murmured. She was nervous, as always. She didn't know this guy. For all she knew, the fight had been between him and Larewen, and he had harmed her. But he was her only lead. "Do... Do you know where Lady Larewen is?"

Shishi leaves payment for his drink on the bar top and the glass goes untouched as it often does. The vampire is slightly curious how Steadman knew he was involved in the calamity that night, but isn't in the mood to ask and even if he was Pilar is near him now and asking about Green. Oceanic blue eyes tilt the other vampire's way. They've met before, but can be recall where? The night of their only introduction had proven an… eventful one for him and other parties involved. She should be able to see the exact moment where he puts everything together and recognizes her, azure eyes widening slightly, “Lar? Yes. We know where she is.” That answer is almost useless on its own, but Shishi looks oblivious to that fact before asking, “Why? Lookin’ for her?”

Pilar wasn't ready to sigh in relief just yet. Okay, so he knew where Larewen was. Would he be willing to share? To take her there, even? Only one way to find out. "Yes, I haven't seen her for days. I've been very worried. Please, is she alright? Can you take me to her?" The girl was obviously distraught as she clasped her hands together, almost as if she was pleading with him.

Shishi frowns slightly at her questioning, tests the sharpness of his top left fang with the tip of his tongue behind closed lips and turns his stare downward towards his wine glass, which is pushed away an inch with one finger on the stem. “She was wounded in the fight… I took her home. I'm afraid she hasn't woken up yet… I can't figure out why…” The assassin stands and looks towards the exit, “Do you think you could help her?” he asks hopefully of Pilar while Wakka flaps annoying circles around the pair of Vampires.

Pilar's face went from nervous to crestfallen, her eyes drifting downwards. She had hoped to find Larewen safe and sound, not wounded and unconscious. Not for the first time, she wished she knew some sort of healing magic. "I'm sorry... I can't..." Useless, useless girl. She looked up at Shishi. "I... I want to see her. To be by her side. Even if there's nothing I can do, I just... want to be with her." She adored Larewen, as a child might adore a favorite teacher, and while it might pain her to see Larewen in her current state, Pilar couldn't bear to leave her alone, not now.

Shishi maintains his displeased expression at the answer he gets from Pilar. In a display of inhuman speed and annoyance the assassin swats the circling bat out of the air with enough force to knock it to the ground with a painful sounding thud. He speaks without acknowledging the act of violence he's just committed in the slightest, “You may come back to the estate to see her then.” The Blue Demon looks Steadman’s way, checking to see if the man reacts in anyway to the offer given to Pilar. He doesn't. With a nod towards the exit Shishi explains, “It is not far.”

Pilar gasped and knelt by the little bat's side, picking the creature up and holding it to her chest, gingerly checking for injuries. Seeming to find none, she glared over her shoulder at Shishi before getting to her feet. Anyone who could harm an animal could not be trusted to watch over someone who was hurt, as far as she was concerned. But, she didn't dare demand he let her take Larewen home. Not yet. If she had another member of House Dragana by her side, then maybe, maybe she'd have had the guts to say something. "Show me. Please," she said, managing to keep her tone civil.

Shishi ignores the glare he gets from Pilar and shakes his head, “If you coddle that thing he'll never leave you alone.” With advice on dealing with the indestructible creature dispensed Blue starts heading to the exit, Steadman already clearing away his glass of blood wine. “Aye. Lets go.” It was probably for the best the woman wasn't demanding to take Green back to House Dragana. The last one to make that demand was not welcomed into The Thorne Estate as kindly as she was about to be by The Blue Demon and his family.

The Thorne Estate

Pilar followed Shishi out of the tavern, still cuddling/coddling the bat. She wouldn't mind if he didn't leave her alone, she loved critters. As they passed through the streets, she looked at the torn up cobblestone and damaged fountain. What had happened here? What had happened to Larewen? As they made their way up the path to the manor, she realized she'd seen this building from the road before. Of course Larewen's ex was as wealthy as she was. It seemed everyone and their mother had a mansion in Vailkrin. She didn't speak at all the entire trip. What was the point? There was nothing to say.

Shishi and Pilar move through the destroyed main street and the other vampire will see that the destruction hasn't missed this home. The mansion is intact although the face of the building is cracked and crumbled in some places and sports a broken window. The structure was lucky by the looks of the rest of the property. The black gate marking the point where the road ends and the estate begins is flattened, and the garden in front of the home is all but unearthed. Devastation is ignored by the assassin as he opens the doors to the home left to his children by the head of The Eldritch Cabal. The vampires are greeted by the smell of dinner; chicken and some kind of vegetable tonight, that wafts from the kitchen. Yellow is in there eating so the pair won't see him as they make their way to one of the bedrooms where they find Larewen out cold on the bed, her midriff exposed with bandages wrapping around her lowest ribs and Leralynn in a large armchair beside her, the girl leafing through an old book before looking up to her father and Pilar, “You found someone to help, Blue?” she asks while eying the woman.

Pilar set the bat down at the foot of the bed before falling to her knees by her benefactor's side. "Larewen..." she murmured, a hand moving to caress her face, the other taking her hand. The woman looked... dead. Like, actually dead. Without the normal signs of life, Pilar had no way to know if Larewen truly was only unconscious, or... No, she had to trust that Shishi would know if Larewen was alive or not. "What's wrong with her?" she asked, not taking her eyes off the elf. She glanced at the bandages. Surely a mere flesh wound would not be enough to incapacitate an elder vampire?

Shishi shakes his head to his daughter, “Not quite.” is his answer to her question. The blonde girl's response is to close the book on her lap and narrow her blue stare at her father as if to silently ask ‘Then what the heck is this? Why’d you come back?’ Blue can't decipher the look completely and just ends up shrugging his shoulders to the little mimic. Wakka crawls to the nearby edge of the bed and drops off of it before buzzing by Shishi’s head in a roundabout course to land on the high back of Orange's chair. “Like I said…” the Blue Demon starts, “She's recovering from the wound, but I think she should have woken up by now…” Leralynn gives her own speculative explanation immediately after her father falls silent, “Her magic. I can't feel any of it. Maybe she used it all up… you know?”

Pilar finally looked away from Larewen, glancing at the little girl. "Her magic?" Her gaze turned back. Now that she mentioned it, Pilar couldn't feel any magic, either. She was only a novice mage, and couldn't intuitively sense magic, unless it was out in the open. When she tried, though, she could pick up on it. And right now, she was trying to find a spark of magic within Larewen, and failing. She thought. Maybe... there was a way she could help. But, no, they would have thought of it and tried it before her... right? She didn't know how to ask, so she decided to wing it anyway. Thinking back to the beginnings of her studies, she concentrated, feeling the magic within her body. She clasped Larewen's hand in hers, and willed her raw mana to flow into the elf. If Larewen needed magic, then magic was what Pilar would give her.

Shishi puffs out his cheeks at the talk of magic. He didn't have any of the stuff to speak of and he wasn't lying unconscious somewhere. As far as he's concerned having mana or whatever one wanted to call it isn't a prerequisite for staying awake, “Eh.” the assassin shrugs to Orange while unbeknownst to him Pilar begins supplying Green with some of what she's missing. Maybe she stirs slightly, possibly just a reflexive reaction to the procedure, but it doesn't seem to accomplish much more than that.

Pilar had no idea if what she was doing would help or not. But she was starting to feel a little tired, and cut off the flow of magic to the unconscious elf. She sighed, and leaned up to kiss Larewen's temple. She got back to her feet, and reluctantly let Larewen's hand go. She looked at Leralynn, then at Shishi. "I will find someone to help her... I know a few healers. One of them must know something. Until then... may I come back to visit her?"

Shishi nods once to Pilar, “Aye. We'll continue looking as well. Kasyr was with her that night before we arrived… I'll find him.” A glance is sent Leralynn’s way, somewhat hesitant because of the permission and information he is about to give the other vampire, “Orange or I will be with her at all times. If you can find someone to help bring them here to us immediately.”

Pilar nodded back. "Of course. Until then." She took a step towards the door, then stopped. It wouldn't be proper to go traipsing through the manor alone. Also, she didn't remember the way back out. She glanced back somewhat sheepishly. "I don't suppose... you can show me out?"

Shishi tilts his head in the direction he moves toward a second later. Orange offers a half-hearted wave for the vampire woman before reopening her book as the pair departs. In the foyer Arius is found chasing a small, Fox-like creature around, the blonde boy stopping to blink blue eyes Pilar’s way,”Oh. Hi.” he's a bit disappointed to not see that weird creature she had with her the last time the family saw her. Yellow is clearly the least concerned of the colorful trio in regards to their unconscious house guest. The exit is held open for Pilar by The Blue Demon who sarcastically advises her to, “Please watch your step in the garden… what's left of it."

Pilar waved back to Orange (it was only polite, after all), before falling behind Shishi as he led the way through the house. She nodded in greeting to Yellow, and wondered if he was as uncaring of Larewen's condition as he seemed. Surely not... Right? She stepped through the door into the brisk night air and dipped her head to Shishi. "Farewell, Lord Shishi."

Shishi flinches, it's been years since anyone used that title in reference to him... And he sure missed that 'Stupid Knight' that did it the most. "Night then. Good luck."
