Summary: Kailani seeks out the Devout's Guild leader and after a bit of questioning, decides to join the guild!

Sanctum Of The Divine, Kelay

Khitti || Things were running as usual in the Sanctum. Whatever students didn’t have studying to do were taking care of chores upstairs and downstairs in this part of the headquarters, with more coming or going from the Sacrosanct beyond that strange door at the back of the build, whether to help here or go aid someone outside in the world. The guild leader was no different. Khitti was currently dusting and doing her best not to sneeze. To sneeze meant the possibility of knocking over the bronze statue of Delisha in front of her. Fate, as usual, was not kind to Khitti. This time around though, things were pretty mild, albeit still embarrassing. The sneeze came and the statue knocked over. But! Khitti had managed to save it. But! Both of the templar’s hands managed to grab hold of Delisha’s rather voluptuous form. More specifically, the goddess’ breasts. It couldn’t have been one of her many arms. Ohhh noo. In the seconds that went by, Khitti processed this, sighed heavily, hoped no one saw that, and put the status back onto its pedestal properly. Was… was that the sound of Brand cackling in the distance? No. But, Khitti’d certainly hear it when she went home and told him about it.

Kailani :: Unfortunately for Khitti, someone was entering the Sanctum just as her dusting fiasco occurring....and more than likely it would not take Khitti long to notice the newest arrival. She tended to stick out in a crowd, it was her vividly colored hair and eyes that were as intense with their coloring that tended to draw attention. Not that she cared for the attention, not like some of the women in the lands. Most of her time was spent alone in the forests, only moving into civilization with clear intent and purpose. Today her purpose was to seek out the Devout's Guild. It had taken her too much time to catch wind of the existence of the rebirth of the guild, spending her days communing with the forests and the animals within tend to make one out of the loop when it came to the news. Something that Kailani sought to change, as a complete lack of awareness in what is happening around her is no good. The blue-haired druid is of average height and clad in thick leather armors with a spear with that is slung harmlessly over her back. As comical as this situation is, there is no humor written on Kailani's facade as she approaches Khitti. She seemed like she was probably going to be one of those super serious types.

Khitti coughed awkwardly as Kailani approached, her hands rubbing off dusty debris--and invisible boob evidence--on her pants. Before she finally spewed out a greeting, she ogled the druid’s hair. Wow, so pretty. Maybe she should dye her hair? Get it enchanted to change color when she wanted? Hrm. Tempting. “Hi,” the redhead said with one of those customer service smiles--she wasn’t entirely dead inside, but there were certainly days she had to utilize it, whether it seemed like someone wasn’t in a good mood or when she definitely wasn’t. “Welcome to the Sanctum. Did you need a place to stay? Bite to eat? Or something else?” Or maybe it was all three? Kailani wouldn’t be the first one she’d given food, lodging, and a job all at the same time. While she waited for a response, she side-eyed the statue, realized it wasn’t exactly straight, and adjusted it accordingly before fixating on the druid again.

Kailani 's mood definitely was not a sour one, but it takes time for strangers to get to know one another. Kailani's reaction time to this smile will probably leave something to be desired, but it eventually does click in the mind of the woman who does not do much people-ing that the appropriate thing would do would be to smile and return. And boy the muscles in her face that are being utilized to facilitate this smile sure feel weird moving in that way. "No. I am not in need of any of those." Khitti straightens out the statue of Delisha as Kailani moves away, the other pieces of art dedicated to the gods were starting to claim her attention. "No, I left the solitude of the forest specifically to come here. I was curious to learn more of the purpose of this guild, the activities that you guys partake in, the ways your members serve their respective gods. I am dedicated to Selene and Zytor and through my chosen path as a druid, I have also found much reverence for HInd as well." Kailani's tone is as smooth and cool, it is not until her last sentence that she returns those strangely luminescent blue eyes to the red head, "And if the answers are to my liking, then I am thinking that this is a group that I may fit well within. I am hoping to join."

Khitti knew that feel, Kailani. If Khitti had a choice, she wouldn’t people at all. But, unfortunately, when the gods give you something to do after resurrecting you, you kinda pretty much have to do it. (It sucks.) Khitti’s own smile would fade in time as Kailani talked, the guild leader going into ‘business mode’. “As of late, we’ve been doing a lot of everything. Getting rid of curses, fighting with those that can’t be helped. Here, specifically,” she said, pointing at the staircase, “We house those that don’t have homes--whether they’re displaced thanks to people like the Larketian Monarchy or if they’re just struggling as most do. The place is a lot bigger than it seems, so we’ve plenty of room for them all. And if they’d rather not stay for an extended amount of time, we try to find them housing elsewhere.” Khitti eyed Kailani, then shifted her attention elsewhere peering around this part of the Devout’s Guild’s headquarters. “But, mostly, the members come and go as they please. Each of us have our own specific paths we have to walk. So, we work together, while also working separately.” The redhead shrugged, “It’s a lot more difficult than it seems sometimes though. I try to teach them all that we’ve all got a place here, but most Lithrydelians see things in black and white. It’s hard to get them to see otherwise. That there should be a sort of balance. No one -has- to get along, but everyone’s at least due a bit of respect.” Khitti took a seat on a nearby pew, offering the one across from her as a seat if the druid wanted it, “If that seems like something that might be appealing to you, then we’d absolutely welcome you. There’s always something to do. Always someone to help or bad guys of varying moral alignments that needs dealing with.”

Kailani finds that she is growing tired of standing. She was far from the brink of exhaustion, but after traveling here her feet would appreciate a few moments of relief. There are probably plenty of chairs that Kailani would be able to temporarily claim as her own, but the druid opts to hunker down in a cross-legged position on the floor right in front of Khitti. A hand rests upon each knee as she continues the conversation with Khitti. What the woman says makes since to her, fitting for the purpose of the guild. "I am glad to hear that you have mentioned the word balance to me. That is something that I think that far too many people do not actually wish to see. Like you said, many do not see the shades of gray. They only see in black and white. Most people who claim that they are good want to triumph over evil and vice versa. An organization that would be able to respect balance is something that is important to me. So let's say...One of our members. One of your very zealously good member's thinking has evolved over the course of time. When they first come, they are tempered and respectable to all but as time goes on...Let's say that they have decided they wanted to eradicate every follower of Vakmatharas that they encounter, even those that you may have also admitted into this guild." There is a pause so that Khitti can catch up with this hypothetical scenario that Kailani is presented. "What would your response be?"

Khitti || “They’d be removed from the guild, immediately. Beyond that, if the problem persisted, we’d attempt to try to do things diplomatically, try to get them to see what they’re doing. As a follower of Cyris, I can’t just outright force someone to do something they don’t want to do. They have the right to choose whether or not they want to dislike someone, but… once it gets violent is when I have to step in. It’s unfortunately usually the ones that follow Vakmathras and Delisha that are like that. They’re trapped in a stereotype that no one’ll let them escape from. If Cyris hadn’t given me a purpose, I think I would’ve chosen Vakmathras, and I certainly wouldn’t have gone down that path that pretty much everyone in Trist’oth or Vailkrin walk down and likely would be preaching the same thing I am now,” Khitti said, idly chewing away at the inside of her bottom lip as she spoke. “But, as you said, there’s zealotry and evil on both sides, regardless of how people classify those in Lithrydel’s pantheon. I don’t put up with any of it. I’ve seen enough hatred and bloodshed from those that want to drown the world in blood or set it aflame with righteous fury and I’ve grown tired of it,” she said with a sigh.

Kailani would smile were she the sort, but she is not. The point is, she was ultimately pleased with Khitti's answer. It is at this point that the druid finds her footing once more, extending a hand out to Khitti once she is back to her full height. "Then if it pleases you as much as your answer pleases me...My name is Kailani and I would like to be considered for entrance into your guild." It was as simple as that for Kailani, she just wanted an affiliation that could at least have the potential to understand what the word balance meant. Perhaps not all in the guild understand this, but it is clear that Khitti does. The druid waits with an outstretched hand for Khitti's response.

Khitti would nod at Kailani, standing as well before taking Kailani’s hand and shaking it briefly, ”We’d definitely love to have you Kailani. I’m Khitti, by the way. If you -do- think that you’d need lodging at some point, you’ll have a room in the Sacrosanct, regardless of whether or not you use it.” She motioned towards the strange door before continuing, “There’s a library, an armory, and a training room too to use if and when you wish.” She was just about to dismiss Kailani to go do… whatever it was Kailani did when she remembered, “Oh! Each person gets to pick a title for themselves. Something simple and not anything super official. It’s just basically to let people know where they might go to, should they have questions about a specific god or collection of them. And, also--” Khitti held out her hand, palm side up for Kailani to set her own upon it, “--I’ve got to give you your way in too. It’s nothing special. Just a rune spell to let you in to the guild only areas. It disappears after I’m done.” It wasn’t something Khitti normally explained to new members, but Kailani seemed the type to possibly be skeptical or cautious about such things, and Khitti didn’t want to offend her somehow.

Kailani :: Everything that Khitti was explaining to Kailani made perfect sense to the blue-haired woman. There was one dumbfounded expression when she comes to the realization that she is supposed to pick some sort of title for herself. Come up with a title that might give people an idea of where they might go should they have questions. A blue brow lifts slowly, the druidic woman struggling to come up with a way to combine her respect for all three gods into one simple title. A breath is taken in and as she releases it she gives herself probably the least flashy title of them all so far....and perhaps the least descriptive? Needless to say, Kailani is stumped. "Druid...I think the simplest is probably the most accurate reflection of what I believe, yet it may require some basic understanding of what a druid is..." Kailani shrugs. "If I think of anything better. Or if you have anything more descriptive...." A title was not something that Kailani was overly concerned with. Kailani's hand is placed upon Khitti's, palm side up, in acceptance of the rune spell that the other was seeking to place on her.

Khitti shook her head, offering Kailani a reassuring smile, “The title’s not mandatory either. Some are simply known as ‘Templar of Cyris’ or ‘Paladin of Arkhen’.” The rune is drawn out on Kailani’s palm, the sun symbol shining silver briefly before disappearing, much like Khitti had said. “Whatever you decide--whether you stick with just ‘druid’ or not--I’m sure it’ll be perfectly fine. Welcome to the guild, Kailani.”
