Wolves Den

Balder is the very picture of enthusiasm and smug confidence. Even Ayras' rather base display of biting the guard doesn't break the mood, and the warrior opts for disgusted amusement, pointing and jeering at the parched prisoner in obvious contempt. "Get him off!" The bitten giant yells, smacking and shaling, trying to dissuade Ayras by means of bludgeoning and thrashing. Quick to his aid comes another guard, and they begin coordinating to pummel/pry at Ayras, if he can be so pummeled and pried. "Quiet! They're going to announce!" Balgruff gesticulates, and despite the ongoing antics, the crowd manages to gather itself enough to make at least a reasonable show of attentiveness. The mouth piece speaks. "As decided by the ancient rites of-" "EEOW!!" The guard bellows as Irthos burns his hand, earning a very gruff look from the mouthpiece indeed. "Keep it down! As decided by the ancient rites of combat, by means of might against might, it is determined... that Ayras is the Victor, and a free man!" The last of this announcement is shouted at full volume, and even then he is nearly drowned out by the uproar that follows. Balder's face is the very picture of stunned disappointment.

It only took a few choice punches to his wounded side to get Ayras to dislodge from his victim. He was still in a bloodlust, both due to his thirst and his wound, but his snack had done enough to at least get him to his senses. The announcement of his victory goes unheard by the vampire, his mind solely on finding a victim to sate his appetites...and consequently his eyes land on Balder. What he would give to be able to sink his fangs into that throat and rip it open! The look on the giant's face brought a cruel, sadistic grin to the spellblade's lips, a grin that promised death. "Come, come," he giggled out like a lunatic, "come sup at my table. You'll be dying for dessert!"

Balder's eyes swing to Balgruff to look for some kind of rebuttal or objection, but his father is applauding and nodding his approval at the mouthpiece, satisfied to see problems solved the *Frostmaw* way, apparently. Their eyes connect, and Balgruff's brows raise expectantly, prompting Balder to wipe at least some of the disappointment off his own face, settling instead for something a little more surly and brooding. "Don't push your luck," he yells back at Ayras. "I saw what I came here to see." After throwing a nod at his gang, Balder gestures with a thumb over his shoulder, a silent 'let's go'. They begin turning, but not before the reckless, axe toting youth shoots a look of heartfelt hatred at Ayras. It's an unspoken pledge.

Ayras threw his head back and laughed as he watched Balder go, as he saw that promise to kill him. It was clear something in the elf had snapped and broken to pieces, something that had kept the man civil and calm. "I'll be seeing you!" the vampire called after Balder, his voice almost sing-song in quality. "I'm sure the wait will be the death of you!" Laughter ripped out of Ayras as the guards that held him led him out of the cavern. They likely were planning to take him to a healer, but the maniacal laughter was driving them insane. He may have been a free man, but that didn't mean the giants intended to treat him any better, especially not now that he had bitten one of them in plain sight. No, these giants took him to deposit by the entrance to the city.
