  • Under The Floorboards

This tiny lair is positioned perfectly to thieve from the restaurant above. Anyone in the lair can press their ears against the ceiling made from the restaurant floorboards can hear if anybody is above and there is plenty room for around six people to squeeze inside if they are quiet they would never be noticed. Light is provided by numerous cracks in the floor boards and casts soemwhat sinister shadows against the stone walls of this place. Obviously whoever uses this hole is tempted by the welcoming aroma of freshly cooked food and completely obvious to the large number of rats squeaking in the shadows all around.

Kain climbs down, lets his eyes adjust, then nods to the woman. "I'll get right ta the point. I don't like slavers 'n generally don't believe in slavery. However. If ye kin keep a certain dragon from causin' trouble..." He trails off, waiting on her reaction.

Lorina narrows her eyes when the dwarf makes his decent to her lair. Even more shocked when he talks to her about slaves. Every word he had said to her goes through one ear and out the other as she knew she would not even bother messing around with a dragon. "First off... I take it you are Kain... Secondly, lets get this straight. I do not mess around with dragons in any way. If you play with fire too much you'll get burned. So think of something else to tell me or let me rest like I was before you rudely interrupted me.." Then, muttering under her breath some foul words about dwarves and how they somehow manage to smell up any place they come by. Standing and grasping a dagger nearby, she crosses her arms and leans against the wall with her shoulder. "Well?"

Kain strokes his beard. He didn't seem at all concerned with her arming herself with a dagger. "Aye. I be Kain. I be the one who put tagether the Chainbreakers 'n ended the business 'o the last slaver. I don't care if ye enslave it, 'r kill it, 'r how it gets done. If ye still ain’t interested in negotiatin', I'll inform the other Chainbreakers we got another problem ta deal with. But if ye be willin' ta consider me offer, then I be turnin' a blind eye ta yer operations, in so long as ye don't be goin' after me family 'r close friends. Choice be yers, lass."

Lorina shakes her head with a small sigh. "Perhaps you have not read my message too clearly, dwarf... Any threats will be placed strictly upon this feline, so your little Chainbreakers group can bury my hole for the corpse after I suck his blood dry. As for your family. What is keeping me from really getting to them? If I see someone who looks like they can be worth a pretty coin then I will take them as my own. Perhaps that younger girl I always see you around with would be a good one. I think I heard her name was Dawn? Am I right? What would you do if I took her as my very own, forbid her from ever seeing you again under penilty of death? I am not going to listen to anymore threats. The dragon is not my concern, it is yours. Try to find something that would be interesting to me, and not so much to yourself. For I am the one with the slave, and dealing the punishments.

Kain responded in a flat voice. "I don't make threats. Someone is going to deal with him sooner or later. I would myself, but the creature might flee fore I could kill it, 'n that would put me family at risk. If ye ain't interested in gold, so be it. But know this. Should Dawn come into danger, I'm not the only one who'll be out for blood. Leave her 'n me family alone, 'n I'll not inform the Chainbreakers 'o ye." He sighs, seeming frustrated. "Know we anyone who might be interested in takin' out the illusionist. Good information may get ye gold outta me yet, though not nearly so much as ye could make by..." He shrugs. "But if ye've not the backbone ta do the job yerself, I suppose I kin understand that."

Lorina grins at the dwarf's frustration. Though, she too was starting to get rather frustrated. "You said in your post you were offering me gold for this feline's freedom? What is the offer? Give me the name of the dragon and I will keep an eye out. Also, give me an idea of just what am I suppose to do to this dragon...."

Kain shrugs. "Me initial offer was ten thousand gold and this," he replies, pulling out a frost lined razor whip. "Seems someone else is interested as well, 'n 'e might very well be able ta outbid me fer the fox, 'specially as I be tryin' ta put together at least fifty grand fer whoever deals with me Helich problem." He grins wryly. "I don't care what ye do with the illusionist, just so long as 'e can't cause any more trouble fer me family, 'n it be kept secret that I were involved. Kill 'im, enslave 'im 'n use 'im as yer personal laborer, I care not. Just so long as 'e be unable ta cause any more problems. Fifty grand be me startin' offer, 'n if I've got more 'n that when the job be done, then I'll be payin' more. Does that interest ye?"

Lorina said to you, "I sell my slaves... What makes you think I will be able to keep a monster of such power behind chains for very long? Helich hmm? I'll remember that name. But how about changing a few things. I will not attempt to enslave a dragon, for that is simply unheard of. It would take an entire group to bring a dragon done to that level. I can however ensure a new proposal. I can be your, and your family's person bodyguard of this dragon and fight him off should he stir up some trouble. I will not however hunt him down and fight him. I can watch over your family and yourself while you have your little drinks in the tavern for say.....the small price of... fifteen, to twenty thousand. Sound like a fair compromise?"

Kain strokes his beard at the proposal for a few moments. "Well, that would ensure that none 'o them end up enslaved, 'n does give 'im more enemies." He chuckles. "How does 17,000 gold 'n the whip sound?" he offers, then adds, "N this protection continues until the dragon be dead, 'n addition, ye promise ta not ever attempt ta enslave any 'o me family. Sound fair?" Removing his right gauntlet, he offers his hand to shake, should the deal be acceptable.

Lorina takes a small breath and walks towards the dwarf. He was quite the negitiator. Taking his hand and giving it a firm shake, she then asks curiously. "When will I be getting my money?" Cold blue eyes gazing into his while awaiting an answer,

Kain smiles. "As soon as ye swear aloud that me family never be a target 'o yer slave trade."

Lorina said to you, "**Grumbles a bit and sighs** I promise Kain..."

Kain nods. "Then I be keepin' yer face, 'n knowledge 'o yer activities ta meself. I be a man 'o me word, 'n I hope ye be keep 'o yers as well." That said, he hands her the whip, then weighs out about 17k in gold with his hands. "There might be a bit more there, but ye kin count it ta make sure."

Lorina nods and smiles. "You made someone very happy today Kain. I am a woman of my word, and I will watch over your family and yourself until this dragon is delt with. Perhaps your little Chainbreakers group should get together one day and just attack. I only do what I said I would. Protect when needed."

Kain : After giving her the agreed upon payment, he nods, turns, and begins heading toward the ladder, then pauses. "That offer fer info on anyone who might be interested in killin' Helich still stands. If ye learn 'o someone, let me know. G'day lass."

Lorina said to you, "G'day Sir." This tiny lair is positioned perfectly to thieve from the restaurant above.
