RP:Holy Avenger

From HollowWiki

Setting: The scenic cliff near the mining cave.

Participants: Sororia and Korike

Synopsis Despite breaking away from Korike's mind-power, Sororia continued to remember. Now she has all her memories back. (Read RP: Scales of the Mind first.)

Story Sororia stares over the cliff, though she doesn't appear to be enjoying the scenic view. Her sword is in her lap.

Korike spots Sororia and says "Hello! Are...you feeling alright?"

Sororia nods. "Yeah."

Korike smiles. "Glad to hear it." The gnome then goes to sit down next to his friend. "I...was actually a little worried, to be honest."

Sororia nods again. "So, why are you here?"

Korike shrugs. "I was just taking a break from my training. Have you been doing any training?" asks the gnome.

Sororia says, "Yeah." She holds up her sword; it seems to glow with holy magic. "This helps."

Korike goes wide-eyed for a moment while looking at the human's blade. "Wow! Nice sword!" After thinking for a moment, the gnome adds "At some point...if you feel ready to see more of your memories, just let me know."

Sororia smiles thinly. "No need. They've unlocked. All of them. Even though I tried to keep them away. They're all...here." She points to her head.

Korike looks surprised. "Oh...I'm sorry."

Sororia frowns. "First you offer to unlock my memories. Then you apologize, because they've already been unlocked. Why?"

Korike tilts his head to the side a bit. "Because...you mentioned last evening, that you didn't want to remember."

Sororia sighs. "Well, I don't. But I did. Do you want to hear about it?"

Korike nods. "Sure...if it's alright."

Sororia smiles again. "I'm sure you would. This will be a long story. Don't interrupt me." She begins. "My mother was a paladin. I suppose I wanted to be like her when I was a girl. So I found a sharp object and practiced outside every day. Stabbing at a tree. Somehow I thought this would make me better."

Sororia pauses for a moment, then continues. "Better at fighting. At sword mastery. At being a paladin. I hadn't even heard of the True Paladin then but I trained hard anyway. At least as hard as a little girl could."

She says, "As you know, paladins are melee and magic fighters. They use holy magic to enhance their attacks. Which automatically makes them the enemies of any creatures of darkness. Of shadow."

Sororia looks at Korike for a moment. "One day--it was noon, I think, and I had just ate lunch--anyway it was a bright sunny day and I was outside with my little dagger. My parents and my kitten were in the house, doing whatever they liked to do. I was proud of my dagger because it was real metal and I had recently gotten it. My mother said I was ready for it. So I trained as often as I could. Hoping that maybe I could get a real sword."

Sororia stops for a very long time, staring at the land spread out beneath the cliff. Then, quietly, she continues. "And then the creatures of darkness came. They were hunting my mother down. They attacked the house. They set it on fire. My mother was probably relaxing, without armor or weapons. The same goes for my father. And..." She glares at Korike. "Well, they all died. Let's put it that way. My kitten, too. And then I tried attacking them and it didn't work out well for me either. There. That's the story."

Korike's eyes widen as his friend finishes her story. "Oh...I am so sorry..."

Sororia stands up. "I won't attack you. Partly because you've been kind to me and partly because you are, admittedly, stronger than me now. But here is where we part ways. Because...you control shadow. You're /dark/." She picks up her sword and starts down the mountain path. "We won't meet again, I hope. Goodbye. Let's leave it at that."

Korike stands up. "But...so what if our elements are opposite? That doesn't mean that we can't be friends!"

Sororia turns around. "Yes, it does. Do you know--the Chambers of Light and Darkness are separated by the Chamber of Balance. Without it, they would destroy each other. There is no balance between us. So we will simply go in our own directions."

Korike shakes his head. "I don't understand. What do you mean?"

Sororia sighs. "If we were to try to be friends, one of us would destroy the other. That is all."

Korike tilts his head to the side, slightly. "What makes you say that?"

Sororia shouts, "Because I want to kill all the dark creatures I see! And I plan to! So if you don't--leave--now, I'll attack you and then one of us is going to die, alright?"

Korike doesn't appear upset, or raise his voice at all. The gnome merely smiles and says "You remind me of myself, of how I felt, when my homeland was attacked."

Sororia shakes her head. "I don't want to hear about it. I'm going now. Goodbye." She goes down the mountain and disappears from sight.
