This is a Healer's Guild RP.

Summary: Sabrina receives word that she is needed in Rynvale by none other than her long time friend, Meri.

Beachside Villa

A worn path edged by beach primrose leads up to the stained-teak porch of this spacious, seaside villa. The foundation is built upon thick stilts that lift this island architecture only a few feet above the sand, allowing that ocean breeze to flow under the house to keep it naturally cool, as well as providing safety from a high tide flood. The interior beyond is simple: wicker and wood furniture, a short bar and bottle rack built into a back wall. Rooms for rest remain behind closed doors, and only a few exotic trinkets line the shelves. Large, open windows are dressed with the vintage, velvet curtains selected long ago by it's original owner, framing that paradise view of tumbling waves and swaying bitter panicum.

Outside, a shell chime clatters softly in the wind.

The old hammock remains, swaying with a rhythm to the neighboring water.

Meri has never had the need to request Sabrina's services in the years, the reasoning for such is one that is often kept under wraps by Meri. Under most circumstances and with most injuries, Meri had the passive and innate ability to draw life force out of those in her immediate vicinity, be it people or plant life. So long as life was around, in a sense Meri would act as a leech. Vampire she was not, blood was not something she craved, a pulse and heartbeat were present, and most people hardly noticed that Meri was thieving from them. This ability was too subtle to do any significant draining of any one individual, but it still served Meri well enough to keep her out of the hair of the healers. Until today. Sabrina should have received word that it was Meri of all people that is in need of her assistance today and boy, Sabrina, when Meri decides she needs fixed she is going to bring a plethora of problems. But first, Meri is inside of the Villa, crashed out on the living room couch and wrapped up in blankets. There would be no one there to answer the door for Sabrina, but she should have been informed this is where she needs to be. The door is unlocked, Meri would be immediately within sight on the couch. The problem that really sent Meri over the edge was he lungful of toxic gases inhaled. More than a lungful. Whatever toxins released by the bugs were bad enough to cause death or convulsions in the weak. Those more resilient, who will took in too much of he caustic chemicals, would be left coughing up blood, to either succumb to the poison or hopefully be treated by it. Bloodied rags sit on the floor immediately in front of the couch within easy reach if Meri needs to hack up a lung. From a previous expedition with the warrior's guild, not the assault on the island that took place yesterday, Meri had a rather close call with a bolt of lightning. It was no direct strike and she is not left with any burns, but the internal injuries are there from phantom pains to a broken collarbone, as the lighting that indirectly stuck her still had enough force to throw her off her feet. In short, Meri is a mess. This mess is not apparent to the naked eye, there are no cuts and bruises to be fixed, it is all internal and Meri looks like s***. Have fun, Sabrina.

Sabrina received word the previous day and took every short cut and favor owed to be here in record time. Se was no stranger to the villa, luckily Meri had decided to crash in the very place the Ardent healer took her vacations- away from the world. It was no wonder Meri sought refuge here. She steps into the main floor to the beachside estate, not minding to call out for where Meri is an shooing away the caretaker with a sharp wave of hand. The Elfess knew what she was looking for, or moreso, feeling for. Each person she came to know carried a signature, once in a certain range she would pick up on Meri’s no matter how distorted it was and without seeing anything but a pile of loosely wrapped blankets she’d make her way to sit on the arm of the couch. She said nothing, immediately, instead closed her eyes to gauge several indicators in a way that was somewhat special to her. Her lungs sounded sticky, the blood in her veins coursing at a sludge-like consistency. Every organ functioned at a level that was bogged down, and since yesterday? Even she didn’t know of anything that reacted this fast naturally. She sucks a little bit of air through her teeth before softly nudging the woman who was not likely to be sleeping through any of this. She can not sense the broken bones, Meri would likely have to tell her about that at another time unless there is some evidence in range of motion that the humanesque woman would perform. The Master Healer removes her gloves, calling out to the caretaker to bring some unsoiled linens, and a bucket if one were handy. “It’s been awhile… glad you called. Wish you didn’t have to.” If Meri were able to look up she would see the slight frame of her friend, dressed in full uniform and clutching a pair of elbow length gloves in pale hands. She would be awarded a kind smile, and she would not be put-off in the slightest by the various fluids surrounding Meri.

Meri, under better circumstances, would have probably lost it at the sound of someone entering the place she was resting in. Circumstances were not better and Meri barely reacted to the fact that someone else was present. It was probably Lita, Meri reasons in the back of her mind. No reason to stir and actually see who it is. Hopefully it is not another one of those bugs or else Meri would basically be a free meal with how much she is not moving. It would not be until Meri actually heard Sabrina's voice and felt that nudge that she stirred, but not from sleep. Sabrina was right, Meri was in far too much pain to even find sleep, as beautiful a thing as it sounded to her. The woman had spent most of the night and it sleep refused to do anything but elude her. Tired eyes would come to rest on Sabrina as lips turned up into a weak smile, for once they are not painted red with lipstick. "You came," Meri said, not that she had doubted that Sabrina would. It was more an exclamation of relief, because perhaps someone could finally help her. Eirik had offered up no solutions, Meri was left in this state most of the night. The words spoken are not at Meri's normal volume, much quieter and softer. "Sorry I made a mess of myself. I hope you put me back together again." Meri did not want to know what would happen if Sabrina could not offer assistance, in fact she refused to dwell on it for long. The broken bone is not going to be spoken of, and no real indication of it would manifest while Meri is cuddling with blankets. "I don't know what toxins those bugs released yesterday..."

Sabrina would find a way to slither into some space between Meri’s head and the arm of the couch, lifting her if need be so that she can rest her head upon the elfess’n lap. She hadn’t done much of anything yet, evidence of her lack of effort in the minty green reflections still gauging the wounded. It wouldn’t really matter how Meri incurred this onset of toxins, as with nearly all of them it was simply a matter of getting them out of the body. “It’s gonna hurt, you know.” Meri was not a stranger to pain, Sabrina knew this, the announcement was more of a formality. The patient was strong, stronger than most, so the options were not disclosed. She knew Meri well enough that she’d rather be done with it and back on her feet than ‘as painless as possible.’ The woman seemed heavier than imagined, just as well considering maneuvering dead weight was right up Sabsy’s alley. “The bugs again, hm?” Same ones, she imagined, from the Sage area. She had dealt with this before. She sighs heavily once she settles in, and the bucket is brought- though handed out like the caretaker thought she might inherit the plague. “Its not contagious.” That elvish tongue was sharp and perfected even beyond Rynvale standards. She takes the bucket and holds it to the side so Meri can muster some energy to at least partially sit up. “I know you feel cold, but you’re not.” She was burning up, actually. “I need you to try and sit, and I will help remove your garments.” When and if Meri found herself able the bucket would be settled between her legs, on the floor at her feet. What ever purge was about to take place, Meri would be tasting most of it.

Meri put nothing but blind trust into Sabrina. If there were options to be hand that might be less painful, Meri was not aware and would not even begin to question. As someone who works with customers and clients that can be sometimes uncooperative and argumentative, Meri has always made it a point to be someone easy to work with. Sabrina's every action is minded. If she wants to slip between the arm and the couch and Meri's head, the psion would let her. The suggestion that she was not really cold is met with a bit of lifted brow but Meri does not argue, she forces herself to sit up and shoves the blankets aside. As for removing her garments, a look is sent to Sabrina not because Meri needed help per say but because she was not entirely sure how far she was to strip down. Clue please. Then there is the bucket that is placed right at her feet. The look Sabrina gets for that is not a pleased one. What could Meri do? "I feel like that is the story of my life. Sorry Meri but this is going to hurt..."

Sabrina both winces and smiles in one go. “I can make it more comfortable, if you want it to last longer. Its really up to you.” She gestures for Meri to remove her top only. “I just need access to your torso.” She would situate herself at Meri’s back, striding herself just behind her as she could more easily assist Meri whilst keeping her from straining too much. Once the appropriate articles were removed small bare hands would find themselves on the outsides of Meri’s ribcage. Her hands were hot, but it was unlikely if Meri would take notice given the feverish temperatures her own body took on to help fight the toxins invading her system. “If its too much, just say so, hm?” What Meri could not see of the half-blind woman behind her was the twist of color shifting in her eyes. What once presented as a welcoming mint in her left eye, and that cloudy blindness in her right, would vortex into a more demonic feature- one trait shared with that hellhound, Ro. From such harmless appendages would come a deepening heat. It is likely the artist would find herself choking back an urge to cough but this was kind-of the point. Healing energies were forced into the woman, and Sabrina would do her best to hold on for dear life- so to speak. The target was primarily the lungs- starting at the source was a habitual practice. Some time after this was through the Healer would administer slight alterations to her methods to target surrounding organs. The lungs had direct access to purge externally, so it was important to rid as much infection and toxins as possible this way. The stomach would come nest, neither procedure more preferable than the other but at least her stomach wouldn’t burn with that sharp flu-like tearing that would come from de-coating the tender tissues.

Meri shook her head for sarcasm aside, Sabrina had it right. The painless route would not be the quickest route but the quickest route was likely the one that Meri needed. Suck it up, woman. Today Meri is wearing some loose fitting button down shirt instead of her usual bodice, it would not be hard for Sabrina to gain access to Meri's ribs. All that needed to be done was to pull the fabric up and over her shoulders, not something Meri was shy about. She was a tattoo artist, the body was a normal thing to her. The heat from Sabrina's hands was not felt, another correct line of thinking from a woman who clearly knows her job. Master healer for a reason. The pain would start in her chest, leaving Meri choking and gagging like she wanted to cough up that lung but she could not quite, that act was stopped by Sabrina's efforts. The woman found herself looking at the bucket at her feet, half wondering when all of the bile would come up, out and into the bucket. That is a line of thinking that Meri does not finish. The shift in focus from lungs to stomach gives Meri temporary relief from the pain, very temporary. Until Sabrina and her work continued, that pain shifted from lung to stomach and it was a sensation that earned an audible groan from Meri.

Sabrina didn’t stop when Meri would finish emptying the contents of both major organs into that bucket. But where there was admirable amounts of discomfort in the previous task the following would be one of the true healing. The riddance of the vial substances was only half the task, now it would be the point of purpose for the visit. When bits of internal organs are messed with there is no choice but to experience the raw pain associated with bringing the soft and normally untouched areas to good health. It would be difficult to put into words what Meri may or may not feel turning and writhing inside her, but it was no more than oxygen starved and contaminated cells regenerating at an alarming rate to set themselves in proper order. Sabrina’s gift was simple, a surge of life-energy much like Meri was accustomed to on a regular but far more powerful. This forces the body to take initiative in healing itself at a rate that is easily mistaken as magical. It is not. Nothing about the Ardent’s touch is anything but natural. Accelerated at an alarming and exponential pace.

Meri had been of the mindset that the worst was probably done and over with. She knew that pain could be significantly more intense than what she had felt when Sabrina was treating lung and stomach. The contents of her stomach are emptied with Meri mostly managing to make it into the bucket at her feet, but the bile is not thrown up in one clean yack. Naw, Meri would barf a few times, dry-heave more than once, and then finally she would be finished. They were done, right? Meri was already starting to feel much better! ....But no, Sabrina demonstrates that the real work was about to begin. When Sabrina said this would hurt, she was not exaggerating in the slightest. It didn't matter that these two women had a very similar style of healing, though one is passive and the other clearly more active and controlled. What Sabrina was doing was accelerated to a rate that even her body was not used to processing. It was a shock to say the least that had Meri feeling like maybe she was being murdered over being healed. The pain was excruciating but Meri and that pride of hers, she refused to scream or cry. There might be some whimpering, but she would try and tough girl this out.

Sabrina had released Meri at some point. The pain that lingered overshadowing the fact that she had let go until a hand pulls some fallen tresses from Meri’s face. She felt for the woman, because she had experienced what she was going through on some level before. The Elfess wasn’t heartless, though it may seem so right now. The garments are eased downward, soft brushes against the fabric at her sides said there would be no more. Slowly she would move herself, allowing Meri to adopt a fetal position if she wished and taking this time of shock to clean up the mess that was just made. The evidence of the use of her gift would be apparent for a few hours, and she did do her best to avoid eye contact with Meri- experience has earned her the name of ‘Devil’ more than once.

Meri definitely wanted to curl up in the fetal position but she was resisting doing that much, that woman and her stubborn pride sometimes. The urge to lay down is too strong to entirely overcome, even if Meri would not draw her knees into her chest and curl up into a ball that way. Try as Sabrina might to avoid eye contact, Meri still manages to gain a glance off the odd eye that has manifested in the wake up Sabrina using her gifts. Ignorance may earn her the name Devil from men who cannot respect and appreciate what may have been done for them or their loved ones but no words come from Meri. It would not be an illogical assumption to think that perhaps she is just keeping her thoughts to herself but Sabrina should know Meri better than that, exhaustion was ultimately winning out. After spending most of the night tossing and turning, sleep would claim Meri once that pain she was feeling finally started to subside. "Thank you," Meri whispers, in voice that may not even be audible but the artist had hoped that she had found the strength to make her voice carry far enough to reach Sabrina. Putting more effort into speaking up, Meri goes on to say, "I don't know if Eirik is still on the island...but please tell him thank you too. Thank you to both of you."

Sabrina notes the distinct differences of people not saying something, and avoiding saying something. She appreciated Meri held no ill-omened regard to the residual discoloration of the healer’s gaze. It did nothing to stop her from redirecting it when she could. ‘Thank you’ was heard; keen ears and a silent room helped a lot with that. “I will.” Her own voice was tired, drained rather quickly to perform such a complete heal and in record time. Friends earned certain privileges that others did not, whether it was a conscious decision or not. Habitually, Sabrina healed people ‘enough’ to kickstart their own road to recovery. This went far beyond that and with some rest (broken bones aside) Meri would be right as rain. Quietly the Elfess continued to clean the area surrounding the artist. The last thing anyone wants to wake up to is a pile of their own fluids.

Meri's broken collarbone was the least of Meri's problems, that had been given enough time to heal with Meri's own natural ability that it in another week or so there would be no evidence of even that injury. Sabrina's efforts are appreciated, though admittedly Meri feels bad to an extent. Like some sort of lazy bum who should be cleaning up after herself, I mean she puked up that bile so it seemed only fair she clean it up. Except moving was not something that Meri was keen on doing at this point in time, she would rather lay here, let her eyes fall shut, listen to the sound of her own breathing. There was a marked difference in that sound, it was nice to breath clear and easy without the taste of blood lingering in the back of the throat. "Welcome to stay here and rest," no promises being made, but they very well could be the final words that Meri says to Sabrina tonight before sleep takes hold of the blonde.
