Part of the Larketian Fault Lines Arc

Summary: Chisel and Ameno arrive to find Artia steadily working through Larket's plethora of injured persons. The dryad contemplates how her unique abilities might help, while Ameno aids directly.

Larket: Sickbay

Artia rushed home as soon as the letter arrived for her at the mini castle, it took a while to get there, but luckily the gryphin she had picked to give her a ride shorten the distance by massive amounts. Walking through Larket seeing the damage done to her home, shattered the witches heart. While she was gone, worrying about the last month of her pregnancy she felt she abandoned her home. Then she gave birth and didn’t have the strength to leave to go to Larket, she was grateful Sabrina reached out to her. The Apothecary would never want to leave Larket in this sort of condition now. The sickbay was lined with people on beds, even the sleeping chambers were covered with injuries. Artia had her white robe around her, so no mess or other bodily fluids would get on her outfit underneath. She had to leave her month old daughter in the nursery at Brennia’s leavin Zachael stocked with bottoles full to the nipple of her breast milk. She could tell now that she would be here a very long time, if she had to she would put more milk in bottles and have them delivered at home. It had been hours already, her healers aids were already feeling the exhaustion of the nonstop moving and assisting others. Ikked going from bed to bed checking on charts and running off to the stock room, back and forth she went. Artia missing her infant horribly, but kept on moving, she had just left the surgery area as the witch had to remove a leg that could not be healed or mended. Half of it was already hanging off, goddess she would do anything to give her healer aids a break. Washing her hands off, and redoing her long dark red hair to stay out of her face. Taking in a deep inhale, “Ikked, I need you to run to the café down the street.” Reaching into her garter, “Give them this bag of gold, bring in a basket full of sugary foods and as much coffee as you can. We will be here a while. Also find the child Suzy, her family will began prepping my ranch so we can place those that are fine that just need a few hours rest. We need to make room.” Placing her hands on her lower back as the female stretched, “Mary, go take these forms to those people waiting outside to be seen. Take one other healer with you, start evaluating everyone please. That way we can start breaking people up in groups by how badly they are injured, from minor to severe. Are we getting the extra muscle? We need help moving people around,” The witch paled for a second, and then regainined composure. “If not see if those that are not that badly injured can help.” Off she went towards the entrance, picking up the chart on the newest patient.

Ameno entered the sickbay on the count of his wound needing to be healed quicker for more training however, his worry of his own self dropped immediately upon entering the sickbay area and soon found himself helping moving people, to beds and to the floor, as healers moved around. At a glance he was very draconian in nature sharing many physical traits to dragons while maintaining an upright position, like that of a bipedal, his skin or scales a whitish color and about 6' tall, he wore a hooded cloak and blue vest and sleeves and pants all dark blue in color. He glanced at the red haired healer who he assumed to be in charge, but would only turn to her if he was needed. Which he would readily do.

Chisel appeared by the doorway. It was rare for the dryad to even leave the garden. She has taken residence inside Artia's farm when Kelovath left Larket and Macon took charge. It was probably the best days for her, her curse has been cured... sort of and she can control her powers better. However due to recent occurrences she had to leave. The earthquake has left quite a number of dead bodies and alot more wounded. For a forest spirit such as herself, they are merely fertilizers, enriching the earth as they decompose. No real reason for her to help. That is ofcourse if only the earthquake hasn't damaged the garden. The soil held together as numerous trees with strong roots kept them intact but the walls of the garden was damaged badly, The ground has also shifted so much that she had to readjust. She did attempt to pull the earth back together with roots of numerous trees to no avail. Leaving a massive gaping hole within the garden. However something escaped. On the sealed off section where she lives, where all deadly flora lives, the walls have cracked. A number of plants have even grown outside, pollen escaping into the air and some of them even mixing with the sewer water which would easily circulate into the city. She did her best to patch the hole but on the way here she found two people with poisons in their system. Bringing them along into the sick bay.

Artia had evaluated the new patients chart, “Mr Robinson, how long have you been injuried? Where did you get injuried? It says here that you do not remember? Perhaps you were out drinking and passed out?” The man laying in the bed, smirked and just plainly shrugged his shoulders. She had hit it on the nail, “Alright then.” She had moved her hands to grip his ankles making her hands grip onto his person, “Tell me if you feel any of this?” She was checking to see if any of his nerves were damaged, in the chart it read that he couldn’t even move his toes, which she already had a feeling since a wall fell upon his back. Once her hands reached the top of his thighs, and he had not said a word that he felt anything. “Mr. Robinson, you are paralyzed from the waist down. When the wall during the quake fell upon your back, it damage your spine. There is a surgery we can attempt to do, but as of right now..you need to have the people that brought you here take you back home. Meet with Rachael on your way out to schedule a return visit.” She turned around, “We need him moved out to the discharge area please!” That is when a stranger she had never met before was volunteering his strength. Quirking a red brow, she walked up to him. “Its nice to see volunteers in this time of need, if you could. Move Mr. Robinson out front, his friends are awaiting him. I am done with him.” Then to the next bed, as she reached from the chart she could see the problem plan as day. This person had a punctured lung, and was drowning upon her own blood. “We have a punctured lung!” As soon as she yelled that two healers ran off to the supply room bringing a basket full of tools for Artia to use, since the cursed topaz around her neck most of her healing magic had left her. She was forced to use most of the old ways, without magic. Grabbing a razor and a hard tube she made the cut, sticking in the tube. Quickly placing a bowl at the other end of the tube, as the blood emptied out of the lung, “Rush this person to surgery.” She smelled the scent of sugary foods and coffee, knowing Ikked was back without having to even see her. “Ikked, you and these to girls drink the coffee quick. We have a ruptured lung, and need to repair the broken rib that has moved into it. Make haste as much blood that is coming out of the lung, the less time we have.” Moving to the next person she saw Chisel, a face she had not seen in months almost a year since she was to have a baby. Seeing the two people she brought in with here, they did not look good. Rushing up to her, “Chisel, what happened to them? Their injuries look much different then these from the quake.”

Ameno was quick to jump to help, and assisted in carrying mr. Robinson outside to the discharge area, and quickly moved back in after getting him situated, and returning he scooted past the several dead patients, and began lifting them to another room for the dead to be identified and or buried. Returning from that task he would then use his frosty breath to rechill ice packs.

Chisel could see everyone is busy but assisting them might only cause more fear. Not everyone knows her or her powers and such might cause people dying of heart attack if she performs any. She turned to Artia and said, "Earthquake ruined the garden walls, people began looting the fruit trees. Seals broke, pollen began escaping into the air and the broken water pipes. These two, I think they inhaled it or drank water from a faucet. Medicinal herbs can be made but I can only provide them but cannot make them. You do know how I despise seeing plant life crushed even if it is to use to save a life. The forest are also a bit restless, the damage city walls and scent of blood is luring animals in." Wonders if she need to inform the king of this, or maybe just allow nature to do its job.

Artia offered a smile to Ameno as he walked by, but was soon informed that the male helping had the gift of ice breath. That caused a brow to raise, “Put him to use, have him use the ice breath on those with swelling. But make sure he knows how to without giving frost bite we don’t need that ontop of everything else going on.” The female nods, and moves up to Ameno, “Sir, we could use more of that frosty breath trick, can you do it to chill swollen limbs. Or would that cause frost bite? Our Apothecary said if you could, do that was well. I can show you who to do that for in-between the moving bodies around.” Artia listened closely to Chisel, her jaw dropped as she rubbed her hand over her chest. The plants she kept hidden out of the way of the good plants were making there debut. “Chisel, can we meet in the garden tomorrow? I have a few more hours of work here and then I can come and help you. Is Macon still running Larket, or has Kelovath returned? I will whisper to you an encantation to summon the ents to you to help you guard the garden, if the garden is damagaed and people are abusing what the flora willingly gives, but taking it greedily we need to help the flora. What type of animals are coming in? What does the plant look like that is spreading pollen? We need to meet with the council as soon as we can to address this, we might be in for another disaster worse then what the fermin did.” Of course all this was spoken so softly that only Chisel could hear it, not to start a panic. “If the plant is dying, and it has the herb on it we need. Ask the plant for its blessing to end its suffering to give a chance to another life, and in return when that person is dead we will return the body back to the earth to continue the cycle of life.”

Ameno nodded about the frost breath to the nurse but was hesitant on the direct putting the breath on arms. "I can chill cloths and such and make ice, but it would be likely bad if I applied directly, and really lethally bad, if um, we used my blood to chill them." he said assisting the nurse in however she decided.

Chisel frowns a little, confused why the woman seems to be secretive of these things. "Macon is the current leader but I doubt he currently holds power after this disaster. It would take a while for his government to find its footing once again. I haven't checked which plant has caused this as I patched up the gaping hole as best as I can but I doubt it was only one plant, Might be a mixture of numerous ones?" Listening to her as she shook her head. "Not a single plant is dying, I made sure of such. Same reason why I don't want to harvest them but if you insist, I'll try to get as much herbs as I can. Hopefully enough to cure these two and the rest who would be poisoned soon. The seals I made are merely temporary, it is only a matter of time for the pollen to find cracks upon them and escape." She nodded at her and waited, if the woman has nothing else to say, she'll leave.

Artia :: The healer aid was excited that they had a living ice box basically to help out. Most the patients have been helped, and with his help she had moved people around even faster and out the door. Artia kept her attention on Chisel, as the others were finishing up, then night shifts would be assigned. The witch sighed deeply, “For now, we need to keep this between us. If panic rises people might think it is wise to just set fire to these plants, which would only spread the ashes and infect many others. Do not harm the ones thriving still, my ranch I have many hanging up dried. Check there first, I hate having to kill flora that is so a live. But if we have to, we will with promise to replant its seedlings in return. “ The thought of having to cause more death, even with the flora visibly disturbed her. She walked to the side and began writing a letter to the king himself. “Even if he isn’t in power at the moment, the council still needs to meet. We need to maybe build an enchanted green house around these plants. Use moss to fill the cracks? I. I just do not know what to do as I am not able to come there at this moment, I am stuck here. Please let me know anything else changes, in the hot spring in my ranch there are healing crystals. If have to, plant them at the base of any plant life dying. Just in case

Ameno worked for a couple hours more at the sick bay tending to the ice boxing needs and paitent moving, before being forced to retire, as he knew he would likely have other things he needed to do in the morning.

Chisel simply nods but was clearly stopped for a second when the woman said about killing the plant. She doesn't like it one bit. But she kept a neutral face for now. She nodded, "I'll try to look. Maybe I could ask the plants to shed off some of their leaves as well. Also, to answer your question earlier. Animals who prey on meat and blood are walking outside the city walls." She bowed and finally left the woman be, going back to her garden to seal it further.

Artia heart was in shatters now, extreme predators were at the walls waiting for there chance. After the others had left, she made a list for those to stay over and work. She kept her name on the list, before heading into the back to begin the cleaning process of tools used.
