RP:Gossiping Gals And Delicious Drinks

From HollowWiki

Summary: Sisters, Talyara and Lanara, reminisce about their past dating turmoils, and enjoy some rum. Taly then announces a secret that greatly upsets her older sibling, but the two decide to ignore the matter after much deliberation, and plan to have a slumber party.

Talyara throws open the tavern door looking a little worse for the wear. She has paint splatters on her denim shorts and top, sawdust stuck in her unruly locks, and a bloodied bandage wrapped around her hand. With a huff the elf meanders over to the bar and throws herself down in a vacant stool without even casting the other patrons a glance. "Rum. Make it a double," she orders without preamble.

Lanara stares down the dartboard at the opposite side of the bar, her slender back pressed against the wooden beam, and her two front teeth digging lightly into her lower lip. A mischievous glint is evident in those chocolate hues, as her left hand is lifted and a flick of her wrist sends the dart spiraling through the air. As if on cue, at that precise moment in time, Mesthak just happens to be passing by the board, a tray of drinks in his grasp. The dart expertly whisks through his slightly balding hair, narrowly missing his right eye, and delves into the board with a soft ‘ping’ as the bartender topples to the floor, drinks flying everywhere. Lana stifles a giggle as she crosses her arms and is about to say something witty to the barkeep, when her wrist begins to tingle. A glance to the right confirms her suspicions, as she sneaks up on her younger sibling and pulls her into a quick hug. “Taly… Why do you look like you just went bull riding?”

Talyara is nearly tugged off of her stool by the embrace of her sister, but the younger elf pats Lanara's arm affectionately. She hadn't yet shared her surprise for her sister so she anxiously gnaws at the inside of her cheek as she considers an opposing story. "Oh! This?" She asks gesticulating to her appearance. "I was just, uh...crafting!"

Lanara narrows her eyes, as she could easily tell when her sister was fibbing. “Don’t be a wicked little witch! You better tell me. Did someone hurt you? Do I have to hurt someone?” Giving her sister a lingering once over, her cheeks suddenly turn a bright shade of red, and she erupts into a fit of contagious giggles. “TALY! Why are you keeping this from me?! Who is the lucky fellow? He must be something to have you going out in public… All disheveled from some barn loving...” A wink would ensue as Nancy delivers the double shot of rum, which Lana helps herself to, and expertly tosses to the back of her throat. Mesthak, is still cleaning up the glass, and muttering beneath his breath, as he intermittently glares at the sisters.

Talyara frowns at her sister as Lanara snags her rum and easily waves for Nancy to bring her another which hopefully would not be pilfered. At Lana's assessment, though, Taly lets out a small snort which sends an errant lock of hair floating across her face. "I only -wish-that was true, dear sister. I suspect you've had much more luck in the love making department than I have. Oh the stories I hear about your derrière..."

Lanara gasps at her sister’s playful rhetoric, but she shakes her head, and grows somber for a moment. “I –wish- that were true, sister! I haven’t been intimate with a man in nearly two years. I’m not ashamed or proud of that. I… I find it hard to get close to anyone. And my arse is known for being shapely! Not for getting used!” A chuckle escapes her, as she tucks a rogue lock of hair behind her sister’s tapered ear, and pinches Taly on the cheek. “You will find love again, sister. I know it. You are a catch.”

Talyara quickly grabs the rum from Nancy before she can even place it down upon the counter, ensuring that Lanara doesn't steal that one as well. It seems both sisters’ are adept in drinking because the younger one easily shoots down the liquor as well. She offers a sweet smile to Lanara as she tucks a lock of hair behind her ear and pinches her cheek. "I don't know about that," she confesses with a sigh. "I will die an old hag on the woods alone with twenty cats."

Lanara opts for a glass of water the second time around, the elf not being one for getting hammered, at least not in a bar full of strangers. Those that knew the woman knew she rarely if ever would drink, but since being revived she picked up a thirst that could rarely be filled. The nights were long and lonely, and the warm ale often helped her defeat a sleepless night. But, she knew when enough was enough, and being the slightly older sibling, she knew to be somewhat responsible. “What’s wrong with cats? I never met an animal I didn’t like. Now, men? Most of them can’t be trusted. They cheat, like, play games with your heart, and they make us weak. I’m open to love, I suppose. But I do thrive for my independence. You… You were always the more dependent type personality. I can find you a mate.”

Talyara immediately shakes her head at Lanara's suggestion. "Nope," she says defiantly. "I would rather die alone than you find me a mate." Harsh, but true. "Remember when we were teenagers and you set me up with that boy who walked all the way from a neighboring city with his cousin? Then he stabbed him with a fork and claimed a group of men stole his tuition money!" Taly rolls her eyes and signals to Nancy that she would like another shot. "I love you dear sister, but I'll wait to find a man organically."

Lanara snorts and swallows her water awkwardly, and so she ends up cackling and choking for the next several minutes. Eventually, she lifts her hear, tears in her eyes from laughing so hard, as she slaps Taly on the shoulder. “He wasn’t –that- bad… Though he was very proud of all the warts that covered his lips. He even showed us the ones on his genitals, over dinner! I’m glad you didn’t end up with him… Though… The Baker wasn’t such a bad fellow. Too bad he liked boys and not girls.” A sigh, a shrug, and a wicked grin are given to Taly, before Lana begins to loosely braid her long, silken, locks. “Hm. Well, maybe we can try double dating. Then it’s not so awkward. We can always trade dates if we like, or just plan a reason why we have to bail. What… What about that man whose prunes you used to polish? Ranok, I think it was? He gave me a kitten once. But Konar ran off when I blew up your cottage and died…” Frowning, she takes another sip of water, and awaits a response.

Talyara shudders at the memory of those pus filled pustules and gags into her fresh glass of rum. "He was horrifying. And even if the baker did like girls you sent me to the wrong place! You told us both to meet at the clock but didn't specify which one." Taly gives her head a small shake and opts to sip her liquor this time. "We could try double dating but I'm sure that will only add in disaster," she adds with a mischievous grin. A wrinkle of her nose is given and then a sigh. "I -worked- for Ranok and he hates me."

Lanara shakes her head, in frustration. “No! You got it all wrong! You ended up at the boatyard and the Baker ended up at the restaurant. I –told- you where to go! You just live to upset my attempt at matchmaking! Well… Ranok rescued a kitten. How bad could he be? He does have those silky ears…” A pause is given as she studies her sister, chocolate hues locking onto emerald before she excitedly blurts out, “I got it! What about Krice?! You two have always been super close. Is he forever friend-zoned? I think he fancies you. He rescues you enough!” Smiling at her accident-prone and trouble seeking sister, she drums her knuckles against the bartop. “What ever happened to that thong-wearing wrestler I set you up with? Didn’t he have some sort of weird dating angle? Oh! I remember. He used to sing you weird songs!”

Talyara rolls her eyes again as Lanara attempts to shift the blame once more away from herself. "Your note only said to meet at the clock. There were many clocks, Lana!" She adds with a chuckle. The witch opts to remain mum on Ranok's ears but shakes her head emphatically at the suggestion of Krice. "He only sees me as a friend, first of all. And second of all, I haven't seen him in a bit." Talyara sighs once more and goes back to sipping her rum. "You had that guy following me around and blasting music from some magical box at all hours of the night!"

Lanara giggles, finishing the glass of water, and crossing her long legs. “Well. I’m glad they didn’t work out. They didn’t deserve you, sister. Just like that Emrith! He was by far the worst you ever dated. He didn’t respect you, he broke your heart –twice- and he nearly had me killed by a carrier hawk! Speaking of flying things… Have you considered dating Fangel?” Lana was referring to Irenic; of course, being that he was capable of flying and was a vampire. “You do have choices. Are you not crushing on anyone, Taly?”

Talyara decides it's time to chug the rest of that rum when conversation turns to Emrith. She didn't want to talk about him. "Who is Fangel?" The witch asks after shooting down her remaining rum, unsure of who her sister speaks of. She didn't remember meeting anyone by that name. To the latter question, Taly gives her head a small shake. "No. I don't really go out or talk to people anymore," she confesses in a low voice.

Lanara shrugs, as though she wasn’t sure of Fangel’s true identity, either. “I don’t know. Big, blonde, muscle guy. White wings. Fluttered into my birthday party, gave you the gift that was intended for me, and then flew off. That guy? And… I know. I know he hurt you and that you are afraid to love again. And after what happened to us concerning Father… But… Taly you are made to love others. Out of the two of us, you are solely built from love. You deserve it. I’m not really interested in anyone, either. Before I died, I had a crush on Leo, but that was a long time ago. And I don’t think my feelings were ever reciprocated.”

Talyara vaguely remembered the man that Lanara was referring to but didn't recall his name either; however, she was pretty sure it wasn't Fangel. Still, she sighs one more and gives her sister a sad smile. "I might have been meant to give love, but I'm not sure about receiving it." Still, she leans over and pats her sister's thigh. "You told me about him. He was a jerk and didn't deserve you anyway."

Lanara nods, a small smile on her face, though her expression was rather downcast. “Thank you, sister. But you only say these things because you are my kin.” Taking Taly’s hand, she gives it a gentle squeeze, and meets her gaze. “You are meant to give –and- receive love, sister. Sometimes you just have to give it time. I’ve found that love always comes to you when you least expect it. I met Krystan when I had all but give up on ever finding love. When he passed away, a few months later, Des and I became friends and it developed into something more. I have had two loves in my life, and you have had three. Who says it must stop at that number? Maybe the one you are meant to be with hasn’t even arrived in these lands, yet? Or maybe you need to be more open to those you see often?”

Talyara bites her lower lip and shifts uncomfortably in her seat. Emerald eyes dart away from her sister as she debates on whether to confess a secret to her. In the end she sighs and leans forward to whisper in Lanara's ears so others cannot overhear her.

Talyara whispered to Lanara, "I think Emrith wants me back..."

Lanara is all half-smiles and sad eyes, until her sister’s breath caresses her neck and soft words are whispered into her pointed ear. As though she felt threatened, the elf immediately recoils from her siblings touch, and stares wide-eyed and speechless. Several silent moments tick by until Lana regains her composure, though her hands are now clenched into fists and her cheeks a bright crimson hue. “Have you lost your mind?! You are considering… HIM?! Taly… I thought that the time you had alone would help you to reflect… And to mature as a woman. To realize your self-worth. Have you no respect? I… You wouldn’t have told me this if you were not considering it… And although I would love to twist his arrogant head off of his pathetic body, I won’t stand in the way of what you presume will bring you happiness.” Lana sighs, heavily, and her big brown eyes fill with tears that threaten to spill over her lightly tanned cheeks. “He will destroy you again. You must know that. I hate to see you hurting…”

Talyara waits silently for Lanara's reaction and nearly toppled off her stool when it eventually comes. She lets her say her piece though, wincing at the appropriate moments before releasing another sigh and fixing Lanara with a pleading look. "I am not trying to anger you, Sister, I am merely being honest. We are only friends but he did confess his desires towards me." Taly gnaws on the inside of her cheek again as she knots her fingers together. "I do not plan on it but I would be lying if I didn't say it was tempting in my lonely hours. You know how I feel about him..."

Lanara narrows her eyes, her anger visibly rising with each passing moment. “Taly. You are not left over lasagna that is kept in the ice box for a later date when you are starving and you don’t care if it’s expired or not. He –uses- you. Physically and emotionally. He only wants you when it’s convenient for him. He also left you. Twice. Who is to say it won’t happen again? He nearly killed me once! He nearly beat you that one time! And he doesn’t even like your son! What about Bachias? Does your scat-smearing child mean nothing? I love you, sister. With all of my heart. But… I am telling you from my feelings on this, and from his history of breaking your heart… This is a reckless idea. The worst you’ve ever had. I know it’s appealing because you are lonely. But be with someone that is worthy of your love. Someone who will cherish every breath you take. Someone who won’t replace you with another blood-sucker. Please. Just reconsider. I can’t make this decision for you, and I do believe he is attracted to you, I mean… How could he not be?! But… You want him to love you with his whole heart, for eternity. Not just for a moment in time. Use your head on this one.” Sighing, Lana swallows hard, and clears her throat. “I am lonely, too, sister. Very lonely. But… I am careful not to fall into the lap of someone who literally tore my heart into pieces. I… I have to go, it’s late and I have to find a place to sleep tonight.”

Talyara hangs her head low, slightly in shame as Lana continues to chastise her. It was not surprising, and frankly these were the same arguments that she herself had been replaying in her mind. "I know," she says quietly. "I know what you are saying is true." Taly moves to weave her arm with her sister's leaning her head against Lana's shoulders. "Come stay with me at Emi's tonight. It's just me there."

Lanara hesitates, though she could never stay angry at her little sister for very long. With a sigh, she runs her fingers through Taly’s tousled locks and kisses her on the temple. “I love you, that’s all. I worry about you. You are all I have left, Taly. I don’t want to lose you or see you get hurt, in any way. And… Alright. It will do us both good to have a slumber party again. I will go get some snacks at Mrs. Mallards! I know where she hides the key. You go ahead and I will meet you there in a little bit, okay? Maybe we can make a spa night out of it? I’m all excited now!” Lana stands up, slightly tipsy from the rum, though she quickly regains her balance, and drops some coins on the bartop to pay their fare. The elf had calmed down since the whole Emrith topic, and the thought of a sleepover party has her quickly grabbing her few belongings and heading for the door. “See you at Emi’s!” With that said, the woman exits the tavern, a slight bounce in her step.
