RP:Frostmaw merchants guild store building walls and floor

From HollowWiki

This is a Merchant's Guild RP.

Setting Merchant Area

The area here is littered with merchants, vendors, and stalls and seems to be a main point of trading in town, as you pass, the large frost giants show and offer you goods, however most of the things they have to offer would do you no good. One merchant in particular in the area however may have some interesting things, as you glance over you see a rather large, overweight, frost giant wearing clothes that do not really seem to fit. The large giants belly hangs bare from beneath his much too small animal hide top. The giants pants are ripped and tight, far too short for him to be wearing as the bottoms of the pants stop at mid shin, while he wears no shoes but only a pair of home-made rabbit slippers, ears still attached. Upon the frost giants head you see a horned helmet with one horn broken off at the base, the frost giant simply waves with a grin and shouts outs out "Come To Buy Vizzle's Items!?". With those words he rushes to your side with a broken down cart, which he heavily drags, and persistently follows you in this area until you leave or look at his current items, that may or may not update frequently. To your east you see a road, while to your west, you see as well, another road.

Sabrina is here with a Lower Hellhound named Rohk.

Starting work on the walls and floor

Sophie 's frostgiant friend Jefri has brought his brother Anders to help. They begin securely bolting logs vertically, for the four corners of the rectangular building, then bolting logs horizontally, to form the walls. Jefri suggests to the smaller people who might have trouble carrying around the tree trunks for the walls to talk the smaller planks sawn ready, and start putting in the joists to support the floor, then the floorboards themselves.

Sabrina was lucky to have arrived with Rohk. The massive beast was not eager to please but he went off to stand ready to tow and heave if necessary. Sabrina found herself to be useless, not dressed for the frigid air but not to the point of freezing beyond being uncomfortable just yet. She took direction under someone who looked in charge, chartering some unimportant looking planks to the workers positioning floorboards aside the massive trunks. She couldn't make sense of the layout, despite her father's teachings on Architecture; a subject that bored her to bits. Had she known one day this would be applicable she would have studied harder.

Sophie is well wrapped up in furs, having been spending most of her time for the past couple of months at the refugee camp for the sage elves. There has been much to do there healing those wounded in the war with the drow, and helping the frostgiants strengthen this land's defenses against the evil parasite. She is delighted to see her friend Sabrina, and helps her carry some floorboards over to the elven carpenters. "How have you been dear one?" Jefri and Anders are slowly building the tree trunk walls higher.

Sabrina glanced over to see how Rohk was faring, smiling only because he looked almost proud as he dragged timbers with the largest of the giants, almost as if he felt at home with beings as oversized as he. Her attention is swayed by Sophie and her smile deepens. "Well, enough I suppose. I have news of a mate at last, so my happiness has grown exponentially. I have not however come along any further in the mastering, or moving of water. I feel as though I am merely human at times and it is disheartening." The racist comment was not meant to sound as harsh as it came out, but Sabrina had little understanding of what she deemed less fortunate beings. She moved another section of well measured planks to the carpenters and keen eyes searched the colorless terrain for a stray hammer so she may help place them in their respective positions as the pile was growing faster than it could possibly dissipate.

Sophie :: Jefri and Anders, take a break for a snack, and throw Rhok a huge lump of roast mammoth meat. Sophie, finds some hammers, unfortunately they are giant sized tools, very difficult for Sabrina and her to use. Seeing her problem one of the elves points her in the direction of the elven carpentry tools She soon returns with a hammer and a tub of floorboard nails for them both. Sabrina sizes up the 'miniature' sized nails and eyes the floorboards meant to support the weight of any being that may need to stand upon it. This wasn't going to work. Still, she heeds the efforts of her dear friend Sophie and begins to nail the slender-toothpick-like nails into the frozen wood. This was hard work, and despite the biting cold Sabrina had already began to break a sweat. The sweat on her frail body began crystallizing under the extreme climate, unbeknownst to her, and she kept working on. Rohk enjoyed his snack with the giants whilst the women continued on. Sabrina couldn't feel her fingers. Juniper said OOC, "Remember, everything in moderation, but not TOO much moderation."

Jefri brings the women some larger nails. "These will hold those floorboard in place a lot longer than those you are using, ladies. He and Anders then go back to building the walls higher. Yaralian one of the eleven carpenters brings Sabrina a mug a warm tea. "You look like you could do with this." It is a huge giant sized mug of tea purchased from Vizzles. Sophie's gloves are keeping her own hands from freezing too badly, though the elven lycan is feeling some discomfort still. She takes the larger nails, and continues nailing the floorboards to the joists below.

Rohk doubles as a fine heater

Sabrina looks at the tea which had been touched by the kind carpenter and struggled to take what was handed to her. She had a hang-up about touching things like this but she did not want to appear rude. She smiled and said thank you, and when she thought no one was looking she tipped a bit of the fluid on the bare white snow. The stain left behind was covered as quickly as possible and she brings the mug to her lips to mock sipping liquid like a polite person should. If anything it was warming her hands, but with lips soon bluing she gave away her secret that the rim of that offering never touched her lips. Sabrina rests the hefty mug on a saw-stand not far away and quietly gets back to work. She had only hoped the day would end faster if she worked harder. The sweat had dripped into her hair, causing long strands of blackened icicles dangling shamelessly from her head. Rohk would not steal her pride and so assumed his lazy self to stand idly by her side- of course because he was against manual labor. He watched his new friends with little regret and gave a shimmy to get his scales to vibrate more consciously. His reddened armory hide gave off a fair glow; even the snow began to form pools of crystal clear water in his footprints. And so the heated half-demon stood there, lazy and ablaze while he warmed not only Sabrina, but the workers who labored on in his lazy and entirely self-serving presence. Anyone who said otherwise would be scoffed that he would be so caring as to demean himself to a wall heater n anyone's time of need.

Sophie moves a little closer to Rohk, very glad of the warmth the hell hound is emanating. When her arms start to ache, she takes a break, and buys a -huge- bowl of snow rabbit stew from Vizzle. When she returns to work, the floor is almost complete, a couple of gaps being left as space for the installation of the pot bellied stoves that will take over from Rohk when the store is finished. As the frostgiant's, having to use the ladder they made yesterday now, continue to make the walls climb higher. The elves start varnishing the floorboards with a hardwearing gloss and invite Sophie and Sabrina to help them.

For a while it was push broom wars

Sabrina was happy; not only to be warm but to retire from the strenuous activity of lifting and nailing and to move on to the varnish. She took the varnish brush of which was lying near her and dipped the end of the brush delicately into the hardwearing gloss and a nearby carpenter let out a small chuckle. He brought out a long rectangular bucket with a push broom and dipped that makeshift tool into the varnish and began directly sweeping the floor to an even sheen. Sabrina understood his point, had she gone on with that tiny toothbrush-of-a-tool she would have been there until the end of days. Smiling she followed his lead, pushing the sloshy mixture around until it lay evenly on the floorboards before her. For a moment it was push-broom-wars, where they battled for floor space in the middle of the large area until their medium had began to become too sticky to slide upon. They smoothed out the rough edges and stood back, awaiting Sophie's approval. Sabrina said, "Tada!"

Sophie does indeed approve of the efficient method of varnishing the floor, indeed of all the hard work going on everywhere. By about an hour before sundown, the giants have the walls of the building finished, and everybody helps with packing away for the day.
