Sandy Beach

You stand upon the stretch of sandy land, entitled 'Sandy Beach' by those who know it. Obviously a popular locale, multiple youths of Cenril wander about, socializing amongst themselves in simple, near-bare uniform. A man-crafted barrier of stone hedging works around the sandy lot of shore, standing at about four feet tall and a foot in width. The entire beach forms a 'C' shape, opening east to the sea, probably much of the reason why it'd be famous in Cenril. Skirting the barrier, the beach continues on north and south. A note is here.

Kyori had not been back long. His impromptu sojourn pulled him away for a month or more. His ship, at long last, came in and brought him back to Cenril unharmed. Tired, but unharmed. His blonde hair was ruffled and stiff, like his bones, from salty sea air and travel. His worn boots trudge through the beach sand unbothered by the shifting terrain. A black scabbard rests snuggly against his back, held in place by a thick black strap across his chest. His shirt is the rust colored brown that told of a shirt once white but then neglected. With his hands in his pockets, the warrior made expert work of the distance between the beach, pausing with his forlorn sapphire eyes fixed on the ocean’s horizon.

Raphaline is here at the beach for much more fun reasons. After the last couple weeks of travel, she needs a small vacation to somewhere where no one can question her relaxation. To her, the beach is the epitome of taking a day off from all things travel and career wise so, here she is laying across a towel, soaking in the sun. Usually garbed in heavy leathers and a green tunic, the half elf is sporting a green bikini and her red curls have been allowed to be as crazy and wild as it pleases them. She has her eyes closed to the heavy sun above, while her toes are buried in the warm sand. When she hears the sound of footsteps on the sand, she turns her face from the sky and open one of her eyes to catch a peak at who. As she spots the ship, the half-elf sits up, dusting from her arms bits of sand before standing up and heading for the water for a closer look.

Kyori had noticed the woman sunbathing but hadn’t given her a second thought until she rose to watch another one of the ships bob into the harbor to unload it’s cargo and men. Indistinguishable emotions flash through his mind until the sound of another pair of footprints calls his attention. At first, all he sees is a flash of red hair against the beige backdrop of the beach. He blinks and she takes the form of a woman. “Afternoon,” The warrior offers politely, shaking sand off the tops of his well-worn boots. “Are you waiting for someone, from the ships?”

Raphaline stills her walking and turns towards him with curious, emerald eyes. She gives him a quick once over before she responds a smile and a clear shake of her head. “Oh no, just looking. I have spent some time on a ship in the past; mostly for travel. What about yourself? What wonders did you see while you were out on the open ocean?” Once she feels comfortable to approach, she makes her way over, still wearing her charming smile. “Raphaline,” she says, offering her hand to him. “And you are?”

Kyori says, “Business or pleasure?” He feels uneasy from his time aboard the ship and spaced out mid question. “Travelling, that is.” He finishes idiotically, trying on a smile for her. “You know how, from the beach, the ocean is beautiful and mysterious? We feel a pull to let it wash over and consume us?” He looks pensive and smells like salt. “On a ship, no matter how beautiful the ocean looks, when it’s miles and miles of water it feels suffocating. I had a quick journey, business, and thought myself over the ocean’s marvels. But…staring at it now, it’s just as enchanting as before.” He takes her offered hand in a light but steady grasp, shaking it gently while a boyish smile replaces his pensive expression. “Happy to meet you Raphaline. My name’s Kyori, sorry for the boring philosophical mumbo jumbo. Head’s all sea sick.” His empty hand taps his temple. The warrior releases her hand and looks at her properly. “Did you come all this way just to look at ships?” He spies her towel a few feet away. “Or something more relaxing?” There were heat hazed dots of people further up the beach, closer to the shadow of a sparse grove of palm trees. A popular opinion for a beach day.

Raphaline listens to his mumbo jumbo with a look of amusement; Nodding she says, “The ocean is too vast to ever encompass just one distinct feeling towards it. So it makes sense, you aren’t addled brained.” She turns towards where she has her stuff propped up in the sand before turning back to him with a casual shrug. “Relaxation mostly. I’ve traveled to quite a few places in the last couple of days and I thought I had earned a day to just enjoy the ocean,” she says, tucking a wild curl behind her slightly pointed ear. “Where you off to now that you are free? I mean, it sounds like you could use a break from whatever business you’ve been knee deep in.”

Kyori couldn’t argue. “I’ve got a friend in uh…” He’s still new and trying to remember all the different providence's. “Kelai , I think?” The name doesn’t feel right but he shrugs it off. If she was local, she’d known what he meant and correct him, he reasoned. “A day on the beach is tempting but...” He rushed off without telling anyone. He hoped no one was worried. “Rain check?” The warrior shoves his hands back in his pockets and gives Raphaline a serious look.
