Part of the Vakmatharas' Jar Arc

Summary: Raven was getting a rundown of how the college works from Counselor Dewfoot-Barrows, during which the DeVere College of Bardic Arts gained a new student (maybe two!) Raevyn and her companion Baelok, (Bae of the Undead) tag along as well.

DeVere College of Bardic Arts

After finding your way through the Topiary Garden it would only be fitting to happen upon a building which looks like a section taken right out of any castle in the same style as all of Schezerade, in all its decadence; marble forming the entirety of the large building accented with gold and platinum in which you'll have to cross over a glass bridge in order to reach it. The front door is welcoming for all shapes and sizes that are the citizens of Hollow and spans a great distance in it's solid French Door of a design. Opening it up one might be perplexed at the ability for the fortress to hold such music coming from the two story main hall with all of the astute students practicing their talents within. Once immersed, the eyes might be stolen by the gaping cathedral ceilings above, spotted by gold and platinum in which encircle mini glowing stones to mimic the night sky, but beauty is not only what the ceiling is for; it carries one's voice in the most pleasing fashion. This area is quite a vast oval-shaped grand hall, but nearly every space on the marble walls are shelves, carved into small diamond shapes. Each slot contains a scroll to nearly any song someone might wish to hear or practice in it's magic. Among the marvelous white-wood, gold-accented, concert grand piano in the middle of this large room there are a plethora of nearly every musical instrument imaginable, one just has to look.

Off to the west of this area are exits to the wondrous courtyard beyond, north holds the kitchens, dining hall and secret passageway to the wine cellar. The second story, easily reached by one of the staircases hugging the curved walls leading to a balcony within the hall, one will find many doors leading into teaching rooms; some of them lecture halls and performing arts rooms. At the northern peak of the oval main hall at the second level any new students are directed to the offices where any and all are encouraged to apply.

Kanna bit the inside of her lip as she stared up at the poster on the school's board. 'Need a refresher in dance for the Yule Ball? Enroll with Professor Lanara today!' The thought of taking a dance class just weeks ago would have sounded like an off-brand nightmare to her, yet here she was, standing at the college her samurai companion had told her of. 'Ridiculous, I'm not even gonna ask him to go or anything.' The short vagrant mentally debated at every possible reason why she should and should not be considering this as her hands clasped nervously around the long sleeves of her sunflower-yellow tunic. Her tambourine lay against her hip on one side, and the heirloom koto stayed secure on her back as always. The tell-tale heaping rucksack of other instruments and supplies had stayed behind at the tavern today, believing she would just look at the school and nothing more.

Raven was being shown around by Counselor Dewfoot-Barrows (a very warm and motherly-like hobbit) seeing as Corvo, the campaign manager, was busy with something else today. The forms to sign off on things the college needed was stacking high and she was showing Raven about Brennia’s duties, but they were taking a small break to take a look about and get Raven acquainted with the campus. The six foot two avian, fitted into a chic womens suit, followed the hobbit around with a half amused expression on her rather expressionless face. Plenty of students bustling about, smiling at each other, expressing excitement about this or that, and giving moral support to others as some are nervous about midterms. Teal colored eyes drift from this or that behind round gold rimmed glasses as she tucks one loose curly tendril behind an elongated pointed and pierced ear. Some students smile and wave, or offer a, “greetings, Dean Smyth!” She still wasn’t used to the name so a lot of the time it didn’t catch her attention right away. Counselor Dewfoot-Barrows halted when she spotted Kanna, an unfamiliar face within the halls, but Raven had not noticed right away and nearly toppled over the short woman which brought forth an apology from that velvety alto timbre, “apologies, Mary-Anne.” The hobbit smiles up at Raven, “that is quite alright, dear.” The hobbit walks right up to Kanna and smiles warmly at her, “hello there. I have not seen you around the campus before. Are you a new student?”

Kanna gave a sharp inhale through her nose, thinking she had finally found some semblance of resolve: She would take the classes anyways, and attend with or without the avian. At that moment, the counselor addressed Kanna, startling her despite her gentle tone. The bardess whipped her head up at the avian woman with a look of surprise (or, to put in more words, with the look of someone being caught with their hand in the cookie jar), and paused a bit before realizing the voice had come from just in front of her. "Oh-um, good afternoon!" The freckled human gave a polite bow of the head to the hobbit that stood just a half-foot below her. Cornflower eyes flicked back to the advertisement and back at the pair, any resolve found before now vanished under layers of poor self-worth. She shook her head lightly and intertwined her fingers in front of her to keep from fidgeting. "No ma'am, I just wanted to see the poster here." After a pause, she added in a quieter, more unsure tone, though her lips curled up into a shy smile, "It looks interesting."

Raven became an idle watcher as the hobbit continued, “it is nice to see a new face around here regardless! I am counselor Dewfoot-Barrows and I help new students enroll here at the college. You are?” She extends a hand out to Kanna for a shake if she will, if not that’s fine too and she would just settle for a polite smile and bow. “Welcome… Ah yes, Professor Lanara’s classes have become very popular. I’ve even seen her teach a centaur how to dance who had four left feet!” She was exaggerating a bit, but Lanara is very good! A hearty chuckle to follow, “she offers classes, even private classes, to the public for a small fee, but it is free if you are at student of the bard’s college.” Raven was studying the poster, herself and one of the students was so kind to do a small sketch of the beloved Professor on the poster and it reminded Raven of a dream, “tiny dancer…” the alto timbre mused out which took the counselor a bit by surprise for some reason, “that’s right, Dean!” The hobbit let out a short chuckle again, “this is our Dean, she is currently running for senator of Schezerade so she’s passed some of the duties of Dean on down to little old me, temporarily.” Raven gave that half amused look back down to the hobbit.

Kanna, enroll... Yes, someone else had told her that she should enroll here too, though the speaker's name and face stayed out of her mind's reach. Though her mind was still catching up to the present, her hand reflexively sought the hobbit's hand to shake. Ah, what a warm little hand, she thought, a pleasant contrast to all the frosted hands of Frostmaw. "It's very nice to meet you, Counselor. I'm Kanna." Her smile relaxed, as did her soft mezzo voice, and she tucked a bronze ringlet behind her ear with her other hand. Looking back up to the avian woman, she also gave a nod of the head in greeting. "Good afternoon, Senator-- or, Dean." She corrected herself. Raven did look much more than a senator than a headmistress, though. Not that she had ever met many of either, but that was besides the point. "What do you have to do to be a student here, Miss-- Counselor Dewfoot-Barrows?"

Nasada :: Raevyn and her guardian had been out shopping today. She heard tell of some sort of formal ball taking place within the coming days and she wanted so badly to go. She had never been to a Yule Ball before. Such activities, at least where she had come from, were always off limits to those of her societal class; And so, when she discovered that this Ball for for any and all, she jumped onto the opportunity quite excitedly. Baelok knew more about this land than she did, and so he would take the lead in pointing out the places that had the best attire. Although he didn’t quite care for the locals, he lead the girl up into the city of Schezerade to browse the wares of their shops for anything that might go with her outfit. The most surprising thing? It would be his treat. Like a sore thumb the pair stuck out as they traversed the city streets, each garbed in shades of black and grey. Raevyn walked along with a large malachite scythe that almost whispered darkness, and Baelok’s undead features were concealed by a burgundy bandana draped over the lower half of his face. “What the hell ya lookin’ at bird brain?” he growled at a passing avian that had been gawking. “Baelok, please. Civility.” she scolded. She did not know of the avian people, and as such, she thought it best to make some sort of impression that would have her in some way welcomed back- As unlikely as the thought may seem. She admired the people of this city, the wings most of all catching her attention. The necromancer was mesmerized and in awe, at first thinking she had passed on and now walked amongst the Heavens, but the occasional glance to her guardian would be a subtle reminder that they were very much still upon the mortal plane. As they were making their way back out of the city, the young girl noticed more buildings on the eastern side of the city that seemed to hold her interest. “What is over there?” she asked. A shrug, “Who cares?” And her reply, “I care. Come!” The girl snatches Baelok’s hand and tugs him along the pathway until they wind up staring upon the face of the college. She enjoyed the look of the building, but what really caught her interest where those that came and went with books in their hand. Was this a library? A place of learning? She would soon find out as she came upon a trio seeming locked in conversation; The avian headmistress, a hobbit, and what seemed to be a new potential student attempting to enroll. She stood back a little ways and listened in, curious exactly what sort of place of study this happened to be. Baelok of course, folded his arms over his chest and tried his best not to look too terribly bored. Hint: He was.

Raven gave a half smirk, odd, she seemed to be a dull sort of being - what makings is that of a bard?! Only time will tell of secrets that are hidden, “good afternoon,” her Veretian(French) accented voice offered as teal hues travel over to Raevyn and Baelok, half lidded and looking as bored as Raevyn’s companion. Her lingering gaze was not scrutinizing as the avians of Schezerade. Caramel skin seeming without any tattoos and her wings a bit larger while reflecting hues of navy blue and forest green within the onyx darkness of them screamed she wasn’t actually from Schezerade? She’s seriously out of place, but not at the same time just like the pair and they get a slight wave from Raven. The hobbit continues with a heartfelt interest in Kanna, “well! I am happy you asked, Kanna dear. You come up to the second floor with me and look over the classes we offer. You then tell me which ones interest you and we work out a schedule that works best for your lifestyle whether you see yourself as a casual student or a full time one. Either status means you have to fill out a form that tells us of any allergies, food or otherwise, you may have so we may protect your health. Then you tell us what accommodations you may need for a room within the dorms,” Raven tilts her head slightly as if she was learning all of this herself, as well, but all of the information given is very laid back and easy going coming from the hobbit’s motherly way of speaking. Music emanating within the main hall as the hobbit counselor bids everyone to follow, “would you like a tour first, Kanna? These newcomers may come along as well,” it seems nothing gets passed the hobbit and Raven muses out, “Mary-Anne… The eyes and ears of the castle.” This seemed to touch the hobbit for some reason, amber brown eyes looking misty and her smile bittersweet because Brennia had always said that the counselor was pretty much the living being that is the castle, (metaphorically) for nothing went unnoticed by the hobbit. “Yes, miss Cadenza,” the hobbitess clears her throat and motions to the main hall, “shall we?”

Kanna | When Raven lifts her hand, the bardess' attention is drawn instantly to who it is that she is waving at. More importantly, she's not going to have to interact with them too, will she? Such an unexpected conversation so early in the day had already put the human on a nervous edge. Trying not to be rude to the gentle counselor before her, her eyes trailed to the ground, and with a blink, up to her right. Unexpected was going to be the theme of her day, wasn't it? With the one glance, she noted the large scythe that hung from a pale arm that seemed far too delicate to be able to hold it upright, and the large companion that covered its face. Heavens, the woman could be death incarnate! Kanna snapped her eyes back to the hobbit, trying not to show any alarm as she patiently explained the process to her. That all sounded so horribly daunting! 'I just want to play my music and learn to dance, not sit in some dull classroom and take notes on-- well, whatever it was that's taught in schools. Did I ever go to school before?' Her train of thought slowly derailed until the woman mentioned the newcomers. Her head whipped to the side to see Raevyn approach, her eyes wide with curiosity... and perhaps some alarm. Kanna gives a hesitant nod in greeting at the monochrome woman before following the others inside. How she had forgotten how bright Schezerade was compared to the comfort of indoors! She blinked a few times to adjust her eyes to the magnificent entryway before her. "Isn't that the human that was playing for tips at the fountain?" "Is she here because she thinks she's a bard?" A couple of younger avians whispered and laughed to each other before disappearing down one of the many halls, though the comments were rudely still within earshot of the girl.

Nasada :: Baelok stared upon the avian first, the wave noted with indifference. He was not a people person in any sense. In fact, if he were certain that he would not be set upon by some sort of royal guard, he could go for a bit of a bloodbath right about now. “Oh look. You’ve been spotted.” he muttered, nudging the smaller woman in the side. Raevyn blinked in surprise and offered a half bow to the woman of caramel complexion, a return greeting nod to Kanna, as well as the hobbit that did most of the talking. The girl shared Kanna’s thoughts in some regard; She was feeling a bit shy and not all too keen on speaking. At least, not yet. Not until she could gauge what exactly was going on and who each of these bodies happened to be. The offer to accompany the little tour seemed to put a bit of a smile upon Raevyn’s face, and Baelok would pipe up. “Don’t even think about it. Shopping. Goodies. Stay focused.” Yet she did think about it. And knowing full well that it would bother the guardian at her side, the necromancer took no pause in her decision to quiety follow along. This of course earned the girl a quiet “I hate you.” As trailed along behind Kanna and the representatives of the college, Raevyn too overheard the snide comments made at her fellow human’s expense. She would glance at the pair of stuck up avians as they disappeared down a nearby corridor, a slight displeasure for the rude words showcased by the downward curl of her blackened lips.

Raven followed nonetheless and glanced at the locked piano, that damn Corvo - all work no play. Something distracts her, lights a fire in her heart for once and a slight glare to her gaze when she spots the avians and caught their words. “Excuse me?” A head tilt and the two avians seem to be a bit alarmed, had they not expected the dean to be around? The hobbit continues on pointing out the fellow bards and their practices, some of them seeming mere novices while Raven couldn’t explain why as heeled steps narrow the distance between herself and those bitchy students… Where do they get off?? And why does she suddenly care. Raven was before the pair and stared down at them, “would either of you like to repeat what you just said?” They shook their heads, but Raven laid in on them, telling them to remember their place. Remember what it was like coming here their first time and how a comment like that could wound… Her voice remained calm, it wasn’t damning, but her eyes said it all, she was furious. You could almost miss her reprimand as she was just out of earshot, “it is not like we see you two touring Lithrydel for a cushy living.” A quirk of her brow as this seemed to firmly put the two in their place, “now…. Next time you see that young lady, under my roof or otherwise. I better hear of an apology while you offer to carry her musical instrument to class.” They nodded before scurrying off and as if nothing even happened she joined back up with the tour that had lead back outside to the west in the courtyard. An acting class is taking place out that way by Professor Valios and it actually looks very interactive and fun while the hobbit goes on to explain, “the available classes are a mix of this and study work, all optional. You come, take what classes you would like and then move on with your day. While we have classes like this one here, there are classes taught by an elf, Professor Noetal, where his classes require a stack of books the height of myself.” Some more jovial laughter from the hobbit as she directs them to the dorms. Once Raven catches up she’s behind Baelock and Raevyn, “bonjour… I didn’t catch your names.” The dullness in her gaze had returned and her half interested smirk appearing to be either really bored, or really laid back.

Kanna winced slightly at the comments, reaching up to run her fingers over a lock of hair. Being a vagrant had earned her a fair share of rude comments in the past, but to be mocked just for being a human bard...! At the Dean's reprimand, Kanna let out a small sound of surprise and took a step forward, "Y-you don't have to-- I mean I -am- the girl from the fountain, they didn't really say anything wrong!" She defended, earning surprised glances from both pairs. When Raven looked back, her eyes widened with anxiety and she quickly turned and closed the few yards distance with Raevyn and the counselor. The scene behind her quickly forgotten, she looked out at the acting class, where it seems the students have been broken out into teams and instructed to improv an argument in character. "I don't give a blasted foxglove's blossom if the commander said it, I refuse to accept that carrots of any kind are an acceptable side dish!" One of the louder voices rang out from the courtyard in a furious and exaggerated accent, and the human covered her mouth to keep from laughing out loud at the nonsense. She turned back when the Dean rejoined them, realizing that she actually stood almost at level with the... well, less frightening-seeming visitor in black. "Kanna." She replied, looking from Raven, to Raevyn, then to Baelok. 'Terrifying...! But manners!' The freckled woman thought as she gave him a smile and a slight wave in acknowledgement.

Nasada :: While their tour guide explained the typical inner workings of college life, Raevyn felt herself beginning to become absorbed in the idea of enrolling, herself. Although, with her studies in necromancy, and the practice at the Mage Tower, she wasn’t exactly sure if she would have time! Still, the desire was there, especially when she saw so many various types of books being carried. Books meant libraries! When the headmistress took off, the young necromancer popped a brow curiously, but didn’t linger for too long. She felt it might make a better impression to actually pay attention to the little woman that was so kindly showing them around. She seemed quite amused with the improv class, and her head bobbed here and there as the hobbit explained the various instructors what their classes would entail. Baelok would first just stare at Kanna, not even so much as a nod in return. Raven’s words in regard of not catching their names was met with a cold reply. “Didn’t offer.” The girl that he watched over looked quite annoyed and glared at the undead death knight, the response obviously toward both Kanna and the headmistress. “Please excuse Sir Parrelius.” she said, knowing that he loathed when she called him that. “He’s always a bit of a grump. I am Raevyn McGowan. And he is Baelok Parellius, former Knight of Cenril.” She flashed the undead man a mocking smirk before she turned back to look over Kanna and then Raven, offering a polite bow of her head. “It is… nice to meet you.”

Raven didn’t change her expression to Baelock’s cold ‘tude, she’s sort of the same in that sense so she didn’t mind in the least. “Pleasure…” was all she offered the knight and that half smirk to Raevyn, “what a pretty name.” She was moving on behind the hobbit down the large winding staircase to the dorms. This room was wall to wall with bookshelves and even some cubicles made out of bookshelves like it was almost a maze of information. The hobbit tour guide motions to the student’s common area here, “the dorm rooms are optional here, there will always be a place to stay if one wishes, but if you want to attend it is not mandatory… As the founder, Miss Smyth always said… The bardic soul is always one of a traveler.” The woman paused in silence before moving on while Raven still looked unaffected and bored. The hobbit was going on about how each corridor in every cardinal direction has a purpose and ranked by the size of rooms for all the unique students attending. Speaking of which it seemed a lot were closing in on them, students and bodies gently pushing through, but a rather wide half orc sort of bumped Raven by accident and sent her body into Baelok’s. She steadied herself and pulled away quickly, “excuse, Sir… Parellius,” her Veretian accent struggled a little with his name just as Counselor Dewfoot-barrows spoke up, “it seems it is supper time. Everyone is going to be in the dining hall for food and music, you three should join us. Meanwhile, I will go up and fetch some forms and meet everyone in the dining hall and if you like you can start your classes tomorrow, Kanna dear.” A warm smile shown up to Raevyn, “should I be fetching two sets of forms,” a wider grin at her guardian, “or three, maybe?” Whatever their answer was the counselor took Raven by the hand and lead her upstairs to explain how enrolling works.

Kanna shrunk a bit under Baelok's stare, her smile straining to stay up from embarrassment. When the darker girl introduced the pair, she looked back up and tried again. "It is nice to meet you, Sir-- Par-lelious." Realizing how hard it was for her to repeat that the first time, her head snapped back in front of her and assumed a forced neutral expression. "Nice to meet you too Raevyn." She added quickly and quietly. When the group entered the dorms, Kanna looked around the various rooms in awe, her eyes practically sparkling at the sight of the towering libraries. In even two of her lifetimes would she not be able to read everything here! When she turned her head a ways, she could see that Raevyn seemed to have the same thought. Her cornflower eyes eventually met hers, and Kanna's smile widened more as if to say "isn't this amazing?!"

Nasada :: Raevyn smiled with honor at the headmistress’ compliment. “Thank you, miss. My mother loved the bird and so blessed me with the name. What am I to refer to you by?” she asked in return. She was certain it wouldn’t be a first name basis, if the woman’s attire was anything to go by. Much like mister Mahara, she too seemed to be very presentable and dapper compared to most others that traveled the halls. Before Raven would have a chance to answer, however, the young necromancer’s attention is stolen by Kanna and the room filled with books. The girl was beyond impressed, her jaw dropping as she filtered over the various tomes and study materials with desire. “This truly is a beautiful sight.” she spoke, mimicking Kanna’s smile. The observation was next focused on the commons and the dorms- And there was a bit of hope in Raevyn’s eye. She had been sleeping on a cot for so long, it was a nice thought to perhaps have some place more comfortable to spend the nights. When Raven bumped into Baelok, he had been turned in her direction, managing to catch the woman before she actually fell. He didn’t actually care if she fell- It was instinct. There was a visible look of annoyance in his gaze when she spoke his title; He had ignored Kanna’s attempt originally, but as soon as the headmistress said it, that gaze turned on the pallid human. “See what you started? I swear, I am going to repeatedly stab the next person that calls says it.” To anyone present, he then says “Baelok. No sir. No Parellius. Just Baelok. I will get violent.” it felt nice to get one over on the undead man, the necromancer mused to herself. He had been such a pain in the ass, so rude and arrogant, that having some way to pester him was a bit of a relief. “I… would be honored to.” Raevyn answered the counselor in regard to the dining hall. When the offer of forms was brought up, Baelok answered first. “Do i look like the studying type, short stuff? Ain’t for that froo-froo crap. I murder things and watch this one, that’s it.” With the roll of her eyes, the human offers an apology and says, “I.. would like to at least see this form, please. I am uncertain as to what I want to do, but the option would be nice.” She then asked, concerned that this institution would be like those near her homeland, “Is there some sort of fee that I should know of?”

Raven and Miss Dewfoot-Barrows returned to the dining hall which was bustling with students and the hobbit looked like she was actually having a bit of fun welcoming newcomers even if they don’t end up applying. Raven slightly frowns down at her place which contained meat… She hates meat because she just cannot bring herself to eat anything with a face, but she doesn’t want to make a fuss and gently pushes her food away from herself. She spotted Bealock sitting next to her, “here, Bae… Have seconds.” She said with a monotone voice and even though she shortened his name it at least wasn't ‘Sir Perklsgls’ errr - whatever it was. Half lidded eyes rest on Raevyn, “some people call me Headmistress or Dean… To answer your question before.” Typically she would have no issue offering up her first name, but she didn’t want there to be any confusion for Raevyn seemed to pride themselves on being unique, which she liked. The hobbit was getting Kanna’s details down, whats her full name, emergency contacts, allergies and then comes the fun part of picking classes, there is dance, prelude through the ages, horticulture and the voice, performing arts, different strokes(painting class), string theory(acoustic guitar class), the list goes on. While she is doing that Raven speaks with Raevyn and Baelok, “even if you only sign up for one class a week you have the option for room and board.” A soft sigh, “and yes… The current administration is making me charge for education now and it is no longer free, but I plan on reversing such an atrocious rule. However, we have found a loophole that if you provide your annual income on the form I can wave the fee,” another slight smirk as she was the one that actually found the loophole and felt a little victorious about it. “Any information you provide on these forms is between you and Miss Dewfoot-Barrows,” they would notice that while the counselor is filling out Kanna’s forms the ink seems to be disappearing, “no one needs to know who is where in these halls. We are all here to learn from one another and this is a place of no judgements just acceptance…. Other than the twa-” she gets a soft nudge to her wing from the counselor, “other than the unfortunate event earlier, that is usually how most students behave. Someone worked very hard to make that the theme here and we should all do very well to remember that in her memory.”

Kanna couldn't help but snicker at such a silly word coming from the undead bodyguard. "Froo-froo crap." She repeated quietly, making a mental note to absolutely use that when she got around to making a song about Schezerade. Though she had calmed down a bit between leaving the libraries and passing the dormitories, her excitement picked up again at the sight of the dining hall. A dining hall, for everyone. Food! Despite the slight poundage on the bardess, a grim set of memories kept her eating instincts perpetually primed. Once seated with the others, she took a large bite of a dinner roll before sitting back to imitate the less hands-on approach that the other students had taken up with eating. The elderly hobbit waited with no judgement as Kanna managed to swallow the roll and try to fill in as much as she could. Full name. Erm... Kanna. "No, I really don't remember what my surname was." Emergency contacts. "...Pass." Kanna averted her eyes as the counselor wrote down her own information. Allergies? She furrowed her brows at this one. "Dust?" She tried. "No, no, to food." Kanna furrowed her brows again. "...Pass." Dormitory preferences. "I would prefer to have a dormitory." She stated matter-of-factly, clueless to what the actual preferences were. At the classes, her eyes grew wide, reading down the list with almost childlike curiosity. In the end, she made circles around the checkboxes-- poor self-taught girl had never needed to fill out a form before-- next to dance, along with some others not of note. The edges of the paper were just slightly sweaty as she handed the form back to Counselor Dewfoot-Barrows. This was happening. She was committing to staying in one place, if only for a few months. 'Don't get comfortable.' A voice in the back of her mind whispered. 'Everyone leaves.' An unpleasant memory of walking with bare feet, trying to find home, only to find the home empty. This sobered her up quickly, making her withdraw slightly. Though it was unclear whether this was fortunate or not, the rest of the evening passed without incident.

Nasada :: As they were all seated, Raevyn took the time now to study the various students that sat all around, noisily conversing while they ate their dinner time meals. Baelok didn’t seem to think twice as he reached out with a gauntleted hand and snatched up the cooked flesh from Raven’s plate and took a concealed bite beneath his bandana. He hated to wear the thing, but for the most part, Raevyn found it necessary in a more public setting. “Of course, headmistress.” the girl replied with a pleasant smile. She listened in as dewfoot questioned Kanna, the entire process seemingly holding Raevyn’s interest until the avian spoke again. “Oh.” she first said, when the idea of the fee came up. Sadly, she did not exactly have a steady annual income. Not yet at least. So, she would glance to her guardian with pleading eyes, a groan elicited from the man as he figured out exactly what she was after. A specific unknown benefactor had graced him with a hefty lump sum for his deeds, and for the most part, it was fairly useless for his normal day to day life. “How much is it?” he asks outright. Raevyn seemed hopeful, nodding along with her dean’s words. “Of course. I understand completely, miss.”

Raven watched as the man struggled to eat his food, “Bae, you don't need to do that,” a hand lazily gestures at his bandana before she glanced over to a vampire having a plasma pouch for dinner and a separate table where an undead was eating shamelessly around his diverse group of friends or the dragon disguised as a human and eating… whatever it is that dragons eat. Her teal eyes set on the pair for a moment in the bustle of the dining hall because she wasn’t sure how much clearer she could have been that if they report that Raevyn makes 0$ a year then her education is free until Raven is able to abolish the ridiculous restriction. That half amused look comes back to her face, “I hate putting a price on experience. I never want to turn someone away just because their pockets aren’t lined, that just doesn’t sit right with me. How is that fair? You have a hunger for knowledge and who am I to deny?” Seriously, who is she? A lot of times she doesn’t even know. “What I am getting at is… We are going to say you pay the fee, but the fee is zero gold…” It isn’t charity because who wants to go to school, but it is an opportunity.

Nasada :: The undead male glances around the hall and notes those very students that made no effort to conceal the features that would make them unwelcome in many other places across the land. Eagerly would he reach up and pull that piece of garb from his face, revealing the noseless, lipless characteristics of his undead face. "Good. Hate this garbage. Think she's ashamed of me." He mutters. Raevyn rolled her eyes yet again. "I told you before... I am not ashamed. I... just think that in some locations, the scythe.. your appearance.. it unsettles some. It's protective measures." Baelok tears another piece of meat with his yellowed teeth. "Yeah yeah. Whatever ya say, fleshbag." To the Dean, "And you. What the hell is a Bae?" The corners of his jaw tug to simulate a grin of sorts. Raevyn, after listening to a more detailed explanation, grew excited. "Really? I would be so grateful. Truthfully I am not sure what exactly I would choose to study, but I think I am more than interested now."

Raven’s gaze doesn’t avert from the horror under the bandana nor is she surprised, but she still looks rather unaffected by everything, “that’s better.” Their argument is also missed by Raven as it seems to go right over her head, “one life lesson I had to learn fast is do what you must and never take stock other people's opinions because in the end it never really matters. The more you pay them any mind the poorer you become,” her entire laid back attitude makes her seem so much older than she looks and eventually the dulled teal gaze finds their way back to Baelok, “it’s your name. Just shortened, should I not?” A glance down at his lip as she reaches for a soft kerchief that would smell of his favorite scent since it’s coming from within her own hidden pocket between her wings, “you got something,” boldly reaching so only the cloth of the kerchief dabbed the corner of his mouth. If he minded she wasn’t worried about it as she left her kerchief with him before standing while slipping her hands in the pockets of her suit’s pants. “I do hope you consider attending and if not feel free to hang out as much as you please to enjoy the music, food and books…. I’ll be seeing you.” The hobbit would stay with them at the table with a smile on her face ready to answer any questions because a rather tall avian man dressed similar to Raven walked up to the table. “Hello Corvo,” Raven gives off a soft bored sigh, “happen to find the key to the piano, yet?” The campaign manager just laughs at her, “I figured,” she looked back to Raevyn and Baelok, “have a pleasant night… Duty calls.” A half smirk and nod to the hobbit, “Mary-Anne…” the clicking of heels takes her away from the table at an arm's length distance away from Corvo.

Nasada :: Baelok nodded to the headmistress, watching the woman carefully as she got up and began to go her own way. Raevyn hadn't quite made up her mind as to what she wanted to do, but she was greatly considering her options in enrolling in the College to some degree. The books are what drew her in most- She loved to learn and read. "You as well, headmistress!" the girl called out after Raven, her attention now turning toward the undead that sat across from her. "Pleasant woman. Should we explore?" To which his reply came, "Whatever. Let me finish first." The left handkerchief was tucked into his pocket- It could come in handy.
