RP:Fixing the Fountain

Part of the Unforeseen Consequences Arc

Blood Fountain

Kuiai walked the streets of Vailkrin once more, this time a weapon hanging at his side, something we went and bought for his protection of walking through the this dark city. Clothed in his black attire, hood over head and head held low, he walked the main street and came to what seemed to be a fountain, or what is left of it anyways. His footsteps are heavy, as his feet carry the large but young minotaur to what some call the center of Vailkrin. He lifted his red eyes and looked about the area, he saw the graveyard to the south and he noticed the shops along the north side of the street. The Hanging Corpse Tavern was noticed and noted as he passed it to get here. Now he stood here, almost in a trance as he kept his guard up for anything that wanted to harm him or try anything funny.

Celiann felt as though her House had become in charge of the situation here in Vailkrin, which is why the clumsy woman found herself approaching the fountain with a series of scrolls. She was here to assess the damage and how much it would take to actually repair the thing! Blood continued to pour out onto the street, mindlessly cleaned up by an undead army. She spotted the tall, hooded fellow from the other day and waved eagerly at him - causing her to drop her scrolls. She dropped to her knees, picking them all up and bundling them to her chest, "H-Hello, sir!" she offered politely.

Kuiai caught movement out of the corner of his eye and he turned his head to see the female he had run into the other day. He bowed to her, "Greetings Miss Celiann. Pleasure running into you again." He only smiled as she dropped her scrolls and picked them out, "What brings you out into the streets of Vailkrin. Surrely one who seems to be a scholar should be inside where its a bit more safe." He showed concern as he spoke to her, his voice deep and rough. He dropped his hood and shook his furred head around to loosen up the hair, so she could look at him properly and in hopes that nothing would try to bother him.

Celiann was still a little bit awed to be talking to a minotaur! She smiled, gesturing to the area as a whole, "V-V-Vailkrin is m-my home, sir," a small pause, "I, um... I am s-s-supposed to b-be a N-Noble here, s-so... T-Trouble is f-few and f-far between!" she offered a nervous laugh. She was never too fond of the fact that it was a noble House; given that she was not one to heavily rely upon her status or see it as something that set her apart. "Other th-than that, I h-have my magic," she said with a reassuring smile. "Wh-What bring y-you back to V-Vailkrin, S-Sir Kuiai?"

Kuiai chuckled, "Just call me Kuiai." He listened to her as he turned back to what he heard was considered the center of the city, "Forgive me. I did not realize this place was your home. If I have posken ill of it, I am sorry. I do not know much about the Noble families of Vailkrin, since I hail from Larket. So forgive too, for not showing more respect." He bowed his head to her, "I am here to just look around and see what the problems this city seems to be leaking. I read messages on the Kelay Tavern board. I am also trying to gain knowledge so that one day I can become Chief of my tribe and head minotaur of both tribes."

Celiann smiled and shook her head, "N-No, V-Vailkrin has e-earned its less th-than lovely r-reputation!" She offered a small laugh before gesturing to the semi-shattered fountain, "Our c-c-centre-piece is ruined, wh-which is most d-disappointing... No-one w-w-will v-venture into the city to f-f-fix it, either." But at the mention of not showing respect, she shook her head rapidly - nearly casting her glasses off of her face! "Oh, n-n-no! Um, I'm n-n-not b-better than a-anyone else. S-So, please, d-don't t-treat me l-like I am," she smiled and gave a little nod. But then she gained a little insight into his life, "Oh? W-Wow! Th-That's v-very interesting, Kuiai, I h-hope you a-achieve it." She offered him a very genuine smile, before glancing him over, "Say... Y-You look s-strong. A-Are you looking for w-w-work?"

Kuiai nodded his head, "I am. I'm looking foranything that pays at the moment, so that I can atleast make sure I can eat, while I travel the world." He looked to the fountain again, then something went off in his head, "I'm currently here, so perhaps I can help with the fountain. I just need to know what it is I need to do." He turned to her now and looked directly at the female, with his soft, yet somewhat frightful eyes.

A deep dragon scampered into view from the north.

Celiann was often too cowardly to come across as intimidating or remotely frightening, save for when some caught sight of those ever prominent fangs. "Um, well, we n-n-need the f-fountain to be r-repaired. B-Back to it's f-f-former glory," she paused and raised a slender digit, "th-that will t-tell the p-people to h-have faith! T-Tell them that it's o-okay, sort of th-thing." She smiled before gesturing to a view unbroken pieces on the ground, "We, um, h-h-had s-small statues on the fountain... E-Every r-race th-that could b-b-be made v-vampiric was on it, in their v-v-vampiric form." She smiled slightly, "We, um... I d-d-don't know why, but it's a-always been there. D-Do you think y-y-you can fix it?" The deep dragon scampered off to the east.

Kuiai nodded his head some, "I can certainly try. I'm not sure how your magic works, but combined with my strength, and a little bit of magic, I can get something done. I just need to be shown where the pieces go. I suggest we start with the base before we repair the statues. That way, all this... *he sighs and closes his eyes* ...Blood won't be spilling out onto the street." He looked around and removed his cloak and placed it on the graveyard fence, then moved back to the fountain and its broken peices, moving some around with quite a bit of work and strength, putting it together like it was a puzzle. He had a rough idea of how it should look, but he would need her help to actually seal the pieces together.

Celiann gave a little nod of her head, setting her scrolls and books on a piece of dry ground before removing her wand from the loop of fabric of her robe. "Th-Thank you, Kuiai," she offered him a smile, before moving to assist him in the placement of the fountain and its stone pieces. She didn't have the physical strength to lift the pieces easily, but that wasn't to say that undead army didn't! A couple slowly staggered over to the minotaur and vampire, lifting what stone pieces they could and placing them in the right spot. When the stone was placed, Celiann would point her wand and speak: "fondere fusibile!" The stone itself seemed to bubble and melt slightly, before fusing with the rest and setting into place. The necromancer smiled as the spell worked, giving an eager little nod to Kuiai. They'd be finished in no time!

Kuiai jumped some as the spell started to take effect on the stone. He didn't trust magic really and he most of the time he tried to stay away from it, but this was a rare time he would work with magic. Once the base was in place thanks to Celiann and the army, he looked to the pieces that had to be lifted and placed inside or on top of the fountain with an grimmace. But he took a deep breath and started lifting what looked like a base section with feet, but he dropped it mid way up, on his foot and he rawred out. Snarling, he pushed the pstone off and took a few deep breaths, then snapped his fingers for the undead to come help him. "On the count of three. Lift it and set it on the fountain edge and hold it there for others to lift it to its correct spot... One... Two... Three..." He grunted as he helped lift the stone up, his foot throbbing. He pushed hte pain aside and worked with hte undead to lift the stone into place. Eventually, they would have to clean the dust out of the fountain, so that it ran pure.

Celiann had not anticipated that the minotaur would drop the rather large section of stone. She near jumped back as he roared in pain, mentally making a note to pay a little extra to compensate for any damage done. She watched as a few more undead stumbled over to assist in the effort, Celiann adding her magic whenever possible and necessary. As long as the fountain was in place; a stonemason could be brought in later to fix it and repair any broken pieces of the statues. She did, however, offer him a very encouraging smile.

Kuiai worked until his fur like hair was dripping with sweat and he was breathing deeply. This was hard work, but he was having to use his muscles he hasn't used in a while. It felt good and it hurt, and he enjoyed it. Eventually he stopped and leaned agaisnt the fountain, wiping his brow and taking a break. "Wooo. This was a bit much, but I am glad I can help." It is true that a minotaur has the strength of a bull, and he has done the work of a few strong men, or more. "Miss Celiann, what is left to do? I won't leave until its all in place. I'm not one to just walk away from a half finished project."

Celiann felt a little guilty, given that her input in the job was very little! Mages weren't a very physical sort, it was true. "Oh, um... Just p-placing in the other t-t-tiers, and then the s-s-statues, but a s-stonemason c-could do the s-statues. They n-n-need repair, anyway..." she offered him a little smile, "I c-c-can purify the b-blood of d-debris, so you w-w-wouldn't n-need to worry about that. But th-that would be it, really."

Kuiai nodded his head and proceeded to place the stone for the tiers, each one taking a little time, but thanks to the help of the undead, a race he wasn't particularly fond of, the stone was moved with ease and less strain. By now, sweat is just pouring off him and his clothes were soaked down to his socks and boots. But he didn't mind, he would have to take a bath later and wash his clothes. "I will move the bitsof statue closer to the fountain when the teirs are done, to make it easier on the masons." He quickly moved to a group of undead struggling with a block, and he quickly moved over to them and lifted the stone just as one dropped it at their end.

Celiann watched the work effort with growing guilt. The man would be well compensated for his efforts, she knew that much! She cringed as the undead struggled with the block of stone, but realised that it was quite an old army. Plus, they were dead! It was a miracle if their arms stayed attached after this time. But she began to move the smaller statues, moving them closer to the fountain to try and chip into the effort.

Kuiai grinned and stepped back from his work and the work of the army. He nodded his head and once again caught movement out of the corner of his only to see Celiann trying to help. He chuckled and stepped over to move larger pieces with a grin. He removed his shirt, his dark skin glistening in the light and his muscles bulging. "This was quite a work out. I may have to find something like this gain, if the war band isn't enough," he said with a laugh.

Celiann laughed softly as the minotaur began to help move the small statues, "W-Well, it'll h-help g-g-grow your m-muscles for f-f-fighting, right?" she offered a little nod before standing upright. "So! P-Payment is in order, I b-b-believe," she smiled, fishing around in her little pouch to find a little bag of coins.

Celiann gave 5000 gold to Kuiai.

Kuiai nodded his head, "I can fight, but with my fists and head. Never before have I used a weapon and this warband is going to teach me." He grinned and greatfully accepted the coin, though he did notice it seemed to be a bit much. Never before has he earned this much gold by working hard. "Thank you Miss Celiann. I appreciate this very much, and I am happy to have been a serive to you. If there is anything else you need help with in the future, don't hesitate to ask. I will be more than happy to oblige." He bowed to her again and then retrieved his cloak, placing it around his neck, while he carried his shirt. "I hope this fountain is back to its beautiful self. Shame it was even shattered in the first place."

Celiann felt that the coin was well earned, and that a little extra was needed as to compensate for the foot injury! She smiled, picking up her scrolls, "C-Certainly! I'll, um, h-have the s-s-stonemasons fix it and it'll b-be back to its f-f-former glory. Th-Thank you, Kuiai, for all y-y-your help."

Kuiai nods his head and bows to her with a smile. "You are very welcome." He straightedned up and headead back the way he came, with a slight bounce to his walk and a limp. In a few hours he will forget that he was even injured, though the limping will remain.
