Summary: For the second time today, Meri visit's the Sheriff's office in Larket. This time she begs to have a visit with the Ice Genasi, hoping that maybe being able to hear Emilia's side of the story will bring a better understanding of why exactly she is in jail. Some head way is made but still leaves angry and confused.

Holding Cell, Larket

Emilia laid upon the bed in the holding cell that had become her temporary residence since being taken by the lieutenant toward the end of her raging snow storm in Larket the previous evening. The little woman wore a simple pair of cotton pants of a light grey with a matching t-shirt, both items of clothing much too big for the petite woman, the jail didn’t stock clothing in sizes meant for children. Outside of the cell her personal clothing from the day she was arrested sat neatly folded in a pile; black leather pants, black corset, deep red blouse, soft black leather boots, a quiver full of red feathered arrows, a elegantly carved black wood bow, and a satchel full of herbal and healing objects. The white curls of the woman a crazed mess as they had even taken her hair tye away when she underwent the searching process, yet this seemed almost normal for the woman. At the sound of a familiar voice the tiny Genasi leapt up from the bed to turn her icy gaze upon Meri. On her feet those pants meant for another not her size fell down to her ankles as the shirt fell off one shoulder and almost the other, if the neck hole was a smidge bigger she would have fit right through it. A faint blue-blush over freckled cheeks as she pulled her pants back up. With a hand she held them in place, a wad of fabric in her little fist as she walked over to the bars that would separate her from her friend, “Meri! Oh, how nice to see a friendly face. What are you doing here?”

Meri has seen Emilia in various states of undress and so when the woman has a little bit of a clothing mishap this very day, Meri doesn't even bat a lash. Okay, that is not true. She is actually glaring hard at the guard in an 'avert your gaze' sort of fashion -- but Meri herself is not embarrassed to see the body. There were a lot of questions that Meri wanted to voice, but most of them she could not for the guard in the room may not approve of the content of their conversation. Number one question in her mind: how come you are complying and not trying to break out of this cell? Though Meri could not vocalize this question, she was trying to ascertain why herself. Was there some sort of anti-magic barring Emilia from using her ice magic? Was the cell opened and shut by lock and key? Or via some enchantment? Meri studies these details of the cell, trying to solve the mystery to her number one question herself. "I heard you were in here...Sabrina was here earlier but they would not let her see you. She was the one who told me. Are you okay? Are they treating you alright? What happened exactly?" So many questions to be answered in one sitting, Meri could at least pace herself.

Emilia took a seat by the bars with her legs folded like a pretzel and mismatched colored hands resting in her lap. The door to the cell sported a segment where a key would fit into the lock and it also sported a magical barrier spell that kept the prisoners within from being able to utilize their magic. Surely the jail would keep few people held inside if they didn’t take the extreme precautions against those of magic abilities, too many people were talented nowadays to not add the enchantments. If Meri were to look close enough into those icy eyes of the Genasi, half hidden behind stray curls in her face, she would see a lasting effect from her use of magic to cause the storm...there was no pupils only pure icy-blue eyes. The corners of her eyes white again, the look slowly fading. Thumbs twiddled, “Oh, I see the did send a message to Sabrina then. I overheard them saying they would, but I wasn’t sure they actually were going to. Good to hear they did what they said…. How angry is she at me?” The question lingered in the empty air before she spoke again, “There was a group of naked, tortured, neglected Frost Giants being held captive...I had to free them….I just couldn’t stand by and let Larket keep prisoners in the cells while there is supposed to be peace…” The guard behind them let out a loud “You idiot, Woman!” as he slammed his fist down onto the desk he sat at, “We keep telling you there are no giants being held prisoner here in the city and there never was. We questioned the town this morning. No one saw any giants. Just you attacking the city with a raging storm of snow.”

Meri was close enough to notice this change, and yet not close enough to cause any concern or alarm for the guards. Even though the change in eye color is observed, this is commentary best kept for a later date and time. Again, Meri's reasoning is to try and not aim any further suspicion amongst the law officials. A brow is raised as she gets two conflicting stories. Emi was trusted far more than the law officials, and yet one would think there story often holds quite a bit of clout. Their role was to protect the public not deceive it. There is a nod to Emilia, but it is the angry guard behind the desk that Meri opts to speak to. "While I am not at all doubting the validity of your investigation....I would also say that I have known Emi here a long time now and she has never been one to lie. She is clumsy and manages to get some new bruise some way or another, in the most ridiculous ways I have heard sometimes, but she is a good woman. She wouldn't just make up a story about a bunch of frost giants either, so there has to be more going on that meets the eye....She is not a violent woman and she does not go stirring up snowstorms just for the thrill of causing mayhem...."

Emilia sat in silence, the small lady still worn out from all the energy needed to create and hold such a storm of snow over the city of Larket for as long as she did. Lucky for her friends she didn’t end up with amnesia this time around. The Guard looked at Meri with an ‘I don’t care what you have to say about your friend’ stare before he rolled his eyes, “If you friend there is such a good person with such good intentions that doesn’t ever lie or cause mayhem them tell me why not a single soul from the entire city saw any giants? No giants walking around in the snow, no giants before the storm, no over sized footprints from naked giants left behind in the wake of her storm? No giant anything spotted by a single soul in the town or beyond the town. No traces of them.” The Guard chuckled as he sat back in his chair, resting his feet on the desk before him. He wasn’t looking at either woman directly, merely watching them faintly. He went silent for a short time before speaking again in question to Meri, “You claim to know her so well, then tell me how do you know she hasn’t fooled you all along into thinking she is a sweet woman that just has moments of bruises…?”

Meri has to bite her tongue just a smidgen here. The answer that she wants to spout off with is full of nothing but a condescending tone and sass. How long have these guards actually been in there position? Did they know anything about the lands in which they were protecting? "I don't know. I wasn't there. But if you want some speculation....Maybe! Someone else was trying to stir up some trouble." Try as she might, Meri might start to sounding a touch on the patronizing side as she explains her hypothesis. Thanks to a certain gray-haired warrior, Meri is not so in the dark with the happenings of the lands and is able to piece together something. "I mean there is a rocky situation between Frostmaw and Larket, right? There is magic coursing all through these lands in all shapes and forms and it would not be hard to fabricate this situation. Illusionists may not be great in number but when you do meet them...." Meri has had first hand experience on this front. "It can be very hard to separate fantasy versus reality." Meri looks over her shoulder toward Emilia, not really meaning to disinclude Emilia from the conversation, but not willing to give up pleading her case. "So yeah, I guess you can sit there and try and tell me that maybe she has managed to trick me for like...I don't know, the last three years? But I have seen this chick through a lot and I would sooner accept that she in some how, some way was tricked and is still the innocent party than I would be willing to accept that she did this with any level of malicious intent and then schemed up a lie to get out of it." Her gaze jerks over her shoulder to Emilia, these words were meant for the icy woman. "Were you there with anyone else? Is there anything you can think of that might have struck you as odd?" Meri's look was a pleading one. Anything, Emi, anything.

Emilia listened at the bickering between the Guard and the Meri. It wasn’t anything new sounding to the ears of the Genasi. All day she bickered for herself about the giants, how real they were, and how blind the city must of been to not see anything or just how good of an Genasi she is to create such a storm that no one saw the giants being taken out of the city. Either way, it was her word against that of a town...a town that has long since had her pegged for being cruel and dangerous. The very town that had her whipped as a young child resulting in some layering to the scars upon her back. She wasn’t about to give up the fight against the city for her innocence, but she also didn’t wish to cause some more trouble for herself, not yet anyways. “Not Lost...erh, Thamalys was there with me. He saw them first and sent word for me to come quickly, so I did. It was giants chained up in the cells further North of here, a good lot of them in here all naked like….” the woman let her words slowly fade out. The look on her face was hopeful that he and the giants had made it to safety in Sage and were still safe. The Guard looked at Meri, “That is more poppycocck. The woman was alone when we found her raging the city in a snow storm. To that matter, why don’t you go take a wandering over to the said cells where she found twelve giants! The room isn’t big enough to fit that many of those oversized beings into!” He would sit up slightly, almost knocking himself out of his chair, “Maybe you need to accept the facts Ma’am that your friend there isn’t as good as you think she is and that she attacked the city of Larket for the city of Frostmaw. She is after-all nothing more than a monster of ice inside a woman’s body…. Or consider that all those bumps and bruises you speak of have caused the woman to damage that tiny brain of hers. She could have just finally broke! Mentally Insane, I’ve seen cases of it before. She fits the profile.”

Meri can't contain herself anymore and the spitfire of a tattoo artist spouts off with the first thing that comes to mind. "Yeah well you fit the profile of stupid, clearly. Because you cannot see how plausible it is for so many alternative avenues to exist within these lands then you must be a freaking dumbass." Lips twist up into a sneer. "I have fought against a drow illusionist before who was able to summon all manners of trickery." Meri could tell that this conversation was going to go no where. Emilia was not going to be released, but at least someone had the story and would continue to spread the word of her innocence. "It was all a trick of the mind. I have hired illusionists for personal reasons." Well personal reasons for Tristram, but they were still not her personal reasons to vocalize. Her temper was flaring and Meri was moving toward the exit of the holding cell before the guards to decide to arrest Meri for....unruly behavior or something, who knows with the law! They'll try and pin anything on you, clearly. "And if you cannot see how easy it would be for an illusionist to mask their own form from view....as it would be for them to conjure up a bunch of giants that were never really there? Then yeah, you are just plain dumb and should be cause for concern on your investigational skills as well. Clearly. Because you will not even entertain any other avenue. She's guilty. Because she fits a profile." Cue a blatant eye roll. Before Meri departs though, one final statement for Emilia. "We're going to figure out how to get you out of here but I need to go for now..." She needs to go before she makes things worse by cracking some guard skulls together with the hope that it might knock some common sense into them.

Emilia watched with wide eyes as Meri just burst to life at the Guard in her defense. It was a good feeling to know someone on the other side of the bars was looking out for her. A small nod was given to the other woman, “Thank you for visiting, but I don’t think it was an illusion Meri. I have bore witness to them before from many a source...this wasn’t like that. And I highly doubt someone is going to fool both myself and Thamalys….” It was a good notion to think upon. How would one manage to perform a high intense illusion that tricked a Genasi and an Spellblade? Keeping up with the illusion long enough to move the giants from within the cells to out into the city, through the city, and into Sage? The likelihood of an illusionist that strong in the lands wasn’t very likely. The Guard was about to go after Meri to arrest the woman, but his chair fell out from beneath him. The chair snapped into pieces below him leaving him in a pile of broken wood. Cursing he yelled at the woman, “Get out of here, Woman! No more visits for you! You set foot back in here and you can join the frozen monster there!” Scrambling up to his feet the man went to follow after Meri making sure that she left the jail. While Meri is exiting she can hear the other guards outside talking about the subject that had everyone talking. Theories from drugs to poison being tossed around in context to what could have set off the woman into a rage to storm the city. Perhaps she was drugged...or poisoned.

Meri could be wrong in her speculation, but she was just trying to provide a fly-off-the-handle reason for the guards to investigate further rather than sit on their lazy bums. The psion had even thought to argue further with the guards about this name that Emilia had just dropped. Thamalys. But Meri has already concluded the answer she will gain from the guards -- they found her working alone. No one else in sight. Blah blah blah. Meri will go alright, she'll bolt right out the door, and flip the unhelpful guards the bird on the way out just to push her luck.
